Would have been nice to put this on their answering machine. Made the trip all the way out here , even bought a groupon deal for this winery. We live in LA as well..

From their website (Maria, Sarah, Brice and Joanne) great picture of all.

Went for the pickup party this weekend. Members get a wide variety of free food which included sausages from Cauycos Sausages which were just excellent and then Maria's homemade tamales. We have been wine club members since 2009 and the Rabbit Ridge Winery has brought us into their family. We love Joanne and Erich and now Sarah (Joanne's daughter) and Brice (Sarah's fiance) are there and more involved with the winery). If you want to pay five times more for wine that will pale in comparison to some of their wines such as the Ole which came out last year or the Allure Reserve then by all means go ahead and do so. I personally would rather enjoy a truly spectacular wine that I didn't have to sell a kidney to purchase. If you have a chance go to San Miguel (around 7 minutes north of Paso Robles) visit the Rabbit Ridge winery and see the immense barrels they have for the wines they sell to Trader Joes. If you want to try first go buy a Trader Joes and get an Allure de Robles for less that $6 and open it and you will see why you should go to the winery on the next visit. I absolutely adore Joanne and her family and wish I could spend more than just the brief visits with her talking and laughing over a glass of some of the best wine in Paso Robles area.

Friendly folks. Beautiful tasting room adjoining their storage and processing area. Confusing with three different brands on the labels Russell, Rabbit Ridge and Serrano, 10 wines sampled (3 whites, seven reds). No wines purchased because Rabbit Ridge price points were not comparable to the product found elsewhere and it is carried by Trader Joe's. The pinot was made in a huge fruit forward style much more like a zin, with nearly no acid. Odd approach to pinot. Wines were more like the typical bulk wine providers. Rabbit wine glasses were purchased.

I'm sure there are a lot of great wineries in the Paso Robles area, but we prefer Rabbit Ridge. We bought our first bottle from a local grocery store in Sacramento, Nugget Market. They were having a sale on Rabbit Ridge's Allure de Robles and my husband was hooked! We made a detour out to Rabbit Ridge since it was on our way home from our honeymoon. We didn't plan to go wine tasting, but the thrill knowing our favorite wine was so close just screamed fun! The drive there was interesting. We weren't sure if our GPS was taking us to the right place. It led us onto a long dirt road, but we found out later, there is also a paved road that leads up to the winery in the other direction. We were greeted by Julee who was very sweet and knowledgeable. We sampled several wines in the cutest wine glass I've ever seen! What I loved was how generous they were with the wines. A lot of places will let you taste up to three wines and then you pay for the rest. There was a $5.00 charge for the very cute Rabbit Ridge glass which came with the tasting, or the $10.00 stemless wine glass also very cute. Our favorites are Allure de Robles and Bunny Cuvee. If we wanted to re-sample another wine, she didn't hesitate to pour. The wine tasting room is part of their warehouse. They had a large variety of wine for tasting. They also offer extra virgin olive oil, but when we went there ran out of crackers which we didn't mind since we were there to taste the wines. If you join the wine club you do get some really great deals. This wine is delicious, but I'm no wine connoisseur so you'll have to try it out yourself . We ended up joining the wine club and buying a case of Bunny Cuvee and receiving our wines for joining the wine club. Can't wait to get our shipment coming out in October.

The history alone is enough to get you through the door, but the wine is what keeps you there. Pair the tasting with all the stories behind the winery, and it's easily one of the more interesting experiences in Paso. The staff is also incredibly friendly and makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. The patio is a beautiful spot to taste, and if you're there later in the day, the sunset views are hard to beat. Definitely do the free cave tour while you're there. It's one of the coolest winery tours I've been on. The caves are a massive labyrinth carved into the hillside and naturally stay around 55 degrees year round, which is where they age a lot of their wine before bottling. Even if you've been to a lot of wineries, this is something a little different. At the time I'm writing this, tastings are still complimentary, which is almost unheard of these days. If you go, do them a favor and leave with a bottle or two. That's how places like this are able to keep offering experiences like this, and honestly, you'll probably want to take some wine home anyway.

LXV is especially known for pairing wine with custom spice and flavor experiences that complement the tasting. The cheeses are coated with the different blends of LXV's own herbs and spices, adding a unique layer of flavor to each tasting. I highly recommend checking them out.

Our first stop when we arrived in Paso. We've been to so many wineries, this would be one of our top 10. The spice pairing is unique but pairs so well with the wine. Buy 3 bottles to waive the fee. Since it's more of boutique, the bottles are quite pricey, mostly ranging near the 100s. But it was our favorite the whole weekend we went there. And we bought 6 bottles. We loved the spell and got 3 bottles of that! It's a Syrah cab blend. Has the Paso flavor that we love. It's not a vineyard, just a tasting room but worth a visit. We met the wine maker too. Friendly and attentive service. Can't wait to pop open a bottle at home soon!

What we didn't expect was to be completely blown away. The facility is on the smaller side without a lot of frills, but honestly that's part of the charm. The staff are warm and genuine, and you can feel their pride in both the winery and the wines they produce. The focus here is on GSM blends and other Rhône varietals, along with Bordeaux blends and varietals -- big, bold, and fruit-forward, but balanced enough to keep things interesting glass after glass. We had such a great experience that we joined the wine club before we left. We don't live locally, but the Ecluse Enthusiast membership is absolutely worth it -- especially with only a 6-bottle annual commitment. It's given us a great reason to make Paso an annual trip, and Ecluse is always one of our must-stop favorites. Since joining, the winery has gone through some exciting changes. They've built out a beautiful terrace overlooking the vineyard, and they were acquired by Thibido Winery. We were a little nervous about what that might mean for the brand we loved, but they've stayed true to keeping both labels separate and distinct -- and we've only benefited from it, since we now get to taste wines from both when we come for our annual pickup. We can't wait to spend more time on that terrace during our next visit. If you're putting together a Paso Robles wine itinerary, Ecluse deserves a spot on it.

The grounds are gorgeous, the sculptures throughout the property are genuinely impressive, and the music and scene were a great backdrop. The wine itself seemed perfectly decent. But the experience on the ground was bad enough that none of that mattered by the time we left. We didn't have a reservation, that's on us. But the website says reservations are recommended, not required, so we figured we'd try anyway. From the moment we walked in, it was clear we weren't wanted. The hostess hustled us into a side room, then walked off, at which point a server immediately told me -- not pleasantly -- that I was standing in the wrong place. When I asked about a few wines I was interested in, I was met with a clear lack of interest, capped off by being rudely told to just get a glass of muscat, like the suggestion was as much about getting rid of me as it was a recommendation. So that's what we did, and then we left. We tasted at several other wineries in Paso Robles that day and had wonderful experiences at every one of them. Staff who were warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely happy to have us, reservation or not. Sculpterra was the only stop where we walked away having spent next to nothing, and it's the only place on the entire trip we'll never go back to, no matter how nice the grounds are. Beautiful property, but the people working the floor that day made it clear they didn't want our business, so we obliged.
