Found this place on Yelp while in the area. Spacious cafe but you won't find any seating so basically grab and go. I'm not familiar with the area so maybe they have a good reason not to have tables and chairs. I was a bit unsure when I walked in but decided to place an order anyway. No greeting from employees, no eye contact. She took my order and that's all. The iced latte was ok, not bad but also not good. So when I left I still had mixed feelings about this place. I've been wanting to try this place for a while but sadly I found it underwhelming. I ordered the salted Carmel cold brew one day and the great white the next, found them to be very similar to each other and tasted similar to drinks I have gotten from McDonalds. Some of the drinks I feel are reasonably priced (cold brew $5) but others only come in one size and are quite pricey (great white 32oz $10). Drinks are more sweet than strong and I personally did not get a caffeine high from either of them. I would recommend this place for their merchandise or for Frappuccino lovers, not for coffee enthusiasts. No food other than some individually wrapped baked goods. There's no seating although there is space for it. Parking is in a shared lot so there should be no problem. They do have a restroom. read more

Maybe not the safest area to be in so keep your head on a swivel...aside from that, the service is very quick and the coffee is very tasty, with plenty of variations you can choose from. There are no seats of any kind, so you feel as if you need to leave shortly after getting your coffee, but I get it. Probably to avoid certain kinds of people from loitering. read more

I had come to Rad coffee a handful of times over the years. It's been a long time, so I decided to check it out. This location is in downtown Riverside, near the library. It is just off magnolia. I came on a Sunday at noon. Parking could be difficult. It was not busy, only very few customers. Their cafe is decorated in a punk/hardcore/metal scene. It was very vibrant in a muted kind of way with the colors. The walls were painted with colorful murals. I liked the vibe. Their menu is a huge board near the ceiling. Once it was my turn at the register, I got a droop coffee (black) and I asked for a recommendation. The barista said the Spanish latte was a very popular one once I told her I wanted a sweet latte. I got it with oat milk. She also said their cookie butter one was popular. The total came out to $9 with some change. My drinks were ready quickly. My Spanish latte was definitely strong and tasted sweet. Great experience! :) would definitely be back to try their specialties! read more

Came here last weekend when traveling and loved it! They don't have a sitting area so you'll either have to stand or take the coffee to go. The staff were awesome! They were so patient and made sure we knew all the options. We ordered the Cinnamon Crunch and the Cookies and Cream drinks and they were fire! You can really taste the cookies in the Cookies and Cream and the cinnamon crunch was delicious; however, I wish the cereal taste topped a little more. Is it worth the hype? Idk Maybe it was the coffee suggestion I received, but I didn't like it. I prefer my drinks strong and highly caffeinated. The barista suggested a Spanish latte, and it wasn't good. There was a weird lingering after taste and I found myself chugging it to get it over with. I kinda expected more of the shop due to their truck aesthetic. They have a lot of merch (clothes, bags, pins, stickers). It's not cheap tho. A very fun coffee shop with kind workers and a unique menu! I've heard many great things about Rad Coffee from friends and finally had a chance to visit. It's a really cool spot with a funky vintage/spooky theme to it. Very spacious but no seats or tables inside. My group ordered the matcha latte, horror-chata, and the cookies n scream cereal chiller substituted with a cold brew base. The drink presentation is spot on, everything looked so good! The matcha latte wasn't bad but it also wasn't my favorite, it had a slightly bitter taste to it. The horror-chata (pumpkin spice horchata) was really good but it's overwhelming sugary. The last drink we tried was the cookies n scream which was the best drink out of the three! Great flavor yet not too sweet. I'll definitely be coming back to find my go-to drink :) read more

