Decided to try something different than another mexican food outing, and tried Ragazzi as they had good reviews. Overall great experience. We made reservations and were seated when we arrived. Servers brought bread and wine.... a must for a good Italian meal. Our orders arrived timely, nice and hot, and very tasty. We were too full to try dessert, but the list looked good. Have been here for dinner several times since my first review. Their red sauce is superb! Have not found anything on the menu that I didn't like. This is a small, cozy restaurant. It is not inexpensive, but the food is very, very good. This is my favorite restaurant in Green Valley. If you are looking for a heaping plate of mediocre food, go somewhere else. Most in my group had the eggplant lasagna and loved it! I had the penne pesto with garlic shrimp. I was surprised that the penne had both red sauce and pesto on it, not the usual. I couldn't complain though because the red sauce was excellent. Some who had the pizza thought the crust was a little too hard--not good for those who don't have good teeth. All in all I liked it very much. The waiter was friendly and helpful and the busboy cleaned quickly and frequently without being intrusive. Nice place in green valley for a more upscale restaurant. A little pricey but the food is good (my order) and service was great. I enjoyed the fettuccini a lot. I didn't enjoy my husband's food though.. he got chicken in wine sauce that was just not good. The chicken was tough and the wine overpowered the flavor. The bread is really good. Every part of our evening at Trattoria Ragazzi was fantastic, superb, delicious perfection!!! iVe been ordering their meals "take out" from afar for years, as my Great Aunt Jean Gianetto (a chef herself!) absolutely loved their cuisine.... so i would often have the food delivered to her home on special occasions. God rest her soul! Oh how Aunt Jean Loved the food at this restaurant. iVe been wanting to try it myself! Recently, my Godparents moved to Green Valley, so my husband and i came to visit and we went to Trattoria Ragazzi last night for dinner. The hostess Reina is a splendid delight! We been away from good Italian food for 2 years , so this was a welcome surprise. White tablecloths, opera on the system , father and son owned. The antipasti plate was fresh and large. The food is outstanding. But it ends there. We have been there about 5 or 6 times, and every time this one waiter was there, the service was atrocious. They would forget the bread, also forget items that we ordered, give us the wrong side dish, leave empty plates sitting on the table for a long time, and forget to check on us how we were doing. And we would see this particular waiter catering to another table and giving them lots of attention, possibly because it was a bigger party of four instead of just us two. The one time we went there and this waiter was not working, we actually had excellent service! It's just this one guy that can't seem to handle the responsibilities. Polite enough, but that's not sufficient to make for a good meal. And he seems to be the main waiter there because whenever he's there that's who we get. We even overheard him admitting to other customers that he gets distracted and that when they are busy, they tend to not give great service. What kind of thing is that to say? And the prices went up almost $10 for each entrée and each bottle of wine from October to November, so for two entrees and one bottle of wine plus a tip, we paid almost $130. There is not a single bottle of wine for under $48 now. It's not even great wine. We both used to work in the wine business, so we are well aware of that market. Not worth it for that kind of service. Too bad -- we were recommending them to everyone as the best Italian restaurant in the entire area, and that's going to stop. We won't go back anytime soon. read more

I was disappointed with the chicken marsala because it was tough. If I'm paying top dollar for chicken, it should be perfect. The service was spotty. Three different people came to the table, but no one checked to see if we were satisfied with the food. The best part of my meal was the house dinner salad. read more

Ordered take out last night. Lasagna for hubby and eggplant parmigiana for me. The dinners come with minestrone (which was very bland) that I saved for lunch today. I will have to add some spices to up the taste profile a bit. The dinners also come with focaccia bread & was fresh and tasty. My eggplant parmigiana was good. Hubby said the lasagna was great! We also ordered a side of garlic bread and it's just average and the order only had 2 slices in it, so won't order that again. We only have 2 Italian restaurants in Green Valley. The other place uses way too much salt but the salt in the lasagna from Ragazzi's was just right. We will go back and try other dishes. read more

