Excellent value and courteous staff/service. Hotel needs some TLC but I understand they will be renovating soon. Pool is spacious if a bit rough around the edges. Guest rooms are small but adequate. We had lovely views of the lake and lift bridge. Parking is very packed on weekends, but it's free for guests. Altogether a great choice for a weekend getaway to Duluth. read more

We stayed here our first time in Duluth for two nights in the tower. The 2 double bed room was quite small but had a strangely efficient use if space. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everyone coming and going. There are weird mini entrances for two rooms that have their doors right next to each other. I'm not convinced these are real sleep number beds. I have slept on them in the past and loved them, but the two beds in our room were really just air mattresses with a remote control that continually deflated throughout the night. There are only 2 elevators for all 15 or so floors so you end up either waiting forever to find its already full or you finally get so fed up and hike up the 11 flights of stairs. While waiting on the second floor we were able to get high from the aroma coming from someones room. We went down to the lounge our first night and was less than impressed. There wasn't really wait service, which is fine. I got a house red wine that was terrible and I didn't finish. The kitchen was closed at 10 on a Friday so we couldn't even get an appetizer. On a positive note they were very accommodating to our dog which is why we originally booked here. However I think the next time we come to Duluth we will plan a little bit more in advance and not book here. read more

Me and my friend currently just checked into this hotel. Check in time is not until 3 but after a 4 hour drive we decided to see if there were any rooms available early. The worker at the front desk continuously cut us off to answer the phone while we were talking, rolling his eyes while speaking to the people on the other end. He told us there was no rooms available and to come back later, but said we could keep our car parked in the lot. So being exhausted from the drive we decided to try and sleep in our car, only to have an employee knock on our window to ask what we were doing. We told him we were waiting for a room and he told us he'd be right back to let us know if there was one available. He never came back. Finally 2 hours later we get checked in, and go up to our room to see hair all over the pillows and the bed. Probably not cleaned at all. Not to mention the bed is hard as a rock. I would not recommend this place. There are lots of other hotels that would have been nicer. read more

We were very disappointed with this hotel. The carpet leading to our room was badly stained, the carpet in our room was stained, our shower was old and rusty and the shower curtain actually was so long it hung in the tub during the shower. The so called sleep number beds didn't work and our harbor view was a view of the parking lot. I would drive out of my way to stay somewhere else. We chose it because it was a Radisson and expected it to be a quality place to stay. Never again. read more

We stayed here over the weekend and had a nice time. The lobby was retro and needs some updating, but I hear it is coming! We had a nice room with refrig and microwave. The room and refrig was clean. The room and halls need updating, but again I hear it is coming. The JJ Astor restaurant (harborview) was amazing for dinner on the revolving rooftop. The food was good. Everything is clean and the staff try very hard to please. I'm going back when renovations are done. Things are close by. The Park for music festivals right across the street. The train is as well. While leaving I stopped at the front desk to tell them the heat didn't work in our room. They said ok and didn't ask for the room number. Will never be back. read more

We booked this hotel because it's was pet friendly. We were very disappointed. Carpets in hall were filthy, tub was cracked and drain was broken, shower head was too low only fits someone 5'3 or shorter and the showers never got hot, maid service didn't even make the bed all of the way, just threw it together. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Beyond that nothing good to say about this hotel. The bed frame was broke, the air conditioner leaked a large pool of water, the towel bar was lying on the floor, the other bed did not have a sheet on it, more than half of the outlets did not work and incase I was hungry the maids left some french fries from previous guests on the floor. The hotel seems to be in complete disrepair, I am surprised Radisson allows their name to be associated with these conditions. read more