An established company, but new to Riverside, it's always exciting when a coffee shop opens. Located in a less than appealing plaza plagued by dereliction, let's hope Rad's arrival and a couple other new establishments, including Olivia Burger Cafe, will start a much-needed renewal for this subzone. The great: Punk Rock anesthetics and vibe. From the visually appealing merchandise and reproduction of old concert flyers, the place is an eyeful. The friendliness of the staff is another highlight. Parking is free, and there are plenty of spots, but watch where you step out there, seriously. The blended coffee cold drink rivals Starbucks, easily, and tastes more natural. A hit in the making. The good: So far, after a handful of visits, my favorites seem to be the Spanish Latte and the Rad Berry cold concoction, which tastes best in original form. I thought the shaken lemonade addition for 75 cents watered-down the flavor. A bit of constructive criticism. The aforementioned latte is also a little inconsistent, either too sweet or not hot enough. The cold version is nice when sweetness levels are lower (to our palates, at least). I've observed that some staff are training and the best drinks came when closely supervised. I imagine that should resolve itself soon. At $12 the skull glass for a latte is expensive, but that glass is über cool! The vanilla lattes seem muted in flavor, however, something another buddy said after I told him about the place. I tried one of the nicely packaged confectionery offerings, a sugar shortbread or something. I found it had a texture and flavor of something kept in plastic too long. So far, I'm not a fan of the munchies. I'm told that pinball machines will soon grace the otherwise sparse lobby devoid of tables and chairs. I'm sure the rampant homeless population partly informed that decision, which is too bad because the Riverside City College has several buildings adjacent to the plaza. For now, it's take-out only here. For me, it's not yet 5* quality, but I think asking for less syrup sweetness is the key to getting drinks customized. 5* for the music and staff, though! read more

I ordered the iced apple oat Chai and it was really good. The interior was decorated well. I know others have mentioned that it's in a sketchy area... that is true. The homeless in this area is quite populated. Majority will leave you alone. As a a woman who went alone (late morning) I didnt feel scared or threatened. I'm a pretty big fan of Rad Coffee so when I accidentally passed by it while driving for work I was so ready. Unfortunately I had to wait a few weeks for the doors to open. One day I finally saw the cardboard off the windows and a sign on the door. I hit a u turn and soon found myself inside the newest Rad Coffee establishment. Located in a small strip mall between Maxi Foods and the Plant Power restaurant, the location is decent but there's not much parking to go around, just FYI. This location is massive compared to the original in Upland but decorated similarly with show flyers on the walls and your favorite punk rock songs playing over the speaker. The drinks are exactly like the original. My go to is the Cookies and Scream. If you love Rad you'll be happy about that. If you think Rad is only ok well you won't change your mind. They also carry the vegan treats from Cosmic Bakery so if you need your rice krispy treat or Pop Tart fix, you've got nothing to worry about. I've been here three times in the past two weeks and service is consistently friendly. My review might be a bit biased because I love Rad Coffee. The punk rock and monsters theme is right up my alley and the drinks are pretty good too. The charm of the original isn't quite there but you'll have more room to roam while you're waiting for your drinks. Selfishly, the location is also 1000% closer to me so that's another thing going for it. Highly recommended! read more

On November 1st, I made my second visit to this coffee shop. I placed an order for four coffees, but I realized about 20 minutes later that I had mistakenly ordered one hot drink when it should have been iced. I returned to the counter, laughing at my own mistake, and politely asked the male cashier for a cup of ice so I could pour the drink over it myself. His response was immediate and hostile. He spoke with a harsh, defensive attitude: "What do you want me to do about it! I can charge you for a cold one." I was shocked by his aggressive reaction. I clarified that I simply needed a cup of ice, and he reluctantly agreed with a dismissive "I guess." He told a female staff member to retrieve the cup, which she proceeded to toss toward me across the counter. The combination of extreme rudeness, hostility, and unprofessional service from two separate employees over a simple request for ice is unacceptable. The menu options range from your typical espresso and cold brew options all the way to their specialty crazy drinks. I went for just a lavender vanilla cold brew, which was very reasonably priced. Maybe it was just the day but the coffee tasted like watered down chocolate milk with a hint of coffee beans.
