From being greeted & seated to check out, Shawnee, our waitress was amazing. Even though we were not her only customers, she treated us like we were. She was cheerful & engaging, gave us all the information we needed to make a decision on what to order, and was quick to respond with extra items from the menu we decided to add on later. Located in Haleiwa is this hidden gem that I forgot about! The food is so good and they have some dishes that other Thai places don't have so come check it out! We went 2 days in a row when we stayed here for the Haleiwa Metric Century ride this past weekend. My favorites were really everything we tried. We ordered almost the same things on both days, it was that good, but the Country Pad Thai and batter fish with curry sauce stand out! We arrived right at 4 pm when the restaurant reopens for dinner service. We were promptly greeted by one of the staff and another followed to serve us water and take our orders. Service was quick and efficient. We ordered chicken satay, green curry and yellow curry noodles. For dessert we had fried bananas with ice cream. Just tried Rajanee for the first time and loved it! It's conveniently located near Matsumoto's Shaved Ice with parking in the back. We visited on a Saturday afternoon around noon and got a table right away. The open-air breeze and nice decor made for a great ambiance. We ordered appetizers and several family-style dishes, all of which were delicious. The drunken noodles were a standout! They offer plenty of vegetarian and vegan options too. The fried banana dessert was yummy, and I had Thai tea with coconut milk for the first time The service was amazing and friendly, and the birthday extras were much appreciated. Hubby and I were walking around and decided we would give this place a try before heading back home. The reviews were mixed but decided we'd give it a go. We were the only customer's there and had the pick of the place for seating. The place was clean and it was dead quiet with the exception of passing traffic and folks walking by. We ordered Spring Rolls and being vegan, I ordered Yellow Curry Noodles, hubby ordered Ruby Chicken and Chicken Pad Thai. The spring rolls were good. I didn't use the peanut sauce but hubby said it was over powering and didn't eat it either. He enjoyed both his dishes, I on the other, hand regretted mine. It straight up tasted like it came from a box that had expired. I don't know what the seasoning were, or why my noodles were incredibly over cooked? It didn't taste like there was a drop of coconut milk in it. It was as if yellow curry paste was dumped on the noodles. We tried the Panang chicken and it was bursting with yummy flavor but so liquidy like soup lol... they even brought us like miso soup bowls and broth spoons to eat it hmmm... Those summer rolls with the peanut sauce are a must. The Panang curry bowl just heavenly! Whenever we are back home in Texas...we're always craving the freshness of Rajanee's. I am leaving this review due to a shady business practice. Tonight I ordered takeout, and was charged a mandatory 18% tip which brought a 3-dish order to over 61$. The receipt lists the cashier as Sam. I did not dine in. I did not interact with any waiters or staff. For an establishment to demand near 20% surcharge for taking my payment and handing me a bag... it's not reasonable. To inflate the price nearly 20% without first telling me is deceptive business practice. The food is good, but if the business feels the chefs should be compensated better, then they should pay them better, not swindle mandatory fees out of patrons after they ordered. Warm friendly service and delicious food! We were on our way to find a food truck to eat at but my sister was wiped out after a full day at Waimea Falls and just wanted to sit! We walked by this place and the aroma was intoxicating so in we went! For starters we ordered the Pineapple Fried rice with shrimp and the Summer Rolls. Both were FANTASTIC. The restaurant asks what level of spice you want in your dishes (between 1 and 5 with 1 being mild and 5 being the most spicy). I went with a "2" which was perfect for us. We felt the heat but it just added to the flavor, it wasn't too hot at all and never overpowered our dishes. The Summer Rolls were fresh and light with a delectable peanut sauce. A dish like this really shows the quality of ingredients and the creativity and care of the dish -- the peanut sauce isn't your typical peanut sauce... it goes a step beyond. I wish I could tell you why, the flavor was just SO GOOD. The Pineapple Fried Rice was perfect flavor and texture and the egg in it was perfectly cooked and really tasty. For my main I chose Basil Chili Shrimp -- again, perfectly cooked. The vegetables were expertly cooked - just the right al dente and the sauce was full of flavor. My sister had the Pad Thai (with Shrimp) and loved every bite of it. Then the dessert -- Mango Sticky Rice cooked by the owner's mother-in-law. I wanted to steal her and take her home with me to be MY mother-in-law. Best mango we've ever tasted. :) And let me just say we had the loveliest server -- a wonderful gal from West Virginia who transplanted to Hawaii. Clearly Island living has treated her well because she was an actual ray of sunshine herself. Beautiful smile, warm, caring demeanor. We felt more like we were having dinner over at her house rather than just eating out at a restaurant. She also gave us a great recommendation on catching the evening sunset. We came here in around November 2020, and understood the takeout requiremend due to covid restrictions. The food was also flavorful and spicy (according to our request). It was the best Thai food we had eaten in a while. Fast forward to July 2021, we tried to dine in (group of 4) and even though all the tables were set up with silverware + napkins, they said dine in was for dinner only. So we had to sit outside behind the restaurant at a poop-covered table (there were 3 tables, all of them disgusting). On top of that, they charged 18% gratuity for the takeout. While I understand the 18% gratuity charge for large parties dining in, since I know it requires more effort to take care of large parties. However, it doesn't make sense that we had to eat TAKEOUT at a poop-covered table and charged gratuity. The sad thing is that if they had actually allowed dine in, we probably would've tipped 20% or more. I'm disappointed in this visit and am not sure I will come back again. read more

