We recently had lunch at Rainforest Cafe inside Sawgrass Mills, and it turned out to be a really fun family outing. I highly recommend it for families with kids. The atmosphere is definitely the highlight. The whole restaurant is designed like a jungle, and it really feels like you're dining in the rainforest. Every 20 minutes there's a thunderstorm with lightning effects, animal sounds, and moving animals that the kids absolutely loved. The menu has plenty of options. My daughters ordered the Pepperoni Pizza with corn and fresh fruit on the side, apple juice, and grilled chicken with fruit (orange slices and grapes). They were also given coloring menus and crayons, which kept them entertained while waiting for the food. I had the Caesar Salad with shrimp, and the portion was huge. Our friends ordered fish tacos and soup, and everyone enjoyed their meals. There's also a large gift shop attached to the restaurant with souvenirs for every budget. My younger daughter picked out a cute Labubu-style toy for around $10, while my older daughter found some tiny collectible fairies for about $5 each. Another plus is the convenient location. It's right by the main entrance of Sawgrass Mills, across from Starbucks, so you don't have to walk far after parking. There is stroller parking inside as well. Lunch for three people came to about $58 including tip, which felt reasonable considering the portion sizes and experience. Before entering the mall, we rented one of the double shopping carts with seats for two kids. It was surprisingly useful! I was able to fit both girls, hang our stroller, carry shopping bags, coffee, water, and even use the phone holder. The rental cost was $12, and you get $1 back when you return it to the designated area. The only disappointment was that we were excited about the indoor playground we had seen in older Google photos, but unfortunately it has been removed for quite some time. We were hoping for a place where the kids could play before shopping and lunch. Also, we were surprised that the mall itself doesn't offer many entertainment options for children. Overall, our girls had a wonderful time, and we'd definitely come back for the unique atmosphere and family-friendly experience. read more

Let me start by saying I wasn't expecting a Michelin-star meal here. But when entrees are pushing $30+, I do expect the food and service to be better than what we experienced. We came on Saturday to celebrate my grandson's 4th birthday because this was his restaurant of choice. To their credit, we were seated within about five minutes. Unfortunately, that was probably the highlight of the service. There were no utensils or napkins on the table, and we had to ask for them after our food arrived. We started with the queso and chips. The chips were stale, and the queso was so runny it was more like cheese soup. For entrees, we ordered the bourbon meatloaf, shrimp sampler, and steak and shrimp. The shrimp sampler and meatloaf were honestly terrible. Every shrimp was overcooked and lacked flavor. Ironically, the kids' mac & cheese was the best thing we ate. When the children's side dish outshines $30 entrees, that says quite a bit. We also ordered the volcano dessert with sparklers for my grandson. Cute presentation for a birthday, but definitely overrated and not very good. And then there was the service. I asked four times for a box to take home the leftover mac & cheese. Four. I don't lie. We've eaten here before because the boys love watching the animals, and that part is definitely fun for them. But after spending $175 on a meal that was disappointing in both food and service, I have to say this visit was a hard pass. We were a party of 8 (4 adults and 4 kids), and the service was unbelievably slow despite there being only about four tables occupied in the entire restaurant and at least three servers working. It took 40 minutes just to receive our appetizer. Then we waited another 45 minutes for two of the kids' meals, followed by an additional 30 minutes for the other two kids' entrees. The adult meals didn't arrive until about an hour and a half after we ordered. Zero refills the entire time we were there. With the restaurant nearly empty, there's no excuse for that kind of wait. I can't imagine how long it would take on a busy day. Waiting that long is especially difficult when you're dining with young children. Unfortunately, this experience was frustrating from start to finish, and we won't be returning. read more