Had a great stay. We were a little concerned by some of the negative reviews. Yes the hotel is older but everything was clean and in good shape. Everyone on the staff was super helpful and friendly. Used the shuttle to get to the DECC event and returned via the skywalk. Had breakfast at the JJ Astor revolving restaurant and the food was very good and reasonably priced. This hotel used to be nice and they did a half hearted face lift. The service is terrible...the first day they did about a 50% effort turning over our room (left dirty glasses and used coffee, left too few towels) and the second day, they didn't even make up our room at all! We requested daily service instead of free drinks and points! When I called down to the front desk they said I would have to come and get fresh towels and toilet paper myself. The magnitude of the negative impression this hotel left us with, not only impacts our view of the Duluth Radisson but that of the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group. After struggling to find parking in the undersized lot for this towering hotel, we checked in around dinnertime, dropped off our bags and met family for the evening. We returned to the room late to find a handwritten note on hotel scratch paper simply stating "PRESS FIRMLY". It was laid atop the remotes for the sleep number beds. We found this to be very awkward and intrusive. There was no signature from hotel staff or maintenance nor an explanation of why they felt we needed that information. It was only when we awoke the next morning that we realized the deplorable room conditions we had just slept in. 1. The pillowcases and comforters were stained 2 The carpet was dirty and not vacuumed 3. An outlet was broken (the top had no power to it and the bottom heated up our charger so much that it was difficult to handle in a matter of minutes) 4. Our Guest services book was missing all pages behind "Hotel Dining" - we had no idea if room service was available, what was available, what hours, etc 5. The stopper in our tub was pulled out of the drain unusable and was corroded 6. The bathroom ceiling was stained with what looked like mold 7. Our toilet waterline had a dirty ring around it 8. Wallpaper was peeling from several places in the room 9. The exhaust fan in the bathroom did not work and was caked in dust and dirt 10. The heating unit was filthy and also corroded These were just the things we could see. Just the thought of what we could not see makes me physically ill. As we returned to the hotel that night we could not find a single parking spot available. My husband went in to ask about additional parking and was directed to a lot across the street. The lot we were directed to had a sign that read, NO OVERNIGHT PARKING, No Hotel Parking, Parking for only (and then listed two other businesses). We went to the front desk after parking and spoke to someone who said he was a manager. We relayed our frustration only to be told that all of this information was on the blue slip of paper we were handed when we checked in. You will see from the attached copy that there is no specific mention of where to park, only that we should, as we did, speak with the front desk for direction. As an aside, this lot was not plowed well and we had to cross an icy street on a hill and walk the length of the block to get back to the hotel. Not very convenient or safe for your guests. We then relayed all of the above items to this 'manager'. His response was simply "I am sorry to hear that". He never offered any solutions. He did not offer to put us in a new room, get a cleaning crew into the room or apologize and offer us a discount for the atrocious conditions of our room. When we checked out the next morning, the front desk clerk never asked us how our stay was and seemed put off that we wanted a receipt. This hotel is a hazard! Mold, electrical issues and staff that clearly are not committed to the safety and well-being of their guests make this a disaster waiting to happen. DO NOT STAY HERE! read more

