Unprofessional, Unreliable, and Unethical - Avoid This Office I rarely leave reviews, but my experience with this dermatology office has been unbelievably frustrating. They have rescheduled my appointments three different times because it wasn't convenient for their doctors -- often at the last minute and on the same day. I was understanding each time and adjusted my schedule accordingly. However, when I needed to move my child's appointment (also on the same day), I was told I'd be charged a $100 fee. What makes this even worse is that one of their receptionists actually agreed to move it without a fee -- only for me to later be billed anyway. This kind of inconsistency and lack of accountability is unfair, unprofessional, and unethical. It's astonishing that a medical practice feels entitled to change appointments whenever it suits them, yet penalizes their patients for the same thing. If you value reliability, integrity, and respect for your time, go elsewhere. I have been coming here for many years for annual skin tests which have always been wonderful here. The last few years I have been coming to Dr. Westbay. She is truly amazing! I began to also do Botox, lips and different types of skin treatments with her. Ever since I gave birth, my skin was no longer smooth, I had a lot of acne and rosacea and all kinds of imperfections on my skin. Dr. Westbay really helped me improve my skin! Another annual Dermatology Exam. I'm not going to reiterate details that I wrote in my previous reviews. I've been going annually. The service I receive has improved over time. Wait time is minimal both in the waiting room and naked sitting on the table waiting for the doctor to arrive. I can't say enough about how kind the doctors assistant is. Wonderful patient listener. They take detailed notes on a tablet and photos for their records too. As for my Doctor of choice Doctor Berliner she's the best in my opinion. She's very very thorough. She puts you at ease and takes her time. She's gentle treating your body respectfully. I'm very glad I found her. The Marmur Medical operation for appointments and payments has been very convenient. I haven't had an issue with inappropriate billing. They take Medicare. Any additional costs have been minimal. If you're in need of a Dermatologist and/or a treatment center, I highly recommend Marmur and Doctor Berliner. They have a wide array of services in addition to the type of care and screening I'm interested in. You may enjoy visiting with them as much as I do. They are award winning! read more

I went for a scar treatment. I got there and the doctor looked at it and said they did not have the laser needed to treat the scar. The whole thing took less than 5 mins. I was charged $250 for the visit despite them doing no work on me at all. The director of billing was incredibly rude and condescending. Belittled me for not having health insurance. Yesterday I saw Dr. Hysem Eldik and it was my best doctors visit ever!!!! Very knowledgeable, friendly and detailed. He went as far as to write down my entire skin and hair care regimen by hand for me. Oh I just loved his energy. I left the office feeling very confident that my needs were met. I visited Marmur Medical in February of this year to have a spot on my forehead examined after noticing some irregularities. I can't remember the doctor's name but she glanced at the spot for 5 seconds and told me that it was nothing, just a little burst blood vessel and then proceeded to spend 10 minutes talking about her upcoming wedding to which the nurse in the room kept rolling her eyes at, and then proceeded to talk negatively about the doctor when she left the room! terrible experience and now 10 months later after finally going for a second opinion I learned that the spot is cancerous. very disappointed in myself that I took that doctors word as good instead of pressing her to further examine/biopsy the mark. read more

Dr. Rachel Maiman did a great good removing the cyst in my underarm. The only complaint I have is they kept my credit card information and billed my card without sending me the statement or letting me know. When I did receive the bill, it was half of what they billed. Seems unethical. I wouldn't recommend going there, unless you want to get scam. read more

Here's a shout out to Lena, an extremely competent nurse at the practice. My experience with her was pleasant, actually enjoyable as she is so compassionate, humorous, as well as very knowledgeable. I recently decided to splurge from my normal Groupon/Gilt City coupons, and treated myself to an IPL facial with Dr. Levin. Her team was friendly (not stuffy) and on time! The space (new office on Park Ave.) was sheek, clean, and super close to the subway. There was a time where I used a Groupon for an IPL facial that felt like someone was splattering scalding french fry oil all over my face... but Dr. Levin and her staff was able to put a nice numbing cream and zapped my face with absolutely NO PAIN. Dr. Levin spoke to me throughout the process, informing me of what she was doing and making sure I was comfortable. My skin is radiant! It's a bit pricey, but the kindness and professional quality of the staff, Dr. Levin, and environment made it all worth it. read more

