I have always stopped by Raley's when I'm in the area. I live in Tracy and drive through HWY 4 bypass road to visit relatives in Fairfield, Antioch and Pittsburg. Somehow, this particular Sunday, I stopped by to buy flowers and a card for someone's birthday, and requested a cash back of $100. At first I asked for a whole $100 bill of 2-$50 bills. The lady said no. No problem, I can take 5 $20s. She counted the five bills in front of me, but I was rushing and wasn't really closely looking. And then she hurried me along even when I was still putting the bills in my wallet on the counter. She said "have a nice day!" probably about 3 times, like she wanted me to leave right away. Okay, maybe she wanted room for the next customer. I went about my way and on to Pittsburg. When I pulled out the 5 $20s to place in the birthday card, I only had 4 bills. I don't want to accuse the lady of sneaking out the other 20, because I have no proof, but there's no way I could have dropped it if I placed the bills in my wallet while I was still on the cashier's counter. And I didn't take out my wallet any time between the store and the venue. Big boo. I post this bec I wonder if other people experienced the same thing in this store. But I will make sure to keep my eyes wide open next time. read more

I have been shopping at this Raley's since they opened. There has been an obvious decline in the customer service and the appearance of the store in the last few years, but my recent experience "took the cake" My wife had been shopping there earlier in the day and told me she saw Johnny Walker Black Label for $21 if you bought 6. This is $5 cheaper than the cheapest you'll ever find it, so I went down to buy it. There was only one bottle on the shelf. I went to the check stand to ask if they had any in back. We followed a nice young kid to the back and checked and said they were out, but I could order it. I told him that would be fine and we went up front. He walked me up to the store Manager and asked him how to do it. With out even acknowledging me standing there, he barks at the clerk "well, he'll have to pay for it up front". So I chime in and say no problem, I'll pay for the 6, take the 1 and come back for the other 5. Still, not even making eye contact with me he says no. Pay full price for the one bottle, then pay up front for 6 more at the sale price and pick them up later. I objected and he said he couldn't guarantee he would ever get the six bottles And may have to refund me, so I needed to pay full price for the one tonight. To add insult to injury after he basically told me to kick rocks, he made me go to the back of the line to pay full price for the bottle. I don't know if I was more humiliated and embarrassed by his treatment of me in front of the other customers or the fact I have probably spent $50,000 on over priced groceries there in the last 10 years only to be treated like a scam artist. Funny thing is this was one of the managers (40ish, goatee, tattoos) and I'd probably seen him a hundred times in the last years. Apparently he thought I was trying to cheat his company out of $5. Needless to say I have not been back and never will return. read more

I liked this store when it first opened, but have become rather disenchanted with it as of late. The last three times I've been there, the lines have been very long and the store manager has been unwilling or unable to open more check lines. It seems, from my experience, that the standard of customer service has gone down somewhat. Perhaps they were trying "too hard" when they first opened and I became spoiled as a result? All I know is that for me, without that "extra mile" of uber customer service, it is not worth it to me to pay the higher prices at this Raley's. For items I can only get at a Raley's, I will patronize the Oakley location as their customer service is much better. Otherwise, for the bulk of my shopping, I will go to Winco -- I don't expect a lot of customer service there, so I'm not disappointed the way I am at the Sand Creek Raley's. read more

When my wife and I moved to Brentwood years ago, we began coming here, as Bay Area professionals, looking for higher quality items the big box stores don't tend to carry or cater to, in regards to their key customer base. Recently, the store has taken a turn for the worst overall. Sometimes the shelves have been cleaned out like a natural disaster swept through the store and inventory management is not on the ball like the used to be. The produce section, while it is nice to see them be one of the early adopters of the organic food movement, since their once little section now has expanded to the whole back wall of the produce section. That being said, organic does not always mean fresh. We have had to visit other stores for things such as broccolli, avocados, and lettuce, they have let wilt, age, and spoil in the bins. I notice the clerks adding new produce while we are there, but I do not see anyone performing quality checks of any kind. The staff also seem to give their unwanted two cents regarding customers' personal lives' as well. On my wife and I's anniversary, we were basically harassed and had our relationship called into question by a bakery staff member, who began asking how old we were and how long we've been together, etc. My wife is a bit younger than myself, so I was deeply offended by this woman's comments, who ruined our perfect night out. She went as far as to ask my wife what her parents thought about us being together. We were recently mocked by a cashier and asked if we were celebrities because we chose to keep our sunglasses on in the store, on a very sunny afternoon. I informed her that we were not, and we thought we had squashed her snide remarks. The next week, my wife came in alone and was harassed again by the same cashier she unfortunately had to be waited on by. She asked my wife the same question again and elaborated on it this time, getting the bagger boy involved saying, " she looks like she's about to run from the paparazzi" and really making my wife uncomfortable and very upset at this point. Her receipt machine also messed up our receipt, so it came out a crumpled mess with only 5 of the 28 items we purchased on it. The cashier never offered to fix it and moved on to the next person, like it never happened. She also smirked at my wife on the way out the door, showing her content in mocking her and ruining her day. We believe at this point it was no coincidence and that she has some sort of jealousy issue over my wife, who is a beautiful, blonde that dresses very well when we go out. We wanted to return a bad piece of produce (a spoiled piece that should have been thrown a long time ago by the way), but I think we will pass, because we will never step foot in this or another Raley's again, based on these past poor customer service and in-store experiences. My wife has called the corporate headquarters and we spoke to the manager and no action was taken with the cashier, other than your standard "sorry". It's a little too late. If I were you, I would go to the new Sprouts or drive out of your way for organic produce and better service, because if this place keeps it up, they will go under before you know it. read more

