When visiting Rakuzen, this was the first time I had experienced an AYCE sushi place. The location was clean, the waitress was attentive, and the food was certainly quick. We had made it in time for the lunch special of $15 per person. The menu options were great and pretty vast. I cannot believe it took me so long to try this place out. There was no wait when I arrived and the service was super speedy and attentive. The rolls were a great size especially for a AYCRE place. They have some great week long specials with the lunch special price being $14.99. I think is more than before for people who have come before but this is the cheapest I have ever had. The drinks are not watered down which is nice and the menu options guarantee that you will leave full and satiated, there is something for everyone. This place also has an A rating! We usually went to Rakuzen once every couple of months and sad to say this time was the worst even after they've raised prices for the Dinner Buffet. Now we've been before, we know that this isn't Iron Chef quality or anything of the sort but this time it was just bad. Got the spider roll (Cold and mushy) and several other Specialty Rolls in order to try the menu or new items. One of the tempura rolls we had was 1/2 rice while some of the other special rolls were either inconsistent with fillings or just filled up with avocado and cucumber to make up space. Not to mention not a single bite actually tasted fresh. Now we ate what we liked and didn't eat what we didn't like and most of the staff just took our plates when we were done. Not cordial service necessarily but no one was rude and "just take the plate and go" is fine with me. This leads to one lady at the end. Upon examining our plates with half eaten rolls (we tried to eat the actual food inside but the amount of rice was crazy) one of the Waitresses tried to demand that we pay for the food that we didn't finish and that we could not order more. I tried to explain it wasn't good and that I would have sent it back if I had known ultimately bringing the bill forward and bringing our meal to halt. At first the food not being great is one thing but if you come down on a customer for not enjoying their meal then that is not good service. For the record we've been to Rakuzen at least 10 times and every time it gets a little worse. t.l.d.r. Overpriced for the airport quality sushi. Just to have them boss you into buying the food you don't eat cause it tasted bad or wasn't made well. read more

The hot foods selection was not good. the Indonesian fried rice was too greasy, and the rice for that was kinda the same as the sushi rice, the pad thai was not pad thai ish, the tonkatsu ramen was really like the other half of the pork chop that was the pork chop and the chicken skewers were just the same chicken they put in the pad thai... It was basically the same food rearranged and listed differently, the flavors were not distinctive... Each item of hot food did not really stand out to be great. The miso soup and the seaweed salad was good tho, but they didnt really make that. The sushi pieces were small, but the hard fish was thin on top of that small amount of rice which proportionally makes it too much rice for the amount of fish. I went there for the dinner, and I will not go back for the dinner because it was not a good enough experience food wise. However I may try their lunch and see maybe the daytime chefs would be better? Maybe their sushi would be less HARD? DO NOT COME HERE!! Worst experience I've ever had!! Took it 45 to get the orde, and when it came the food was cold. The fried food tasted like shit! The was oil was nasty and it tasted bitter! We called the manager to complain about it she started arguing that the food is good and we're just making it up. After she told us to order but we still had to pay for whatever is wasted. We address again and waited 40+ mins and the food still wasn't done and we left without even eating and we paid for everything!! I even went home and threw up!!!! They have a really great selection for diner time AYCE sushi and I was very excited to be able to partake outdoors! I will say, the seats were not a true 6 feet apart, but they definitely tried their best, put sanitizer on the tables, and all the employees were wearing masks. I felt pretty safe eating here all things considered. The fish in the sashimi and sushi was fresh and cut thick and many of the appetizers were delicious as well. I especially enjoyed the salmon lovers roll, the different varieties of fish egg sushi, rock shrimp, tako yaki, yaki tori, salmon dumplings and miso eggplant. The salads unfortunately did not taste very fresh but the other food was all delicious so I didn't mind too much. A lot of the previous reviews here ring true. The food isn't all that great or fresh. I usually order tempura rolls and they come out cold and not crispy at all. Same with other appetizers coming out cold. I've came here when it's been dead and I've came when it's been packed. Food tasted fresher was it was packed, but it's honestly not worth the gamble to come here. It charges the same price for other AYCE sushi places, but doesn't include dessert like the other places do. So I went with the mix and match special $24.99 which is 3 kitchen items, 3 sushi bar items, 1 special roll, 1 appetizer, and a soda... just for myself... don't judge me. Crab Rangoon: Came with 4. Not bad. Beef kalbi: not too bad the meat was tender and a little sweet. Some pieces had more fat than meat. Fried rock shrimp: I was scared these would come too spicy, but they weren't I would recommend this over just getting 2 pieces of shrimp tempura. Philadelphia roll: Standard philly roll can't really go wrong shrimp