Five of us came to this location today. And it was our first time. We were seated fairly quickly though it was busy. I think we got there about 915 to 930. We sat kind of in the back of the main room near the bar. And unfortunately, we cannot remember our waitresses name. However, she was extremely nice extremely patient and tolerant. We requested separate checks, and she nailed every single one of our orders. The food was outstanding and came out very quickly for as busy as it was at the time. No complaints at our table. If you're looking for homemade favorites you have to stop by R&K cafe in Weatherford. I ordered the cheese and onion enchiladas. It came with pinto beans, Mexican rice, chips and salsa. Enchiladas and beans were definitely homemade. Hubby ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy, corn and pea salad. You can tell the potatoes were homemade and they were really good. The pea salad was okay but we didn't care for the hard-boiled egg used in the salad. After eating our meal, our waitress brought a dessert as included with lunch, which was a piece of chocolate cake with strawberry icing on top. It reminded me of being in school going through the cafeteria line and getting a piece of cake from the lunch ladies. My son and I came here on our way to DFW. First off, they only take cash but they have an ATM. Luckily, my son (15) spotted me $23 after warning me to not travel without cash. It is self-seating but be aware, they may not see you because we had to move in order to be acknowledged and have our order taken. My son ordered a cheeseburger and I ordered a patty melt. Excellent food, prices, and Service!!! I ordered off the main menu. I had smothered grilled chicken, salad with homemade ranch, green beans, and cabbage. My husband had a lunch, special of chicken, fried steak, pinto beans, salad, and baked potato. Each meal came with a roll and they were good with real butter. We went here after church today for lunch. They were very busy. My wife ordered the chicken fried steak with sides and it was all good. I ordered the ham sandwich which came with fries. The sandwich was probably the worst ham sandwich I've ever eaten. The best part of it was the lettuce and tomato that came on it. It was served on thin toast and the thin slice of ham was a little fatty. I left most of the toast on the plate. The fries were very good. They also gave us a small dish of banana pudding. Not good. This afternoon I drove to Weatherford in order to have lunch with my sister. After contemplating a few options, we picked R&K Diner. The only word of caution is they strictly take cash or checks, no credit cards. Thankfully there was an ATM in the restaurant lobby. How convenient?! Anyway, I had the Chicken Fried Steak, along with french fries, mashed potatoes, and fried okra. The steak was tender, and the entire meal was absolutely delicious! The service was also exceptional. Have to give this little gem 5 stars. We had the lunch specials. All were 10.99. Came with choice of probably 5 entrees, plus 3 sides, drink and dessert. Can't beat that. But wait there's more.... Service was excellent, portions were large dinner portions by all standards and the food was fresh, cooked perfectly and tasted good. Zero complaints. My orca could have been a tad warmer but I'm a person that enjoys my food HOT so that is not a fair complaint. We will be back for sure. Can't imagine what their breakfast is like. read more

Had a hankering for chicken fried steak and liked the reviews of this place, so me and grandsons Evan and Austin made the short drive from Fort Worth. FYI, R&K is cash only. I had a thought we were going to have an enjoyable meal when we were greeted by the owner and saw a lot of locals coming and going during our visit. We did. Austin ordered the kids grilled cheese with fries, Evan the R&K burger with cheese and bacon with fries and I the chicken fried steak with pinto beans, corn and fries. Everything arrived hot and fresh. The boys wolfed down their sandwiches and almost all of the large portion of fresh cut fries. I thoroughly enjoyed my CFS, fries and beans. The corn was not crisp so I had it swapped for mashed potatoes with gravy. The spuds were a bit dry and would be much better if they were whipped, not mashed, with more butter and cream. Decor is pure Texas with a relaxing ambiance. Service was very good. Our server, Madison, did a great job taking care of us. We'll be back. read more

Chicken strips, gravy, pinto beans were great. Hand cut fries were okay, not enough seasoning for my taste. Dinner roll was stale. Husband said ham sandwich was perfect with chips. Our server was very friendly. She answered all our questions as it was our first visit. Wanted to try the catfish but it is only available on Fridays and Saturdays. We will go back. Quite a pleasant surprise. We've driven past R&K on Santa Fe many times, and finally stopped in for a dinner meal recently. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality and quantity of food. Water and ice that the ice water and soft drinks are made from needs a filter if the "lake is turning over". It tasted musty and spoiled the ice water and ice in the soft drinks. Service was very good as it seems to be at all the R&K restaurants.. The R&K in Cleburne gets the highest ratings because it deserves the highest. The food drops this R&K to a two or less while the Service raises it to a three. Won't be back unless the food changes. read more

Good food, piss poor service! I won't have a menu thrown at me because the waitress is too lazy to walk to the opposite end of the table. Update: 5 November 2017. I got a PM from I guess the owner or the manager after my last visit and told this person I would come back and give them another chance. I did. The waitress did a great job of getting our order right. The issue I have now is that my plate was brought out 10 minutes sooner than the rest, then when my son got his the waitress said they did not have enough plates. As of right this minute my wife or daughter still do not have there orders and I had to give my short stack order to my daughter to feed to our grandsons. I will NEVER be back for anything. I'd rather starve or eat at a McDonalds. From what my son said his was good and my steak and eggs looked like it would have been delicious. The meals were comped and for that I'm thankful.