I didn't even know Rainforest cafe existed anymore so I was very excited when I saw it in the map! I had to bring my kids. The place was pretty empty on a Monday afternoon, which was great! we got to pick exactly where we wanted to seat, although our waitress didn't seem thrilled that we asked where to be seated. The restaurant was surprisingly well kept and didn't look dingy or unkept. It was however way smaller than what I remembered (I visited a different location as a kid). The menu was overpriced for the type of food you would get at a place like this, so my husband and I opted to skip the meal and only order food for the kids. The kids menu was fair and well priced, most meals were $8.99 for a kid entre, side and drink. My girls got Dino nuggets with Mc and cheese and apple juice and 2 sliders with fruit and apple juice. They both enjoyed their meals and were in awe of the animals around us! The ambiance was great! Service wasn't great. Our waitress wasn't very friendly or warm but she was helpful. What a great atmosphere! My family and I absolutely loved dining here. This restaurant fully commits to its theme in the best possible way. The exterior is inviting, and once inside, the experience only gets better. You enter through the gift shop before making your way to the host stand, which immediately sets the tone. They also offer a complimentary photo upon arrival, which is printed and brought to your table. Additional photo packages and keepsakes are available for purchase if you'd like them. Each seating area has its own animal theme, with a mix of booths and tables throughout the restaurant. We were lucky enough to get a corner booth with a great view of the dining room. To enhance the atmosphere, the lighting is kept fairly dim, which fits the theme well but is worth noting. The decor is impressive from floor to ceiling. Throughout the meal, the animated animals and ceiling come to life during themed shows featuring thunder, lightning, animal sounds, and playful interactions. Some of the animals move, and many have glowing, blinking eyes. There are also several fish tanks located near the entrance and throughout the restaurant, which add even more to the experience. The menu offers a good variety of Caribbean, seafood, and American dishes. They also have a children's menu that doubles as an activity book and comes with crayons, which was a nice touch. We ordered a kids' meal that my nephew loved. My sister and I shared the Bruschetta Chicken, which came with two generous chicken breasts, shrimp, and a side of Alfredo pasta. We also ordered a side of seasonal mixed vegetables. Everything tasted great. The chicken was incredibly juicy and flavorful, and the bruschetta topping added a fresh touch. The breading was delicious and paired well with both the pasta and vegetables. Portions were generous (although the side of veggies could have been more, it actually seemed a bit skimped), and the pricing felt very reasonable for the overall experience. Our server was just okay, but every other team member we interacted with was wonderful. The hosts, food runners, and photography staff were all friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this spot. It's my nephew's favorite place to eat, and after this visit, it's easy to see why! read more

First time going to Rainforest Cafe in all my years in South Florida and it's exactly what you think it is unfortunately. The food was decent, the restaurant is beautifully decorated BUT it's incredibly dark for the most part. The service was not it. Kinda ruined the whole experience which would've otherwise been average to above average. Took forever to get drinks, dang near half an hour for appetizers. To top it off it took around 20 minutes after eating to even find our waitress to ask for a check. Will I be back? Unlikely, but please do better next time read more

We had a reservation at Rainforest Cafe, but still had to wait an additional 45 minutes to be seated. Honestly, what's the point of a reservation if it doesn't hold your spot? That part was very frustrating. On the positive side, the atmosphere is great and the animals are super realistic, and the kids absolutely loved it. The food was actually pretty decent too, better than I expected for a themed restaurant. Food also takes a long time...so hopefully you aren't in a rush or with fussy kids. Overall, fun for the kids and worth it for the experience, but be prepared to wait even if you book ahead. read more

