Man COVID has turned the world upside down. I meant to write about this place way back when, but never got a chance, so here I go. First things first, Rob, the owner is an awesome, down-to-earth guy. He really knows his craft and is humble enough to know that he doesn't know everything. When talking to him, you can really tell he enjoys the art of distilling and that he puts a lot of TLC in all of the products he makes. He has a nice little speakeasy to the left when you go in that is really cozy and nicely set-up, pre-covid he would have live music and comedians come and perform. To the right is the actual distillery with barrels and barrels going every which way. Further, he has a little bit of everything from vodka to gin to whiskey. Each one with its own distinctive flavor and taste. For those who love the slightly sweeter type of Whiskey, the Carmela, is hands down one of the best type of whiskey I have had. It has a nice sweet caramel flavor to it that's subtle enough that you know it's there. Additionally, for those who love Mules, he has canned Mules that you can purchase and take home. They come in a nice four pack. Pricing for everything is definitely reasonable. It's a great place to visit. If you aren't a drinker, that's fine, they also sell hand sanitizer. Come by and check them out.

Wow !! I have been here before for their awesome Liquor and today I was pleasantly surprised to find that they are serving food now. We had a most amazing meal topped with amazing service by Mercedes and the topper was the service provided by the amazing chef Arron. I've been wanting to check this place out for a while. In addition to distilling their own spirits they also have a speak easy style bar where you can purchase drinks made from their vodka, gin, and whiskey. If you live in the area it's beneficially to become a member to take advantage of the special perks like having to opportunity to par take in bottling day. I came here for a martini class, which was lots of fun and very informative. The gal that taught the class was super sweet and provided us with lots of great tips. She demonstrated how to make a proper martini and taught us a few variations. Then we got to make our own and we were able to try some of each. I really enjoyed the class and would like to cone back to take a tour of the distillery. You can also purchase their spirits there as well. I was really impressed with their gin. It had a very unique flavor.

The Tasting Room is to the left and up a ramp. It's a cozy, space with the ceiling adorned in a rich red tapestry. It's a fun place with friendly bartenders. The "Some Like it Hotter" cocktail with R6 Vodka, pineapple, cucumber, lime and spice caught our eye. It was an excellent choice for a warm evening as it was refreshing with a slightly spicy kick. This is not officially a bar, so visitors are allowed only one alcoholic drink unless it's a special event or if you are a member. No food on the menu but snacks are available for purchase. Street parking is scarce as always. Be prepared to walk.

For once I'm posting a review the day after I finally made it to the place I'm reviewing, instead of weeks or months later... though funny enough, I was *there* because I had a Groupon that had technically expired like 9 months ago, back the *first* time we thought we were turning the corner on covid and life would be getting back to normal soon, then that absolutely didn't happen - so R6 was great and said they'd honor all their Groupons until the end of the year. Fast forward to the middle of December, now it's *really* expiring, so I was there last night for a tasting before it expired! I imagine it could get busy sometimes, since it's not that large - but when we were there, Saturday around 5, it wasn't busy at at, so it felt nice and intimate, and our bar service was great. (I'm definitely glad indoor seating is available and relatively safe again, cause their speakeasy setup is a great vibe, way better than drinking out in the parking lot or whatever, haha.) I can't comment on the food or the cocktails, since I was just there for the tasting (the beer and cocktails looked pretty good, but we had dinner plans this was on the way to, I wasn't going to keep my wife waiting for the Ethiopian food she was really out here for! That and they're pricey - the coolest-looking ones were like $18!) I also sadly can't comment on *all* their spirits, since a tasting only includes 3 spirits and they have a decent range at the tasting room! I was lucky enough to be tasting with my wife, though, so I can comment on 6 of them. I'll also mention the price of the groupon, if a deal happens to come back that includes a tasting, the included tasting is their three core (cheaper) bottles, or you can pick any 3 and possibly pay up to a few extra bucks depending how expensive the bottles you want to try were, which is pretty reasonable. (The same goes for the bottle, if you want to use a Groupon that includes a bottle for a different one than the included bourbon, though in this case, I took the bourbon - it's a great bourbon! I also didn't notice that you still have to pay tax on the included bottle, but I'm not going to complain, we still got two tastings and a bottle for less than the price of a bottle, haha. Though that Groupon isn't currently available - tastings are normally $18-23 depending on the priciness of the bottles, which is a bit pricey, but I also get that making small batch whiskeys and aging them a long time is expensive, especially in LA. Was nice having a Groupon though!) The specific spirits I tried included their base bourbon and a smoked version (the base version was great, the smoked version was even tastier, but I didn't think *enough* tastier to justify how expensive it was. The core bourbon was totally worth its $46.) Also tried their flavored whiskey, which absolutely tasted like liquid caramel corn, and is totally affordable. Their reposado gin was great, but in that price range, there are a few aged gins I've had I've liked more (it was still great though). On the other hand, their spiced rum absolutely does knock my previous favorite local craft spiced rum bottle down to second-favorite, theirs is so good! Too bad I already had a bottle of spiced rum at home, and you only use spiced rum so often! Finally, I had to try their very pricey absinthe, which, you know good absinthe is going to be pricey. It's quite good absinthe, haha. I did also love that they served the tasting with droppers of water, in case you wanted to add water to your whiskey. I don't like adding water to whiskey usually, but I do like adding a few drops to absinthe, so that worked out! Plus it just looks super classy. I look forward to when they open a second location much closer to us, because I *do* have to try all their spirits. (It sounds like one is coming relatively soon.)

