The sauce its self was oily, and broth-like instead of a thick brownish/reddish paste like normal. The taste was not okay. I rate it a 1/5. The chicken in the butter chicken was the WORST. Wasn't like a regular chicken breast or chicken boneless thigh. Full chicken bones from a chicken thigh. I was spitting out pieces of bone and the rubber tendon. Disgusting. We had the Lunch Buffet. Everything was hot and fresh, tasty and inexpensive. The staff kept our table clean and offered extra condiments (a couple of different hot sauces...yum!) Started with the Deshi salad which was nothing special and looked like a typical almost American side salad with a lemon vinaigrette dressing and maybe a small pinch of Indian spice. Just okay and at $7 a bit small. It got better from here. Ordered Palak Paneer and Garlic Naan and both were delish! The Naan was the superstar of the meal. Really really good. I was really excited to find an Indian place in Canton. I've been on an Indian Kick lately and was really hoping to satisfy the craving. Fortunately, Raj Mahal did just enough to scratch that itch. The chutneys that they serve at the beginning are very tasty. The cheese naan was really good but a little too salty. The chicken samosas were really tasty, especially with the chutney. I ordered a Dal Makhani and had them add lamb. Overall, the flavor was good. I did ask for extra spicy and it wasn't very spicy. At the end, I asked for a hot tea thinking I will get the traditional spiced tea, but it was very cold and bland . I didn't even drink more than one sip. I'll come back sometime to try the lunch buffet but for $40 the dinner was OK at best . The new Indian restaurant is a welcomed addition to the Canton food scene. I wanted to check out the buffet. It was solid in many areas including being reasonably priced . The vegetables all had a great flavor. Mildly spicy across the board. My favorite items from the buffet were the cabbage, the lentil soup, the paneer, and the naan. The green mint sauce and raita were also quite good. The chicken dishes , while normally a huge success were all just ok. Nothing wrong with the cook on it but just a little bland. This was the best Indian food I ever had. We had the lunch buffet and plenty of choices. Food was nicely displayed, full of smooth flavor but not overwhelmingly spicy. There was only one vegetable dish that I didn't care for, but other than that, everything tasted crumpshious! The atmosphere was pleasant and simple. It was wonderful to drink water from a nice glass and have real cloth napkins at the table. Made the lunch seem more classy The owner checked on the quests and talked to us. We were not sure if this restaurant offered anything else to drink than water since that was brought to our table without us ordering drinks. This was truly a great experience! The entire place. The floors and paint are worn out and smell. The doors are old and paint is all worn off. Entering the restaurant itself was pretty off putting. Then the rudeness of staff was unreal. I had placed an order for pick up thru a 3rd party site. When I showed up to get it they denied my order. Said that they were not Raj Mahal. Even though the address was correct and the giant sign on the building said Raj Mahal. I had already paid for my order over $40. And they refused. I said I needed a refund and he just said "too bad." So I wanted to try this place a few times before I gave a review like I normally do to see if they are consistent. The food here is AMAZING!!! They have a great lunch buffet and the food is on point. They have the best Butter Chicken I've probably ever eaten. The service is always great and the restaurant is clean and presentable all the time. The best thing is the food though. I tried the Butter Chicken medium the first time and it was good but the hot is spectacular. Their garlic naan is amazing and to die for. I would recommend anyone in the Canton area to eat here. It has changed hands and is now "Avatar". Went there for lunch. No longer has a lunch buffet. Ordered chicken 65, chicken tikka masala, chicken korma and cheese naan. The 65 came with grilled onions, which made it tasty and different. The spice levels for the tikka and the korma were perfect and the chicken was moist and tender. Huge portions, delicious foods, friendly staff -- this is the first Indian restaurant in Canton and it has been worth the wait. The lunch buffet is a great value and well-stocked, and to-go/carryout orders are well packed and accurate. I have enjoyed the samosas, the biryani, the tikka masala, and most of their vegetarian dishes. The lentils are a little too soupy for my preference, but the flavors are still very good. The restaurant itself is not anything worth remarking about: it's in a boring strip mall, with sparse decoration inside, and diner-style booths lining the walls. Not a fine dining experience, but that's not what we came here for. It's very clean and well-lit, so that makes up for the spartan aesthetic. I guess this place is fairly new, I liked it. The buffet was $15.99 and is Tuesday through Sunday, until 3pm each day. The couple working was very nice and were quick to take away used plates and keep my water glass filled. They have things separated which I liked. A very small salad section, an appetizer section, a soup section, entrees and a dessert section. The food might have been toned down a bit to appeal to the general population of the area but I still enjoyed it. I hit lots of Indian buffets and realized today that I usually don't see samosas, so this was nice to have. Items that I really liked was the vegetable soup, the pumpkin (was it curry?), the squash, the eggplant dish, the palak paneer and the paneer tika masala. I'll definitely go back and hope to get there on a weekend so that my wife can join me. Staff were very welcoming and food was amazing. The appetizers, in particular, were very fresh and tasty. The portion sizes were very generous and everything was fresh and hot. My only slight criticism would be that the meat, both the chicken and the lamb was quite tough and chewy... next time I will likely stick to the tikka entrees as meat would be more tenderized. This is a hidden gem that we just tried for the first time and will be going back. I got the Chicken Tikka Masala and my partner got the Salmon Curry and we shared some Garlic Naan. The food was super fresh and filling. I don't have a high tolerance for spice so I got a level 1 on the Chicken Tikka Masala and feel I may be able to do a 2 next time, but it was absolutely fantastic. My partner got a level 4 on the Salmon Curry and it was kicking, he absolutely loved and destroyed his plate.
