Rachel's Kitchen is kind of well known to be what it is - a very affordable sandwich/salad/burger/pasta casual restaurant with quite a few healthy options along with juice and fruit smoothies. Their execution on their burgers could be better as the meat is somewhat bouncy to the bite (somewhat due to overcooking and what I suspect to be not the best quality meat). Their sandwiches are well varied and are quite delicious though. I honestly haven't had their pasta in a long time but I remember it being okay - the obvious is that going to a specialized Italian restaurant will get you better tasting pasta dishes. Their level of options and ability to turn sandwiches into wraps and such is always a welcome feature. Service is generally excellent with friendly staff. The wait times can get a little long when they're busy but that is a given with made to order food. read more

I had lunch with a friend today. I Put in my order of soup & 1/2 Turkey club sandwich. My friend & other diners got their order & put their orders in after me so I wondered why I hadn't gotten mine. I went to the counter & asked, the cashier apologized that my order was just being made (guess they forgot to put in my order)....I received it a few minutes later. The creamy mushroom soup was hot & delicious & my Turkey club on French bread was also tasty. I had coffee to drink... the coffee wasn't great, not as fresh or strong as I like... it was in thermos self-serve containers. The check was about $20. We went at 1 pm & the restaurant was still fairly busy. Rachel's is fine for a quick bite, cafeteria type ambiance. The District has FREE parking in front & back of the restaurants. read more

The cutest spot ever! Located in the District (which is a perfect spot) the place is on the smaller the but they have a cute patio with chairs. In the winter they pull out the heart warmers so it's still nice to eat outside! There's always a line but it goes pretty quick. You order and then take your number and the food usually comes out within 10 mins. Their food is always so fresh and so good. Some of my favorites their is their chicken ceaser salad, turkey club, and their wraps! They also have delicious juices and smoothies. The energizer juice is soooo good it's my current favorite. My only issue would the the birds outside. They are always hovering and usually just waiting for you to drop a piece of food. And most of the time plates are still left and haven't been picked up yet so the birds are having a hay day with it. read more

Ordered a tropical smoothie and a blueberry muffin. The muffin was hard as though it was sitting out all day and maybe even from the day before. The smoothie was bland. Not much taste as it was supposed to be tropical, but tasted more like banana. read more

We were in town this past weekend and came upon this wonderful shopping center where this quaint restaurant was located. Not many places were open but we were able to get a sitting spot in here and best part is they serve breakfast all day. The pasta and pancakes appeared premade and heated up. My small pasta order was $15 for noddles, sauce, peas and chewy sun-dried tomatoes. This place has gone down hill though the prices have gone up considerably. Especially for someplace that wants tips but makes you bus your own tables. If you're going to kick people out and threaten to call security for having a dog, you should let them know that's your policy as they're order their food for dine in service. Literally right as our food was delivered to our table we were told to leave because our small dog was not a service animal. It was pouring rain outside and our food was plated for indoors so we rushed to finish our salads. 5 minutes later told we need to leave or else security would come. The girl who kicked us out just told us to leave and we had to call after her to ask her to bring us to-go containers as she immediately walked away. everyone around us said the service we experienced was really weird as our dog was hiding under the booth and wasn't reacting, even to OTHER DOGS in the restaurant. I understand your policy for service animals and for not having animals due to allergies. However this should be communicated PRIOR to the transaction occurring so I'm fully aware of what I'm about to experience. We would have opted to eat elsewhere today and not eat my salad in the rain and cold outside. I saw the sign as we left. I had a nice lunch at Rachel's with a friend. My entree was a Chinese Chicken Salad and it was very good. It had a reasonable amount of Chicken breast and the right amount of Asian salad dressing. The ambiance is very casual. You order and pay at the counter, and the food is delivered to the table. The outside eating area is pretty bland but it was in the shade. The only downside is that birds constantly walk on untended tables and chairs. I would recommend it for a very casual lunch, but there are nicer, albeit more expensive, restaurants in The District. I would give it 3 1/2 stars. read more

Pigeon infestation!!!!!!!!! I've been eating at Rachel's since it opened and I love it. The food and service are always amazing at every location but recently at the Green Valley ranch location has been plagued by pigeons at it's outside seating and it's disgusting. I have eaten numerous times at Rachel's kitchen, but this time food was not good. My salad had been put in some kind of blender/ fine chopper before being served. It truly was inedible. I just left it. My friend had been given an enormous Turkey club sandwich. I helped him eat it. Bread was stale. We left a rather large amount of bread on the plate. First time coming here and I've been dying to try their food. I woke up hungover and decided "I really want some amazing French toast and bacon" and decided to call and see if they were open. A friendly woman answered the phone and took my order and boy were they fast! Only a 12 min wait and I live 15 min away I got there and they were busy with customers enjoying big green salads and thick sandwiches on the patio There was no wait for me to pick up! Even though I'm 15 min away I stopped at Starbucks to get coffee and when I got home MY FOOD WAS STILL WARM!!! They put their French toast in an aluminum Togo dish, like pasta places do Long story short, my French toast is to die for and my bacon is PERFECTLY cooked. They use really French bread for their French toast (the way it should be) and it's soft but not mushy :) They added plenty of napkins, silverware, butter and syrup. Went here the other day, workers were friendly; especially Ariadna. The dining area is always clean when I'm there and they have quick service. Food is pretty good not that expensive and portions are great. Usually it's peaceful in there so I like to go there to study and eat and enjoy their smoothies especially on a hot 115 degree Fahrenheit day. Worst customer service ever. ...the have always been pretty rude but today was fun The cashier was taking a catering order over the phone for 10minutes. Which ok if you have to do but during dinner rush? Never even said a word to the whole line. One lady in line piloting asked how long she might be as she was on lunch and the lady looked up with a dirty look and rolled her eyes and said I'm on a call. Rachel's is a great spot with indoor and outdoor seating. They have sandwiches, salads, pastas, wraps and smoothies. When I checked in I got a comped glass of wine and I enjoyed it with my curry chicken salad, which was absolutely amazing. Its at the District at Green Valley Ranch so there is ample parking available. The service is great. You order at the counter and take your number to the table and they bring the food to you. The portions are a good size, not huge and not big. My salad was $11 and felt worth it because they used spinach and mixed greens. read more

