In the rare occasion I visit a buffet, it's usually because of my dad; this visit was no different. We were there for dinner. We had a good server; she took care of us without being overbearing. I got a kick out of seeing the Western Sizzlin sauce on the table. I gave the food a score of "3" instead of "4" because on the night I went, there was no shrimp; only fish. The buffet didn't have the most extensive variety, but there were enough choices to get you full. I enjoyed the salad bar. I went on a Sunday around 1 p.m., and the line was pretty long, which I didn't mind at first. The restaurant has a 1950s-style atmosphere, but overall the vibe felt unwelcoming. Our server wasn't very attentive and didn't check on us the way you'd expect. As for the food, it was disappointing. The macaroni was extremely soggy, the chicken was greasy, and the mashed potatoes had no seasoning at all. The gravy was the only thing with flavor, but it was overly salty. For $41.18, it just wasn't worth it. I will say the fruit punch was good, even though it was sugar-free. Overall, they really need better cooks and more attentive service. Met a group of ladies from their church for dinner. The restaurant was pretty busy since it was a Sunday night. I chose the beef tips since they came recommended with a baked potato and the salad bar. Everything was fresh and the bar was clean and constantly being restocked and attended to. I always told my husband about how we grew up eating from this restaurant on Thursdays and Sundays. I was upset when they closed down in my hometown, so he surprised me by taking me here on a date night! I was super excited and nervous that it may not taste the same. Well...I WAS WRONG!!! I always had a salad first and made it just like I use to and was surprised it really tasted the same. I tried the meatloaf, chicken, chicken gizzards, green beans, and mashed potatoes and who could forget the roll!!! The service was amazing and it really made me reminisce on how everything was when I was a little girl. It didn't miss a beat, older people were there enjoying their food just like I was. Quincy's advertises they are "HOME OF THE BIG FAT YEAST ROLL" which is actually a damn good roll. I just wish the rest of the food was as good. Yes, the parking lot is full especially with hardworking folks chowing down lunch before they gotta finish the other half the day. Plenty of all-you-can-eat plates to be filled. Unfortunately, we thought the food subpar and oddly seasoned. We did agree the service was friendly and the salad bar fresh. Give this place a HARD PASS. I ordered a Ribeye and salad bar with a drink. Came to $31. The medium ribeye was tough with a lot of fat. The only edible portion was about the size of a filet mignon. I sent it back and the manager brought $28 back to my table and told my server it was a full refund and I would have to pay for salad bar and the baked potato. Basically they did not want my business. Went there for a birthday celebration. The food is always fresh and delicious. The restaurant is a standard type buffet. My favorite is the fried chicken gizzards, and the peach cobbler. My grandmother likes this place - so I had to go for her birthday. I haven't been here since grade school so the food has changed since. I have no idea why it's so packed for such disgusting less than mediocre food and very limited buffet options. I thought it would've had more options, similar to Golden Corral, but the buffet had a modicum selection of thrown together Sunday lunch choices. The food was unseasoned, not flavorful and seemed like everything came from a can or frozen food section in the grocery store. The service was good - our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. The ambiance was too crowded and the buffet was too small. Lighting was great. Family friendly atmosphere - but the food is disappointing. The desserts are also weak. read more

So my wife and I had went here just to try there food out a I have to say it was our first time and our last time so the lunch buffet looked good so I had the stake and onion and the stake taste awful The dinner rolls were soggy. The mashed potatoes were runny the gray had a nasty taste the fried chicken didn't have any taste. Fried liver was so damn hard I could barely chew it so I got a salad. Everything was good till I bit into the tomato that was sour . chicken pot pie was about the best thing they had going chicken and dumplings they were OK. Moved to NC 2 years ago and discovered this place by accident driving down the road. I saw a lot of cars in the parking lot and decided to try it out. My first time here, I tried the 12 oz.. sirloin for 11.99 and was very impressed. My 2nd time here I tried the buffet and was equally impressed. They do not have a large selection but what they did have was fresh and tasty. I especially liked their fried chicken and baked spaghetti. The staff is friendly and quick to clear your table and they always make sure to refresh your drink. I'm glad to say that I'm a regular here now. Rest of the hot items were nothing special that would set this places apart from places like Golden Corral. Salad on the salad bar had an old taste to it as it had been setting out for a few days. Didn't have a steak, so I cant comment on that. However, the price is decent, my family of 5 ate for under $40, and the waitresses are super attentive and very nice, which is the only reason I'm giving this a 2 star rating. Quincy's was one of my favorite places to eat as a kid and haven't seen one in awhile. While they could use some updating on their interiors, but overall the food and the service were great. The big fat yeast roll is still delicious, and they still have the great southern cooking, and my meatloaf was cooked perfectly. I was a little skeptical to stop after seeing the reviews, however it was a lot better then the rating that it has. Definitely a great place if your wanting a variety of food. If i could give it zero stars, I would. The food was terrible! We spent $60 for nothing. Steak was tough. My 14 year old loves all things steak and always eats it, even if its not great. But he left a lot of his sick looking sirloin. He only ate what he did because he was starved, but soon realized how bad it was and felt sick. Everything was tough, dry, flavorless or disgusting. When we complained, the manager was rude, and her exact words "most people complain as soon as they get their steaks". That says a lot doesn't it? She would do nothing about it, she only took our name and number and would discuss it with the manager tomorrow. So when I decided to go to Quincy's, it was nostalgia that hit me, so I took the chance. The restaurant is a survivor, as it is one of two the country that still exist (the other being in Florence, SC). The building and decor suggest its last update was in late 80s/early 90s; with the usual long walk-way to get utensils and drinks before ordering either steak or buffet/salad. The store conditions show its age, nothing is really new inside, with dark areas in the dinning area; outside wasn't anything special looking at either, with the parking lot just a patchwork that is weathering away. I took the chance and got the buffet/salad and drink for dinner, costing $12.25. The setup is basically two tables for salads, three tables for hot food and one table for desert. Since I don't eat salads, I went for the soups; there I saw a live roach next to the chili pot, which quickly ran under the hot bar... okay, my desire to eat here dropped considerably at this point. Skipping the soups, I still gave it a go got a few items at the other hot bars and a few yeast rolls (which was Quincy's trademark back in the day). The selection wasn't impressive, mostly fried stuff including: fried chicken, chicken nuggets, chicken livers, fried clam strips, popcorn shrimp, and some sort of meat filled sausage for meat dishes. The veggies included greens (where I watch one guy poor liquid from his plate back into it), mashed potatoes (was okay), black eye peas (bland), corn (very buttery), hush puppies, and other side items that didn't look appealing. The yeast rolls were okay, that was mostly what I ate, with some fried chicken (so-so) and clam strips (gummy). The server was very friendly and always refilled my drink, providing additional plates without asking, so that was nice. But after eating some of the food, I was pretty much done with the place and skipped desert (they had some pies, banana pudding and ice cream). Lesson learned today... nostalgia is great, but some things must should stay in the past. I gave it a go but I will not be going back. read more