Do you like whiskey? How about a speakeasy? If you do, then this exactly the place for you. Imagine a bar with comfortable leather armchairs, windows that keep the sunlight low, and lamps that look like Edison would approve. Add in fantastic liquor and people that know how it's made. Then set that bar immediately adjacent a distillery. I like it.

Love coming here to have some drinks! We decided to stop here with one of our friends visiting from the Bay and he loved it too. They also serve a couple of beers from Hermosa Brewing and I actually enjoy the choices of beer here more than I do at Hermosa Brewing! My husband speaks very highly of the vodka they have and almost always orders one for his flight. This is definitely a great place to try if you are interested in trying some delicious spirits!

Great quality! We received selection of bourbons as a splendid gift from our friend. That was a first time we tried this product. We tested and tested different ones and enjoyed it so much, but did not have even a hint of a headache next morning! Amazing! Well later we received another gift -a bottle with small sample bottles, from the same friend, and saving it for upcoming holidays when our family will come to visit. That's for sure is a very useful gift for holidays!

The R6 Distillery's Smokey Hollow has a cool vibe, from the red tapestry adorning the ceiling, down to its friendly and attentive staff. We drove up from San Diego earlier that afternoon for the weekend and happen to visit the same evening there was a private event so we weren't able to enjoy as long as we would have liked otherwise, but the drinks were strong and full of spirit. I particularly liked my Gold Rush, which had R6 Bourbon, lemon, and wildflower honey. My friend loved the West Coast Mule that was part of her Cocktail Flight that she had to buy a 4 pack to-go. Our group happily enjoyed it as our nightcap the next evening.

In an unassuming brick building on El Segundo Blvd. sits the Smoky Hollow Tasting & Taproom. The Mrs. and I stopped in for a drinkipoo before dinner on Friday evening. We arrived around 6 p.m. and no one was around except the bartender who went by #019. My wife originally looked at this place because of the beer so we had every intention of having a brew, but then we learned that there was a distillery attached to the operation and that changed things. The distillery goes by the name of R6 Distillery. They make their own rum, gin, vodka, and whiskey. Since R6 distills their own bourbon, I passed on the beer as did my wife. I decided to try the Old Fashioned made from R6's Straight Bourbon Whiskey, because in my opinion, it shows the true essence of bourbon. Before I took a sip of my drink, I was given a sample of the bourbon neat. I have to say that this California made bourbon could rival a Kentucky Bourbon. It was smooth and had a very mellow finish to it. My wife ordered a gin martini made from R6's gin and loved it. Her martini was so smooth she could have had 4 more. Just so you know, Smoky Hollow has a tasting room license so you can only order on cocktail per person, but you can have all the beer you want. The tasting room itself is decorated in a way that resembles a speak easy. Lots of dark red and black leather. The room was beautiful and comfortable.

