I am writing this negative review because of how unreasonable my experience was. Additionally, it was the second time the price of an item was mislabeled or misrepresented at this store, and the second time staff was rude about it. I stopped by the store this afternoon to get a few items. There was a shopping cart with various items in it, like mugs, s'more sticks, etc., and the shopping cart was labeled "75% off" for members. In the cart was also several small fruit cutting boards. I liked them, so I took three. There was no price label on any board. When I got to the register, I asked the cashier, Rachel, for a price check. The price came up as $14.99 each, no discount. I said I did not want them for that price, and that they were in the basket that said "75% off." Rachel responded that I was the third person that day to have them put back because the discount was not being applied. I told her that I really didn't want to put them back, and I think something needed to be fixed because they were being advertised as 75% off. Rachel asked if I'd like to speak to a manager and I said yes. She called the manager, Jason, over to help. He scanned the items again and confirmed that the discount was not being applied. He then offered to give me all three for $14.99. I said "Well no, because that would only be 66% off." Jason then looked at me incredulously and said "Wooooowwwww" as if he felt I was being unreasonable. Jason then rang the cutting boards up at $3.99 each (which is still not 75% off, but I didn't feel like pointing it out and being subjected to more attitude). Jason left and Rachel finished the transaction. Rachel then went on an on about how because Jason "did that for[me]" I could not return the cutting boards. I responded that I was not going to try to return the cutting boards, I obviously want them. She said "well someone might try and return them for $14.99 each!" and said it would reflect negatively on her because it was her register. I said to her again "I'm not going to return them," and she responded "there are cameras all around anyway." What was that supposed to mean?! I started to leave the store but the more I thought about it, the more upset I was with the experience. I turned around to ask Rachel what Jason's name was, because I didn't catch it during the first interaction. She told me his name and I said "thank you" but as I was walking away Rachel AGAIN said "You can't return them!" I did call Raley's corporate to tell them about it, and they focused mostly on the items not accurately reflecting the advertised discount. I reiterated that the main problem for me was the employees acting like I was being unreasonable for requesting the advertised discount. I'll probably continue to shop here because it is the most convenient grocery store near me, but I do feel like the staff needs a refresh on consumer protection laws and how to interact with customers who are simply expecting the advertised price or discount of an item. read more

I have never really liked this store due to the high prices and sub par customer service. This used to be my husband's favorite grocery store until he started consistently having to wait in lines and bag his own groceries while still paying higher prices. My husband said "I don't want to pay an arm and leg to have to use an arm and leg." Now, he joins me at Nugget. read more

Stopped into Raley's to grab some fresh basil and corn, and it ended up being one of those quick errands that just went smoothly from start to finish. The produce looked fresh, I found what I needed right away, and I was in and out fast -- which honestly matters more than people realize on a busy day. One of the biggest conveniences at this location is having UPS inside for Amazon returns. Being able to knock out a grocery stop and a return in one trip feels like a small life win, and I really appreciate stores that make things easier like that. Anything that saves me an extra trip is a win in my book. The store was clean, organized, and easy to navigate, which always helps when you're just popping in for a few things. This morning, as I usually do, I did my grocery shopping and after having a cart full of items...I went to the self checkout stand since there is usually no available sales clerk that early. As I meticulously added item after item with one of the ladies watching me just standing there awkwardly...I asked her to remove one of the 18 pack of eggs. When she did, she thought I had incorrectly added a 12 pack instead. She stood there and scanned thru all my items looking for the 18 pack. I felt so embarrassed as if I mistakenly added the wrong item (making feel as if I was stealing). She then realized after I called her out that the system showed it correctly and that the price was for the 18 pack. I had to show her the barcode matched everything I scanned. After she knew she was wrong (which she never apologized for) she said will cancel all the egg items and rescan them! Even after being wrong, she still didn't have full trust. I told her simply cancel the 18 pack so I can go. Why cancel all items and then rescan?? I had to move to another register for that. I bagged up all my items and then she said I need the eggs to scan them again... Which at that point, I told her to ahead and find them since it's all bagged up. She then tried to act like she was doing me a favor and said that I scanned an extra item egg item and was paying for it when I didn't receive it...I called her out on it and said this looks bad and my perception is that she thought I was trying to cheat. She kept saying no no but I'm no fool. It's so unfortunate as I shop there a lot and the feeling I have after spending over $100 isn't a good one. Why have a self checkout aisle if you don't trust your customers? I come here all the time. I should of asked for a refund and just go elsewhere. read more

