This was our first time at Maldo's Steak & Ocean and we were so impressed! The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and the atmosphere was really nice. They even had a pianist playing live music, which made the experience feel extra special. The food was sooo good! We had the crab cake, blackened salmon, mashed potatoes, and Brussels sprouts, and everything was delicious. We barely drink, but since it was our first time we wanted to try a couple of drinks too. We ordered a margarita and a lemon drop and really enjoyed both. I also appreciated seeing security walking through the parking lot as we were leaving. It was a nice touch and made us feel even more comfortable. They have free parking and plenty of parking spaces, which is always a plus. If I could give this less than one star I would. We went there on a Saturday evening for my husband's 40th birthday. Coming in we had high hopes, we were greeted and seated quickly. Then things went downhill quickly. 1. My husband sent FOUR cups back, 2 waters, and 2 cocktails that had floating pieces of food and / or food stuck to the inside of the glass. 2. The ice in his cocktail had black particles inside the ice cube like mold. 3. My husband ordered scotch on the rocks and the waitress asked him he wanted big ice, and he said yes. Then our bill comes and they charge $4 PER drink for big ice. So our table spent $16 just on ice alone. 4. The cocktail / drink menu had no prices and when our bill came the alcohol prices were insanely overpriced (think $70). The staff offered no apology or compensation for the dirty items and seemed offput and annoyed with us wanting clean items to drink out of. Will never go back. read more

The steak was good. The live music was ok. Tried the lounge definitely does not cater to everyone. Advice: hire someone to help coordinate all the efforts into a smooth experience. The manager asked if we needed something and when there was an actual request he deferred to someone else instead of handling it. So why ask if you're not willing to assist. Then he never came back. I think it could be a nice place but if they invest in a coordinator/manager to help generalize and make the place more inclusive. She did great to accommodate our large party. Dinner we enjoyed shrimp cocktail, gumbo, Steak and salmon. Everything came out timely and seasoned well. The gumbo was a nice surprise. It was bold and full of flavor. The mashed potatoes were whipped to perfection yet I find they could use a tad bit of salt. Shrimp empanada had flaky crust and the mahi tacos the fish was fresh light and flaky. Loved the churros they were crispy, warm and not too sweet. Perfect way to end the night. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the layout is thoughtful. Love the lounge in the back sure to keep the party going. I feel pricing is fair, great location off the freeway with private lot for convenience. And if that doesn't win you over enjoy the piano player. I did not like the Ceviche from the Happy Hour menu, it was salty and had too many olives. The bread at the table was ample but dry. The lychee Martini was good, however it was slightly sweeter than I am used to. The location is super convenient, parking is easy, and the interior design is gorgeous -- sophisticated and elevated but still totally welcoming for a casual lunch or brunch. I had the Redfish and he had the Pescatore Linguini -- both dishes were delicious and well executed. This was a nice standard dining experience. It was around the level of Cheesecake Factory. It was prepared well but not breathtaking. I'd return but may not be my first recommendation. The salmon was cooked perfectly but lacked flavor. The texture of the mashed potatoes was amazing but lacked flavor. It was the crab sauce on the side that provided the missing flavor but I wish everything stood on its own. The cheese dip appetizer was small and hard to manipulate. The chips were said to be "fresh" but tasted store bought. The Brussel sprouts was delicious but was in a bed of oily vinegar which soaked through it in a way that counteracted some of the balance. I had been wanting to try Maldo's Steak & Ocean ever since I first noticed it while driving by. Since it's conveniently located near the office, I decided it would be the perfect place to host dinner with our clients from Philadelphia and New York. Being my first visit, I was hoping the restaurant would live up to my expectations, and thankfully, it did. The exterior is sleek and inviting, with a covered driveway that allows guests to be dropped off comfortably, which is especially helpful on rainy days. Inside, the décor is stunning. Elegant seating, beautiful chandeliers, and neutral color tones create a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere. From the moment you walk in, the staff is professional, attentive, and friendly. The restaurant features an open-concept layout, and although there were only a handful of occupied tables and a few guests at the bar during my visit, I could easily imagine it becoming lively and quite energetic on a busy evening. There is also a separate lounge area with its own bar and private entrance through the Ocean side of the restaurant. I asked about it and learned that it's designed for guests who want to enjoy cocktails without necessarily having dinner. If I remember correctly, they also have a DJ on either Friday or Saturday nights. The ladies' room was clean, well-maintained, and pleasantly scented, always a nice touch. Now for the best part: the food and drinks. I started with an Old Fashioned made with Woodford Reserve, and it did not disappoint. In fact, I enjoyed three throughout the evening. For an appetizer, I ordered a cup of clam chowder. It arrived at the perfect temperature and was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. The chowder was loaded with clams and chunky ingredients, and I believe there was corn in it as well, which added a subtle sweetness and pleasant texture. It felt like the kind of soup you'd enjoy by the seaside while listening to the waves. For my entrée, I chose the daily special, a 16-ounce steak, medium rare, served with bone marrow and mashed potatoes. If you've never tried bone marrow, you're truly missing out. It was seasoned perfectly, incredibly rich, and wonderfully creamy. I honestly wished there had been more of it. The steak itself was equally impressive, tender, juicy, and well seasoned. The mashed potatoes were simple and classic, exactly what you would expect as a steakhouse side, without any unnecessary additions or overpowering flavors. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and am already planning to bring my husband, as I know he would appreciate both the food and the atmosphere. Its on the north so its a drive! But its FREE parking and plenty of it. This restaurant is NICE! The aesthics are on point from the walk in to the bathroom decor! The customer service was 10/10. Everyone was so nice. The managers checked on us. Our waitress Evonny was on point. They had the piano player playing some hits. The strategy was happy hour plus restaurant week. Happy hour until 6 for bites and drinks--loved the shrimp empanadas. Then moved to a table for resturant week. The food was good yall. I could have used a tid bit more seasoning on my salmon but outside of that everyone enjoyed. If on the north and wanting a nice night out, this could be your spot. Definitely date night material. I had the pleasure of attending the soft opening at Maldo's Steak and Sea tonight, and let me just say--it was an incredible experience! Set to officially open this Thursday, this restaurant is already making waves with its stunning ambiance and mouthwatering menu. As soon as you step inside, you're greeted by high ceilings and beautiful decor that exudes a luxurious modern style. The atmosphere is perfect for a night out, whether it's a special occasion or just a well-deserved treat! We kicked things off with the Shrimp Empanadas, and wow! These golden, flaky empanadas are bursting with shrimp and melted queso asadero, perfectly complemented by the morita mayo and pickled red onions. A must-try starter! For my main dish, I went with the Smoked Chicken, which was nothing short of phenomenal. This mesquite-smoked half chicken was served with smoky salsa tatemada, frijoles charros, cilantro-lime rice, and a fresh arugula and radish salad drizzled with poppy seed dressing. The skin was perfectly crispy, and even though I'm not usually a fan of cilantro, the rice was absolutely ON POINT! I couldn't get enough. Boo chose the Braised Short Rib in Mole and it was heavenly! Overnight-braised short rib topped with Maldo's signature mole sauce and a crunchy pepita seed topping, served with golden plantain molotes. Each bite was packed with flavor! And we couldn't resist ending on a sweet note with the Mexican Hot Chocolate Molten Cake. This decadent dark chocolate treat, paired with warm cinnamon crème anglaise and topped with a crispy "buñuelo de viento" and vanilla gelato, was the perfect finale to our meal. OMG, I ate everything! I also want to give a shoutout to the General Manager, Julio. He was very involved in the soft opening, ensuring everything ran smoothly and that guests had a great experience. I watched the progress of this place opening for months and once it was open my husband reserved our table for dinner. We came early on a Sunday evening around 5:30 pm. We read there was a dress code which we honored --- some of the patrons however, did not. Regardless, this is a place that has beautiful décor and great if you want to have a celebratory dinner. The dining area is fairly large and they also had live music (singer) during the dinner service. The employees take pride in their work. Our server was Jordan C. and he was phenomenal. Not only was he personable, but he answered all our questions about the menu, gave us his recommendations and also made sure we were happy with our drink and food and beverage selections. We tried the complimentary beans and it was a unique way to start the meal. We shared the scallops for our appetizer and they were cooked just right - tender, flavorful and the accompanying chorizo and corn side was delicious. It was my favorite thing I ate that night. The only reason it overshadowed my meal: salmon with broccoli and potato is because the salmon, its seafood sauce and my broccolini were salty. Every component of it was salty and ultimately, I just gave it to my dinner mate to finish. I didn't mention it to our server because by this point someone else was giving him a (underserved) hard time, but also because I felt the measure of salt was probably subjective - as someone who doesn't consume salt in my foods, I have a low tolerance, so the likelihood is that it would have been difficult to distinguish what was too much for me and may have been fine for others. I didn't taste my companion's fries or steak but they enjoyed them. There were a few other things on the menu that I would possibly return to try in the future. I'd also like to check out the speakeasy and examine what that experience was. I was surprised by how many empty tables there were - hopefully the word gets out about this place and more people try and support it as it is a nice place to have in the area. read more

When we arrived, we were pleased to see the ambiance inside. Maldo's had a live piano playing beautiful music and the decor was absolutely amazing. I had the 8oz fillet and the wife had the ribeye. Steaks were cooked to perfection and the craft cocktails were on point. The service was outstanding and very knowledgeable of the wine list. Beautiful restaurant and gracious manager greeted us upon arrival service was a little lackluster I am assuming they were understaffed. The beef is prime and is very tender however I asked for Pittsburgh black and blue and was not delivered I did asked waitress twice and she assured me they could prepare it they fell short unfortunately. I was so excited to see a Latin themed steakhouse that serves prime beef along with fine dining elements management needs to train staff better in pronunciation of items and in all other elements that are involved with fine dining. I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service I received at Maldo's, 11025 North Fwy, Houston, TX on September 22, 2025. I had scheduled reservation for 7:30 PM. After being seated, I waited 15 minutes without being acknowledged by a server or even a manager. I had to get up from my table and walk to the host stand to ask for service. Even after the manager, Julio, came over, it took another 15 minutes before I was brought a drink. At that point, I had already been sitting in the restaurant for 30 minutes without proper service. Manager Julio eventually came to the table with two pieces of bread and refried beans, but that did not make up for the lack of attention or hospitality. What I expected from a restaurant positioning itself as fine dining was attentive service and professionalism, not being ignored for half an hour. What makes this worse is that I had reservations at Truluck's at 7:30 p.m., a proven fine dining establishment, but chose to try Maldo's instead because it was new. I even drove from the Galleria area to the north side specifically for this experience, and it turned out to be an incredible disappointment. If this is the standard of service only four months after opening, I can only imagine how much worse it will get within a year. Fine dining is about more than food--it is about consistent, excellent service, and unfortunately, Maldo's fell far below expectations. I left without eating, and based on my experience, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Julio offered to comp the meal, but I was not looking for free food, I was looking for a memorable dining experience with great service, and that simply did not happen.