Great location at The District, and nice outdoor seating area! Didn't get to enjoy that during my first visit here, with the temp being around 50. I had the spinach salad with tuna & it was delicious & a huge portion! Definitely big enough for 2. I did my best to finish it, but fell short. The tuna was seasoned which added to the great flavor of the salad. The goat cheese and mushrooms were so yummy! My dining partner had one of the pasta meals and said it was very good. The indoor area was not what I expected. All the furniture is patio/outdoor stuff, which just looked weird. The space is very open, with a high ceiling. It lacked warmth. Perhaps this is due to it being more of a quick serve eatery then a stick around & chat after your meal place. They do serve alcohol, beer & wine, and as of this writing there's a yelp check in deal for free glass of wine with entree. Cheers to that! read more

First thing in the morning, I love coming down to the District (8:30am) Today we decided to try Rachel's Kitchen - after hearing a few good things from friends. So after browsing the menu I decided to try the Acai bowl and Sweet green freshly Squeezed juice. The juice was light and very refreshing - just how I like it. The Acai Bowl was a little too runny for my liking. I should have checked as it did say "Purée". I guess I'm just used to my Acai Bowls with more of a cold and frozen like consistency.. this one was not. The bananas were not visible... I guess mushed in with the Acai. The granola was nice and sweet, but smothered in the Acai. So that's why the lower than normal review. Service was great. There's plenty of seating inside and outside And it's clean. I think next time I'll try something else though. read more

No flavor to speak of and only one side of the bread had been dipped in batter (barely), the other side was literally just toast. Mom loves the Turkey Club. Dad wasn't impressed with the BBQ Bacon Burger. It was dry, dad said, 'where's the beef' and wasn't fond of the BBQ sauce. My 440 Chicken sandwich was super dry. Also the goat cheese was not flavorful on it. I needed to ask for a side of dressing to swallow it on the ciabatta bread. I've been going to Rachel's since day one, but ALWAYS get the Chicken Chopped Salad, or Turkey Club with sweet potato fries... Amazing!! All four of us had soggy sweet potato fries. The Turkey Club as always gets 5 stars, but as a restaurant that I love, I don't always want to order the same two items. Earlier this year I tried a breakfast omelette that I wasn't impressed with, but thought, maybe breakfast isn't the way to go so I stuck to the same lunch items next time. I wasn't yelping at the time. Posting pictures of my favorite CHOPPED CHICKEN SALAD & TURKEY CLUB!! I highly recommend. I am rating only three stars because it's my third time ordering something new & not impressed with. If I stuck to my original favorites I'd give a 5 star, but expect more from Rachel's. The menu is simplistic and I believe can be better than that, especially when it comes to a chicken sandwich on ciabatta and a bacon burger. Yesterday, September 27th 5pm the employees were wonderful, they get 5 stars. I will be back to try something new again, hopefully or go back to usual the Chopped Chicken Salad. Lately this place has been letting me down. I love seating outside but tables and chair always dirt and birds come to attack the left overs people leave behind. Birds poop all over the table and chairs. Salads are not fun anymore, seems like the restaurant is trying to save on ingredients but prices has gone up. The burgers menu are not available anymore even though on the big menu on the front door still shows they do. Really hope management comes forward and turn this place nice again. read more

I went in today to have a bite , I usually have a good experience at this location but today I felt less than respected after I ordered I went to sit down but most tables needed to be wiped off so I asked the female at register to please clean one, her response was "there's tables that are clean, which table are you wanting to sit at?" I pointed where I wanted to sit by a window . She came out and instead of cleaning the table I asked her to clean - she cleaned off 2 tables before even coming to me, while I'm standing there waiting for her. I then told her to make my order to go instead. Why ask what table then make me wait for you to clean it? It seemed like she was deliberately trying to be rude to me. No customer service attitude even after I gave a tip at the register! Why do they expect a tip just to ring an order and then give subpar service to patrons? It makes no sense. Great spot to come for some healthy eats and a little shopping since it's located right in the District. There's plenty of outdoor seating if you're meeting girlfriends to shop or you can get it to go if you're just doing a little quick shopping yourself. I've been to Rachel's several times in the past and it's always been pretty good. I've even recommended it to friends and family. However, I went there today and it was just awful. I ordered the 440 sandwich and a salad and asked them if they could toast the bread. They reluctantly agreed after my third request. As I approached a nearby table, an employee was wiping it down with a wet cloth. After sitting down, I realized that the table was literally covered in excess water from the rag the employee was using and told another employee about it. This employee told me "no problem", went to the kitchen and returned with a stack of napkins that she just dropped on my table and walked away without a word spoken. A few minutes later my sandwich and salad came. The toast was burned, the chicken was extremely dry and the salad was absent any sort of salad dressing. Needless to say, I'm very disappointed in the service and quality of their food and will likely never return. To the owners of Rachel's...you really need to do a better job at vetting your employees and please teach them some customer service skills. read more
