On the way over I noticed the indicator light had just come on showing tire pressure was low, and the oil change light was still on because it was not reset at a recent contact free Valvolene oil change. After a short wait, the new headlight was installed at a fair price. Driving home I realized that the folks at M and K had also inflated the tires and reset the oil change light with correct mileage according to the sticker on the windshield. I had not mentioned the tires or the oil change light, and really appreciated them taking such good care of the details ! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND M and K Auto Repair !

I'm very happy to report that Lake Oswego Transmission is not one of those shops and definitely renewed my faith in the industry. I recently bought an '87 Ford Tempo and had noticed some transmission issues for a couple of days and just kept hoping they would go away. Yeah, right. Coffee in hand and about to head to work, the old Tempo decides that she's had enough and told me so by not shifting past 1st gear. Not knowing where to turn and completely frazzled I recalled seeing one of those local coupon magazines in my mail a few days earlier. I sifted through my recycling bin and found their ad and gave them a call. The owner Ken told me that he was looking at a pretty full schedule that day but if I could limp my car in he would try to fit me in and see what the problem was. Within minutes of showing up at the shop Ken had my car in their very clean facility and popped the hood. Seconds later he found the problem, a broken dohicky/thingamajig that was an easy and inexpensive fix. I was thrilled but only for minutes, unfortunately. Ken offered to also put the old girl up on the lift and do a visual inspection since I was there anyway. Of course, I couldn't get off so darn easy as he showed me an obviously blown cv joint/transaxle thingamabob. It was painfully clear that my girl needed some love and I was delighted when Ken gave me the estimate for the parts and labor(providing he didn't find any additional problems) and said it should be done the same day. So, I managed a ride to work and left the old girl with Ken and waited for the dreaded call where the guy tells you that she needs a complete overhaul and that it will take a few days and cost more than I make in a week. That didn't happen. Instead, Ken called me and told me the old girl's tranny was working just fine and gave me the good news that he was right in line with the earlier estimate. The story gets even better, however. My car was missing/hesitating badly before I brought it into the shop and I told Ken about it when I dropped her off. With my limited mechanical skills I managed to replace the fuel filter, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor a few weeks prior but nothing I did fixed the problem. When Ken called me he told me one of the cylinders was dropping and that he'd be happy to try to find and fix the problem. He found that I had a bad plug wire, slapped a new set of them in and got my old girl purring like a kitten again. He even stayed late to get the work done for me and did it all for what I considered a very fair price. A long-winded story, I know. But I just want everyone in the Lake Oswego/Tigard/Tualatin area to know just how good the service was, how fair and honest Ken was and that I will definitely refer my friends and family to him in the future.

This ended up being the case (so user error but he didn't try and do an unnecessary "repair". He also then replaced my brake pads for half the price the dealership quoted. That same week, I also got a recall on my car, (symptoms are the same as why I went back to complain to him after he did an oil change) and if I took it back to the dealer they will fix it for free. Honesty, is the best policy! Either that, or they're just pretending they know about why the light on my car was giving me a 'warning' signal. But trying to trust them, and paying for maintenance my car didn't need - yet - is not being truthful to the customer. How can I trust them and go back after that?

I brought my new Mazda CX7 to Repair Right for an alignment, new tire installation/balancing and an oil change. When I picked up the car Richard explained to me that everything went well, but he couldn't figure out how to turn off the tire-pressure indicator light on the dashboard. His advice was to read the manual. This should have been my first clue that something was off. One day later I realized the steering wheel was shuddering hard above 60 MPH and I could not make the tire pressure indicator light go off after following the instructions. I brought the car in that week for a re-examination, this is when I met Kevin (the owner). He came on a ride with me but could not feel the shudder and told me not to worry, he's been doing this over twenty years and everything was fine. Then he mentioned that he was not really sure what work was done on the car because they had taken it to Les Schwab for the alignment and tire install. WTF? I brought the car to these guys to support the local guy and they took it Les Schwab? On a Friday I brought the car to the Milwaukie dealership for an inspection. Things started to get really interesting. The dealer found 3 main problems. 1. Someone lost, or never reinstalled the tire pressure sensor for one of the tires. This is the reason why the indicator light was on. 2. The tires had never been balanced. Zero balancing weights. This was causing the shudder in the steering wheel. 3. The alignment was way off. This also causes a shudder. After fixing the problems at the dealership all is well with the car. However, problems with Kevin at Repair Right are not. I contacted Kevin after the dealer repairs and explained to him that I needed a refund for the work I contracted them to do and they failed to complete (alignment and tire balancing) I also asked for him to refund the $88 for new tire pressure sensor. After 2 months and 5 phone calls I received a check from Kevin for $40 and a copy of his receipt from Les Schwab. Obviously this was lower than I expected. I called Kevin that day and explained to him my disappointment. I explained that I don't give a flying fuck what Les Schwab refunded him, I didn't take my car to Les Schwab, I took it to him at Repair Right. I was upset at this point and I did raise my voice when I told him that it was his responsibility to make this right. At this point in the conversation he said, "You know what; I want you to come down here right now so I can beat the piss out of you, because you're a whiner." Seriously...he threatened to beat me up!!! Well, if you call someone who dislikes getting fucked by mechanics a whiner, then I guess I'm your guy. Needless to say I won't be returning to Repair Right and they should receive a small claims notice from the court soon. I could use all kinds of adjectives as part of a rant but here are the simple facts of what they did (and didn't) do and you can decide for yourself. Monday a.m. - dropped car off per their phone call for a roof repair and new windshield, even though they didn't yet have the windshield. I gave them my contact information and they said they would text me updates. Wednesday p.m. - not a word from them. Called to find out I wasn't getting updates because the front office person had failed to do the final "click" to get my info into their system. Windshield still not in. Thursday - Without having updated me, and with no windshield in sight, I learned that they had taken the headliner and interior trim off anyway, making the car underivable even if I had wanted to take it home at that point. Thursday p.m. I then get a call from my insurance company adjustor who tells me they took a closer look at the roof and decided it was not a repair job but a replacement and that the repair cost is now more than the car's market value. (The shop had earlier told me - twice - that they believed they could fix it.) Friday - Now needing to get the car off their lot, both the insurance adjustor and I call them and they promise to have it put together first thing Monday a.m. so I can take it home. (Roof damage aside, it is in good shape.) Monday a.m. - I arrive first thing and am told the car is not ready and won't be til 11 because their detail guy still needs to remove the writing all over the windows and "won't have time" to do that til 11. After waiting a bit (this is our only car and the shop is several miles from our house), I finally insist they just bring the car upfront, give me a cloth and I will wipe it off myself. This shames them into cleaning it off themselves - however, when they bring it up front, I see that the only thing they have done is put the headliner back in. Instead of putting the rest of it back together, they have shoved all the interior trim parts into a big box (so big that it blocks the rear view mirror), along with all of our personal belongings. They tell me that "it's pretty easy" to put the trim pieces back in myself! Monday p.m. - I go to empty the big box and find that the jug of oil they had shoved into it had leaked all over the interior of the box. I also realize that they had not even put the sun visors back on nor the trim that covers the seat belts, neither of which is "easy" to do, at least for someone like me. Through it all, never even a single word of apology. How's that for customer service?