Back at 845 am on 12/27 for some breakfast items. Side door locked again, very inconvenient! Especially when parked near them. 3rd time this has happened. Safeway doesn't do this! Nor does Wincos. No hand carts available at the door again. I had to search for them. Long lines at single cashier. You guys need to do better. There's a reason why this store is always empty. Small things count. I'll try again in another 60 days. Back to good ole Safeway and Wincos. read more

Went in and purchased 5 items. Stood in line 15 minutes waiting because the quick check closed as we walked up to it. Other checkers were moving at a snails pace. There were 11 people in two lines. I proceeded following directions for the ATM card and my transaction said approved pulled card out and she says it wasn't approved. So she made me re do it. Now I have it out of my account 2x unacceptable! Won't be going Back to Raleys anytime soon. read more

Came in to buy champagne for a brunch, with my valid Virginia driver's license and was told that they only except California ID. Never encountered that at any other grocery store or gas station, including Safeway. But thankfully there are lots of other, more customer friendly supermarkets. This review is based on an experience I had (Wed, 3/7/18 3:20pm) with cashier "Andrew T" that didn't sit well with me. So much so that when I got in my car I wrote myself a reminder note to address this on yelp. Basically, I had 3 items in total to be rung up. I also had ready in hand my cc, CDL, and a shopping bag. When it was my turn to be rung up Andrew, took my items but didn't say hi or hello. Ok no problem. When it was time to look at my CDL he didn't ask for it because my hand was extended out for him to get it. He took it, keyed something in and handed it back. Again, not one word. During this time I believe a mgr or supervisor by the name of "Steven" was also there inquiring about the whereabouts of a cashier (Brigitte) who may have been on lunch a little to long. Anyway, the few seconds that Steven was there, he smiled, greeted me warmly, and asked how I was doing. At this time Andrew, finally said something to me which was the only thing he said to me "do you need a bag?" I felt like he only said that because Steven was there. I simply said no, and put my bag on the counter so I could place my items in and go. Steven, who was still around was extremely considerate by asking me to give him the bag so he could place my items in for me. I graciously thanked him for the offer as I appreciated the service. The service that Andrew made sure not to give me. Anyways, much thanks to Steven! read more

I was in this store early in the week and Cindy was the rudest cashier I've ever had before. I was not going to say anything but it literally has kept me from walking into that store since. I am new to yelp as I wish I could put a good review but honestly I would much rather travel the extra minutes than to deal with someone who obviously either hates their job or is just a total B word. Rally's always as quality food, meats and produce. You never have to worry about anything spoiling quickly. Very clean store- easy to find everything. Employees are always friendly & polite. And to top it off when I was locked out of my car & purse inside -they graciously let me contact people to help me on their phones and took their time helping me. Went the extra mile!! I'm not one to complain, so this is sincerely just a warning. If you're looking for a cake for a special occasion, I would highly recommend going somewhere else. I have had tons of luck with Safeway in the past, but this Raley's location was close and convenient. Unfortunately this is the first and last time I will come here for a cake. The woman at the bakery was very polite and willing to help, which is why I added a bonus star to my initial one star rating, but she butchered the cake I picked out. I asked her if they could write on the cake and she said yes.. I wish that she would have just told me no. When i got the cake the icing that was initially perfect had been ruined and the script was.. well.. you'll see. I didn't have the heart to decline the cake, and to be completely honest I didn't really care, I thought it was hilarious, but I can definitely see this being a problem for others in the future. read more

