This place came recommended by locals. The building, atmosphere and staff were great. Unfortunately that's where it ended. We ordered the BBQ ribs with fries. They came out in less that five minutes, colder than room temperature. Sent them back, they came out about 3 minutes later, clearly microwaved. They were a tasteless, mushy mess and now the fries were even a soggy mess. They asked if they could try again, we passed. Thy didn't have a problem billing us for this experiment. Makes me wonder why people allow this type of service. I recommend you stay far away from this place and stick to national chains when traveling. They may not always be good but they are consistent and you know what you're going to get! read more

I am so disappointed with this restuarant. I have eaten here many times and had pleasant experiences until this last time I went. I ordered one of my favorites, The Bluegrass sandwich that has grilled chicken, barbecue sauce, bacon, provolone, all on a bun. I gotten it plenty of times and I know if something is off. It came to my table and I noticed a smell that was coming from the sandwich. I didn't comment at first because I didn't want to be picky, but something was wrong. About three bites into the sandwich I couldn't eat any more because the smell was overpowering. I asked for a manager because I believed from the smell that the chicken had gone bad. I recognized the smell from when I have cooked bad chicken and I have thrown it out immediately. A manager came to our table and and I asked her to smell the chicken. She put on a face and told me it was the wine reduction that they soaked their chicken in and said there was no problem. Instead of taking the chicken away, she tried to get me to order something else and almost begrudgingly took the sandwich off the ticket. I know chicken that has marinated in wine, and this chicken did not have that smell. It had been left out and had spoiled. The manager knew it and tried to play it off, thinking I wouldn't know. No restaurant should ever serve rotten food. My stomach was unsettled and I had trouble eating anything else for the rest of the day. I would give no stars for the lack of understanding service. The nicest place in BG and upon arrival it is not hard to see why. the facility is very well done and it was very clean. The owners obviously spent lavishly to create a very nice venue with outside seating. The excellent food was exceeeded by even better service. The prices were better yet. We paid 20% more the prior day in a place that was no where nearly as nice. If you want a great meal in a great place in BG, this is your ticket. If you are traveling though the area, it is worth the trouble to get off I-65 and go ~1 mile west to this outstanding venue. read more

Dinner was really good. I have not had many great meals in BG. However Rafferty's was a pleasant surprise after being disappointed at Double Dogs and Montana Grill. The Filet was excellent, perfectly cooked super tender and as flavorful as a Filet gets. The Kona chicken was great, again it was cooked just right, juicy not dry topped with ham cheese and pineapple. Loaded baked potatoes were as expected. Service was great. Prices were reasonable. Hand to God: I cannot remember a time when I ordered something and the staff didn't mess the order up. If you order takeout, they'll say it'll be ready in fifteen minutes, and when you show up twenty minutes later, you still spend ten minutes waiting for them to get your fries. The food can be tasty, but it's one of those restaurants where they just cover everything with cheese or bacon or some sort of weird sauce in an attempt to make it different. This is probably the sort of place your grandparents go for a four o'clock dinner. read more

My wife and I were frequent visitors to the south Lexington location before they lost their lease. We ate here on Saturday night while visiting Bowling Green and it was as great as we remembered. Staff was super as was the atmosphere and the food. It is more that a step above a O' Charley's or Applebee's but no more expensive. You'll love it. read more

No lie! Rafferty's spinach salad is the best I've ever eaten. Tender baby spinach, thinly sliced red onion, candied pecans and bacon. Add the seasoned chicken option as a special treat. What makes this spinach salad better than the others? The hot bacon dressing - ask for two, it's fabulous! I believe I left tongue tracks on my plate. The wait staff was attentive and offered suggestions. One of the suggestions by Chelsea, was the bacon cheeseburger . This is my favorite restaurant. I wish I lived closer! Anytime we are in BG this is our go to spot. Staff is as friendly and accommodating as they can be. We were in town for the Corvette Homecoming this past weekend and had lunch on Saturday. My husband and I split the ultimate club with fries! It's one of my favorite things at Rafferty's and it's definitely enough for 2! Everything was great and I look forward to finding a reason to go to Bowling Green again soon! This review is only 3 stars, not because of the food, which was delicious, but because of the service. Once we were seated, our server was right on the draw, rattling off our choice of appetizers. We chose the fried mushrooms and drinks. As soon as he placed that order, he came back to take our dinner order and, as we feared, the salads were delivered several minutes after the appetizer hit the table, and two minutes later the entrees showed up, which left the appetizers and salads uneaten. When we complained, our waiter said that the kitchen was really cranking out the food fast tonight. Our same complaint to the manager also met with the same shoulder shrugging "fast kitchen" response. A little while later, our waiter was happy to collect the mostly uneaten appetizer and salads. Tough luck to us. The rib eye steak marinated in pineapple and soy sauce was delicious, although my partner's steak ordered medium well came out medium-medium rare. If you go here, don't let the waiter take your entree order until you are mostly finished with your appetizer, then salad, or else you'll end up with everything hitting the table at one time. read more