Today is $5 Mondays with special Monday deals at Raleys. I go on Mondays to kill two birds with one stone...it's when I take advantage of the Monday deals and the weekly member deals. It helps to clip the deals ahead of time on your Raley's/Bel Air ap so the special price comes up on the register automatically. Today, I took advantage of avocados for $1 each, half and half cream (pint size) for $1.67, frozen shrimp for $5, and seedless grapes for $1.97 per pound. I love this Raleys because it's kept clean, organized, and the produce area is always kept up by the produce staff. Their produce always looks good. Also, the produce worker is super nice and helped me choose the right items. I wish I knew his name to give him credit for his work. read more

Went this morning at 8:30 to my nearby Raleys to order a 7-bone Beef Rib Roast for Christmas. I thought the chances of me getting on the list was slim because this was a limited time offer of $7.97 lb. (Limit 1) and it's a Saturday. Other stores had them at the same price nearby, but stipulations were too much for me, i.e. spend $50 to get the $7.97, not including the meat itself. And plus, you can never go wrong with Harris Ranch! One person was ahead of me and picked his 7-bone up. When I was next, Katrina (Meat dept. Manager) asked me how she could help; I told her I wanted a 7-bone roast with a tall cap. Immediately she suggested cradling it and wrapping it up, which I forgot to ask in the beginning. I said "sure!", and in less than 5-minutes she handed over a 20lb. Beast to me! She literally got me the biggest piece from a case, cradled, then wrapped tightly to avoid blood seeping out. And the finishing touches were verbal...she cheerfully said "thank you and have a Merry Christmas". Personal and Courteous service at its best! read more

I've been shopping at Raley's for years and spend thousands of dollars there every month because the prices are already much higher than other stores, so I expect at least decent customer service. I asked Jaime in the produce department a simple question about the produce, and instead of helping, he ignored me and gave me a frustrated look like I was inconveniencing him just for asking. What's the point of paying Raley's prices if the customer service is going to be this bad? Customers are the reason the store stays in business, and being treated rudely over a simple question makes the extra cost not worth it. read more

I've been going to this Raley's consistently due to the deals in the app. They have great deals on salads, meats (especially steaks) and chips. This is a great neighborhood market for connivence . I would say though that this Raley's is outdated and it would be great if this location could have a remolded. There are nicer stores in the area such as Nugget and the new Safeway store. Also sometimes the customer service is a hit and miss. When I have trouble with my app or forget to clip a coupon the workers here aren't the friendliest when I ask for help. Overall I would recommend this store for convenience and affordability. Just want a remodel one like the store on Freeport! read more

I'm not sure what happened at this store and hope it improves. I will gladly update this review when /if that happens. November 2024- I start shopping at this location and have a stellar experience. Then the honeymoon is over- every time I go into this store there are no baggers, the cashiers are complaining about the short staffing, and the lines are crazy. Costco has better staffing and efficiency so I'll be switching to doing my big weekly shopping there and just come to Raley's when I have a few items and can self checkout. It's a huge bummer. The guy behind me said the same thing the last time I was there. Even on holidays, the staffing is sub-par. read more