Bought a water melon that was almost rotten and had to be thrown away (not worth the effort.to go back and demand a refund); bought a bag of peanuts that was so stale that could barbecue my throat. Threw that away too. How can a grocery store sell stuff that is not edible? It is not far from closing its door if it continues selling stuff like this. I would much rather go to Raley's over Safeway any day of the week. However, the Deli Dept sucks. Bad service, extremely slow and undercooked baked chicken. I bought the baked chicken meal last week and it was under cooked. I couldn't even eat it. All of the other departments are great. That's my only gripe with the store. They need to secret shop the deli employees. 2 employees come to mind (asian lady and black lady). read more

I had excellent service the other night by a young girl named Sophia. I was buying some last minute roses for my grandmother and even though she doesn't usually work floral she made me some beautiful bouquets. I am very picky and undecisive most the time, but Sophia was very patient with me. She seen the problems I was having and came to the perfect solution, helping me with all my needs and left me very pleased with the finished product. The only reason I am giving Brentwood Raleys three stars is because I do love their produce section. I have always found Raleys to have the best produce available. Although my rating would of been higher a couple nights ago I had the same experience as I have had before with the same cashier. I realized I was in her line right before it was my turn to be rung up but figured she may have just had a bad day the time before. Boy was I wrong and this time I made sure to get her name, Cindy. If you are a shopper and do not want your expierenced ruined by a rude, unfriendly, snobby girl then do not get in her line. I work in the customer service industry and I personally feel she has no place interacting with the public when she lacks the most basic sense of propriety and kindness. Robin the store manager is amazing. She is up front with the customers always assisting her team. She is seen on the floor allot walking her store ensuring it is Instock for us. I come to this and the Oakley location all the time and they have the best meat departments. Always fresh. The only thing I can say for armaments is they need to lower the prices but that has nothing to do with this great location. read more

I always loved this neighborhood store. I shop here all the time. I order the kids birthday cakes here, I grab my last minute cupcakes and cookies for my kids school, leis for graduation, the Mediterranean salad for company potlucks, and tons of Dreyers ice cream for the family. I like this place so much, that I even opened a bank account here! I bank here and love all the tellers at Tri Counties Bank. My kids and the children of the neighboring elementary school, Loma Vista even had a field trip here. What a nice neighborhood store, right? But today, 9/2/2015, Sandy changed all that. My husband and my 8 year old son, who had trouble sleeping due to prolonged nap time earlier during the day, went to Raley's and withdrew money from TCBK atm located inside the store . I then asked my husband to grab 5 items for me. Wheat bread,brocolli,grapefruit,green beans and vanilla ice cream. It was 10:50pm. My husband is well aware that Raley's closes at 11 pm. All throughout, I was on the phone with my husband to let him know what we needed. 5 items thats all. At 11:01pm, Sandy the night shift manager yelled at my husband and 8 year old son and said that the store was closed and he was just taking his time talking on the phone. Sandy said that the cashier is closing and it will ruin the cashiers money count or they need to close the cash register. My husband responded "no, I'm not taking my time, I just needed to grab some groceries". Honestly, IMOHO, the store closes at 11pm and not the cash registers. The cash register closes when all customers were served in a reasonable amount of time after the store closes. I have worked retail before, and I have not once pressured a customer on the floor at closing, because I have to close my cash register a minute after closing time. Anyways, I heard all of Sandy's commotion while I was on the phone with my husband. All along my husband and I were both very concentious of the time, I even told my husband, "why is she so rude, its 11:01pm,? as if you got there when the door was already locked". At 11:02pm my husband and son was at the cashier and paid for all 5 items. My husband asked Spencer, the cashier, who the lady was. Spencer refused to give out her name.. My husband needed to ask Spencer 3-4 times, until he finally gave him her name. Which I found odd. Maybe she bullys her employee,!?? Why is he so scared to give out her name? I called Sandy that same night, and told her how rude and inappropriate her behavior was toward my family. I told her, she did not need to harass my family that way. I told her my husband and son was there at 10:50pm and he paid for the item and was out of the store at 11:03pm. She said "i dont care, you can call corporate and hanged up". I already emailed corporate to let them know about Sandy's behavior and how she lied (she refused to give me her title and she said she does not know the corporates office phone number) at first.. and later gave me the corporates phone number and title. Really?! I can't believe that this manager is really lying. She even said, I was rude. Should I be happy after the horrible service we got? I can only say this, I was VERY upset... because first she yelled, harrased my family, and I witnessed and heard all what hapenned over the phone. Second,she lied and hanged up the phone at me, and third, Sandy did not even think there was anything wrong with her behavior! UNBELIEVABLE! I loved this place....not until today's experience!!!! I understand that it's late and everyone wants to go home, after a long day at work, and everyone has their own reasons for their own actions, and their own justification for the late last minute groceries. This whole incident was unnecessary, the manager could have handled the situation diplomatically instead of being accusatory and deragatory. read more