Mellow vibe. Chill band played as we tasted whiskeys and beers. We got a bit tipsy after sampling everything and played connect four. The Coffee 'n' cigarettes cocktail is exactly as it's name suggest but in a good way. That early morning, foggy cig and expresso, reading the paper and listening to the birds kinda good.

My last minute charcuterie craving was satisfied. Yum..thank you. Hidden quiet place I went for Mothers day on a beautiful outdoor day. Had the boards, soft barvarian pretzel, flourless chocolate cake with red wine and was happy My hubby loves whisky and bourban so perfect place. Workers were attentive and friendly. And place was also suitable to bring our 5 year old. Will be back!

After tasting in December, I came for a tour in February and was SO impressed. Andrew, the distiller, was a really interesting young man who knew so much about the process and was eager to share. I learned more than I have in prior distillery experiences. Of course, the tastes of bourbon and that incredible single malt at the end help too. I was super excited to get a free tour after buying a bottle of their bourbon at Costco. Totally worth it! read more

What a unique place! The interior has an old school speakeasy feel with 2 bars (and comfy bar stools) and a few cushy couches and leather chairs tucked away. The beers are great, especially the Gunpowder Cream w/infused grapefruit. There's just the right hint of grapefruit at the start and the lingering taste is delicious. Can't wait to try the vodka cocktails. That bar opens at 4pm on Sunday so we'll either wait it out or be back!! read more

My husband and I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon to check this place out and we were pleasantly surprised. I had the Berry Smash and it was deliciously refreshing. While they closed early, the wait staff let us know with plenty of time in advance. They have several different types of events like stand up comedy that we definitely want to check out someday. read more

Such a sweet place! Good beer and they let you order in local food. Great small variety of very drinkable beer and an amazing mix of variety of hops. This place is very worth your visit. I came here with friends on a bike ride for my birthday. Grab a brew, a growler or a whole bottle of distilled spirits to go. I would recommend this as a place to stop if you are near the airport and picking up a friend. The owner, bartender and brewers are super friendly. If you ride a bike, ask if you can park it inside (because El Segundo sometimes is known for stolen bikes). I'm not of fan of vodka, but their Organic Blue Corn vodka was amazing!!! Stop buy and grab a drink. read more

Planned this for my bachelorette, we all showed up on 2/11 and they were closed. No sign, no posting. Yelp, Google and their website listed they were open. Should have updated their website/google. At the bare minimum have a sign outside. There was a couple who also showed up and we all walked around the building trying to figure out if there was another door somewhere but completely closed with no sign. Rang the doorbell and knocked on doors too. read more

Found this place when looking for a bar close to the airport, I had friends with me who were heading back to LAX. Parking: There is a parking lot int the back with about 6 spots but there was easy street parking too. Drinks: Lots of different options of beers, I stopped drinking beers a while ago however when I ordered one, I was given samples of different kinds of beer to try. I ended up getting a darker German beer. Friend got a Saison and loved it. I really liked my craft cocktail. It was a blackberry smash cocktail. Will be back soon to try more of their cocktails. They also sell flights of beer. Interesting facts: Since it's a distillery there is a California law of only one cocktail per customer, per day. So choose your drink wisely. I had the black berry smash vodka cocktail, it was great!! Rob Rubens may start selling their beers in Bev Mo stores! When we left a pianist came in and started playing Don't stop believing. Went in for the free tour but apparently you have to call? Oh well we went thru the speakeasy door (don't pick your nose in front of the mirror! Lol) sat down at the bar and had 1 drink each. They don't have any local craft beer and only serve their spirits. Both our drinks were good, the atmosphere is lovely inside and very cozy. Staff is also pleasant and passionate about the drinks - it really shows. Parking on the street in an industrial part of El Segundo. A nice hidden gem to scope out if you're in the area but I wouldn't seek t out. read more