My boyfriend and I sat at the bar for a drinks and an app and got incredibly fast, knowledgable and warm service from Felix. He made us feel special and welcome even though we arrived pretty soon before close. I recommend his Mai Tai. The ambiance is obviously through the roof. In a world of homogeneous beige restaurants, Rainforest cafes are a cultural relic that should be cherished. You're getting campy and magical live theater!! The only one minus star was for the food wait. It took around 20-30 minutes for the food to come, but it was freshly cooked and still really hot. The area was amazing! My little boy who is 5 1/2 years old really love the fish tanks, rainbow hippo and the elephant that moves and honk once in a while. The ambiance was really very welcoming for all ages.. we missed this resto when they have one in Chicago. The food were awesome! And very big portions..no wonder it is priced this much. This rainforest themed chain restaurant located in The Sawgrass Mills Mall in Sunrise offers classic fare among jungle flora and animatronic animals. They also have a gift shop, aquariums and jungle decor while waiting for your table. It is a great place for families. It does feel a bit humid and a little smelly from the jungle fog that is produced. I had the Fish and Chips $24.99 and substituted the fries for mash potatoes, also coleslaw. It was all so delicious. Over the past weekend, I visited rainforest Café with my niece and her boyfriend for dinner. Inside the restaurant, it is very beautiful. There are many large fish tanks that has tropical fish and some other beautiful creatures in them. Obviously the theme of the restaurant is a rainforest so there are lots of greenery and many different species of animals throughout the restaurant (not live), and some of them come to life every now and then. The scenery and the animal makes this place very unique and it's the most special part about rainforest Café.. however their food and their service is not top-tier. I was far from impressed with their menu. We tried very hard to choose an appetizer, but we just could not pick one. None of the appetizers seemed interesting or different for us to want to try for a rainforest themed restaurant.. we ordered a couple drinks, some margaritas and Mojito and then we went on straight to ordering our main course. We got two different types of pasta and a sandwich which came with french fries. The food is very mediocre. There is not a wow factor in it, which would make me want to say 'oh my I can't wait to return and have this again'.. I honestly hate to say this, but the food there is very bland. What made the sandwich dish stand out was that it was served with a curry dipping sauce other than that it was a standard fried chicken breast on a potato bun alongside some french fries fries. The service here was not the best. I have been to other places and have received much greater service at more lower end places.. our server took a while arrive at our table once we were seated, it was all of our first time here so we did need a moment to look over the menu to figure out what exactly we. She came back to the table twice and at that point we just said OK we're ready to order.. our order was placed and 15-20 minutes later food came out. Somebody was assisting our server to bring out food, and she was very confused as to which person ordered what dish.. personally if I had to pay my own money to come to this restaurant, I would probably pass. I obviously came for dinner because I was given a gift card and instead of wasting it, we decided to have dinner here while my niece was visiting me over the weekend.. it is not somewhere that I plan on returning back to. The restaurant like I said before it's very nice and it's entertaining. Maybe if you have small children, they might find it enjoyable. Drinks price seem very high and most of their drinks come in a souvenir glass which our server said that we cannot opt out of. Basically you are spending $15 for a margarita and you're paying for the glass which if you leave behind you'll feel guilty because you literally just paid for it. Took my children here for a birthday. I was pleasantly surprised by the food. I enjoyed everything we had. The coconut shrimp and sauce were a big hit! The ambiance was nice although I do think it's way too dark inside. I could barely see the menu. Every so often they would have a small display with lights and sounds of the rainforest. I've been here a few times now and have had good experiences. The service was quick and friendly. This is located in the Sawgrass Mills Mall; parking is plenty but most times you do have to walk far. The restaurant is located behind the store; the store is eye catching and decorated like a jungle. A huge talking tree, a hanging gorilla, and a slithering snake to name a few. There's a huge fish tank and a bar with rainfall around the perimeter. Inside the restaurant, there were lions and various of other jungle animals that move and make sounds periodically. The food and drinks I've had were great. I've had the pastalaya and BBQ bacon cheeseburger; those entrees were good! If you have children they will be thrilled! My toddler loves this place. I look forward to going back when I'm back in town. read more

I ate at Rainforest Cafe this weekend for a kids' birthday dinner celebration. The place is super cute and unique! It was my first time here and I was not expecting such an immersive environment with a large gift shop and actual rainforest decor. I got the Korean chicken lettuce wraps and they were super crispy and delicious. This is not the most upscale restaurant ever but it's such a fun place particularly for kids. The service was a bit slow. They had a lot of customers and seemed a bit overwhelmed. Also, the bathrooms smelled bad and were quite dirty. I recommend that they pay more attention to the cleanliness of their restrooms as it's a reflection of the overall cleanliness of their restaurant. Came in around 6:00 pm today before the Seventeen concert happening at Amerant right next to the mall. Not busy, and was brought to a table quickly. Felix, our server, was super nice and got us our drinks and food within 15 mins! Felix recommend the cheetah rita for a sour drink for my friend, and I went with the strawberry mojito -- both were on point! Food was HOT (we got the caribbean coconut shrimp and korean fried chicken lettuce wraps (these are spicy but good)) and had good delicious crunches with big portions! We got to experience the thunderstorm (fitting for Seventeen -- alo alo T-H-U-N-D-E-R) and lots to look at inside and in the gift shop. Dont understand all the low reviews. Ive been here to eat with my kids years ago and it was the atmosphere that went well beyond the taste of the food. Large menus are placed out front for browsing. We walked in to find out the Happy Hour specials but just missed it (due to the wife's shopping) But, we spoke with the overly personable bartender and she explained some of the food items on the Happy Hour menu. For $30 you get a mexican assortment of finger food plenty for two or three people. In addition, they did offer craft beer and my wife's favorite Coke ICEE machine in the bar (she usually adds a shot of rum). Maybe they should add that to the happy hour menu as a special. Anyways, the decor actually felt as if we were in the rainforest. Every inch of the place was trees and large motion pieces. We are definately going to this happy hour in a few days and we wont be late again. Strong 4.5 stars do to the atmosphere. I think kids and adults would like it here. read more

