Being the woman of the household, Ralph's is a place I frequent all the time for groceries. Parking is a breeze because there's a huge lot. I like coming here in the mornings when it's not so busy because aisles in this store are really tight. Items are always stocked, produce is fresh and they have a nice meat selection. They just recently added a cheese shop with so many different types of cheeses to choose from which I think is pretty cool because I like cheese lol. As far as the hot food to go-- I picked up a rotisserie chicken one time and it was probably the worst I've tasted. Texture was rubbery and although it looked well seasoned it tasted very bland. Another awesome thing is that they offer a "build your own 6-pack" of beers for $9.99 which is cool because it allows you to try different kinds. There's this one nice guy named Charlie S. that works in the produce department that goes to look in the back stock for me when I ask for green bananas. I'm really reviewing Ralphs/Kroger corporation, not this Ralphs itself, but this is the only way I will be noticed (**sorry to review this location negatively, but I have no choice because the actual Ralphs in Encino where this happened has closed down**). Kroger never compensated me for my injury, I remembered this injury today, and now that I'm on Yelp I wanted to warn every shopper to shop there at your own risk to avoid this happening to you! So...I went to that other Ralphs and, because of their faulty main door (big, heavy, electric door), I slammed my hand into it and thought my hand was broken. There was a new golf-ball sized lump growing out of my hand for about a month, and it instantly became a nice dark purple color. The Ralphs manager admitted that they had problems with their doors and were actually getting them serviced b/c they opened and closed too slowly. He took my incident report, and was very nice about everything - very helpful in fact. I had to go to urgent care for x-rays after a few days because the lump was still there, luckily not broken, just a badly bruised bone. Paid for my urgent care co-pay, paid them for a hand brace they prescribed, that was about $70. A month had gone by and the pain was still bad and was also still swollen, so I went to see a hand surgeon to get another x-ray and exam, he confirmed that it wasn't broken, just a badly bruised bone, but that was another co-pay, and more of my time. But of course Kroger corporation and their insurance company from Ohio (I think that's where they were located) conveniently denied that I hurt my hand there. They claimed they reviewed the footage thoroughly (I had given them them the time of the injury to the minute) and I was conveniently not shown on camera at the time, even though it was at the only and main entrance. They spoke to the manager who told them that the door was faulty, yet they were hell-bent on not paying me or compensating me one penny. I was dumb, I should have gotten a lawyer to go after them after denying my claim and denying that the video even existed. I mean, it was only about $100+ in actual cost that I was asking for and claimed on my insurance forms. I never lied and said my hand was broken or sprained and needed thousands of dollars of work to fix it. But as it was my dominant hand, I became really slow at everything until it fully healed thanks to their faulty doors. OMG it HURT!! The least this multi-billion dollar corporation could have done was offered me a $100 refund of my medical expenses. Or sent me $100 worth of wine or something yummy to say sorry. ANYTHING to make me feel better. Even first-aid products sold there to help it feel better. Not even one freaking ice pack was offered. I still can't believe how much money I spent out of pocket after just spending only $10 in the store, and not one penny was offered to me by their greedy, crooked, &@@!@!$)))*@@#@ insurance people. Again, shop there at Ralphs at your own risk, or be smarter than me and get a lawyer if you are hurt there and deny your claim!. read more

This place is getting worse. ALWAYS a VERY long line with minimal registers open. I am gonna start taking pictures. It's ridiculous. I also hate the way they keep jamming the middle of the aisle with stuff. They are already so small that two people can't pass by each other! And now you want to add a discount bin down the middle? It is the worse with it comes to checking out. I come here everyday and they only have one to two lines open all the time. I'm literally in line now for the second time today and they shut a line down and made us move behind a lot of other people in the others lines which was really messed up. Food is excellent when you can get it. Service at the deli is phenomenally horrible. When I asked for a Signature Italian Sub, which was on the marquee along with its ingredients, I was asked what I wanted on it. A fellow employee stated the sandwich was only made in the morning, which seemed strange since they're advertised all day & night. When I told the guy the sandwich is sometimes made stocked in a deli bin, he acted as if I spoke some strange language. I've had three incidents, similar in nature. I've called and asked to speak to the manager, and though the name on the receipt says the manager is Steve Gasparyan, I have spoken to three different people claiming to be a manager and none of them with the name Steve. Further, there have been no changes made to the staff's behavior. The ambiance of the store is crowed and junky. The deli area is so crowded with cookie kiosks and miscellaneous bins that you can barely get a shopping cart through. We are live in the Encino area and this is our grocery store of choice. But I have to say it's high time we consider