Raleigh Rolls is a solid place to get some ice cream. The experience is cool as you get to customize your order and watch the staff make it right in front of you. They have around 15-20 options for toppings and mix-ins so there are so many possibilities of how you can make your ice cream. The establishment is also located in a food hall with other restaurants and food joints, so that was a plus as well. However, the wait can be very long due to the process, and I don't find it worthwhile to spend time in the lines. It was also very expensive for ice cream; I paid a little over $30 for three cups. It was good ice cream and a nice experience, but I would not get it again given the possible wait times and high price. read more

Delicious? Yes!!! If you go there you'll definitely need to wait in line if it's during the evening. Waited maybe 15-20 minutes before we could order. I ordered the Monkey N' Around with Oreos mixed in. I enjoyed the ice cream; however, there was not much of a banana flavor to it. It tasted pretty much just like a cookies n cream ice cream. This ice cream spot was the last on the list for my Mother's Day celebration. After a fun-filled and active day, what better way to close the day out than with some fresh and flavorful ice cream rolls? This ice cream shop is located in the Morgan Street Food Hall among a variety of restaurants and shops. It was very crowded in the Morgan Street Food Hall. We waited in line for a good amount of time before we got to order. There are a few selections of signature ice cream rolls, and you also have the option of making a custom ice cream roll with your favorite ingredients. A list of available ingredients and toppings is displayed. They prepare everything right in front of you, so you get to see the process. That was pretty cool. It was great watching them make the ice cream rolls. We ordered Grandma's Nanner Puddin and a berry custom made ice cream roll. They were creamy, smooth, and tasted great! read more

Stopped by with a friend on a Friday evening and while it wasn't busy, the service was a bit slow. There were several employees behind the counter who weren't really working just talking among themselves (even tho a line was forming) while one girl was working hard. But she got my custom order right and it was delicious! I ordered biscoff cookies and chocolates mixed in and caramel syrup and biscoff cookies as my toppings. My sweet treat was delicious and I'll be back for sure the next time I'm in Raleigh. Located inside a local food hall. No designated parking, only street parking available (which there was plenty of). read more

I've tried these fresh rolled ice-cream at other places, my first time trying it in Raleigh! You can choose your own mixins and toppings from the list. I was feeling lazy to put in the effort so chose the MonkeyN around which consisted of banana slices & Nutella (Mix in) and whipped cream, Nutella drizzle, chopped hazelnuts and chocolate hazelnut pirouette. We had to tell the lady making it our choice and she was started working on it. She seemed pretty disinterested in us and our order, and more into the family who was in line after us that while she was making ours a big chunk of the icecream fell off reducing one of my rolls into less than half haha.. I was watching intently. I must say it's a lot of effort to mix and make those rolls, so I definitely appreciate the work she put in. read more

I really do like Raleigh Rolls Ice cream. I have had them several times. This was the first time stopping by this location, the other times were from their food truck. They do have some restaurant creations, or you can create your own. You get three mix ins, and three toppings for each one. They make them right in front of you, and as it it labor intensive, the line can get long. I will say that I made the mistake of getting my daughter her own, because at $7.95 a cup, she wasted over half of it. I just chocked it up to a fun day out, and let it go. But i know for next time. I got the banana pudding inspired rolls and although it looked really cute and the worker took her time and really personalized my order...the ice cream just didn't do it for me. It was flavorless but that's probably because of the liquid (maybe heavy cream or melted ice cream) that is used. Nonetheless, it's worth a try if you don't like things that are too sweet! read more

