Southwest Breakfast burrito served with sour cream and salsa on the side

Village Inn was one of our favorite places for breakfast/brunch under the previous owners and were really excited they opened again! While they are under new owners, it is still very similar to the "original". The menu is smaller, more expensive and had some interesting additions. I had the Southwest Hasbrowns made with taco meat and they were delicious. I added 2 over easy eggs to make it more breakfast-y. Jeff had Southwest burrito and it was also really good! I do miss the liquor license and having a delicious Bloody Mary at brunch. Like almost every other restaurant in the area, they were definitely lacking staff. The tables around us were REAL mad about how long their food was taking - one couple walked out before the food was delivered. There were 2 people working the whole dining room, and they were doing every thing they could. This has been a recurring theme in the area. If you have been to a restaurant in the past couple of months, you have experienced this first hand. We'll go back, but not real soon.

I decided to go to VI for the breakfast special. It's getting pretty difficult to find an inexpensive place to go for breakfast. It wasn't that long ago, before covid, that I could afford to go out and get breakfast everyday before work. Those days are behind me. Even McD's is like $8 for a fast food breakfast. I got the special at Village Inn, they have a few of them on the dry-erase board. I'm assuming they update them daily or every so often. The servers will not tell you about them and they are not on the menu, so you have to read the board before you order. I got a basic 2 eggs, bacon and toast, with coffee. A little more than $8 plus tip. So you can't complain considering this is a sit down restaurant and not a QSR. Service could of been a bit better as she seemed to hang out in the front dining room most of the time. If you haven't been here, give it a try.

    Perch& fries +slaw (extra $2).
 Total about $12.

This is the only diner in town. There are other places to eat, but this is your best bet for sit-down family meals. Prices are good. They have a $5 early bird breakfast special. I was there on a Friday, so I got the perch dinner. 2 pieces of fish, plus fries. I added cole slaw ($2). Fries were mediocre, but everything else was okay. Only two waitresses in a crowded lunch time restaurant that included two tables of old people. Usually that slows the place down, but not the day I was there. Service was friendly and prompt. Yes, I will be back again.

Good basic food, great prices, good portions, nice waitresses. Feels like a hometown place.

Some of the best breakfast around! I get the village stacker at least a few times a week! It's so good!

Still delicious and still good service…read more This past week, I went with the two eggs, which comes with diced redskin potatoes and choice of bread - I had the biscuit this time. The potatoes are so yum. This time instead of adding on the blueberry almond oatmeal, I went with the Oatcakes (pancakes made from oatmeal) which had blueberries inside. Split two cakes with my wife - enjoyed them and the cinnamon butter on top is delicious. She liked the Heartland and the kids went with French Toast plus turkey sausage.

We even ate before we went so we wouldn't get hangry, but even from the wait of being seated to the time the kitchen finally makes your plate of food, my children were almost in tears because their tummies hurt. My daughter literally only ordered yogurt and fruit. She was the LAST one served. Please train servers to get children's food out quick (for everyone's sanity). When asked how our meal was, I finally did mention that this will be our last time patronizing this establishment. Clearly they are too busy to craft a joyful and memorable experience. It's better if we find a new spot. My previous review still stands. Go if you want a good breakfast, but be prepared to wait awhile and pay a premium for it.