my wife and I live nearby and had not gone to a Quincy's for a long time because of old memories, but I kept driving by and looking at all the cars and the old saying is you can judge the food by the cars in the parking lot is certainly true in this case. It probably has bad management, because the place could be cleaned up quite a bit with little effort and cost (the reason for four stars and not five) but the food is excellent. Price is very good, the food is very tasty, the best fried chicken anywhere. The waitress staff we have had had are excellent and very, very hard working if only the manager worked that hard. We only get the buffet. We do not overeat as a lot of buf-fat people do, but we feel this is excellent value. we are regulars now. As far as food coming from a can, I don't think any restaurants use homegrown food. we used to go to a restaurant whose slogan was "fresh my farm". I always wondered how he grew squash in January!. I use to go here a lot. NOW i think it will be a long time before i go back. The service is the worst i have every had. I ordered a steak medium rare and waited for 30 minutes for it and only got it then because the waitress saw me looking at the ticket and that is when she came to see what i had ordered then told me she would bring it out as soon as it was ready. When i got it it was stone cold. This is the same waitress i have had the past 4 times and there is always a problem like i can't get a drink that cost over 2.00 or no refill or never get a plate if you go thought the fast pay line. Ok, this place is edible, reliable and kind of mediocre in some ways. The salad bar is by far the best salad bar you will find in Monroe, you can make a very tasty salad here. If you want to eat steak on a budget you are much better off going here than the Waffle House, both price & quality wise. However, if you are looking for Longhorn quality you will be disappointed. They use meat tenderizer I think and tend to overcook so order a shade rarer than you normally do. The buffet itself is tolerable. Fried chicken is actually quite outstanding - only better chicken in Monroe would be Hathaway's and that's all they do- so this says much for Quincy's fried chicken game. The vegetables are good (not spectacular but solidly good) if you like Southern style veggies doctored up out of the can. The desserts are kind of meh. Service always on point. Tea is never soured because they go through it so fast. Breakfast buffet is a very good deal though not gourmet. Solid, cheap, ok but don't come here expecting to have a transcendent experience (if you are looking for that in Monroe, go to Taqueria La Unica or Stone Table instead). It's aight. read more

AVOID this restaurant, We planned a 70th birthday celebration for my Aunt for 60 people which included senior citizens...reservations were made 4 weeks ahead and they were not prepared to accommodate our party....the service was terrible, waitress/manager could not decide if they were going to service by bringing drinks/plates to the table, we had to have all the 60 people get up and go through the line in order to get a head count, which took a long time to get 60 people through the of the time from 2-4pm and used up 30 minutes in a line. The food was terrible, small selection, poor service, drink/cashier line. The easiest thing should have been to take a head count and ring up the number at the register, take drink orders and give everyone plates. The staff and management was rude and customer service skills and communication sucks. The waiters were lazy poor service and expected a tip. Then, when 4:15pm came they were rushing us out the room as if they had another party. We had more people in our party than it was in the whole restaurant. After 30 minutes passed, I went back into the restaurant to find the party room empty. No one was in the party room, assigned waitresses just standing around. The evening white manager/owner was fussing at the on duty black manager about us being still in the room since there were a shift change, a big mess...this was the inconsiderate attitude after we spent over $500+ dollars and was treated very nasty. There no other party due to come in the room it was all about a shift change and I guess who would get a tip. We will not patronage this restaurant in the future.