I love rolled ice cream! I've been to Raleigh Rolls a couple of times and they never disappoint! The ice cream is creamy and delicious and I love the toppings. The line is always long every time I go there and it moves a little slow because of the whole process of rolling the ice cream and adding the toppings. It's a fun concept and you get to watch them making it. During my last visit I tried the Strawberry Tempura (a collaboration between Raleigh Rolls and a Japanese restaurant called Kanki) and it was amazing! You can also choose one of the signature flavors from the "our flavors" section or make your own flavor (3 ingredients for a mix in + 3 toppings). Raleigh Rolls is a must visit when at Morgan St Food Hall. The rolls are irresistible and really tasty. This was my first time trying rolled ice cream and I enjoyed it. There is a set menu when you arrive and an option for Dairy-Free which is coconut milk based. I decided on the Grandma's Nanner Puddin and added walnuts to the inside. It comes with Bananas, vanilla ice cream, 3 Nilla wafers and whipped cream. My daughter enjoyed the S'mores with a marshmallow, a real mini Hershey bar and graham crackers. Kids always want ice cream and was recommended to come out and check it out. Prices - A bit high but it's worth the experience to have the kids watch how the ice cream rolls are made. Ice cream - The process and quality of the ingredients look to be fresh, and tasteful. The presentation is awesome and the available options are great also. The ice cream flavors at Raleigh Rolls are delicious, the selection of offerings is expansive and accommodating, and their signature hand-rolled technique is impressive and beautiful. They have Gluten Free and Dairy-Free options. I have a dairy allergy, and am always excited to see dairy-free ice cream options. I thought the ice cream was a lot and too sweet but it might've just been because of the toppings/mix-ins I got. Updating my review for 2021 because I wanted everyone to know how good their DAIRY FREE option is! It is made with soy and coconut milk and doesn't have any kind of weird taste. I did not the WTH reaction to it at all. The owner and his family are dairy free and you can tell he took his time tweaking the recipe to give it a great taste. I customized mine to have fresh strawberries and bananas mixed it and it was delicious! My kid got her fave S'mores and my hubby tried the flavor of the month which is cheesecake. He got Oreo cookies mixed in and it looked so yummy! Ice cream in February on a cold day was doable because Morgan Street Food Hall has heaters outside! read more

The ice cream here is delicious and it's cool to watch their staff create the rolls from scratch. I can't quite remember when I ordered, but I do know it has Biscoff cookies and coffee mixed in so I was sold! I will say, if you come here at a busy time you have to be prepared to wait because it takes a long time to make the rolls. read more

Great spot at Morgan Street food hall for rolled ice cream. The waffle taco is pretty awesome! Never seen anything like it. I have had rolled ice cream a few times, and this is first time I really enjoyed it and didn't just taste like frozen milk. Raleigh rolls is located inside of morgan street food hall. The hall is located downtown so parking may be an issue depending on the time and day that you go. The line is always long but it moved pretty quick. You can get your rolls in a cup or a taco. The menu rolls are $7 and the special rolls are $8. I decided to try the s'mores rolls. Graham crackers are crushed and put into the ice cream rolls as they are being made. The rolls are topped with chocolate sauce and a piece of a Hersey's bar, whipped cream, a graham cracker, and a roasted marshmallow that is torched when it is ordered. Overall it was good but I felt like the rolls needed more flavor. The staff was really friendly and funny. I may come back and try another flavor. read more

Well here's mine: Parking: 5 Location: 5 Decor/ambiance: 5 Customer Service: 5++ We all know that ice cream is the perfect ending to a fun weekend or the perfect beginning to a new work week... - either way you see it, Raleigh Rolls has some sweet treats you might want to check out! These guys have been rocking and rolling now for about two years and are located inside of the @morganstreetfoodhall. They have over 500 different flavor combinations that you can customize on your own. The rolled ice cream is important from Thailand (yep real Thai rolled ice cream). These guys recently purchased a new ice cream truck that's mobile and they are ready to serve all of your social distant outdoor gatherings. Here's a cool secret that we found out, the Pumpkin Pie ice cream flavor will be debuting sometime in October so get ready pumpkin fans. But don't let October get here and you not try the ice cream before hand. These guys are open now, all wearing masks and ready to see you come through those shiny doors. Ok... so here is the part that might make you want to lick your phone - Pictured here is the Mixed Berry rolled ice cream in a cup. I'm a huge fan of rolled ice creams and Raleigh Rolls is a nice place. The ice creams are very well designed and decorated for the flavors. The ice cream itself was not the best or most creamy ice cream I've ever had. There was something missing but I'd give it another shot. The s'mores ice cream was good but the chocolate sauce they put on it was very overpowering. In the fruity ice cream the strawberry seeds got all over my mouth. Both were good but definitely would want to try something new next time. read more