Happened to stumble upon this absolute gem and could not have been more impressed. If you're in the LAX area and looking for a great drink and amazing overall experience this is your place. We were immediately impressed by the bartender on duty, Jeffery. The way he handles the customers, takes his time in explaining the drinks and correct ways to consume them, pulling up a chair to take your order, I could go on and on. Next to the warehouse production area with stills and barrels, the tasting room is an unsuspecting little night club. Making eight whiskies plus rum, gin, vodka, and schnapps, the distiller tries to run a range of styles. It's hard to be an expert across so many varieties, but among the three whiskeys we tried, key identifying components were successfully added to each plus a little something odd. The bourbon was mild but without wood charring. The "Blue Corn Bourbon" was done like a sweet Canadian version. The single malt whiskey was off due to the toffee and bitter rubber tire smoke. Not a full-fledged bar, they must adhere to "tasting room" laws which meant only three half-ounce pours in a tasting flight. Like any small producers, buying a bottle to take home is expensive at $50 and higher for 750ml. read more

Cool spot in the cut, decent beers. Didn't get to try the liquor, not sure if there are certain times to come for distillery tasting, but I'm not complaining. I wouldn't mind coming back again, classy spot! UPDATE: ask about tasting the liquor, you get one a visit. They have cocktails on peak nights. Sick spot friendly staff. read more

DO NOT COME HERE FOR COCKTAILS: So this is a "tasting room" and they are limited to one 1.5 oz pour of alcohol per person. I should've know to bounce once I heard that but I dropped 30$ on two of the worst cocktails I've had out at a bar in LA in the past 10 years. God bless the kind bartender, who was more of a server than a bartender, but he couldn't even stir with a standard bar spoon. He could see us watching him stir and even made a joke about being right handed. But my man couldn't event stir correctly with the right hand . O well - he's clearly not been trained for this. Pass on this spot if you're in the area and head to Sausal for a proper cocktail or the Purple Orchid for an awesome dive bar experience. read more

Went there when it first opened. It was a mess. Now almost a year and a half later...still a mess. Their beer choices consisted of an IPA, a double IPA, another double IPA and a Pilsner, that should been a pale ale... Their alcohol has gotten better but they still put out a product that isn't as cohesive as it should be. Everything feels rushed out. Again their alcohol has improved. But it's still in need of work. I want this place to be good, so far, not so much. read more

Came here on a Sunday afternoon with 4 friends for an afternoon delight, little did I know before coming that you are limited to one spirit cocktail a person (you can have as many beers as you'd like) but with me not being a beer drinker, this wasn't my place. I guess you can buy an annual membership for privilege to drink more than one cocktail per visit but not worth it in my opinion considering you still would have to pay for the membership + cocktails when you come. All of us were moderately hungry and they do not serve food or appetizers, just some bar nuts that you can buy as well as cheese and pretzels and maybe a few other bagged snacks. Our bill was $90 for 4 cocktails, 1 beer and some of the bagged snacks. Probably won't be back. Also, there was only one bartender and she was paying attention mostly to the people who had memberships. I'd suggest trying this spot out at least once to see if it's your cup of tea or not. In theory this place was rad but my experience was not as good as I expected. read more

The speakeasy you walk into just a few steps away from where the magic happens, you walk in and see the brewing equipment on one side and the bar on the other. The bar area is set up so well that once you've entered it feels like you've been transported back in time. The bartender was very courteous and immediately we felt like usuals. The atmosphere was wonderful and we enjoyed the quick tour. The owner was very approachable and had a nice conversation with everyone doing the tour. It was a good experience. Went to R6 for the first time for their 7th anniversary and was incredibly unimpressed. They were short staffed and out of most of their beverages well before the night was over. They had live music and a burlesque performance, the emcee made a joke of the burlesque dancer over the microphone at her expense. It was incredible tacky and In bad taste. They also had the burlesque performance outside on the street, rather than inside in the intimate tasting room. Terrible experience. Won't go back. read more

