Hired Jorge at R Landscaping last year to relevel our backyard lawn, put in new sod, trim/clean everything and plant sage/lavender around the house with lava rocks. We also had him install chicken wire in the yard because we had a gopher problem. He did a great job and did most of the work himself. We opted for not installing sprinklers so while it held up for a while with manual watering, the yard browned a bit overtime. He came back this year to reseed the yard. Thoroughly weedwacked my hill fast, which was impressive, and took away a lot of leaves, but didn't finish the job. I still have a ton of leaves on the ground and now I need to hire someone else to finish the job. It pains me to write this review :(. I don't like saying negative things about a small business but I feel a duty to let other potential customers know what happened. Even though Jorge only has 4 stars on Yelp and other gardening/landscaping business had 5 stars my husband and I decided to give him a chance. Also read the other one star reviews. A lot of complaints of not showing up and not calling. Wish I listened to those other customers bc we had same experience but even worse. We needed a tree trimmed , bamboo trimmed and our bushes and yard cleaned up and mowed. We also needed a biweekly gardener to mow our lawn and keep it clean. We were given a quote for the one day service to trim the tree and bushes and mow and clean up our yard and another quote for coming every 2 weeks to keep our lawn and bushes trimmed. Although Jorge's quote was $100 more than other quotes for the initial yard clean up, his monthly fee of $100 for the upkeep was $25-$50 less than 2 other quotes we received. We decided in the long run we would save a little money if we gave the job to Jorge even if we paid a little more initially. Keep in mind we were looking for a gardener to take care of our lawn every 2 weeks for an indefinite period of time so it's a long term job. Jorge came on time to do the "big" one time job for which we paid him $950. He even did a decent job. Jorge promised he would start the $100 biweekly visits to mow our lawn starting in two weeks. A couple days before the date he promised to come I texted Jorge and he confirmed he'd be there Saturday as promised. Saturday came and he failed to show up and never contacted me. I called and texted and after he answered the phone he claimed the rain put him behind and he promised he would come Monday. He never showed up, never texted or called and never responded to my texts. Clearly he lied and tricked me into giving him the one time expensive job and never planned to come every two weeks to upkeep my lawn. Why not just be honest? Why say you're coming and never call, text or say you aren't coming? Why risk your business's reputation like this? Why treat a customer who was nice to you and immediately paid you $950 with no complaints after you finished a job? Anyway, this kind of dishonesty and inconsiderate behavior is why this country is going downhill! How would you feel if you waited and changed your plans to be home and the professional you hired didn't show up twice and never even bothered to call to say he wasn't coming? If you like reliability don't hire this company. I am giving 1 star because he did do a decent job when he came the one time for one day job. . I just found an amazing gardener who came today and will be working with my family for hopefully many years. We have two homes and we would have happily hired Jorge and his company for both yards if he just was honest and reliable. read more

Initially Jorge did a great job cleaning up my yard during the first clean up. However, I realized he left a bunch of my solar lights broken then he said he would replace them but it became a struggle to get a response from him. We agreed to have a every other week maintenance but I kept having to text him to find out when he would come. Eventually he told me it was his brother who would come do that service. So I had to continue to text about that too. His brother came once and did an ok job. Another thing, they never finished cleaning up from the initial "big" clean up we did first. He told me we would put the excess yard trash in my bins weekly which is fine, but as the weeks pass and no texts on when they will be coming, it became frustrating to see the same pile there and my texts unanswered. I met the guy he seemed extremely nice and pleasant. I asked to trim my trees and he almost cut my tree off. As I noticed how much he cut I asked him to stop. He continued and said I just need to cut a little more. After the job was done I noticed he cut limbs not just trim. My tree is so bare it is ridiculous. I believe he cut so much wood to resell. He said he could do lots of work and that he was a handyman. He installed a gate. It was installed backwards. The gate won't lock. The door swings open into the sidewalk and when I called to inform him he didn't answer or respond to texts for about a week. He said he was out of town. He never came back to look at or attempt to fix. Moving forward it's best to hire big companies who care about their service and reputation.
