Extremely quick response time even though it was morning rush hour traffic which was very much appreciated. I can't remember the name of the gentleman who came out to tow my vehicle, but when he got there he was extremely knowledgeable, professional and pleasant to deal with. He was actually able to get my truck running so I could drive it to the shop, which further saved me a ton of hassle and money as I didn't have to get an Uber to get to the shop to get a loaner vehicle. I really appreciate the ability and knowledge this gentleman had as it put me at ease, as having your vehicle break down is alarming enough to have to deal with as it is. The fact that he cared enough to try to get me back on the road and not just show up and put my truck on the tow truck and drive away was fantastic. Just got my car towed from Livermore to Fremont. Called them when my car broke down in Livermore. The lady on the phone said it may take up to 30 min, but they were there in 15min. The driver/owner Geff (sp?) was very friendly and professional. Price was very reasonable. I would highly recommend them if you need a tow. read more

I am not too kind to my automobile... and I have a heinous commute that is even less kind. This = mucho car problems and the need for many tows, over the years. In the 8 or so years I've been in the Tri-Valley, I've had cause to use R Lance probably a dozen times and they've never disappointed. They're super fast (and AAA's first choice for the area) and the guys are always professional, non-sleazy and don't give you a hard time regardless of the time of night or stupid mistake that led to the tow. I have never had a tow truck driver be the most kind and considerate person like Tom was. Even though he was busy, he still managed to make time for me and provide the service I needed. He was pretty good at listening while keeping a conversation going and telling us about his day (which I don't mind) and vise versa. He was kind, fast, reliable and just awesome as few words can describe! One of the things that he said is that the company is all about customer service and I believe it because all other tow truck drivers I've had in the past barely held a conversation other than, "What's wrong with the car?" This past Friday my car blew a spark plug forcing me to exit 5 and call for a tow. Unfamiliar with the area and service providers, I called R. Lance & Sons Towing as a local agency. This is one call I will never regret. They asked where exactly I was located and details of the car - to provide the proper tow vehicle. A flat bed soon arrived, if not new, it was in excellent looking condition. I introduced my self to Dave, who easily could have been on offensive or defensive lineman, as he was an intimidating presence. But Mom said, never judge a book by its cover. Before long we are conversing on jobs, economy, children, education, politics, Chevy Trucks, etc. Dave is by far the kindest and most sincere person I met in some time. He was reassuring, professional, and considerate - given my situation. A gentle giant is a nice way to describe him; and a man of integrity and family! My car broke down in a Safeway parking lot a few weeks ago, and we called around to find a good towing company. The first people we spoke with said that there was 2 hour wait, and the price was pretty high. At some point, we got in touch with these guys, and they sent someone over at that moment and for significantly less than anything else we'd found. I recently used R Lance Towing to move a vehicle from one side of Livermore to the other. The rear wheels were unable to move but that was no problem. There was even a slight miscommunication that for a little while they thought it was going to be a harder tow than in reality it was. I picked this company because of the Yelp reviews. Looks like I should have checked the dates as the other ones are 2+ years old. I had a far different experience. It was the day after thanksgiving which could possibly mean the tow company was very busy and running short staffed. Unfortunately, they over promised and under delivered. I woke up on Friday morning to find out that my card had a flat tire. I called this company at 10am in the morning and asked them for a flat tire service for my car. At that time I was told they will be there in 45 minutes and I mentioned to them that will be great as I had an early afternoon appointment . At 11:30 they have not showed up and I called them again. I was told that the driver got busy and he is on his way - he would be here in 20 minutes. No one showed up and at 12:45 I called again and I was told that someone should be there but they cannot reach the driver. Needless to say, I was very annoyed about the lack of service and common courtesy (they did not let me know of what was going on even though they had my contact number). I canceled the service call at 1pm as I had to leave for my appointment. I asked to have the manager or the owner call me regarding this incident and I am still awaiting his/her call 8 days later. Very unprofessional service, so stay away from even considering this company. read more

Today, I was on my way to Oakland on 580 about a 1/2 mile from the top of the grade when I saw the strangest thing. There was a tow truck from R. Lance on the side of the road, the back of the truck was flat as it would be if it was empty or towing a car, but the black Ford Expedition that it appeared to be towing was sitting with the front of the Ford on the tow truck and the back wheels of the Ford were on the ground. In the past, I've had to have a car towed and the driver tilted the bed of the tow truck to load and unload my car....Is this a new way of Towing or did he lose his load. I think the latter, because the driver was standing by the truck and scratching his head like he didn't know what had happened or what to do. Wouldn't it be better if R. Lance spent time training their own drivers instead of complaining about other companies who are doing their job and not losing or damaging their loads. read more

ive had several towing experiences in the past with r. lance and sons. i am putting this review up because of a horrible experience i had with Larry's tow in SF. they couldnt tow my car because it was too low. i laughed when they said this, luis from r. lance and sons towed my car several times and never had a any issues. r. lance and sons have drivers way more experienced than big city towing companies. go figure. read more

My car broke down on the freeway outside of Livermore and I needed a tow truck. The first place I called only does heavy duty towing and recommended R Lance. I gave them a call and they quoted me a high price since I was on the freeway. I had no choice so I told them to come. They came very quickly and the driver was super cool and looked at the car to try to see what the problem was and help. I only needed to be towed 2 miles to a mechanic. When we got there, he charged me $100 less than the quote (just amazing!) because it was a short trip. The mechanic couldn't fix the problem so I had to call R Lance for another tow to a dealership in Dublin. Again, he came quickly, was very nice and professional, and charged me ALOT less than I expected for the long tow. This was just incredible for me and it really made the whole situation easier. If you break down, call them first! I really couldn't have had a better experience with a tow truck company. read more

He was extremely professional, took good care of my vehicle, and recommended a local shop for the repairs that was open on Saturday. But the reason this becomes a five-star review is that my car died again just down the road, and the driver (Bruce) gave me a second jump at no additional cost. My car wouldn't start this morning, and of course I was parked in the driveway so the jumper cables wouldn't reach from my husband's car. So we called these guys to try jumping it, or if that didn't work, to tow it to the repair shop. The driver came in 15 minutes, and thankfully the jump worked. But the reason for the 5 stars is that the driver took the time to show my 4 year old son how the truck worked, and also made sure I had a receipt to submit to my insurance company for reimbursement. I highly recommend R Lance Towing. I was in a terrible predicament. I was storing my vehicle at a storage facility while I living in Florida. The storage facility was repaving the grounds and needed the vehicle moved for several days. I could not have it towed to another storage facility without being present. The owner was about to have it towed and impounded. Jeff at R Lance picked up the vehicle, held it for a few days then returned the vehicle. He said they would be out there in 45 minutes and he was true to his word. He took a look at our van and made a few tweaks here and there with the battery and BAM! my guy was on the road in minutes!! R. Lance towed my sons car away from a crash and we did not have the chance to request a different tow company. They charged us $295 to tow the car from 4th and Holmes to their yard on Patterson pass Road. This is a total of 5.3 miles which turns out to be $55 per mile. When we called him on our way home we wanted to know how much it would be to continue the tow to Tracy, approx. 18 mile more. He quoted us $500. I decided to call Allen's towing and had the car removed from R. Lance's yard and towed to my home in Tracy. They charged me $125. The guy also gave me a hard time about calling Allen's and asked why I did not let him tow it. I told him I did and he quoted $500. He was surprised and did not know it was my son that had called hm back. This guy was a total jerk to me and my son and was confrontational about having someone else on his lot and about why I didn't get a quote from him. I would NEVER EVER let this company tow any of my cars. Ever! They charge way too much. read more