Made 3+ hour drive this weekend from South of Metro to Gooseberry/Split Rock area for an impromptu fun family ROAD TRIP and this place pretty much ruined it. My fault for not booking something better ahead of time but again, impromptu and fun! County fair was going on + huge tourist attraction anyway = no rooms ANYWHERE. Somehow the Radisson in Duluth had a room. We had to take it. Pouring rain, we're exhausted, IT'S $250?!!?!? Whatever, we need 2 beds. Parking is terrible, they don't offer valet. Parked next door at a bowling alley under the clerk's assurance that it was ok, despite signs stating otherwise. Lobby is tile, it was pouring, no mats, almost fell. Big stinky LOUD aggressive dog behind front desk counter (WHAT?!?), scared my kid. Ants in the elevator. Also tiled and wet in elevator. Took 10 minutes for elevator to come down, 10 people piled on elevator meant for maybe 4 people. Thing had to be 50 years old, doors opened 2 feet below the floor it was stopping at. Blood stain on sheet on one bed. A/C unit blows BEHIND the curtains which can't be opened or moved, so no air gets to room (had to use water bottles to rig them to stay behind the vents.) Your door is literally touching the door of the room next to you so you hear the coming and goings. Room itself was the same as something you would see at any $30/night side of the road Motel. No mini fridge, and we had leftovers. Bathroom was standard crappy small old Motel bathroom. Kicker was when we complained in the morning at check out, the girl nodded at our complaints and said, "Yep, you're right. We keep getting bad reviews online and stuff and maybe when they get enough they'll finally remodel some things, we really need some remodeling done. REALLY? It's so bad that the employees just agree (and offer no recourse, of course)? I guess Maybe I'll help them get to their quota of bad reviews! After posting this, I went to Tripadvisor and posted the same thing there as well, and they have dozens upon dozens of terrible reviews stating what garbage this place is, and "Rhonda - GM" has been responding to every single one by pimping the incredible renovations that started today and will end in December and will address every issue people are (rightfully) upset about. Well how about you charge $75-$100 a night tops until your shit is together? I'm not paying $250 NOW because it's going to be a nice place to stay in 6 months. That's pure bullshit. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights just as a little winter getaway. Our experience was decent. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The lobby was nicely updated but the hallways, room bathroom, and pool area don't are probably the same as when my parents stayed there 30 years ago. The staff was friendly which was great. We encountered one odd issue in which a woman in the pool area was videotaping herself in the hottub and possibly others (ourselves) who joined her. This has nothing on the hotel obviously but it was an interesting occurrence. Other than this and the fact that the hotel showed its age, our stay was great. We took our kids up to Duluth because we had no daycare on Friday so we took long weekend. Rooms have been updated but hallways are still being completed. Had great view of lift bridge. Whole staff pleasant when we asked how far the walk was to Canal Park they said we will take you there in the shuttle. A downfall that was resolved quickly by front desk twice was a tv remote replaced within 5 minutes when I said it was missing from the room. Second item resolved was when we asked about the bar downstairs music being heard up on 10th floor at 10:00 pm they had the bar close its patio doors which solved the problem as we didn't hear the music again. I've read issues about the elevators on sine reviews never had an issue with a wait of no more then 5 minutes. Big fan of location will use it again and recommend to others as well. read more

Absolute worst hotel stay our family had. The elevator doors wouldn't shut all the way and elevators would stop 1-2 inches below the floor - SO UNSAFE! Only two elevators worked and we had to wait over 30 minutes to get an elevator to leave. The staff was unhelpful and the black mold in our bathroom was the tipping point. I would pay an additional $100 to stay at one of the nice hotels - this was not worth the money. read more

Where do I start? First off, the keys didn't work. I had a cart load of luggage I didn't want to leave,nor did I want to wait forever for an elevator to bring it back down to the lobby. I called the desk and explained the problem and asked if someone could bring new keys for me. I was told that it would be awhile because there was a long line at the desk. I waited about fifteen minutes and called again. Finally after telling them how unacceptable this was, I was brought a key. I then realize the air conditioner has no power. I once again call down to complain and was told it would be a wait. Maintenance shows up and tells me he can't fix it anytime soon. I walk down 8 floors because the elevator takes forever and tell the front desk I want a different room. After confusing them as to why, I was given a different room. While standing in line, I heard the same complaints about no air conditioning and keys that don't work. I spent over 400.00 for that room. The one thing that would have made it bearable would have been an apology and maybe a little empathy. That's not much to ask for in a customer service industry. I missed an important work meeting because of dealing with all of this. I was treated like an annoyance. Unacceptable! read more

My brother purchased a gift certificate for a night in the Presidential suite as a wedding present and we had to deal with the General Manager to book this room. After a lot of confusion on her side, we thought we had the suite booked. I called to confirm the reservation a couple days prior and found out that she had switched us to a standard King room and never told us. When I talked to her to try and figure out what happened, she was extremely rude and had no customer service skills. She kept saying that the gift certificate that my brother purchased was not valid for the Presidential Suite, even though the gift certificate specifically says that it is. She said that they had changed management and they had remodeled the hotel so they could not accept my gift certificate. She said that the room she gave us was $529 per night and it had the best view of the harbor. She said it was their nicest room and always used it for showings and very rarely had people stay in it. I have never been treated so rudely by someone in a usually customer friendly industry. The room had a great view but it was right across from the elevator and you could hear conversations in our room. For being the "nicest room in the hotel", we were not very impressed with it. I would not recommend this hotel because of the experience I had with the general manager. There are far nicer hotels in Duluth where they know how to treat their customers right. read more