Ellen Marmur has been discriminatory and hateful and aggressively pushes her products on me. The office has double billed me in the past. Additionally, when I had a cosmetic laser procedure, the office charged me both for the laser procedure AND for a full medical visit because Dr Marmur spent about 1 minute at the end of the laser procedure asking her assistant to call in a Rx, which I'd previously told her I had a bad reaction to, nonetheless. Walked in and thought "no way can I afford this." Clean, beautiful, calming space. And totally conscious of your insurance needs and budgets. Say what?!?! I have seen another dermatologist in the city (who was atrocious) so my spirit was broken a bit. But this place was perfect from start to finish. Personable staff, saw to me immediately, kind and informative. A nurse came and took my skin history (thorough) and I waited two minutes to be seen by the doctor. The doctor was kind and extremely thorough. We went through absolutely everything. Regimen, birth control options, explanation of the hormones behind it all, and a new game plan. A good holistic approach to everything. My favourite but was when we talked about prescriptions: "Acne medications can be expensive. I never want you to pay more than $50 for anything. If anyone ever tries to get you to pay more, call us immediately. We'll find a way to make it affordable." How amazing is that?????? They told me multiple times they would work with what I had to find a solution. They even had me call my insurance with specific questions so I was more informed about my own healthcare plan. This place is a disaster. The admins behind the computers are very rude and seem like they're fed a script, only concerned with billing you the most possible. I have been getting the same treatment from them for over 6 months and every time I get to the desk after my appointment they try to bill me some new price. It's comical at this point and I'm always in defense mode when I get there. Beware of the assistants who come into the room with you. They're really spies who just wait to see if you ask the doctor any question they can deem "billable" during those 60 seconds of attention the doctor gives you before rushing to their next patient. During the early summer I went to Marmur medical to have a Forever Young Broad Band Light (BBL) Treatment. This treatment when performed correctly is both affordable and a total game changer - huge bang for the buck. I have had this procedure done several times previously at my regular dermatologist over the last two years but decided to try Marmur Medical once I permanently relocated to Manhattan. The treatment's benefits are cumulative and really have an extraordinary effect/impact on skin texture, elasticity and diminution of fine lines when the correct number of treatments are performed - and each treatment is performed correctly. The procedure is performed with a Sciton laser and Sciton provides guidance to the medical provider on the proper technique for the Forever Young broad band light treatment (i.e, the specific areas of the face to be treated, prescribed number of passes, number of pulses during each pass, overlap areas, etc.). What I received at Marmur Medical was a 6 minute drive-by without any regard to the published Sciton technique for the Forever Young BBL treatment. Having had this done several times previously elsewhere, I was shocked when I was told by the P.A. who performed the treatment that the treatment had been completed. Total waste of time and money - I would never have this done here again. Extremely disappointing. read more

Beware that if you make an appointment you will not necessary see a physician. A physician assistant with limited medical knowledge will be the one prescribing and treating you Aleut limited experience and not a medical degree. Normally a physician supervises the PA but a physician will not be to found at the location. The staff is not nice and very bill happy. They will collect 300 dollars for you to walk in the door and bill your insurance for I am not sure of what service. Lovely people, but I found the office to be a bit disorganized. Recently, my regular dermatologist (not at Marmur) has gone strictly cosmetic so she no longer accepts insurance due to her booming cosmetic business generated by her celeb clientele. I was looking for a new doctor to perform the services that I get that are covered by insurance who I could also start to bring my cosmetic business (fillers, fraxel, emsculpt, etc) to as well as I trusted them more and more I had a virtual consultation with Marmur Medical and all went well, they accepted my insurance, and I scheduled an in person appointment for hyperhidrosis treatment. Upon arrival for the appointment, I learned that Marmur's policy is to refuse to submit this treatment through insurance because it utilizes Botox, despite the fact that it is insurance covered, and I offered to contact the insurance co and get prior authorization. They expected me to pay out of pocket, and then submit my own paperwork to the insurance co for reimbursement. I'm looking to streamline my dermatological treatments, not to be someone's unpaid secretary. It would not be a big deal if this was a one time thing, but I would have to go through this hassle every 3-4 months. They also should've disclosed this prior to me arriving at the appointment, as opposed to wasting my time. Why would I lay out $1,500 for something covered by insurance? I'm certainly not opposed to paying that or more for cosmetic services, but I'm not going to pay for no reason and then have to fight an uphill battle with my insurer because I don't have the leverage that a whole office does. I found the whole interaction to be unprofessional, and so I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Truly disappointed with how sloppily this was handled by Marmur. read more

