Had a party of 9 with a 11:30 reservation. Was informed at seating that only 2 waitstaff were present at the moment. It was crowded yet so things went well. As the afternoon went on and the crowd came in things got a little slow but not slow enough for us to complain about. The place has a nice atmosphere. The live DJ and floral picture wall is a nice touch. The food we ordered was on point. One of the shrimp dishes was a little salty but was edible. With that said the food is seasoned and plated well. We made reservations for 2 for my nieces bday. At that time we were advised that the kitchen would be closed for 30 minutes (which was ok bc my niece wasn't there yet). I had been before but it was everyone else's first time. The waitress was really nice and tried to keep me updated on the kitchen situation but after an hour and a half later I talked to the manager. She was nice as well but definitely prejudged the situation bc she thought we were just waiting on food. When I explained to her that we hadn't even ordered food she was in shock. We had ordered appetizers that had still not come out either. When the manager talked to the waitress, the waitress said the kitchen had blocked everyone off so she couldn't put the order in for our appetizers. Then I was informed that EVERYTHING would come out at the same time so I canceled the appetizers. They still came out and we were on the clock for our food. The manager said that one mimosa carafe and the duplicate appetizer would be on the house. The food comes out and needless to say it was not so great. Everyone was expecting great food bc the appetizers were so good. We were a party of 10 and 6 ppl weren't satisfied, one of which is myself. My food wasn't hot, there was no sausage in it and it was bland. It didn't taste like anything. Idk what's going on there but they tried to rectify the situation. The duplicate appetizer was on the house but the 2nd mimosa carafe was still on the ticket. We paid and left. It was 5 pm! I think we were all ready to go by then and don't want to complain anymore. I visited on a Sunday, brunch hours. I don't have any complaints. I had the chicken and waffles and both were amazing. The server was super sweet and helpful. I would recommend getting there early as it seems it gets very busy as the afternoon goes on. Makes sense given the quality of the food. Our server checked on our table infrequently and our food took over 2 hours to arrive. At one point a server (not our server) dropped off the wrong food and claimed that the kitchen had "ran out of chicken." I stopped by on a whim with my daughter during the week and was seated promptly. Service was good except for the manager who immediately informed me that outside food was not allowed. My daughter was eating a snack while waiting for the food so I offered to leave even though it was Tuesday afternoon, we were basically the only people there, and she was not making a scene. The only thing about this place that's good is the food and Ambiance and that's when your food finally comes!!! I have tried this place 7 times And only had a good experience Twice. It is hit or miss on servers and waitresses with friendly attitudes.. They do not check on you and it takes the food extremely long to come out even when they are nowhere near busy.. I'm in the parking lot heated because I had an hour lunch and my boyfriend called my order in 15 minutes before I got there. I then waited another 30 minutes while there at the for a SALAD!. The bar had 7to 10 people there and people could not get refills. We ended up canceling the salad. With salmon. How long does that really take to broil salmon??? I checked the time of the order and had already sent the request to cancel it by the time it was coming out to us. It should never take 45 minutes during lunch rush. There should be a respect of people's time that they are coming to spend money at your establishment and I just do not see it. Many of the servers were doing very well and rushing which I can truly appreciate but the woman behind the bar with the braids.. you can forget about it. I could see people mouthing I thought you forgot about me as she's bringing drinks. They're literally were only seven people at the bar. I will be at the new spot Park Place 249.. the service there was extremely good and managers walked to each table checking on you. Nice ambiance but that's where is stopped. Party of 10 on a Sunday during brunch hours, some people arrived 30-40 min after the initial group & got their food first, while the initial group received theirs almost an hour later. Firecracker shrimp were salty as hell & only drizzled, not tossed in the sauce. The drinks were good but I believe it was like an extra 5-10 bucks just to make them smoke. Had the salmon with spinach & it was lack luster. You can only order by phone but the cell service sucked with multiple major carriers, they need to invest in a good guest Wi-Fi system. At least the DJ was jammin. They wanted to give gift cards instead of a refund for our guest that waited over an hour for food. Will not be back if there's any type of crowd. read more

Went here after my little sister's college graduation. We were seated quickly and our server TK was very cheerful and responsive. She took our orders and everything was GREAT at the beginning, but declined insanely quickly afterward. Collectively, we had the soul food tacos, wings, chicken and French toast, bayou pasta, truffle mac and cheese, regular mac and cheese, chicken bites and fries (for the kids), BOMB A$$ 24K GOLD CAULIFLOWER BITES (idk how they made cauliflower taste sooo good!?!?), and the mushroom burger as well as 2 soul food platters. Food was EXCELLENT. But anytime I have to get up and find my own silverware, hound someone down to pay the bill, or wander around the restaurant looking for to go plates (I ended up finding the server stand and getting enough for the table myself) it's a PROBLEM. My cousin ordered a strawberry lemonade immediately once we were seated and did not receive it until we were literally getting up to leave. Our poor server was waiting tables both inside and out in addition to stopping every 15 minutes to check on 2 small children seated at a table by themselves with only a tablet between the two to entertain them. Im also pretty sure they weren't her kids......maybe another servers? So, in short, the food was good, literally everything else was bad. The service was HORRIBLE today but I'm still giving them a high rating. First- I LOVE this place. I found it shortly after moving to Houston a few years ago. It's my go to. When family and friends come in town we are going to Quotes. My last two birthdays were spent sitting at the bar. I observe people. I can't turn it off. After studying human behavior and interaction for years and 20+ years in HR leadership it's just a thing. Honestly my last three visits were just off but I keep going back. Today my waiter was my waiter and then she wasn't. Then she was again. She took drinks and apps order. These things made it to the table only after the manager went to check. The drinks came about 40 mins in. We placed a food order I finally asked if I could just pay for the apps after waiting over an hour. The manager said he would be right back. He went to check on it. Before he returned she came back with the check and was adamant that that the manager knew it was canceled. Me and my daughters are heading out before the manager flagged us down holding our tray of food. I told him to pack it up and I will take it with me. Of course I paid for it. My brother was persistent! The young lady did not have to tell me she was in training. I knew it from the first interaction. I am typically very patient in cases like this (blame it on my profession). It was difficult this go round because she rarely came back to the table and when she did she attempted to take our order again every time. Here is what I think they did right - they helped her. Other waiters were checking on our food. She would whisper questions to them and no one got frustrated with her. She would give me wrong info and they politely corrected her. I am only sharing this review because there is something noticeably different about the service at Quotes. Perhaps it's growing pains. I still recommend going. For me, it maybe time to venture out a bit and try some other places. I will be back on a weekday by myself perhaps. read more

I really wanted to support this black business but the service was HORRIBLE. We had a reservation at 2:00 and didn't get our food until 4:00. It doesn't take that long to make French toast and an omelette. The waiter kept saying the manager was going to come but she never did so we just ended up paying a tab for BELOW subpar service/food.