The restaurant was nice and had good service, I would go to the restaurant again, this hotel was terrible. I spent the day walking around town and didn't have time to examine the room at first, when I went to fill the bath for my son there was pubic hair, all over the bathroom. The bathroom ceiling was warped, cracked and had a hole in the ceiling. We slept on top of the covers after discovering another long hair on the bed and it was stained, old jerky and crumbs were on the floors. None of the phone charging ports worked, only one outlet worked. Bad choice of tv channels and only half worked. The whole place is run down, lackluster attitude from employees. It's also not the greatest place to stay if you smoke, given all the crack head homeless types that circle the area. The office chair was ripped, said it had complimentary breakfast but they don't. Every motel 6 I have ever stayed at was cleaner. We stayed here because we usually go to Radisson hotels, this is not a Radisson hotel, it's a ghost of a Radisson and it's angry. read more

Absolutely horrific experience. We had booked a lakeview room directly through Radisson's website, several months before our arrival. When we checked in, we were told that they oversold rooms, and our room was no longer available. I was left to call other hotel rooms in the Duluth area- and they were all sold out, which is quite common for the area. When we went back up to the desk, the clerk finally found a room for us, though it was not a lakeview room. He said he was going to give us a discounted rate, which I later found out was the standard rate for the room they gave us- so absolutely no discount. He also threw in two free breakfasts at the JJ Astor's restaurant, which was also a bad experience, except that the restaurant apologized profusely and tried to make things right, so I will not fault them for that- and I have to say- the food was excellent. When we got into the room- it was filthy and quite outdated. The sleep number bed did not work, and was very uncomfortable (my husband described it as a waterbed without water). I reserved the room with a credit card, but gave a debit card at check-in to pay with- and they charged BOTH cards, which has not yet been resolved. The manager literally turned around and walked away from me when I approached the desk the next morning to check out and ensure they were going to resolve the double charge issue. We travel quite often, and we had traveled to Duluth on a steam engine train excursion with several other couples. We chose the Radisson only because it was the closest hotel to the train station, and was rumored to be completely remodeled. We had no other means of transportation, and nowhere else to go, because if we had other options, we would not have given the Radisson our business. Our friends also had issues at check-in - their rooms were not yet ready (we checked in after 5pm), and they were told that Priceline had oversold the rooms- which was NOT our problem, and none of us booked through Priceline anyways! STEER CLEAR OF THE RADISSON!!! If you're vacationing in Duluth, I highly recommend the Fitger's hotel or Hampton Inn. The Radisson is very expensive, the rooms are dirty, the bathrooms are extremely small and the hotel lacks good customer service. I will never recommend, nor stay, in a Radisson hotel or any of their affiliates. read more

We have stayed here several times and it has been going downhill. We stayed in May and even though the toilet paper roll was almost empty the cleaning person did not leave an extra roll, my husband had to go down to the lobby to get more. We wanted to go to Duluth and they had rooms open so we decided to give it another try. When we got there the front desk person was rude and short with us, everyone else in line got a parking pass but we did not and our room package was supposed to come with breakfast coupons but we did not get them. We went to the room and as we walked down the hall the cleaning lady looked at us but left the cleaning cart in the middle of the hallway, we had to pick up our bags and squeeze around it. The room was very dirty, it smelled dirty, there was dog hair all over, the sheets had hairs on them, it had not been vacuumed in months, and the bathroom was not cleaned. We called the front desk and asked for another room, the woman who answered slammed the phone down. Someone brought us a new room key and he did move the cleaning cart for us but I tripped on a dog chew toy in the hallway. The second room was just as bad, more hair on the bed and no vacuuming done. We went back to the front desk and checked out. We went to Fitger's Inn, we have stayed there before and it is more expensive but it is worth it for a clean room and good service. read more

