This is the hotel bar everyone should now about, yet only those who do, know it is the best. Courteous from entrance, to cocktail and appetizer service. Nihan and Courtney are so polite. We love great music and rock & roll art to chat about with others. Just the right type of bar that anyone would love to claim as their own. See you soon and again!

A tiny little hotel bar in classic rock n'roll theme, dark and sexy. Comfy seatings are all over the main bar and patio area, cozy and intimate. This is a great Hollywood bar scene at Sunset Marquis, people are friendly, atmosphere is chill, the drinks are creative and tasty, many whiskey cocktails on the menu, I tried a champagne vodka drink, it was so refreshing and yummy! Hubby had a whiskey drink as usual, both of us enjoyed our drinks and lounge time, it was lovely. This is one of the more quiet bars to hang in WeHo, and I like that a lot.

This place is classy and professional every step of the way. Went there for a big birthday party and was overwhelmed by the way everything fell into step from a staff that worked together like a Swiss watch. They made the party so special by putting in so much effort yet staying in the sidelines so the party goers can spread out and enjoy themselves. I have never seen such attentiveness like I did here. From the decorations, to the food, to the two open bars, they ranked a 5-star from me. It was a very pleasant and unforgettable evening.

However, there is no food menu just alcoholic drinks. I found parking across the street where the CVS & WholeFoods are located. I didn't have any issues, but I only parked there for about 2 hours. Right before I left, the bartenders helped me discover a secret entrance to the bar next door. The selection is impressive, ranging from familiar labels to smaller distilleries you don't see everywhere. The bartender was clearly passionate about the craft and offered a couple of suggestions based on what I usually enjoy. I tried a whiskey I hadn't heard of before, and it turned out to be a great recommendation with a smooth, layered flavor. What I liked most was the atmosphere. It felt social without being overwhelming, making it easy to have a conversation or simply sit back and enjoy the drink. The crowd seemed like a mix of locals and people who genuinely appreciate good spirits. The Phoenix stands out as a spot where whiskey takes center stage, but the environment remains welcoming and unpretentious. Started with drinks and, honestly, can't remember what everyone ordered. I got a Desert Quench which has a tequila base and flavors of bergamot, lime, raspberry and mango. Tasted great, no complaints. For food, we started with the bone marrow and meatballs. The bone marrow was like most bone marrow, you now what you're going to get, while the meatballs were underwhelming. They didn't look appealing in terms of color and flavor was lacking. Entrees, we each tried something different. The steak frites was cooked to order but really didn't set itself apart from other frites. The trout was cooked well, and seasoned nicely, but the purple cauliflower puree, for me, didn't come together in terms of presentation for the dish. The pistachio pesto pasta was very flavorful, mixing in the burrata on top and then the little pops of spice from the chili flakes.. Just a nice bite. Finally was the double wagyu burger with caramelized onions, American cheese and a sauce emulsified with bacon. Very tasty, and those caramelized onions just added another level to each bite. Overall, nice spot in WeHo serving up some tasty cocktails and decent food. Definitely get the pistachio pesto and double wagyu burger, but you can skip the bone marrow, meatballs, frites and trout.

The bartender was loud and rambunctious, keeping his regulars amused. Megan greeted us at the door and let us pick our own table, then became our server. She was very friendly and took generally good care of us, though she did occasionally go MIA for a few minutes while caught up in conversations with regulars -- but in a casual place like this, no biggie. My wife ordered the Belmont Burger, which came with bacon, Gruyere cheese, onion marmalade and pickles (+ arugula and mayo that my wife deleted). The prime patty was cooked to a perfect medium-rare and had a clean, fresh taste, though it could have used a dash more seasoning. The toppings were all first rate, and the onion marmalade had a nice sweetness to it. Fresh cut fries were crispy and tasty, but also could have used more salt. For my part, I was in the mood for wings, extra crispy -- and that's exactly how they came. I liked that they were served dry, and that I could dip into the sauce on the side, a practice that keeps the wings as crispy as possible for as long as possible. I should also mention that the portion was very generous: 7 wings of good size for $15, which felt right. Rather than traditional Buffalo, I chose Spicy K-Chile Sauce and I enjoyed its nice balance between sweet & spice. But again, given that the wings were served dry, they would have benefited from getting a hit of salt right out of the fryer. All in all, a well-made, very tasty, straightforward meal in a fun environment. Had it been Friday or Saturday I would have enjoyed hanging at the bar and tossing back a few, but with a busy Monday morning on the horizon I decided to head home and make plans for next time.