I came here for check ups and an intracel treatment. Dr Jamie Glick is a great doctor. My experiences are the following, I waited over an hour with numbing cream on my face to find the machine is broken. I took the day off from work, and actually had won tickets to a show that night that I turned away. So it was a bummer, but nothing to get upset about. Because things happen. Second go around, I waited 2 hours for the treatment. A little long to wait when you're suppose to sit there for an hour only. They offered me a 100 dollars off to try the treatment, and another 100 off because of my bad experience. Great, but the treatment was 850, so shouldn't it have costed 650? I was billed 750? I didn't complain because I was happy to have it done. But I was okay with it UNTILL. I was given two scripts, I spoke with a Nicole who clearly wasn't listening to me. I called three times, spoke to her twice. CVS called twice as well. I was there when they called. Nicole stayed CVS never called her. (1st lie), fine, it's okay. I wasn't upset yet. She sent my script to another pharmacy, which called back to say it wasn't approved by my insurance. This I already knew bc CVS told me. I attempted to tell Nicole this and she wasn't having it. I also attempted to tell her CVS has a script that is an alternative and is covered. Why not just switch it over? Nicole claimed they never called and she was going to call. Did she call? Nope. She didn't. I had to explain to her multiple times because she wasn't listening. She stated she would call when she wasn't busy, I said fine. I asked what time do you close. She replied 7PM. At 6:50, I called CVS who said Nicole never called. I gave CVS the contact information to the office that was OPEN to call but 5 mins to 7, it went straight to voicemail stating they were closed. My last straw wasn't when Nicole was rude, it was her lying and saying she would call when she wasn't busy and never did. Tomorrow is day three, and I still haven't received my script for an infection!!!!! This is ridiculous. Definitely calling my pcp at this point for the script. I dont think it's wise to let a infection go untreated. Update: after many calls, an email to their Instagram page and regular email. Dr. Glick personality called CVS. This shouldn't have had to be stressful or have taken so much of my time. The pharmacist also explained to the doctor that they did call the office and so on. I work 12 hour days outside of the city. If I wasn't able to pick it up today, no way I would have been able to pick up the script until Friday night. read more

I always get pimples on my nose when I'm stressed, but I woke up yesterday morning with a whopper of a pimple that was deep, hurt, warm to the touch, and much different than anything I had ever had before. Feeling desperate and in a lot of pain, I went to ZocDoc and booked a super-last minute appointment with Dr. Levin. When I arrived, the ambiance of the practice blew me away - I felt like I was in a spa, not a doctor's office! For reference, I went to the location on Park Avenue. I answered a few questions for a nurse about my skincare regimen and concerns, and waited for maybe 10 minutes before Dr. Levin saw me. She was knowledgeable, funny, and talked through my concerns with me in a way that made them feel valid. We chose to inject the pimple (along with a few others) with cortisone to help with swelling. The big one already looks and feels better. Along with the cortisone, we talked about a daily prescription medication (topical) for my acne. She recommended a moisturizer to go along, and to my surprise, it was from the drugstore and SO affordable. The medication was filled via a local pharmacy that will deliver it to me tomorrow. We also talked about some of my freckles and concerns, and she assured me they were definitely minor and nothing to worry about. I have never had major concerns with acne before and have never been to a dermatologist, but Dr. Levin still validated my concerns and helped me feel like they were worth treating (and that I wasn't overreacting!). I'm so happy with my experience at Marmur, especially with Dr. Levin, and I'll definitely be back if needed! read more