I'm a sucker for these tasty tasty rolls! I have a hard time leaving Morgan Street Food Hall without a Raleigh Rolls cup in hand. The line can sometimes be crazy and can take forever, but I always still get in that line. The employees work their butts off making those rolls, it is not an easy task-- constant mixing, scraping, and rolling. It looks like a workout! I've tried a few flavors but my favorite is definitely chunky monkey. The banana and Nutella flavors really come through and in my mind it's just a combo that cannot be beat. They also sell bottles of water for a $1 which is a nice touch. read more

This place is a great spot to take the kids as long as you have enough time to wait. The concept requires about 5 minutes for each serving and often there is only one employee for a line of 5+. The employee has to work with the product the entire time so they can only do one at a time. The idea attracts families and children so often a mom will come in with 3 or 4 kids and you'll have a 20+ minute wait before you can even order. That said, the owner is really nice and the place is really clean. I think they try hard to accommodate all types of allergies so it is a great option for those types. They have some well thought out combination dishes of ice cream, sweets like chocolate and caramel, and toppings such as marshmallows, strawberries, etc. read more

Then George took the cup of this delicious ice cream and torched it for a brulee finish. Amazing, indescribable, and I will be back for more soon kind of flavors! I have since checked out her flavor options and kick myself for not visiting her shop soon over at Iron Works. It is so close to where we live in downtown Raleigh. No more excuses. My toppings included pineapple and strawberry popping boba, kiwi, fresh mango and coconut shavings. Very tropical and Caribbean. Their watermelon flavor was not replenished so I couldn't indulge in that. This was so refreshing for a sweet treat on a 98 degree day. The shop is located next to Red Bowl and Golden Krust.

With a mix of classics and more unique flavor options, I have never once tried an option I did not truly enjoy, if anything they have often been amongst the best of that flavor I have even ever had. The ice cream is just so good, the texture, creaminess, and flavor profiles all incredibly well balanced. The shop itself is clean, well decorated, and inviting with a semblance to what you'd expect and desire from a classic ice cream shop. They even pay attention to the details, like using these fun metal spoons for tasting (highly suggested) instead of the typical flimsy plastic or wooden ones common in other shops, which are available for purchase. The staff was friendly, service was efficient. There is also some cool merch which is fun if you're into that stuff. Personally, I am not the biggest fan of their naming scheme for the options, instead of just having a single, double, or more straightforward menu options, they have names like "standard" which is actually 2 "half scoops" (quotes cause they're just small scoops), and then a single which is a single full scoop, or a trio which is 3 half scoops not full scoops, just overall a tad confusing and not straightforward in how much ice cream you are actually getting, though it does allow one to get multiple flavors more easily I guess? The prices are definitely leaning on the higher side, especially for pints, but I feel that is to be expected of "gourmet" ice cream shops, especially nowadays. Overall, I highly recommend for any and all ice cream lvoers, and will absolutely be returning myself.

Panysaurus over all is a very cool place (either location) but they have drastically different vibes - which in my book is a good thing. The Raleigh location has a smaller footprint and doesn't have the same outdoor patio vibe. The dinning area is a bit small but turn around is quick and there is plenty of space to stand and socialize if you're just there for the beer. I really love Ponysaurus beer, their pilsner is nice but their kolsch is my favorite. The Raleigh location menu has lots to choose from, we had a margarita pizza with pepperoni, hummus and wings. I can't recall what was in the hummus but we practically licked the bowl and the wings were a big hit too - note the Durham menu is a bit scaled down but one thing that's consistent with both locations is the amount of pita that came with the hummus. There is nothing worse than getting a huge bowl of hummus and only a few pieces of hummus or chips. Both locations knocked it out of the park - plenty of WARM pita for everyone. Service was great, we did't wait long and the tables were turned over quickly. They use a mobile app for ordering food which makes ordering fast and efficient and the food is delivered to your table - which I must note came out very fast.

