This local ice cream place was recommended from a friend while we were visiting Raleigh. It was very busy being a hotter day here. I had the sea salt cookie dough ice cream and it was ok. My partner had the dairy free margarita gelato and it was amazing! Very limited parking out front but there are tables outside to sit and enjoy the ice cream. For as many ice cream joints there are these days I don't see what separates two roosters from any other ice cream shop. There doesn't seem to be anything different or special about this place other than the strange name. I don't understand how you can charge such high prices on frozen dairy. This place takes itself way too seriously and the manager gave off a snobby vibe. My ice cream was melted in record timing and it was not even hot outside. When you've got options like goodberries, amorino and kilwins down the road this place looks like a joke in comparison. Won't be back! read more

So many interesting flavors that I have not seen at any other gourmet ice cream shop - non-dairy pumpkin spice latte, chocolate chess pie, biscoff s'mores, blackberry hibiscus.. some of them limited time/seasonal flavors, some of them all-time faves. But alas, after trying the max limit two samples, I opted for my usual favorite mint chip, but they had a dark chocolate mint chip - made with Andes candy!!! It was sooo enjoyable, but funny story - it's not quite lickable. It's more of a bite- into- it ice cream or else you'll drop ice cream on your pants like I did. It's very friendly and there, they come and talk to you when you get to the counter, and let you taste samples, is everything you would need from an ice cream spot. They have a lot of extra flavors so nothing is going to be just basic chocolate and vanilla. Which I really liked and appreciated. Sea salt Cookie dough - I got this on a cone, and it had the right amount of sweet in salty to really set it off for me. They packed that one scoop in the comb to the brim so they make sure you get your money's worth! I really liked that. You can never go wrong with Two Roosters Ice Cream. My go to is the Roasted Strawberry honey flavor. The best part is that it's not super sweet or heavy like at other places. They also have a rotating list of guest flavors that are always unique and worth trying. This time I got the Bourbon Caramel Cookie and the Dark Chocolate Raspberry flavors from the guest flavors. Decent place for a scoop of flavorful ice cream. Portion size is smaller and flavors are not as strong as comparable ice cream shops. You can sample two flavors per visit. I have been to their Lead Mine location in the past. While driving through downtown we realized they opened a location in downtown Raleigh off Mordecai Drive. Getting to this location was inconvenient. Lots of street lights on the way, traffic, and limited parking. I recommend their other locations if you aren't already downtown. Two Roosters is located in a small plaza with a few other stores/restaurants. The plaza has a parking lot that fills up quickly. A few picnic tables are located outside Two Roosters for outdoor dining. This area is dog friendly. We ordered 2 scoops coffee bourbon in a waffle bowl and 1 scoop sea salt cookie dough with one scoop dark chocolate mint also in a waffle bowl. The waffle bowl was large and delicious. The scoops seemed small. Not sure if it was more of the size of the waffle bowl or the comparison to other local ice cream shops. The cup holding the waffle bowl was also small and did not properly hold the waffle or prevent the ice cream from leaking. The price was a bit steep ($14 total) for what we received. The ice cream was delicious. Very creamy with good, mild flavor. Personally I do prefer stronger flavors and more chunks (e.g. cookie dough, mint chips, etc.). We both left satisfied and recommend this ice cream shop to others! read more

And Two Roosters does ice cream right offering up an array of standard flavors along with some cool, guest flavors. The guest flavors can get pretty odd, they have even done pizza ice cream.
