Went to Mavis to have a tire plugged due to a screw in the center of the tread of my passenger rear…read moretire. I was checked in and told it could be done right away, great! The next thing I know another guy goes and looks at my car and tells me I need a whole new tire because the screw is in the sidewall and is effecting the integrity of the tire. This as he was showing me on a showroom tire, where the screw was in my tire. I knew immediately this was an attempt to try to rip me off because I was a woman and probably didn't know enough about tires to question this. WRONG!!! I will also add to replace my tire would be very expensive and they probably would not stock what my German car would require, thus they would be making a nice profit off me!! I said to both of them "Do I look like an idiot! I know the difference between the sidewall and the center of the tread of a tire!!" Needless to say I left and will never do business or recommend this business. If possible I would give this Mavis location a negative score.

And then Midas informed me that my oil plug was stripped... When I brought it back to Mavis they told me because mitis had it in their garage they had no way of knowing who actually strip the oil plug then try to charge me $900 in labor to fix it... also originally I had to go back in and fight for my tire warranty because the tires they sold me guaranteed to go 60,000 miles and they only made it to 40and then the manager there tried to tell me I was SOL and had to buy a new set of tires... Luckily one of the employees stuck up for me and made him honor the warranty Because I brought it in for a tire rotation religiously every 5000 miles...

If you have the money to visit a dealer and buy a new car every 2 or 3 years, it doesn't really…read morematter, but if an older car is all you can afford, you need to find a Real Car Guy who actually loves cars. Doctors go to medical school, but not all of them are really deeply involved in curing people. If yo can, you want a doctor who really likes making people well. Medical practice is full of frustrating things like filling out insurance papers to get paid. A doctor who gets joy from curing people can handle it. Cars can be as frustrating as medical claims. When your car isn't happy, you need someone who not only has the training, but how loves cars and loves fixing them. Dave's people all love cars - just look at what they drive! There is a down side - A true car person gives off an aura that makes the car feel better just as you feel better when you visit a certain doctor's office. That means if you bring it in with something wrong, just being near the car person may make the car act nice. Don't be embarrassed, just be glad your car is happier and bring it in again. I'm just glad Dave's people can keep it running longer. Every extra year is a year I'm not paying the bank.... Go, Dave, go!

I had a very disappointing experience at Midas in Plaistow, NH. I scheduled an oil change and…read morepresented a Midas coupon that included an oil change and tire rotation. While my vehicle was there, I was contacted about additional repairs. I declined because they were not within my budget. When I picked up my vehicle, the manager, Brian, appeared upset that I declined the additional work and told me, "Don't bring your vehicle back if you are only getting an oil change." That is completely unacceptable. Customers should be able to decline recommended repairs without being pressured or made to feel unwelcome. To make matters worse, I later discovered that my tires had not been rotated, even though the rotation was included in the coupon and specifically requested. I can't say whether this was intentional or an oversight, but given what was said to me after I declined the additional repairs, it certainly raises concerns. Customers should be able to purchase an advertised service, decline additional work, receive everything they paid for, and be treated respectfully. My experience at this location was anything but that.
