They steal - do not go here. They charged our card twice, said there "was an error" and that they needed another card. They charged that one as well - overcharging us by about $100. They slightly altered the $ amount when they charged the first card for a second time. If it was an accident, why would the bill change? It wouldn't. But different amounts keep credit card companies from detecting the fraud. I hoped it was a misunderstanding, despite how bad it looked. So I drove all the way down there, baby in tow. When I got there I explained what happened only for them to rudely dismiss me and walk away. They said the manager wasn't there so too bad. First of all, I find it very hard to believe that they were operating without anyone of authority present. Second, I insisted they at least call the manager or do something to return the money they wrongfully took, but they refused. They claimed they didn't have contact information for the manager. Finally as a concession and to get me to leave, they told me to leave my name and number and that the manager would call me to fix it. No surprise - they never called me back. Came in on Saturday morning, told where we could sit. We chose the back area and waited and waited. Two servers came in and out several times to check on other customers and ignored us. After the fourth time we left, we will not be coming back even though we've heard good things about food. read more

Good breakfast. Had the sausage and buscuits & gravy. Bacon was fresh and crispy the way i wanted it.

I like breakfast here. The big chief omlette. It doesn't require alot of wampum and gives you good results in the stink lodge.

We were looking for a neighborhood, friendly restaurant that served homemade food. We were very impressed with both the high quality of food and extremely pleasant waitstaff. My wife asked for changes to her omelette, and she was very well accommodated. We both noticed that tables were quickly cleaned after becoming vacated. I can highly recommend the lake perch basket, with fries and fresh cut coleslaw. Her farmer's omelette, without olives, was wonderful! Next time, I'm certain to try the hot beef sandwich. We are regulars to this restaurant. Today while eating my breakfast I pulled a very long hair out of my mouth. It took several minutes to flag our server down to tell her. She took my plate but did not offer to make anything else for me a and truly acted like she didn't care. Pretty disappointed in our service today. read more

Cherokee was always a staple growing up when we'd go on vacation in Muskegon - a place I always looked forward to going. Sadly, it's a shadow of its former self. The service is still great, but the food is phoned in. Omelette was runny to the point of being inedible, "fresh" peaches were from the can, and the pancakes were rubbery. The decor also needs an update. Sad to see a Muskegon institution go downhill like this, but the food quality is now well below Denny's. An injection of pride and effort would go a long way toward bringing it back. read more

Gotta love a place based on Injun lore with an Injun theme, name, and burgers named after Injuns and other cultural rarities. Don't be fooled though, just an old time diner with true diner food. Nice people and nice formica tables. read more

I can't believe that I was really served scrambled eggs with a SLICE of cheese on top.. never in my life have I been served scrambled eggs with A SLICE OF CHEESE. I loved the service and the feel of the restaurant but it does need some updating. read more

I'm a vegetarian and I ordered the stuffed hash brown with no meat! When my hash browns got to the table it was full of bacon! I was nice and politely asked for a new one, when my new one got to the table clear as day there was a piece of bacon on my plate so I asked the waitress to just take it off the bill. She brought it to the back and took the bacon off & tried to give it to me once again & I nicely told her no Thank-you and she walked away smirking like I was being ridiculous or something. read more

The food is generally good. Portions are usually big. Actually, too big. I'd rather have them drop the prices and provide less food. The inside could use an updating, but the service is almost always fine. It's a nice place to go. Advice: do not sit near the back door (to the far left when you enter the restaurant) in winter. I came in with two of my boys and had breakfast. The food was OK at best, nothing I would come back for. The service was terrible! When the food came out they gave me my food first, and had only given one of my boys their food. As my son waited for his food he of course started crying (he's 2), so we all waited to eat. We ended up waiting another 5 minutes to get his plate, and still didn't have syrup for our pancakes. After a while I realized that I wasn't going to get any real service so I got up, went to a dirty table and took the syrup that was left on their table, luckily it was a bottle of syrup or we would've had to wait even longer. I couldn't believe how bad the service was given that it wasn't busy, and their was at least two waitresses working. The decor is really tacky and outdated too. read more

This place is pretty terrible. I live walking distance and still never go based on my experience here. I tried this place twice after moving into the area. The first time I waited over an hour for cold breakfast food and the second time the turkey on one of our sandwiches was completely frozen. I'd give the place one star but the waitress was great each time so they get a bonus point for that -- but if you're looking for food go to one of the other great places to eat in Muskegon, this place is beyond mediocre and easily one of the worst in the area. read more

Microwaved pasties that leave you wishing for something else. Served cold vegetables. Decor needs drastic updating. Ripped seats and booths had yellow duck type tape. Went with 3 other family members and while staff friendly food poor. BTW, the pastie nor the meatloaf our group ordered looked anything like the posted pics. If you're looking for kitzchy kitchens, look no further. I was checking out lighthouses on Michigan's West Coast, and found this gem...couldn't decide if I should be offended or not and went with "not." How could I not want to walk through a door that is a tee pee? Formica tables, good old fashioned menu, and hamburgers named after "injuns." I went with the pasties. Good diner food and step back in time. Lots of fun, and easy on the pocketbook! read more

Cherokee is Muskegon staple. The food is nothing fancy, but it is delicious. I know it seems odd given the Native American theme of the restaurant, but they have the best Wet Burrito in town. I rarely will order anything else because it is truly that good. My kids love going there, so that's always a plus. I would have given it 5 stars if the service would be a little more consistent. Sometimes the service is really slow. This is especially noticeable when you have antsy kids with you. I've heard a number of people say they didn't know they were open for dinner. Yes! This is not just a breakfast place. Try it out for dinner! read more

Just had a great brunch at this very nice local place. Delicious waffles, pancakes, eggs, bacon, all freshly prepared. Despite being very busy on a late Sunday morning, the staff seated and served us efficiently -- and with good humor. Great, bottomless coffee too. Oh, and the bathroom was super clean. The food is ok and you get a decent amount of it for a good price but the place is outdated and dingy. Stains on the ceiling and everything looks straight out of the 60's. There's also a huge pvc drainage pipe coming out of the ceiling. The last time I went, the pancakes tasted like onion. They clearly either don't clean the grill or don't use separate spots for different foods. I won't be going back. Only reason the get two stars instead of one is the service. read more
