We've been visiting this shop for years and have always had great experiences. Whenever someone…read moreasks for a recommendation, I confidently recommend Pearl City Auto Works. The staff genuinely treats customers like family, they are honest, and never try to sell us unnecessary services. Since my spouse travels frequently for work, this is the only shop they trust to handle our car while they're away. Recently, I had an issue and was concerned about some noises coming from our vehicle. I left a voicemail, got a callback within an hour, and given our situation, they worked with us to come in to ensure everything was okay. But, just like a sickly child walking into the doctor's office looking perfectly healthy, our car didn't make the noise when it was checked, haha. The staff suggested recording the sound and bringing it back if it worsened over the weekend, as they are closed then. Also, when they don't have loaners available, they have a very reasonably priced partnership with Enterprise if a rental is needed. I'm truly grateful to everyone there for their caring and professional service. Before finding this gem, we had horror story after horror story trying to find a good shop for our vehicle. Highly recommend them here for any service!

First of all, I would like to say the ONLY reason I decided to go with Pearl City Auto Works was…read morebecause they had 5 star reviews. After my experience with them, they deserve a 1 star. If I could I would give them a 0. 2 and a half years ago, I took my car to Pearl City Auto Works for a brake job. It cost me almost $5k to do it. Now they told me I gotta spend another $2400 to fix the same problem. My other half and I talked business with the owner's daughter Shay Nakamura about the situation and asked certain questions and she couldn't give any feedback to the situation at hand. She tried to give me a discount, but I don't think it was enough, considering I know for a fact they are charging me 3-4x the actual cost for the parts and then will eventually get more money back because of the cores. I text the number they text me with explaining my situation and there were no response. 2 phone numbers they text me from I left a text message, no response. That right there shows me that that they have poor communication skills. Communication was done with text. To be honest, I prefer real conversation with a person/company. I believe that they either did a poor job 2 and a half years ago or the quality of parts they used suck!! I got ripped off the first time and they tried to do that again the second time around. NEVER again will I do business with them!!

Thankfully, they weren't too far away. When I arrived, the gentleman immediately welcomed me, pulled my van into the shop, and started diagnosing the issue. The customer service I received was exceptional, and I truly appreciate how helpful and accommodating they were. I'm looking forward to having them service my vehicle and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for honest and great customer service. I also want to add that while my van was being diagnosed, the gentleman noticed my coolant was low and took the time to add more coolant for me. I truly appreciate that extra step. It showed me that they genuinely care about their customers and are willing to help beyond just the service they're providing. Small acts like that really stand out and mean a lot. Thank you for your kindness and for going above and beyond. I wanted to come back and update my review now that everything has been completed. I picked up my van, and the AC is working great! The repair was completed, and I'm very happy with the results. The final price was reasonable for the amount of labor involved, and I appreciate the work that was done. Overall, I'm satisfied with the service and look forward to bringing my van here again for future repairs and maintenance. Thank you, Auto Papa, for getting my AC back up and running!

I had two separate claims done here, and while things seemed okay at first, the actual pickup and…read morefinal handling of my car turned into a complete mess. Their communication at the end was terrible. I got a text and a phone call explicitly saying my car was ready for pickup. Because they told me it was done, I went ahead and returned my rental car to Enterprise. When I showed up at the shop, my car wasn't ready. It was still being worked on, had plastic on top of it, and I could see employees actively making fixes to it. They told me I had to come back in 20 minutes. If I didn't have a ride with me, I would have been completely stranded because I already turned in my rental. It's incredibly unprofessional to tell a customer their vehicle is ready when workers are literally still at the car making adjustments. When I returned 20 mins later, the careless garage work only got worse from there. Right after I signed the paperwork and turned my car on to leave, my dashboard lit up with errors, locking my traction control and tire pressure safety lights on. When I immediately brought it up to their mechanic(I believe his name was Arnold), he told me that they had put air in my tires, that they were all good, and I can go drive off. He claimed my two tire sensors were just suddenly "faulty" and that I needed to go get them checked somewhere else, completely refusing to help me with the issue. Honda didn't have an immediate appointment available when I called them the same day I picked up the car, so I took the next closest one. Also on that same day, I checked my tire pressures myself and found that every single tire was overinflated by a massive 6 PSI over the factory limit. I had to let the extra air back out to the correct level myself, but the dashboard lights stayed locked on. I had to pay Honda $270 out of pocket just to have them manually reset the software and clear the code. To top it all off, when my insurance company called the shop to confirm what happened, the shop actually lied to them and claimed my dashboard lights were already on before they ever worked on the car. That is a flat-out lie to cover their own tracks, especially since their mechanic explicitly discussed the sensors and the air they added right at pickup. Thankfully, my insurance company saw through it, took my side, and reimbursed me for the dealer fee anyway. Pearlridge Fender & Body is disorganized with pickup times, their garage work is careless, they refuse to help when they mess up your vehicle, and they lie to insurance companies to avoid accountability. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else.

In all honesty I have mixed feelings while I do think some of the staff was very kind and…read moreunderstanding, the other few were very dismissive. Long story short I got into an accident back in August and needed my car repaired, they looked my car over, gave us a quote, and billed our insurance but the communication was terrible, we had to go out of our way to call and ask for an update because they never seemed to have one for us. I was trying my hardest to be understanding that we live in Hawaii and it is hard to get parts but when you are sitting in the dark for months, with no solution in sight it gets frustrating. The accident happened in August, they billed my insurance in November, they only just took my car in February. The part that makes me sad is that it took us calling our insurance to file a complaint and magically the same day we received a call to drop off the car two days later. The only thing I am grateful for is that the car is fixed and the total amount of time I was truly out of a vehicle was two weeks.