The drinks were sooo good! We tried the Daisy and Creamsicle. Meredith was super helpful with what drinks to get! You can only get one drink per person per visit. But the beers have no limit! Definitely recommend this place! read more

Love, love, love!! This place is so cool. Located in the industrial part of El Segundo, you walk up and see all the brewing equipment. I had to ask where the tap room was. You walk through the brewing area, and step out of time. Like stepping into another era. Speakeasy themed, cozy, dark warm woods, crimson velvet curtains, large rich rugs, proper glassware for whiskeys, mixed drinks, and amazing beer! I have had their beer many times at various gastropubs around Los Angeles, and now I have experienced their concept at the brewery. Bartenders were super nice and knowledgeable. Different little Brewery because the fun doesn't stop with the beer, you have home distilled spirits and bartenders who will mix up an interesting drink with a variety of gin, whiskey, vodka etc. The space is very small though, which keeps it intimate and the bartenders were super friendly whereas I can definitely see a place like this being stuffy or pretentious which it is not. There are two bars, one focused on beer and the other, spirits. I tried their craft IPA which was delicious and will be back for the distilled options. Would love to come by when there is a live band or something of the sort, when we went, a band was just packing up and it seems like a nice little spot to have a drink and sip something tasty. They also have some board/card games to play so you can entertain yourself while you drink in case the company you keep isn't up for conversation. read more

You walk in to a brightly lit, modern micro brewery - complete with huge, metal vats of beer and people selling tacos. Then you turn a corner and you're back in the Prohibition Era in a crowded, dimly lit room with a red velvet ceiling, all vying to get the barkeep's attention before all the whiskey is gone! The ambience could not get any cooler. Unfortunately when I came they had ran out of whiskey! Just like in the Prohibition days! Lol! I didn't mind too much because they still had beer. The speakeasy decor is done very well. We had just missed the band but the place was still "poppin." Everything was a little pricier than I'd like but this place is definitely worth checking out! read more

So ... we all decided to celebrate a work milestone recently, and found this place on yelp. I will say this. Its close to work and its clean. However. We all went in to have a nice time, and we were barely greeted by some fat guy ... #033? Really? I get the whole 'speakeasy' theme, but does this allow for him to be a complete incompetent? Our group of 10 sat down at an otherwise empty place ... save for 3 middle-aged ladies at the bar ... and waited, I kid you not ... 30 min to get a drink. In that time, we got to hear about his fast commute from Hollywood via motorcycle and the fact that he is an actor. To which ... one of our group, after hearing him 'brag' about said 'acting" ... "I wish he'd act like a bartender!" So, we all finally get drinks and then, as we watch him 'flirt' with the ladies at the bar ... members of our group order more drinks ... beers, namely. He decides to tell us that we are limited. That we have had too much. What?! All the while, he's pouring his 'girlies' whatever they want and taking more than a few 'tasters' himself... as he explained to them .. 'To make sure it is still fresh.' Honestly... for a little place like this ... would it be so hard to keep up the quality control??? We all agreed that he was put off by having to actually deal with bartending more than 3 people. Needless to say ... no one from our work will be coming back... which is a shame ... because we are just 5 min away. Whatever the fat-actor-guy's name is? I wouldn't hire him. I love finding hidden gems. This Distillery/Brewery is a fun 'speakeasy' in the middle of El Segundo's up-and-coming trendy Smokey Hollow section of town. We visited through a Groupon and took an informative tour. We were shown how the owners made several spirits and ales and given samples of whiskies and beer, all made on the premises. We were impressed by the high quality and no-bs approach to creating finely crafted products. The 'speakeasy' is a nifty bar that has the feel of a Prohibition-era bar. You can order several varieties of beer, mixed drinks, or straight shots-- bourbon, whiskey, rum, vodka, and gin. I particularly liked the smokey bourbon and wheat-based whiskey that had a vanilla flavor. On some nights, you'll find food cooked to order, including superb tacos on the night we visited. This place is really neat and unique. Cool bar in the back of a brewery with select spirits. Relaxed atmosphere with delicious beer. Only the most trendy and "in the know" of LA come here. If you're looking for a good drink on any night of the week, this is your place. My favorite of their beers if the Valentine Massacre, which is a delicious strawberry wheat ale unlike anything you'll try. The next closest competitor is the Hit man on Caffeine, which is a toasty German Altbier with a topping of Cold Brew on top. A drink not great for bedtime. But a must try! read more

History

Established in 2014.