tempura roll: Standard they do add big chucks of avocado to this roll. unagi sashimi: thick piece which was nice but had to be careful with the bones Ayame Roll: this is a fried roll and it was big! For some reason there was cream cheese added to this roll? It wasn't stated in the ingredients. Pepper tuna tataki: really good at this point I saved this for the next day. It was a lot of food for the price. This place is all you can eat normally so the quality isn't all the great but not bad at all. I wouldn't mind coming back for sushi on a budget. The sushi is so so good here! We go pretty often and rakuzen is a staple spot for my family. The all you can eat is pretty affordable but they are raising the prices pretty frequently. It's currently at $30 a person but for the quality of sushi and the selection I think it's pretty reasonable. The only thing is the appetizers, at least the fried ones, were super super oily. Like you could wipe the access oil off with three to four napkins. Naturally that's not a big issue as you would go here with the intent to eat sushi and the fish quality is really good. Last time I went here, the service was pretty bad, and they kicked us after a short period of time. I don't think the service is very good, and they also increased the price of the food recently. Sushi pieces were small and appetizers were better than the sushi. DO NOT order the kimchi here (I know, my bad). It most likely had gone bad because it had a weird alcoholic taste followed with a burning/numbing sensation afterwards. My tongue was numb and I am not allergic to Kimchi. My new favorite all you can eat sushi spot. All the appetizers are good, but do not skip out on the beef appetizers (kalbi in particular). Aside from the apps, the sushi is pretty standard, but good. Their AYCE menu boasts a wide variety of traditional rolls as well as their own special rolls ( don't overdue It on the ordering though, or you will be forced to pay for whatever you were unable to finish .... pro tip: hot green tea aids digestion). The staff are ask very pleasant , as is the scenery inside this eatery. Service was prompt, and we did not feel like we were being rushed out, as many all you can eat restaurants tend to do. The sushi were tiny, and I can hardly taste the fish. I ordered white tuna, salmon, mackerel sushi, but all the fish practically tasted similar to me cuz the pieces were so small. I usually love sushi, but after trying a couple of pieces of those, I really didn't feel inclined to order more so I stuck with the rolls and appetizers. Appetizers were just alright. Nothing stood out to me. Had the spicy tuna dumplings, edamame, salad, negimaki, pad thai, udon, shrimp tempura, and more. Handrolls and sushi rolls were pretty decent. I came here last night and docked off 2 stars because the customer service was not very good. It was very busy so I understand that they were overwhelmed with takeout orders and dine-in orders but it was a bit sad that we had to keep flagging someone down every time we wanted to order more sushi and other items. I've never been to such an inattentive AYCE sushi establishment. I did enjoy the food but the customer service part is seriously lacking. They should hire more servers because they had a high volume of takeout orders and a very busy restaurant full of people. Came here for ayce with my family. This is a true sole ayce restaurant, not the usual Brooklyn sushi restaurants that have all you can eat as an option. I was impressed with the selection they offered, as they were a new business. The staff was truly attentive and made us feel at home. With that said, the quality of the food was 'Meh' at best and left lots to imagination. It wasn't particularly good, but I have nothing exciting to say about it either. This is my FIRST AYCE experience and I was not disappointed, but I think I went in on a wrong day where clearly the weather was bad and I was still ordering cold dishes, which gave me stomach a bad reaction, and which wanted to make me throw up. Very slow service with very stale food. They have two chef serving 10+ tables. Each roll is optimized with rice with a sliver of fish that isn't even fresh. Seaweed is stale and chewy, sashimi is tiny, and everything else has been bland. This is my second time coming here and the service/food quality has not improved one bit. This was an alright-okay place for sushi buffet. Came here with a group of 5 other friends on a Sunday night and conveniently still had seats opened. This place was actually really similar to Daizen - the menu & everything, including their special rolls. The food is decent for a sushi buffet. The service is pretty fast and our food just keeps on coming. However, I didn't really like the other fish selections in the sashimi platter, nor did my friends so next time I'd have to keep in mind to notify them that I only want salmon. Eating the tuna and white fish and forcing it down my throat was unpleasant. Was in the mood for sushi so tried this new all you can eat sushi spot that opened up in my neighborhood! For $22 you literally get ALL you can eat for roughly 2 hours. It's a new place so it wasn't super crowded at around 7 pm and my friend already had a table reserved but as the night went along, more people were definitely coming in. Servers first language are definitely Chinese but they are friendly and quick. The rock shrimp appetizer was probably my favorite along with the sexy spicy tuna special roll (yes I just wrote sexy spicy tuna). All the other rolls we ordered were also pretty good. Food comes out super quick so just be ready to eat as soon as you put your order in! Wish dessert was included in the all you can eat deal instead of the free soda option.