Wow, this might be one of the best restaurants in Raleigh! I stopped in for a business dinner and…read morewas really excited to finally try one of Ashley Christensen's restaurants. Parking can be a bit challenging as you'll either need to find street parking or in a open lot near by. The restaurant itself is located in a historic building that once was a funeral home and also was also a tax practice in a different chapter. The restaurant feels very upscale but there isn't a strict dress code. The kitchen is open as well if yo prefer to sit along the kitchen and watch the chefs cook. When you order you'll have to place everything at the same time but they'll pace it out to your table. For drinks, I ordered the In Gold Blood (Bourbon, amaro, Fino sherry, banana, golden raisin) and the head in the clouds (Vodka, Falernum, strawberry, pistachio). Both drinks were excellent and extremely easy to drink. You'll definitely want to start with the sourdough bread, NC Oysters (Roasted NC oysters, chili butter, preserved lemon gremolata), and fried NC shrimp (Fried NC shrimp, buried garlic aioli, pickled green tomatoes). All of the appetizers were excellent in their own way. The bread and butter just complemented each other so well, the oysters were well balanced and almost seared where they weren't chargrilled but partially still raw, and the fried nc shrimp has a nice contrast of flavor with the pickled green tomatoes and fried shrimp. For the entree we split the Prime-aged Delmonico (ribeye; and was served in a red wine jus, and topped with sea salt and peppercorn). The steak fell apart as you bit into it. For sides, we ordered the crispy potatoes (Crispy potatoes, Italian chili crisp, piquillo peppers) and Brussel sprouts (Embered Brussels sprouts, apples, lardon vinaigrette, almonds). The steak and potatoes were definitely my favorite. The Brussel sprouts were good but a bit on the salad side where they were still a little hard. For dessert, we ordered the cheesecake (Basque cheesecake, strawberry compote, olive oil shortbread) and the Sticky Toffee Pudding (Sticky toffee pudding, embered vanilla ice cream, benne seed brittle). The sticky toffee pudding was so warm and was excellent. The cheesecake also had a nice balance of flavor and the strawberry compote combination worked perfectly. This is by far one of my favorite meals I've had in Raleigh and you definitely need to go here if you are in the area.

While the food left me somewhat underwhelmed, the cocktails were exceptional, among the best I've had in recent memory. The standout was the Over/Under, a beet-infused gin take on a Negroni. Absolutely phenomenal. The earthy beet notes were subtle but present, complementing the bitterness of the Campari, the floral qualities of the gin, and just enough sweetness to tie everything together. Every cocktail I tried was excellent, but this was the clear winner. As for the food, it never quite reached the same heights. The beef tartare was the best dish I had all evening. In fact, I found myself enjoying it more on the accompanying sourdough bread than on the rice crisps it was served with, which ultimately justified ordering the bread. The "pickled egg yolk" was an inventive twist, essentially replacing both the raw egg and cornichons found in a traditional French tartare. Clever in concept, but the pickling process seemed to sacrifice some of the creamy richness that the dish could have benefited from. The rice crisp accompaniment is also part of a trend I've noticed at several restaurants and one I'm not particularly sold on. They're usually too brittle to hold much tartare and often end up scattered across the plate. I find they work better crushed into the tartare itself than as a delivery vehicle. The oysters were the biggest disappointment of the meal. Heavily drenched in butter, they felt one-dimensional, with the lemon zest providing the only real counterbalance. To be fair, this is likely intended as a shared dish, and as a solo diner consuming the entire portion myself, the richness may have become more pronounced than intended. The gnocchi delivered deep, satisfying flavor and were impressively light, though perhaps a touch too soft for my personal preference. As I glanced over at the roast chicken being served to the couple next to me, a sense of ordering regret began to creep in. What ultimately elevates Death & Taxes is its hospitality. The service was genuinely five-star. Every dish was explained thoughtfully as it was delivered, and the bar team struck that perfect balance of attentiveness and conversation, making a solo diner feel completely welcome. Their warmth and professionalism raised this experience from a three-star meal to a four-star evening. And they are all 5 star.

Then when it said the wait time was 15-20 min, I decided to abandon the online order and order at the counter. There were about 3 employees busy at work and no customers. I was greeted upon arrival and helped right away. I ordered one cookie and the order came to over $9 before tip. I questioned the total and the employee returned to fix it. I like how you can easily see and pay on the screen so I could see the error. When fixed the total was about $5. Pricy for one cookie, but they do look pretty and are packaged well so they make a great gift. The rotating weekly menu is exciting, but the cookies are not very flavorful so they taste similar. Even the guava cookie had a very faint fruity flavor and mainly tasted like sugar. Many times I have noticed that the unique flavors are just in the frosting not the cookie itself. I understand having a weekly changing menu is challenging, but there is room for improvement on their flavors. The cookies are all perfectly baked and decorated beautifully. Overall, good place for the occasional treat or gift.