This place is a typical tourist attraction located in a busy mall and kids walking by will be begging their parents to go. The service was decent. The quality of the food was poor. The food lacks seasoning and was lukewarm. Prices are very high compared to the quality of food that you received. I ordered fish and it was extremely bland. My vegetables taste like rubber and the mango salsa was flavorless. We ordered ice cream sandwiches for dessert and it was nothing spectacular that you can't buy at your local grocery store. The animal show is a hit and miss and it's possibly time for an upgrade. The fish tank was amazing and it was fun to watch the fish swim around. There's a gift shop up upon exiting and everything is overpriced. Typical toys you can pick up at Walmart for half the price. read more

I came here while on an early birthday vacation for my daughter. She has been to the one in Ontario, California, and is on a mission to visit almost all of them. We made reservations through Google Maps (which I think uses OpenTable to complete the reservation). We were immediately seated, and our server, Fabian, was amazing--knowledgeable, nice, quick, personable, and patient as we took some time with the menu while soaking in the ambiance. The ambiance was as nice as usual, with plants and flowers placed throughout, and an actual rain shower circling the bar. The furniture by the bar is also animal leg-themed, so when you sit down, it looks like you have animal legs and are standing up, as my daughter pointed out. The animatronics, sound quality, lighting--everything was on point, just as it usually is. There was also another server who brought out the food; I didn't catch her name, but she was funny and equally as nice. Now, onto the food--this is where they fell a little short. I had the rasta pasta with chicken, and my daughter had the sirloin steak with mashed potatoes. Compared to the other location we've been to, the food was better there. However, it was still tasty. I just feel it was a little pricey for the quality we received. On the bright side, we did get cool souvenir glasses that Fabian cleaned out and gave back to us to take home. All in all, it was a great experience, as it always is. We would come back to this location, though. It's a shame that they aren't doing well and are closing so many of their locations. So, I highly recommend going to one if you have never been, so you don't miss your opportunity. read more

The food was terrible. Ordered steak and shrimp medium, got well done, vegetables were undercooked. Wife got something with salmon, the veggies had started spoiling. Aside from my toddler's food, everything else took a while. The only one who really enjoyed the food was my kid who ate the fries and not the Mac and cheese which was also not very good. The service was ok, I wouldn't check in the table very often if I had nothing to bring them either. As far as atmosphere, in a mostly empty restaurant we were sat as far from any of the attractions as possible. The manager discounted some of the food, offered to replace but the kid was getting fussy, and we still left a tip as it wasn't the waitress' fault. One for location near the Sawgrass Mills Mall that I love, one for atmosphere and one because my family visiting from out of town wanted to eat here. To me it's like being at Disney World too touristy. There's other restaurants nearby that I definitely prefer. Service wasn't an issue but even when I went to the Rainforest Cafe in Minneapolis I still felt it's overpriced. If you want the experience just once then you should try Rainforest Cafe. Huge storm was passing while trying to leave so decided to wait it out at the Lava Bar (bar area located inside Rainforest Cafe). Got a Makers on the rocks so I can't comment as to how their mixed drinks are but they do have a wide selection. The theming is also pretty awesome, even in the bar. Staff was friendly but understaffed. They had a lot of people sitting around and at the bar being helped by 1, maybe 2 people. They should try to staff them up a little more cause you can tell they were getting overworked. Hope corporate reads that. Pricing is a little high for drinks (paid $13 plus tip for a 2oz pour of Makers), but that's to be expected at the Rainforest Cafe. read more

Rainforest Café is a great place to bring your young children to, especially if it is their first time visiting ever. I love the theme and ambiance of the restaurant. The "shows" happen quite often during your meal. Service here is friendly and constant too. Food menu needs a revamp though. The menu is a bit outdated and could use some new options. read more

Rainforest cafe is kind of exactly what one might expect it to be. Mediocre food, mediocre service, pretty fun atmosphere. If you are a Landry's member, you get priority seating, so that's pretty cool. I recently visited this particular Rainforest location and our server was pretty inattentive. She brighten me the wrong drink and forgot part of my order. She didn't really check in on us throughout the meal. The most engaged and animated she got was at the end of our meal when we referenced a pretty popular YouTube video about the Rainforest Cafe. I think my takeaway is this. If you expect a mediocre experience at best, you won't be disappointed. If you expect a great experience, be prepared to be disappointed. The live fish tanks in this restaurant are very cool though, I have to say. I really hope they are appropriately taken care of. read more