I decided to give Raleys eCart another chance after months of frustration with their stores where I spend more time waiting in line to pay than actually shopping because of how poorly managed and understaffed they are. That was a mistake. The online ordering system failed multiple times. When I tried to add a new payment method it would not process. The call center could not push the order through unless they moved all of the weighted items into the notes section, which makes no sense and shows how badly the system is designed. Because of these failures my delivery window had to be changed twice, which completely defeated the purpose of ordering ahead. What should have been simple turned into 45 minutes of back and forth with the call center just to get the order pushed through. I then received a text message saying my order was ready, but when I arrived it was not ready at all. I had to sit in my car in the eCart pickup spot for another 15 minutes while they scrambled to prepare it. When the order was finally brought out the in person payment processor failed too, and I waited another 15 minutes while they called for a manager. In total I wasted an hour and a half trying to use a service that is supposed to save time. I could have gone to Nugget and finished my shopping in 25 minutes. Instead I was stuck dealing with one failure after another. This is not the first time. This store has a long history of poor management, chronic understaffing, and disorganized operations. Even the security staff act more like enforcers than customer service. This community deserves better. The technology is broken, the service is unreliable, and the leadership has clearly failed. Raleys should be embarrassed to treat loyal customers and this manager should be held accountable. read more

Had an awful experience last night with the incompetent manager with gages. For somebody who's job description is to monitor cams, you should have more in-depth research for the next time you accuse innocent patrons of stealing before you look actually stupid. One of the people accused was my friend that can't come in because she lives cities away, and the other used to give money to your store nearly everyday before this accusation and constant misgendering. Even after we attempted to explain ourselves, he was only ever dismissive of any of our reasoning while also not giving any details on "when we stole". The hard workers who are regularly on shift here deserve a better manager than somebody who is accusatory, non-communicative, and bigoted. read more

OMG I just wanted to thank the Elk Grove Raley's. The other night I got a ring at my door and it was a little late so surprised. It was a older lady at the door. I asked if I could help her. She said she was from the Elk Grove Raley's and she wanted to present me with a Neighborhood Spirit Award given by them. She said that she wanted to thank us for decorating every year at Christmas Time. I was so shocked and thankful. I didn't even know that they did this. I got a trophy with Santa on it. With a plaque at the bottom. It said "Raley's Bel-Air Nob Hill Neighborhood Holiday Spirit Award". A heart felt handwritten card and peppermint cookies and hot chocolate bombs were also included. So sweet of them. My wife and I loved it. It sure was a surprise and such a fantastic award. Thanks again so much Raley's of Elk Grove. read more

I had the pleasure over the weekend of encountering of SALVADOR at the self-checkout. I've received exceptional customer service from Salvador at Raleys for well over a decade. I remember many times in the past when he assisted me at the USPS annex the store provided for their customers for a long time. "Kudos" to Salvadore! I ordered a specific cake for my husband a week in advance for his 65th birthday. This order was placed in person. Today I came in to pick it up and they didn't have it! I was very upset. Instead of being helpful or apologetic, the woman working in the bakery said to just pick out a different one, like it was no big deal. I said why should I pay for a cake I didn't want?? The selection was not great either. I told her I would leave a negative review on Yelp and never buy any bakery item from their store again. She finally said, we will give you the cake for free. I told her this is what I would expect her to do in this situation! She also said she was going to call me to tell me they didn't have the cake but she never did and I asked her when she had planned to do this?? How unprofessional and disappointing. Wow. Came here for help at the bakery. Not a soul in sight, asked over by the food counter for some help where the lady just stared at me and said, "is there no one there?" Well, if there was someone there would I be asking for help? And as I said yes please, I saw her walking away as if to get me help. Almost every time I come in lately they have one cashier and self checkout. My short trip doubles in the time it takes because I'm in line so long and self-checkout is frustrating when you have actual fruit/vegetables, things to weigh, and wine. They ALWAYS have expired products for sale. I have to check the dates on everything I buy. The lines are consistently long and the cashiers are painfully slow. They seem to promote having you check yourself out at the kiosk while the employees watch you do their job for them. read more