Dr. Maiman is the best dermatologist I've ever been to. Very scientifically minded and goes to great care to explain her rationale behind her prognostics. I knew I was in good hands with her; Dr. Maiman was able to diagnose with precision and even was able to name the common errors of less knowledgeable Derms that rang true with my experience. She is a consummate professional and the practice has an efficient system for getting you your skin care products and medicines. Her recommendations made my skin look better than ever before. Dr. Levin is by far my favorite doctor on the planet! She is friendly and helpful. I have had acne my whole life, but it has never been severe. I have gone to other doctors who make me feel like "Why is she complaining, people have it much worse." Dr. Levin is the complete opposite. She understands that the acne I do have bothers me and that the rosacea I have needs to be figured out. She gave me a simple home regime and even recommended moisturizer and face cleanser from drug store. I am on a pill, two different topical creams, and cerave moisturizer with and without sun block. My face has never been better! We are experimenting with medication so I see her every six weeks. I love going... my husband and I like her so much he comes with me and we chat it up! Today I had a rather large pimple she injected with cortizone and its like gone. The office staff is amazing too! The nurse Natasha has been sweet and helpful. This place somehow pops up everywhere as THE BEST dermatologist, which two years later is how I arrived here, giving one measly star. I have been there four times over the last two years for medical, cosmetic and annual check-ups, and can't say I've experienced the bare minimum of what I would call satisfactory...except with Dr. Levine, who is no longer there. The only time I actually met the infamous Dr. Marmur was before a Clear and Brilliant treatment - I asked opened ended questions while she was looking at her iPad and she completely disregarded them, was visibly inattentive and then left the room. Not the best first (and only) impression. Most recently I was there for two random spots that had developed (Panic!). When making the appt via phone, the representative asked what it looked like and I alerted her it looked like a scar/burn. When I arrived Dr. Glick said she had been informed it was a burn and had setup treatments - I informed her was not the case. All the conversation was from me - she had no inquiries regarding these two random spots, nonetheless did not reciprocate any of the smalltalk I was trying to engage in or even crack a smile. Awkward turtle! The spots were GLANCED at and a determination was made - probably nothing (97%), but come back in six weeks. Never did the annual check-up come up (as it was well over 1 year) and not even mention of a previous mole that Dr. Levine wanted to keep an eye on. Also, one of the spots, I asked if it could spread, she said "potentially." That was it. It is my pointer finger so I asked if I should put contacts in, face lotion....makeup on...she said try not to use that finger. Wow. I mean, I think that is the utmost important information to disclose. Unless I asked I would have walked out of there not even knowing if it could spread and potentially walked in 6 weeks later with a much bigger problem. When asking about the facial lasers, Clear + Brilliant, they turned it right back at me - "well how did you like it?" which provides me with zero point zero information when trying to compare C+B, which I have had, to other treatments, which I have not. These things are expensive (and lets not forget, it is my face we're talking about here)! From such a highly recommended place (this magazine, that magazine) I would expect to get expert level advice and five minutes of attention. Re: their payment system - maybe I am just unlucky, but two out of the four times they double charged me. They once had charged me for two Clear and Brilliant treatments, instead of one, which for some reason took months of them sending invoices and me calling to finally have it removed. This time I paid my co-pay, but low and behold I received two receipts one minute apart. #billingblues This place gets the prestige in many magazines, but from start to finish from my four visits, it doesn't deserve it!! read more

