Popped in this week for the 4th or 5th time. Grandma's birthday again. The owner, Marie, is ALWAYS so sweet, nice, and accommodating. I give her a price and a color (or two), and she makes these amazing floral masterpieces. To save a few bucks I generally drop off a vase and also pick up and deliver the bouquet myself. This time around, though, I didn't have time to do that so I paid the nominal ($10) delivery fee, but still dropped off a vase. The delivery price depends on distance, so keep that in mind. My delivery place was less than 3 miles from the shop. I usually feel like a tightwad bringing in my own vase, but Marie thanked me for recycling and said she wished that more people would bring in their own vases! The delivery driver - Sharon - was nice enough to call me and give me a full report of the delivery. She thanked me for letting Rainbow Flowers be a part of my thoughtfulness, even! For my birthday this year my husband attempted to send me beautiful flowers which he promptly ordered from one of those big flower delivery sites. So, I was torn between florists. For Valentine's Day I received a beautiful arrangement of 18 red roses in a stunning display from a competing florist. However, I'd read a few reviews about Rainbow Flowers and decided to give them a try. Boy, am I glad I did. Our anniversary was coming up and I wanted something just as spectacular as what I'd received so I thumbed through their gallery. When I came across the one called Romance, I knew that was the one. I called up and explained that I wanted the arrangement but I had two requests. First, could the roses be red and not orange and two, I needed to shave a little off the price (even love has a budget). The woman on the other end said no problem. Let me start this out by saying that I've been in a long-distance relationship for three years as of today. I live on the East Coast; she lives on the West Coast in, you guessed it, good ol' San Diego. So there has been a lot of flowers sent over the past few years for various reasons: anniversaries, birthdays, holidays, or a romantic whim. I've tried various different florists in the area. After hearing about Rainbow Flowers recently and then taking a look at the arrangement pictures on their website, I decided to use them for my three year anniversary. I called them to order. The owner (I believe her name is Marie) was the one who took my call. I found her reserved, polite, and very professional. I appreciated her preciseness in taking down the exact address, phone number, and message so that there would be no mistakes. I found the pricing reasonable for the arrangement I expected my girlfriend to receive, even the delivery fee (which is based on distance instead of the set pricing other florists use.) Fast forward to today, I became nervous that the arrangement hadn't arrived at my girlfriend's home. I called a few times to double-check the address I provided and finally ended up talking to Marie around 8pm. She informed me that the bouquet had been delivered as per her employee doing the deliveries, although my girlfriend, who was at home, hadn't received anything yet. When I told the owner about this predicament, she informed that she would drive out to the address I provided to see what happened after she closed the shop at 9 p.m. Talk about going above and beyond the calls of duty! Around 9:30ish, I received a text from my girlfriend telling me the "flower lady" had stopped at her house personally. Although the address I had provided was correct and the delivery had driven to the correct address on their GPS, the layout of the streets in my girlfriend's neighborhood are a little confusing. They form a rough oval that is separated into different streets instead of being provided one street name. Ultimately, the first arrangement was delivered to the right house number on the wrong street. The owner of Rainbow Flowers had prepared a second arrangement in case the first had been taken into the wrong house. After finding the original arrangement on the porch, she located the right address and gave both arrangement to my girlfriend. As per my girlfriend, the arrangement are the most beautiful flowers she has ever received. Based on pictures, I wholeheartedly agree. I am also beyond impressed at the owner's willingness to figure out what the problem was and rectifying, even after she was finished work for the day. Finally, I am thankful that she was so willing to help me out, and the flowers were able to be delivered on my anniversary instead of the day after. I highly recommend Rainbow Flowers for their customer service and beautiful flowers/arrangements. They will be the only florist I use from now on in the San Diego area. read more