Ordered a $38 ribeye tonight, medium rare. It was served medium rare but not sure what the cut of meat was. About 3/4 inch thick and once I got through the fat and grizzle the meat was so tough I had to saw with a lot of force to cut off a piece. Tried the other end and it was the same way. We wanted a night out for good pizza and beer. This is a place for excellent pizza but not so much for beer. That's fine tho because the food and service are both excellent! A basket of delicious, warm, homemade bread was brought to the table and we devoured it! We had the antipasto mixto, a nice selection of Italian meats, kalamata olives, grilled asparagus, fresh mozzerella and tomato all resting on a bed of romaine, red onion and garbanzo beans dressed in house made red wine vinegrette. But the best part was the pizza! It's not on their menu so you have to ask for the pizza menu. The dough is made fresh daily. They are all the same size-10" and cooked in a brick oven. Their pizza is as good as any pizza I have had in Italy. They get it right! While I would like to go back and try some of their entrees, I dont know if I could pass up the pizza. We were visiting from Out of town and wanted Italian food. Very disappointing and more expensive than really great restaurants in North Beach, the "Little Italy" of San Francisco. The staff were all friendly and attentive. However, when the hostess helped to deliver food to the table, she held a bowl of soup with her fingers grasping the inside of the bowl- yuck. Eggplant parm seemed like it had been precooked and was very greasy without much sauce. Veal Marsala was good but didn't come with a side of pasta or any starch, not much to eat. I went to this place having big expectations. Im very disappointed. Its not a cheap place at least the bread was good and the coke. The pasta was good too but the meat come on, was just sealed on the top and totally red inside thats not medium well. I was waiting to any of the waitress or the host to come and ask about the food to see how they can resolve this. nobody comes to try to work this out I was not asking for nothing free but at least if im going to pay 28 dlls for a 4 oz piece of steak and 3 shrimps please keep an eye on the cooking instructions. I wont recommend this to anybody, I dont know if the chef was not inspirated yesterday but really Im very disappointed about what I was expecting. read more

I was not looking forward to writing this review. We have been customers at Ragazzi's for years and have always been very happy with the food and service. It is our "go to" restaurant whenever I am in town. Due the Covid-19 protocl, I was overjoyed when Food Magoos began offering home delivery of meals and even more happy when I saw Ragazzi's was one of the featured restaurants for home delivery. First home delivery: rack of lamb with minestrone soup on the side..excellent ! Second home delivery on November 25...what happened?? Firstly, they ran out of rack of lamb and offered lamb shank.dry, warmed over, the vegetables were past due and the sides were not up to usual standards. That was not a Caesar salad. I realize we are entering the holiday season and folks will be spending time at home with family but that is not a reason to clean out the fridge and present it as a 5-star meal. read more

This was recommended by a local. He said the clam linguine was the best. I had the pork loin with roasted vegetables. My wife had the scallops and shrimp Alfredo with gluten free pasta. Both were delicious. We were the only ones there and still had to wait for our server. Four stars instead of five was because of delayed service and higher prices for what you get. A price of about 20% lower would get more customers and 5 stars. We eat all over the country so we know where price points should be on a menu. read more

Well my mother and I are a big fan of the lasagna and the spaghetti but the services has seriously gone downhill since the last time we were here. Our server was Juile and not only was she not very attentive to us she seemed very mentally distracted and was on her phone the entire time except to bring us our calamari as an appetizer and then the entree. Our waters didn't even get refilled once so we only had our first glass to drink from, which was very frustrating. To see our server actively on her phone in the corner the whole time other than to expedite food the handful of tables she had should be embarassing to the establishment. Don't do it! Don't waste your time or money! It's not even worth the drive from Green Valley, let alone Tucson. Okay, okay it's not that bad, but its not amazingly great either. We got there at 6pm, and were sat within a few minutes. Being sat immediately was nice, but our waiter was running around the restaurant and was barely available. It took him a long time to even take our drink orders and even longer to get our food order in. The "minestrone" soup tasted like spaghetti-o's. This was kind of nice, because it reminded me of my childhood. It really wasn't that great, it was mainly a tomato based soup, with pasta shells and lots of sugar. Then.... Almost an entire hour later our main courses came out. I decided that the chicken breast I ordered was probably thrown on the grill as soon as the order was put in and taken off maybe a minute before it was served to us. It was so hard, and overcooked, that even olive oil and sauce couldn't fix it. My butter knife, just wasn't cutting it either! Luckily, my friend ordered the Chicken Cacciatore, which was one of the specials for the evening and cooked perfectly. One thing I do give this restaurant credit for are their good desserts, The spumoni was decadent(!), as well as the Tiramisu. They also have a great wine selection. If I ever go back to this place, it would be for dessert and wine. Nothing else! read more

We had a great meal here and the service was outstanding. We tried the spicy calamari, sea bass, lasagna and veal saltimbocca. All the dishes were prepared perfect and tasted excellent. I can't say enough about the staff here. All were super friendly and attended to our every needs. Tip: the restaurant is not visible from the street. It's tucked away in a shopping center. Look for a small sandwich board sign in the parking lot near a stairwell. That's where you walk down. Take the time to find this place....it's worth it! read more