I was referred to Dr. Marmur when I found out I had a common form of skin-cancer that needed to be removed. With a few exceptions throughout the years, I have been in good health and have never been worried or anxious about a medical procedure. However, with this particular situation, I was incredibly nervous. I am so glad I was referred to Dr. Marmur, because my experience was unparalleled. The office is beautiful; it's modern, light and airy. You're greeted by a very friendly and accommodating staff behind the counter, and asked to wait in a waiting room filled with Keurig machines, magazines, complementary iPad's with ample seating that makes you feel more like you're in a (very luxurious) home than a doctor's office. When you're called back into a private room, one of the incredibly friendly medical assistants escorts you back and proceeds with all of the regular information gathering that usually happens before the doctor comes in to see you. I was especially impressed by how tech-savvy every thing in the office is. All of the assistants carry around iPads to input your information and document your visit with pictures (of areas of the skin you're seeking treatment for). Dr. Marmur is absolutely lovely; she's warm, friendly and made me feel very at ease throughout my consultation and procedure later on. I definitely got the sense that she was invested in my time wit her, and not treating me like just another name-less patient. The procedure to remove my basal-cell carcinoma was quick and painless. Although I was a bit nervous coming in, I left feeling like a friend had just taken good care of me. I followed post-op instructions and healed without any complications. I enjoyed my visit so much, I decided to make Dr. Marmur my dermatologist permanently. I've seen her a few times since my initial visit, and am continually impressed with her staff and her professionalism; she's also really nice! I legitimately cannot believe what an amazing practice this is. I've struggled with misdiagnosed skin issues and incorrect treatment for years. Dr. Maiman treated me with the utmost respect and listened to every concern I've had. I am very private and hate to admit any issues. Dr. Maiman was so understanding and respectful of me. When I had an issue with my prescription, she didn't everything she could to help me. She gave me her card and told me to email her anytime. Most doctors that offer that never follow through. Please do not use their services for any invasive surgery. I had something removed and contracted a very bad infection. I wound up in the hospital for five days. Jennifer Schloth, a physician's assistant, performed the procedure and did not give me enough of the numbing agent and I could feel her cutting me. I had to tell her two more times that I could still feel her cutting. I called and left a couple of messages before I went to the hospital and never received a return call until I called from the hospital and threatened the girl on the phone. Jennifer returned the call and I explained what happened and then she tells me she should have given me oral antibiotics instead of prescribing a topical antibiotic. I was released from the hospital with a catheter inserted. Not once did I receive a follow-up check-up call from Jennifer. To this day, I'm still in pain. This was a simple in-office procedure that turned into a terrible, painful experience. It's disappointing they are only about the money. read more

Dr. Marmur and Dr. Maiman are truly wonderful. I am a patient and I have referred my mother and many friends here for medical concerns as well as cosmetics. Fernando at the front is so accommodating every time we need to make an appt. even if it's last minute. We've never had to wait. My mom needed to be seen during Covid and the office protocols are better than any other office out there. Dr. Maiman took her time with my mom to address her concerns and answer all of her questions. Even after my mom left she remembered some questions and Dr. Maiman called her back and emailed immediately. She treated my mothers psoriasis (her skin looks great now) and Dr. Marmur has done mutiple Mohs surgeries for her. I have immediately fallen in love with this Dr's Office. From my initial phone call with Cynthia to make an appointment. She was pleasant and the process was easy. They call to confirm your appointment, again and unlike most Dr's receptionists, Cynthia was cheery and kind. Fernando greeted upon arrival, also polite and friendly. You immediately feel welcome in this office. The space itself, is stunning. It was spotless and well kept. I have been a patient of dr. Marmur for over seven years. I have never been moved to write a review but in this case I must. Dr marmur is so much more than a dedicated brilliant and talented medical professional. She has been following me for body checks as skin cancer runs in my family. I have also had her perform several cosmetic dermatological procedures including Botox and filler under my eyes. I was frightened initially regarding some cosmetic procedures as we have all seen those who have had too much...not the case with dr marmur. Each time I have had cosmetic work done within two weeks I always look like myself, just a bit fresher, so natural and so fabulous, never overdone or fake. Dr Marmur's staff and office are also exceptional. It is my first time visiting her since she opened her private office and to see so many of her staff follow her from Mount Sinai speaks volumes as to the quality of person she is...I have already praised her talent, brilliance dedication to her profession but the thing that makes her even more impressive is that she is truly one of the nicest most empathic and loveliest people you will ever hope to meet. Dear reader, I am posting here after reading a note written by someone who is clearly hiding behind a bogus identity. The ramblings of this person's post are long, rather incoherent and obtuse. So let me set the record straight. Firstly, Dr. Marmur is above reproach. I learned about Dr. Marmur and her passion for skin health & cancer avoidance reading her book, Simple Skin Beauty. Her philosophy is stunning. Coming from a family with a history of skin cancer, and someone active in outdoor sports, it's imperative I remain vigilant and aware of my skin and any changes. You cannot imagine my delight when Dr. Marmur announced that she was opening her new practice in Manhattan following a remarkable career at Mount Sinai Medical Center [arguably the leading dermatological institution in the world! I've been to the Upper East Side, Marmur Medical location several times. Never have I been disappointed, nor "sold" anything! Secondly, I think it important to share that I live full-time in Cape Cod, and travel to New York to see Dr. Marmur exclusively. The office is quiet, extremely well run, and professional. The staff and Dr. Marmur are helpful, engaging, and always clear about the best, most practical, ways to keep my skin in tip top health.
