My wife and I have mixed feelings about this review because we genuinely like this restaurant and the people who work there. We visited Rainy Days Café the weekend before the Fourth of July and had a wonderful experience. The food was excellent, and the service was fantastic. That's exactly why we decided to come back for breakfast on the Fourth of July. We arrived around 11:05 a.m. and were seated just after a table of 12. Our waitress, who was incredibly sweet and kind throughout the entire experience, told us she was able to get our order into the kitchen before the large party. Shortly afterward, a table of seven and then a table of six were seated outside after us. A while later, the owner personally came to our table to apologize and explained that our ticket had been lost and our breakfast had never been made. We really appreciated her honesty and the fact that she came out herself to explain what happened. At that point, we weren't upset because we understand mistakes happen, especially in a busy, family-owned restaurant on the Fourth of July. While we continued waiting, our waitress refilled our coffee, and we asked if we could have a cinnamon roll while waiting for our breakfast. It wasn't meant to replace our meal--just something to hold us over since we'd already been waiting quite a while. The owner later returned and very graciously told us our breakfast would be complimentary because we had been waiting nearly two hours. We appreciated that gesture. Unfortunately, the wait continued. During that time, the table of seven and the table of six--both seated after us--received and finished their meals while we still had nothing. With about 15 minutes left before closing, we finally went inside and asked if they could simply make our breakfast to go. That's when everyone realized there had been another misunderstanding. Our waitress had thought that when we asked for the cinnamon roll, we had decided that was all we wanted, so our breakfast order had been canceled--even though it had never actually been made in the first place. I truly believe this was an honest miscommunication, not a lack of caring. Our waitress remained kind and attentive the entire time, and the owner did everything she could once she realized the original mistake. Unfortunately, a series of communication breakdowns resulted in us sitting in the restaurant for over two hours, watching at least 30 people who arrived after us receive their meals, before ultimately leaving hungry and having to find another place to eat. This was incredibly disappointing because we know how good this restaurant can be. We will likely give Rainy Days Café another chance because our previous visit was so positive, and I genuinely believe this was an unfortunate chain of mistakes rather than a reflection of the people who work there. I hope they can use this experience to improve communication between the front of the businesss and the kitchen because the food is worth coming back for, and the staff clearly cares about their customers. read more

I haven't been to this restaurant in a long time. The last time I was there, I didn't feel like a valued customer. Now, they are under new ownership. The service is a lot better. Rainy Day has outside dining, but it was a rather chilly morning, so everyone was eating inside. The place was crowded, but we managed to find a lone table tucked in the corner. Prices, I thought, were reasonable. Service was friendly and the food was tasty. My only complaint would be the uncomfortable wooden chairs. If I were dining by myself, it wouldn't be a big deal as I would be in and out in around 20 minutes. This time I had a partner with me, so of course we lingered longer. I'll be back to this place in the future, but as a lone diner. read more

Rainy Days Cafe is a great choice if you're looking for a breakfast that feels homemade. I got my usual eggs, potatoes, and toast and was really happy with the result! The potato's were not greasy at all and the bread was excellent. Also love that they bring your table a coffee carafe so you never run out. Service was great as well. Everything came out quickly and our waitress was very kind and happy to help. Prices are reasonable and they've got a pretty large array of options. Only downside is the hours are short and there's VERY limited seating, so you'll want to plan accordingly. read more

The day (6/23/25) was very hot. We had to leave before we got our breakfast because had a heat exhaustion attack. They do not have air condition. We changed the order to go and ate in the air condition car. We will not go back on hot days. The place is small and when it is filled with customers and no AC it is not good. The last time I was at Rainy Day Cafe was 5 years ago. At that time, all I remember was that I didn't feel welcomed. It was all business from the server whom I felt was trying to get me to quickly eat and get out the door! It was that feeling that made me put this place on the do not patronize list. I've heard others echo the same feelings. Now why am I back? I wanted to get breakfast at Sporty's Cafe....that's a little diner in the back of a dive bar with the same name. But I show up there and the manager tells me they no longer serve breakfast! So I'm down the street at Rainy Day. As soon as I walk in I found a table, was greeted by an enthusiastic server and promptly brought my coffee. After a few minutes the server is back, she rattles off the day's specials, but I chose an omelet. The food arrived in about 4 minutes. The omelet was small and arrived on a small plate. The server kept my coffee cup warm. While the size of the omelet was not huge, it was adequate. I don't like having leftovers or stuffing myself anyway. I know a lot of restaurants have these huge portions that perhaps many people like to take home the leftovers. You won't have to do that here. I thought to myself how the general attitude of this restaurant has changed since my last visit. Later on, I noted a newspaper clipping on the wall that explained the restaurant was under new ownership. All for the better. Rainy Day Cafe is a rather small cozy restaurant with a small adjacent parking lot. I was there on the weekend so there was quite a crowd, but the servers were on top of their game. Overall a good experience. However, one incident rubbed me the wrong way. Otherwise I would have rated this place 4-stars. If you don't pay with cash, you get charged an extra 3%. Don't get me wrong....there is a sign at the door and at the cash register clearly spelling that out, so it's not a last minute surprise. But I thought that was rather petty, as I know of no other restaurant in this area that does this. read more

Local cafe, but food took forever. We waited almost an hour after we ordered, and we just ordered basic breakfast.