This evening my husband went to Raley's to buy filet mignon for dinner. There were two Butchers on duty. He asked if they had any filets and was told where they were located. There was one package with one steak. My husband told the butcher he needed three steaks and asked if two more steaks could be cut up for him. The butcher told him they had the filet in the back and that he "might" be cutting some up tomorrow. My husband left the store disgusted. You would think Raley's might want to make a sale for an expensive cut of meat, but apparently not. So much for customer service. Another sign of the times! read more

Comment on understaffing which has gotten really bad over the last year or so. Talk about understaffing, on Saturday, a little before 10 am there was only one cashier at the front. The line looked to be at least 8 people deep down one aisle. Self checkout keypad didn't work (would enter duplicate numbers and would not process when I pushed the green button.) Avoid both self checkout stations on the right. On several occasions on weekday mornings there were NO cashiers at 8:30 am! I am only going to Raley's for coupon specials and will go to Walmart, Safeway and Costco if this persists. read more

This store continually sells expired food. I always have to check the Sell By date to be sure I'm buying something fresh. The milk, ice cream and yogurt are frequently past their pull dates. The crackers can be more than 6 weeks outdated. Twice I have told the manager about specific outdated food still on the shelves, so they know about the problem, but haven't done anything about it. I have stopped buying ice cream there because many pints are encased in ice, as though they melted during transport and have been refrozen. As many other reviewers have mentioned, they only have 2-3 checkers available even during peak times so there is always a long line. Even the self-check out has a long line, which is annoying when you are only buying one or two items. This Raley's is close to my house, but I still drive farther to Nugget for grocery shopping because of Nugget's attention to Sell By dates, their ice cream doesn't have freezer burn, and they have adequate numbers of checkers to match the flow of customers. I mention these issues every time Raley's surveys me. Why isn't Raley's management listening to their customers (through surveys and social media such as Yelp) and making improvements? read more

It's been a year since I have done a yelp review. And tbh reviewing a grocery store is pretty lame but ya girl has something to say. Now let me preface by saying 2 out of 3 times I always get horrible customer service here. So I avoid this store like Covid. But today was it! I'm leaving this abusive relationship. Here's what happened. I went to Chase Bank and decided to stop by quickly to grab a birthday balloon and candles and decided to go through the self check out. All the machines were taken except I noticed there was one self checkout with a sign in front, so stepped closer to read it, but didn't want to lose my place in line so went back and got in line. The older white lady with short wavy hair said it was card only. I responded that's fine and started to ring up my two items. Then the machine wouldn't take my card. And it prompted that I needed assistance. I asked for help which she ended doing remotely and told another worker walking by that it's freezing again. I'm like wtf in my head like ok so what's the resolution? The guy walks by as if he could read my mind and says just be patient they're working on it. I'm like ok, this shouldn't take long. In the interim the old lady, is ringing up 2 diff customers and I'm still wondering if it's getting fixed because apparently I'm invisible now. I try to make eye contact with her but no she's too busy staring at her hands so I asked if the machine is working or if I need to use a diff one. She responds "yeah I would move to a diff one." Like such a duh response. (Like you beep beep why didnt you just say that in between your 2 customers and still didn't say anything when you were done.) yes that whole statement was in my head as my eyes rolled back and made a back flip. But my real response was it would have been nice if you would have communicated that. And she responds I was helping customers. My eyes back flipped again. Like Karen you never planned on getting back to me. You stared at your hands instead of trying to help. That was my sign to leave. If the last communication to me was "be patient, we're working on it" I'm expecting ya to be working on it and telling me what the outcome is. No matter how convenient it was that I just needed those 2 items, her attitude made me change my mind. I didn't buy the items and still returned the balloon and candles to its proper place and left walking by the self checkout and she was still staring at her hands. I'm so glad I didn't buy that single $12 balloon or the candles. I don't need to donate money to a store that hires people like this. Who lacks common sense, customer service and is entitled. Only Chanel and Hermes can be rude to me lmao. Can't wait until Safeway opens up, I rather spend my money there. Not wasting anymore time, energy or money at this Raleys. read more