On May 24,1926 the six Rubens brothers opened the doors to what became known as the Rubens Rialto Square Theatre. A major undertaking in a small city at the time, the Rubens brothers hired a pair of Chicago-based architects, C.W. and George L. Rapp to execute their vision for a theatre that would rival any in the major cities. The result was a magnificent European inspired structure with an ornate exterior, and art filled decorum inside and out. Rob Rubens (4th generation) has always been amazed by what his family accomplished as entrepreneurs. The many stories Rob heard growing up, about the theatre during the Roaring 20's and prohibition days, inspired Rob to leave the corporate world and continue the Rubens family tradition of taking your vision and making it reality.

Rob fell in love with the mystery and art of distillation after his first (and unplanned) trip to Old New Orleans Rum Distillery. He knew it was time for a change. After spending the better part of a decade in corporate America and realizing that was not his path, Rob started visiting plenty of distilleries and breweries, and decided it was time to make waves. Coupling his experience with the desire to bring quality spirits to Los Angeles, Rob decided to open this speakeasy inspired distillery for everyone to enjoy. In all of his spare time (joke), Rob loves to hike, sky dive, attempt the piano, and regain his sanity via traveling the world. Prior to founding R6, Rob ambitiously completed his undergraduate studies in 2.3 years, achieving designation as Summa Cum Laude and his Graduate Degree with distinction. The storyteller was welcoming, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable. I really enjoyed learning about the history of alcohol and the stories behind each tasting. The cocktails were definitely on the stronger side, but you could tell they were crafted with high-quality ingredients. Unfortunately, our experience was somewhat tainted by our hostess. She came across as impatient and unwelcoming, which set the tone early on. When we first entered, we were each handed a small glass of liquid, and then she immediately walked away without explaining what it was or what we were supposed to do with it. We assumed it was a welcome drink, so we all took a sip only to discover it was actually a palate cleanser. A little guidance would have gone a long way. The next room had a beautiful bayou-inspired setting. While the historical information was interesting, I found myself wishing the experience leaned more into the mystical or magical themes that the venue seems to promise. One thing worth mentioning is the restroom setup. I don't mind coed restrooms, but there was no signage explaining that the restroom is shared with two open stalls. Some guests may appreciate a heads-up, especially those who might feel uncomfortable or triggered by that arrangement. After the tastings, you're taken outside. A few of us stopped to use the restroom first, and when we returned, our friend had already left the table and all of our drinks had been cleared away. We were disappointed because we hadn't finished them. Our friend had been told she couldn't take the drinks with her, but when we returned we could take them outside. She was told that they'd be there when we got back. We were disappointed. The outdoor portion of the experience also felt a bit rushed. We barely had time to enjoy our drinks, let alone take photos of the beautiful space. The beignets at the end, however, were absolutely delicious and a highlight of the evening! Finally, we were escorted to the members-only bar, which was stunning. It gave off major Harry Potter vibes with its hidden, magical atmosphere. One of my friends was still finishing her drink on the patio since we couldn't legally walk on the sidewalk with it. Our hostess told us she'd come back for us but she never did. After waiting quite a while, another staff member happened to walk by and kindly helped us. Once inside, everything turned around again. The bartender was warm, friendly, and helped us choose drinks off the menu. I ordered the piña colada, and while it was much stronger and different from the traditional version I'm used to, it was absolutely delicious!!! Despite some service issues and inconsistent communication, I would still recommend Obscure. The concept is unique, the cocktails are excellent, and the venue is truly one of a kind. I'm hoping our hostess was simply having an off day, because with more attentive service, this experience could easily be five stars.