A little cold outside (but not raining) meant yet another COVID-19 socially distanced meal at an outdoor table. Our server was a hoot...she and my wife got along famously! We ordered our coffees and settled in on one of their famous stuffed hashbrown dishes (this one, a Greek special) along with an off-menu "secret" item called the Once in a Blue Moon. The Greek stuffed hashbrowns was a special (on-menu) item which has a pile of hashbrowns covering loads of gyro meat layered with onions, tomatoes and tzatziki sauce accompanied by two slices of toast. Gyro for breakfast anyone?!?!? Yum yum! The Once in a Blue Moon (off-menu special) consisted of four thick-cut slices of French toast with a layer of cream cheese in-between, then topped with a blueberry sauce loaded with fresh blueberries and finally a dollop of whipped cream. It was not as sweet as I'd anticipated but still very satisfying. The French toast seemed Texas-toast like in nature and was moist, warm and perfect for this dish. Terrific meal and great service...easily a place we'd return to on a future trip to the area. read more

Stopped in about 9:30 on a Sunday morning for breakfast. Small place with only about a dozen seats inside, but there were only a couple of people here when I arrived so I grabbed a seat right away. Specials written on the board and menus on the table.. I did the 2 eggs, meat, potato and toast ($7.19) and a coffee ($1.99). The service was great.. I barely had a chance to take a few drinks of coffee before my server was around to offer me a warm up. Food came out quickly and was delicious. I love hash browns and my plate was covered in them, and they were GOOD! Eggs were just how I liked them.. over medium almost to the point of being over hard. Great little place!! read more

The place is very small so waiting for a table was awkward, just felt like we were in the way no matter where we stood. The staff was friendly and always kept the coffee full. The tables need dried off after cleaning, I don't enjoy sitting at a wet table. The menus need cleaned, I was handed one with syrup spilled on it. The food was fresh and very tasty. 3% card fee... Usually it's a flat 50¢. Why does the charge increase with the bill?? Not a bad experience but I'll probably opt for another place around town next time. read more

Ordered three sheepherders after hearing they brought back the local fav from a closed restaurant, no cheese on ANY of them. Two of them were to go, and when my dad asked about his (in restaurant having no cheese) they said he didn't get the right kind of potatoes (huh?), but the to go ones did have the correct kind, and still no cheese, which is the best part! Disappointing when the bill was over $30. Portions were also nowhere near the size posted by the owners friends on FB which was another disappointment. read more

Hidden gem. If you like real home fries, this is your place. They are soo good. I had Denver omelet and it was delicious. Prices are lower her as well bc it's more of a local restaurant. Rainy Day Cafe is the cutest little cafe plopped down in a super weird area. We came here based on the reviews and called ahead to see if pups were allowed on the patio - and the were! We sat outside on an overcast morning - which we found hilarious considering the name. Service was smiley and friendly. Our server ran down a list of her favorites. This place does not hold back on the calories. It is a true diner and the owner opened it simply because he likes to cook. You can get a simple breakfast or something smothered, covered and everything in between. We opted for an omelette, a bacon egg and cheese bagel and a cup of gravy. Both were good and exactly what we were looking for. Not the highest quality, but better than average diner food for sure. I would come back for breakfast, but if you want alcohol (bloodies, mimosas etc,) and or an atmosphere I would skip this joint. Simple, no frills diner. 4 stars. read more

I have this a two star because of the cute little tucked away location and super friendly waitress. However the food was pretty awful. Pancake was dripping in butter, hash browns were tasteless and cool (I couldn't eat more than one bite), and fruit plate was a bit of a joke-looked like something I'd cut up and throw on a plate for my kids (4 apple slices, 4 orange slices and some grapes rolling around on the plate for $6!). Rainy Day Cafe is a cute little hometown breakfast joint that I would definitely try again. Food was good- I got the Alice Omelet that had all the veggies, cheddar and hash browns IN it which I liked! I wish I could have tried the special French toast (think blueberry drizzle and cream cheese YUM) but had to limit myself today. The service was great- super friendly staff but it did take longer to get our food and they seemed to be a bit under staffed. The only reason I gave two stars was the fact that the service was friendly and reasonably prompt. The stuffed hash browns were not cooked, the peppers and mushrooms were still cold! The scrambled eggs were from liquid eggs and tasteless. The toast was dripping clarified butter. And when the breeze was right, the smell of the wastewater treatment plant across the street was unpleasant. I would skip this place, there are much better places in town. read more

We arrived when there was 1 table still opened inside the cafe, bust since its so nice out, we sat at the 1 of 2 remaining opened tables outside. The food was amazing. I have the Greek Omelette and it was surprisingly delicious. The wheat toast was good as well. Even though the cafe got crazy after we sat down, the atmosphere was stellar. Super cute place. We love the building, the servers and the patrons. Great small town feel diner with a surprisingly large menu. Their blueberry "Once in a Blue Moon" stuffed french toast is absolutely delish. I also like their veggie sandwich that they serve on a hoagie roll that they grill. Been here a few times with spouse and children. Pros - Food is always good, priced appropriately and with a hearty portion. Servers are quite friendly. Good "mom and pop" Americana restaurant. Cons - Noise control is horrific given the place is extremely small....frequently slamming plates and silverware, cook yelling when an order is up, etc.....seem to forget how small it is....smaller the place the quieter it needs to be.