Very nice store with a full selection. It's on the larger side with plentiful offerings. The alcohol selection is over the top excellent, very well thought out wines, beers and spirits. Gets really backed up at peak hours. Staff is mostly friendly but still too many grumpy folks for my liking. Even at that I seem to return on a fairy routine basis. read more

I don't often shop at this store but I was in the neighborhood tonight. I almost got back in my car when I saw the carts were all tied up and locked at 9pm with two open hours to go. No carts anywhere. How are we supposed to shop? Someone happened to unload a cart by car so I grabbed the last unlocked cart and walked in past a glaring security guard. Every interaction I had with an employee in the store was just awful. The cashier was so rude and his attitude was even a little bit threatening. Everything about this store says go away and we hate customers. I'll never be back. read more

Their bakery section was pretty well stocked for my evening visit! I was able to snag 4 tarts for $12 and my other necessities very quickly. I flagged an employee to Assist in the bakery and they were able to find me a bakery employee very quickly. The self checkout was a breeze. The entire place was very clean and organized. My tarts were amazing day of and a few days after. They held up well and I was very pleased with the taste and consistency between all 4 of my tarts! I stopped shopping at Raleys several months ago after an altercation in the bakery with several rude employees. But needing a lottery ticket this morning I figured I could buy one thing, get $20 and buy the ticket. As usual the only line open was the self-check. I bought one item and a plastic bag. But when it asked me how I was going to play I pressed "All Card tenders" and every time it would stop and bark "Needs cashier approval". I couldn't figure out what the problem was, so I asked the lady Priscilla if she could cancel it and I would use another machine. She said I didn't need to and I didn't pay for my bag. Saying I "didn't press yes" when asked. I knew I did. As she stood there, I went through it all again and it barked at me when I got to the payment. I said, "See that's what it does, it won't let me pay." She snapped my head off and said "YOU DON'T HAVE TO PRESS THAT! JUST PUT YOUR CARD IN THE MACHINE!" Honestly, I was so embarrassed after being yelled at I almost walked out. The next time I need a lottery ticket I'll just go to the new big Safeway. It's a nice Sunday who wants to be accused of stealing then get yelled at. Not me! read more

A few days before Christmas in 2023, Raley's was a lifesaver. Two days before Christmas and I needed to get started with my holiday desserts for a family Christmas party. No car to take there shopping since my boyfriend works an hour away everyday. My personal car is in another state. I was lucky that if you sign up on their app and look into getting stuff delivered by Raleys, your first delivery is free. It was easy. I ordered all my ingredients, picked a time frame and paid through the app. It's so convenient. I've also tried on other days like when I'm out for travel because of work, I send my boyfriend a case of his favorite beer for birthdays or anniversarys. Raleys will deliver. Alcohol, you just need an adult and ID when it's delivered. So convenient. I love it. read more

I have been a loyal Raley's shopper for as long as I can remember. The former one on Mack & Franklin once was my "go to" shopping destination. But after it closed down, I had to search for another store that I felt comfortable going to, where my grocery list would be met. This store is very nice inside, clean and well stocked. It's a relief that they enforce the Covid-19 protocols, including disinfecting shopping carts before customers use them. They have a nice variety of products and it's easy to locate items down each aisle. My favorite area is the produce department where everything is fresh and beautifully arranged. Fruits and veggies are an important part of our list. I also like the deli section where I get my favorite salad selections, especially potato! And I can't forget the bakery department with it's displays of amazing and eye catching baked goods that make my mouth water every time I pass by. Temptation is very hard to resist! Needless to say, this is one of my favorite locations to shop now! read more