I don't know what's going on with this company but the customer service has slipped greatly. As an ex employee of the company I know that one of their values were great customer service. There has been multiple incidents of employees just being blatantly rude. 1st time I was looking for the dry salami that comes in a roll, I approached the deli counter to ask where I can find this.. instead of the clerk pointing me in the right direction she proceeded to tell me she couldn't speak to me because she was helping someone else. 2nd incident, my boyfriend brought home flower arrangement on Monday and on Wednesday night I noticed the flowers looked like they were dead. I took the flowers out and was going to change the water and cut the stems only to find that there was absolutely no water in the vase. I proceed to call the store to ask for the manager on duty. Karen, who's new answers and I tell her my issue. She tells me that she's not able to help me that I need to call back tomorrow. I let her know that due to the position I hold, I won't be able to call back during office hours and I would really prefer to handle the issue now, I wasn't asking for a refund rather flowers that aren't dead. The call proceeds for 17 minutes while most of the time I'm on hold... she comes back on the line and says that all this time she had me on hold she's checking and she can't deal with me. So while I'm sitting on hold thinking she's assisting me she's checking. How is it that you have a manager working who can't address issues with customers. Finally Evan, a courtesy clerk answers and tells me to being in the flowers for exchange, as Karen couldn't get back on the phone and handle the issue. So my boyfriend and I come into the store where I was greeted by a checker who knows me.. she states that Karen told her I said I was belittling her by telling her "since I have a real job I can't come in tomorrow" I looked at her and asked her when those words came out of my mouth, as clearly it was a blatant lie. She just walks away..at the end of the day this whole situation could have been handled much better.. and Karen is clearly not a problem solver or a leader and should not be in a manger position. read more

This place is racist. Me and my wife came to this store to buy grocery for dinner. We normally goes to Raley's in Oakley to buy food but we was in the neighborhood so was like why not come to Raley's. 10 min we walk in a store looking around because we never been their they call security to scan floors. Remind you no one really in the store we know because we walk the whole store amaze how it look. Then we a lady stare me down as if i am going to steal, my watch her. They lock the door on the produce side where we were. We notice they did it after we paid try to walk out. I work security for 15 years i know when i am being followed in a store and why they make calls. You need to be like Starbucks and close for a day to train your people. If they felt we doing something smile at your customers interact with them at least say hello. Which not one customer did accept the cashier. Watch camera if you do not believe me. 0836 to 0855. This is one of my favorites for groceries. BUT I am NOT going in there until AFTER Christmas...due to the horrible pine scented cones they are selling that permeate the store. It's some kind of artificial sprayed on scent or something...not a natural pine. My eyes burn like fire and it affects asthma-allergy folks horribly. They moved the location and the quantity of the product, and it is less, but it still is almost unbearable. Natural pine is a little pungent yet quite pleasant. But this is almost offensive. I will rerate this store to 4 or 5 stars when they remove those things. read more

I just recently started shopping here.... I don't know if it is every Raley's or just this one but customer service at checkout is terrible. I have yet to have a pleasant experience. This last time was just so strange. The cashier was so sweet and nice to the person in front of me in line. For myself though nothing but rude. I stepped up said good afternoon and she didn't even greet me, she greeted the person behind me instead. I brushed it off. I handed her this ticket thing where you donate money to a food bank. I chose the $1 one because it was all I wanted to give at the time. She took it then told me I should donate a $10 bag of food instead. I politely said no thank you I just wanted to donate the $1 tag I handed her. She physically rolled her eyes and got kind of upset. Freaking rude. I don't have to give anything at all and with her attitude I regretted giving to any charity to do with this store. She wouldn't talk to me after that. She didn't ask if I wanted paper or plastic just started bagging in plastic till I stopped her and requested paper. She wasn't happy with that either. As I left I wished her a good day but got nothing in response. Another time I was in and there was no one in the line behind me so I thought it was a good time to ask to sign up for their rewards card. The cashier said it takes a while could I do it later. Ummm, there was literally no line. Not sure if she was anxious to go on a break, wanted some quiet time or what. I wish they had a self Check out so I could comfortably shop there. read more

We ordered a cake for my mom's special birthday and were so disappointed with the cake. The entire thing looks like it was done by an amateur. We asked for flowers and about five flowers were placed on one corner. It was so heavy that the cake was weighed down on that corner. We've ordered cakes from here before and usually the flowers/balloons are spread out on the cake. The border of the cake was sloppily done and thin. Overall the cake looked extremely plain and a mess. read more