In Duluth for work for a few months. My apartment is not yet available so my company put me up at the Radisson for a week. First impression, parking is confusing, nothing marked and not near enough spaces for how big the place is (I was told on weekends I can park in the bowling alley lot across the street, which means crossing a 4 lane road and walking a block to my hotel). I got an "efficiency" room which means the smallest of fridges and microwaves. Typically on vacation not a big deal, but I'm here for work so I have to pack lunches, make dinner, etc but anything that's perishable can't be stored or prepared here. If you're working 2nd shift, prepare to be awoken by the sun at 6 am because the large window in the room has sheer curtains but only decorative drapes (meaning they cover about a foot on each end of the window but can't be closed so all that sunlight, and the lights from the parking garage right outside at night, streams in 24 hrs a day). On my 2nd night....I hear water running in the bathroom. I go in to find water leaking from the ceiling. Maintenance investigated, found a kid above me flooded their bathroom causing it to leak into my room. Fine. But no one came to clean up my bathroom. I used my towels to mop up the floors and had to go to the desk to get replacements. The carpet just outside the bathroom got pretty wet too, guess I just have to let that dry on it's own. Pretty disappointed I didn't get to be in the main tower of the hotel to get a view of the Great Lake, but I must be in the cheap-o section thanks to my company, with every person parking their cars able to see into my room. Hopefully the rest of the week goes without incident and not like these first 2 days! Just gotta be glad I didn't pay for the room I guess! read more

This place was fine. Yes, there were some noisy kids outside our room occasionally. Our tub had a broken stopper. But aside from that, it was good. The bed was nice (the sleep number bit worked), the heater was clean and responsive, the shampoo etc in the bathroom was good, and the staff was friendly. We stayed here because it was the least expensive option actually in Duluth. So...yes, you get what you pay for. It wasn't covered in bugs or anything, there just also wasn't five-star service. In the mid-1970s, this was the first hotel with an "h" for me. When my parents took us around the country on road trips, we always stayed in roadside motels, the cheaper the better. But I was traveling with a friend's family then - for a Barber Shoppers convention. No, I'm serious: Barbershop singers were everywhere. I remember being awestruck by the hotel: this was living large. I may have been easily impressed; after all, I was only 12 years old. But it was the Radisson, and back then, everyone knew that meant something. Fast forward to 2016, the place is currently a little sad and tired. But to be fair, there seems to be hope. They are renovating floor-by-floor and room-by-room. We stayed on the fourth floor and with yet another trip down memory lane, I had visions of my freshman dorm years. The hallway carpets, in 80s hunter green and gold, were soiled and there were mysterious stains on the walls. I didn't want to think too hard about their origin. Thankfully, our room had been updated and was really okay. We also had cocktails on the rotating top floor which I don't believe has changed much in a few decades. Still, it was a fun view of the city. The staff was very friendly, attentive and genuine. I think they know they have to make up for the physical disappointment of the hotel. read more

Thought it was pretty clean at first, until we found the hairs on the bathroom wall. The wall by the window looked like it had some sort of bad water damage that they just covered up with paint. Kind of overpriced for average hotel. Parking SUCKS, do not leave after 6pm on a weekend you'll never get a parking spot. People park you in, park areas that block the ramps to leave or enter...just becomes a crowded mess where people door ding you, hit you, etc... On a positive note, the Beds are comfy and the sheets weren't stained, yay!! Air conditioner worked great, wireless internet had no problems connecting, and was super fast. Old, straight out of the 70's. In need of a major renovation. If I had only paid $100 per night I wouldn't even be writing this but when I pay over $200 a night I expect a clean modern room. In the room there was an old TV, microwave, and fridge. The tub had rust around the drain, there was snot on the shower curtain and grease on the linens, not to mention it smelled like Joe Camel just had a cigar party in the room. Surprising the hotels restaurant actually got decent reviews on here but I decided to not risk my money. The only pros to this hotel are that the staff were friendly and it is a 10min walk to most of Duluth's major attractions. I would nit stay here again unless absolutely needed to. read more

Probably won't be staying here again...$526 for two nights in a below average hotel room. The bathroom was dirty - there was hair on the rusting and chipped bathtub, water damage on the ceiling, only one usable outlet in the hotel room (bathroom one malfunctioned), bathroom sink was clogged, crumbs behind nightstand/beds, dusty mirrors and vents, peeling wallpaper, no working bathroom fan/vent, stained and dirty carpet in the hallway and stained hallway walls. The price would be a lot more justified if the hotel was clean and better maintained. I know they are renovating but they should still be keeping it sanitary. I booked the hotel a month in advance and noticed the price to book the day of was a lot lower (almost half the price)...tried inquiring about it at the front desk and she said that wasn't correct and it was actually around $270 a night. Highly recommended looking elsewhere, even if it's more expensive. read more