I came across an article of St. Patrick Day activities in LA. One of them explained that this joint was offering a traditional Irish breakfast from 6:00 a.m. to 10: a.m. I decided that this was the green light I needed to embrace the whimsy/whiskey of the Irish Holiday. I got up early and went from the South Bay, to this place which is located near the Peterson car museum and the Museum about the Academy and its movies. I had to endured heavy traffic, just to get to the location. And, when I got there, I was hit with a harsh reality--- there was no parking to be found, and the parking lot was closed off. It was now time for me to engage in a frustrating LA tradition- the search for a spot for my car to sit, while I went inside a place on a popular moment. I went up and down streets. I was discouraged by signs that basically said, even though this street has open spots you still need a special visitor pass or need to live in one of these houses to park. If you do not, these luxury spot are for another. And since it was early morning on a weekday, the rush hour effect was inflating my frustration while diminishing my resolve to go. I wanted to leave, I did, but, I could not, because I was determined to experience an Irish breakfast despite not being in the emerald isle because what else was I going to do just have Dunkin' again? I turned another street, and then I saw my gift for the lucky, a parking spot that I could ease into. I walked two blocks but decided that the steps were needed to enhance my appetite. As I got near, I understood that this was a spectacle to document, and not just by me, news vans were already there setting up to show the world what being in this place on St. Patricks day meant---- living the holiday to the blimey max! I stepped in and Marley asked if I had a reservation. My heart sank, I had not thought of this. I just saw a mention of the place, and decided to go, no planning, just decision. She found a place for me, quite easily. The interior of their dining room made me feel like I was in the Island of Berk, eating in a cottage right for Vikings. I even thought that if I was fighting a dragon, I would somehow cut one of their hanging old-timey chandeliers, at the exact right time, so it falls atop its head. I am not sure if Vikings are Irish, but on this day imagination got all type of green flags. The place had two options for breakfast--- I chose the Corned Beef hash, and it was a treat for the green eyed masses. I especially liked the smashed potatoes. One of my neigbhors gave me her recipe, and she explained that one bakes the potatoes a bit, then takes like a cookie tray, and smashes the potatoes, so the potatoes are twiced bake, once when they are whole and next when they are broken. At least, that is what I understood. The cubed corned beef, the green color provided by the brussels, and the potatoes so crisp and warm, were a celebration of Ireland in my mouth, and the celebration was marked by jigs on point. But the food, and the environment were backdrop to the Irish energy around. I may be naive, but I was surprised at how many people were already in the bar drinking and in festive costume. I clipped a few of the people who garbed themselves in green and in Irish spirit. My favorite one was the guy who wore a leprechaun hat and died his hair red. He had become an O'rooke for the day, and the festivities he adorned himself with were a reminder that any holiday can be more than splendid if one decides to choose express joy with timidity abandon. A woman had a Dr. Seuss hat but in green and white with many buttons. This was not her first Shamrock induced rodeo, she had collected buttons that confirm her attendance in this yearly event, which is kind of cool because she lives for different days, not just the weekend. I also drank a green beer, or more accurately took a few sips. When in Ireland to like the Leprechauns do. One of my neighbors told his dining companion, it is a marathon not a sprint. Apparently, some people were really there to drink from the morning to evening. So if that is your thing to do this and be great in green. I looked up how the Irish say cheers and they say Sláinte. I asked my neighbors to raise their glass and Sláinte with me. They did, and we did it with gusto! That memory is one that I will carry with me for years. So I lived a breakfast in this place and truly it was something that I experience and I will remember. This place does St. Patrick's day right and I felt lucky to be there.