They are reasonably priced at $12-$15, depending on the protein you choose. I saw the guy make it fresh for me right after taking my order. Took around 7-8 mins to be done. My boyfriend and I ate our burritos outside at one of the benches. They were HOT, right off the grill. The tortilla is really great, nice and soft however, a nice grill on the outside would have been nice. They are good solid burritos but nothing particularly special. I wish the hash browns were a bit crispier and the house salsa had more pizazz to it. But it was regular ol' salsa. My boyfriend really liked their saying "in burritos we trust" and their little logo of the burrito. They had shirts for sale and we asked about it. My boyfriend would have definitely bought one if they had one in his size but they were sold out :( I would come back to Phannys if I'm in the area looking for a good burrito and for the shirt. (My way of saying pls restock) But I would not go out of my way to get it.

Pleasantly surprised when my husband made the connection. The 2 guys working easily answered my questions about Stone Cold. He does pop in once every three months and they reported he is a nice guy. With that said, this place has a cute little outdoor area. My husband said their beer was good. I tried their seltzer but the one flavor wasn't for me. Nice place in a cute area. Would visit again but they need some food.

Rob Rubens has quickly risen up the ranks to become one of my favorite craft breweries. The fact that they're a distillery as well is even more reason to love it. Located in a more industrial section of El Segundo, it can easily go unnoticed if you're not looking for it. Which is probably fitting since their motif is that of Prohibition in the early 1900's. To reach the tasting room you must first walk through the brewery/distillery until you reach a dark doorway which leads to a very cool speakeasy. I've had the pleasure of speaking with 2 of their bartenders, Sam and Ryan. Both are extremely nice gentlemen; friendly and easy to talk to. Their beer selection isn't as extensive as some other local breweries but I did like the variety of offerings they had. My personal favorite is the "Valentine's Day Massacre", which is a strawberry wheat beer. Light & refreshing, easy to drink. Onto their spirits! I've sampled gin, vodka, and whiskey. All of them offer unique tastes. While I'm usually a whiskey fan, my personal favorite was their vodka. Smooth and easy to drink neat. Since it's a tasting room and not a bar, they will only allow you to order 1 shot of your choice. (I know, bummer right?) Of course, taste is subjective so I recommend sampling them all and deciding for yourself. They also make some interesting cocktails using their own spirits! Please note!! A shot of their spirits is available any day but they only serve cocktails on Friday's and Saturday's. As I stating before, the bartenders are really friendly and probably won't turn you down if you ask for one, but often times there's only 1 bartender working and the cocktails are time-consuming. This puts them in a bind since it delays them from taking care of every other patron. If you plan on visiting on any other day besides Friday or Saturday, keep your drink order simple like a "gin & tonic". Or just stick to beer. The tasting room isn't large and so I'm not sure this is a good spot for large groups. They have 2 bars; a larger beer bar and a smaller spirits bar. The decor has a lot of dark hard-woods and shiny brass/copper. It gives the whole place a feel of old-time classiness. I just wish they had some old jazz or ragtime playing in the background to give it that authentic 1920's feel. There isn't much in the way of food offerings but they do keep a basket of random snack food behind the bar (nuts, jerky, etc) Great beers, great spirits, awesome atmosphere. A group of 14 of our friends purchased Travel Zoo coupons for bourbon tastings & charcuterie @ R6. We thought it would be a fun way to spend the afternoon. Wow! We were sooo disappointed! There were so many RULES and Regulations, that we had an awful time, and could not wait to get out of there. The lady who waited on us was very unpleasant and treated us like unwelcome children! None of us will ever go back, and we would not recommend it to anyone who wants to have a good time or be treated nicely. Just an example: the 7th couple had decided to join us a week before we went. Because we didn't call R6 to tell them we would have 14 instead of 12....they would not honor their voucher! read more

Hidden spot, the moment you walk in, straight into the working brewery the malt and hops hit you. Great beers, and surprisingly also a small range of craft gins they make on site. And pop back on the couch and grab a giant jenga. Knowledgeable staff happy to guide you through each and every beer they have in offer.