We came here for dinner and were sad to see they only do takeout. They closed the sit down portion of the restaurant last week they said, but it's understandable since Covid numbers are climbing again. We waited in line for about 10 minutes to order. They told us it would be a 30 minute wait for our food, but it took 45-50. I was really hoping the wait would be worth it. We ordered shrimp pad Thai, pineapple fried rice, yellow curry noodles with shrimp, garlic shrimp, and shrimp drunken noodles, along with an order of spring rolls. We asked for 4 of the dishes to be level 3 spicy. Then at the last minute we asked for one of them to be changed to level 2. Unfortunately they switched them all to level 2. The pineapple fried rice was really different but in a great way. We loved all of the veggies and the sweetness of the pineapple. The yellow curry was really good too. The garlic shrimp tasted really good, but a few of them were tough and a little over cooked. The spring rolls were good, but nothing to write home about. The drunken noodles were probably our favorites. The flavors worked great together and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The shrimp pad Thai was one of our favorites as well. Would highly recommended avoiding ordering online from this restaurant. Wasn't having the best day so I thought I'd order Thai food for a pick me up. When I pressed order it like sent me back to the menu screen but I saw my card was charge... so I call them and the manager tells me she doesn't see it but she'll call the company they use for online orders. Doesn't call me back so I call 30 minutes later and she's like they told me they're looking into it but she cannot give me any food or a refund. I was like "so you're saying I'm sh*t out of luck because that was the money I had for dinner tonight" and she then changes the tone of the conversation telling me I'm not going to put words in her mouth and she's doing what she can. I have $60 deducted from my account, with the business' name on it and they will not give me food or a refund. She said she'd call me back with a solution but after any hour I gave up on that and filed a dispute with my bank. Disclaimer: Felt sorta tricked into a forced gratuity %. The menu states gratuity is automatically charged for takeout and dine-in groups of 5 or more but people can opt out if desired. We had a group of 4 so we inquired regarding the automatic gratuity when we saw it was already added to our check; the waitress Maddy blatantly made up that it's their practice that any bills over $100 they automatically charge the 18% gratuity even though the menu said nothing about that and proceeded to charge our card. She never offered us the option to tip as we like. When we showed her the menu only mentioned the tip for groups of 5+ and nowhere does it mention anything regarding an over $100 service fee and asked to speak to the manager, she made us wait awhile then said no one was available. She claimed she's sorry but it's standard everywhere to tip 18% automatically for gratuity when the bill is over $100. While we usually tip 18-20%+ no matter the total amount of the check, tip should be determined by the customer based on the quality of service; we didn't like being fooled and forced into it. It's the principle of it that made it upsetting, not the tip amount. Now on to the mediocre dining experience: I was hesitant given the mixed reviews on Yelp, and unfortunately, the restaurant proved to be more of a tourist trap. I tried doing my due diligence by reading other reviews on dishes to get, but the meal was still a downer. The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived around Sunday 1pm for lunch. Items ordered: Thai iced tea was so-so, and they charge $3 for a reusable straw. Papaya salad is my favorite out of the array of dishes ordered, but if you don't eat the papaya quickly, it will get too salty and sour soaked in the dressing. Chicken satay has a nice presentation, but the meat was tough with a hint of sourness so hopefully that's just the marinade. Bangkok night noodles were overly salty so our waitress said they will make a new one even though I asked perhaps we can switch to the drunken noodles instead. It seems like they just rinsed the noodles in water then reheated it up as the noodles came back overcooked with black charred pieces in it like from a dirty pan. We left this dish basically untouched besides the fried shrimps on top. Thai garlic ribs have some decent sweet and salty flavor but were over-fried so only get this dish if you want more of a beef jerky tough texture. Panang curry with coconut rice is flavorful on the sweeter side. I think I would stick with curry and rice if you dine here for the safest bet. Tom Yum soup oddly arrived last and was subpar. Overall, probably the most disappointing meal we've had in Oahu. We will stick with Ray's Kiawe chicken and Hono's garlic shrimps when in touristy Haleiwa in the future or try one of the many other dining establishments in the vicinity. read more

I didn't get a chance to take a photo of the satay chicken, because we ate it so fast. The peanut sauce had a strong flavor and was delicious. Of the three dishes we had, the basil chicken was the best. The basil is infused throughout the dish and had a nice selection of veggies added. The cashew chicken also had a savory sauce. The Thai beef was a bit saucy for my liking, but I think that might be a regional preference. I tend to start my food at a heat level of 2 and asked for more chile to kick it up a bit.