a classier act than this store unless drastic staffing changes are made. And I don't mean training. I just had to share that I went to Ralph's in Encino this morning with my small service animal. I was approached and so horribly harassed by 2 female customers at 2 different times for NOT LOOKING DISABLED and that my dog wasn't a service animal. That is illegal for them to do. It's none of their business and need to tell a manager if they want. I have several disabilities you can't see / one is PTSD - and my dog wears a tag and I carry current paperwork from LA County confirming dog being a Service dog. This stupid woman who doesn't know that people can have disabilities without missing a leg, etc. was so cruel, I had a horrible attack. Panic and crying. The Ralph's Security Guard didn't even make her leave! Then 20 minutes later, another woman at the coffee area snapped at me and told me I wasn't disabled! She was really nasty. It was so horrible! I complained to the manager and called the police but they came too late after I left. What is wrong with these 2 evil women? I'm so traumatized hours later, finally had to take medication and call a doctor. Please don't ever question a person in a store with a dog and accuse them of lying. Tell a manager. I like to run as many errands as early as possible, so what really really sucks is Ralphs dont seem to be 24 hours a day anymore, guess that trend is gone :( I have gone to this Ralphs since before it has become a "Fresh Fare" so after the change it took a little while to figure out the new layout of the store. Overall they have pretty much everything you need, that is if you know what you need :( being a typical male shopper I never bring a list and just try to remember what it is I need...as everyone else might do I always seem to forget the ONE THING I really needed. Parking at 6:00am is always easy and wide open and getting a cart is just as easy. They have a really good selection of Fruit and Vegetables, well to me they do. I am simple and tend to eat alot of the same things. But both are really fresh. All of their dairy products usually have a good amount of time before the experation date, although its usually the milk infront that is about to expire so if you dont remember to grab from the back...well, hope you can drink milk quickly. The best thing here is Ralphs stocks Broguiere's Milk and Chocolate milk and if you have never had it RUN and taste it, ITS THE BEST The only problem with going as early as I go is there is alot of restocking going on, so sometimes it can be a bit tough to get through the isles of boxes, but the stocking crew is always really nice and cool and will help move boxes if you need. They have alot of different cuts and selections of meats, it has always been fresh and well stocked. They have a bucher on hand as well as a someone who can answer all your cooking questions for their fish and meat. As far as their breads, that to me leaves alot to desire. They never really have a great selection of different types of breads, they have alot of different types of sourdoughs but nothing crazy and different. They have a huge assortment of cheeses. Great selection of wines, and you can buzz someone over and they are happy to tell you what wines are good and what wines go with food...I found out that BOX wine ummm isnt the best :( There is a fresh sushi maker there as well. The staff and managers have always been really nice and really helpful. If more then two carts are waiting to checkout they will usually open up another lane and bam your done. I am 68 years-old, with very limited mobility. I just can't afford to keep shopping delivery with your store. The shoppers know that if they can keep the final total below $35.00, Instacart will charge $9.95 for delivery. They just need to say "Out-of-Stock" on a few items. When they do substitute, I have had them substitute stuff like: 2-boxes of wine (3L each) for some coffee filters and a cheesecake! The girl was walking away when I opened my door. She did not check my ID. I do not drink wine. The wine cost me OVER twice as much ($18 == to over $36). Recently I ordered about 3 lbs. of chicken at $1.99/lb.. The shopper replaced it with $6.99/lb. chicken. A six (6) dollar chicken order became a $21 charge for me. 21 minus 6 = $15 more than expected! When I enter "No Substitution" - They enter "Out-of-Stock"! Isn't there any quality control? If I could walk better - I would be in the store and order an online order. Though newly remodelled, it has a few things that might need improvement. Some of the departments has a mildew smell that really is pungent. It gives the shopping experience a less than savory one. There seems to be a shortage of employees who know where everything is. I tried asking about tonic water or quinoa or oatmeal and I either got a blank stare as if such a thing never existed or that they don't carry these items. It's disappointing when they direct you to the wrong aisle. I would have given five stars but these minor things make it hard for me to not consider. read more

I've never purchased a perfectly carbonated Kombucha at this location. Perhaps it is how it is stored or maybe something happens pre-delivery, but every time and I mean errrrvery time I seek the sweet carbonated flavors of this delectable fermented tea, it is FLAT. They have the same GTS Synergy brand I love and purchase everywhere, but this location fails to deliver.... Besides my disappointed kombucha woes, this Ralphs is pretty legit. Parking is ample but it is always busy so parking spots in the front are harder to come by. They have easy self-check-out and an abundance of lines open if you like or need assistance. Food is like other Ralphs so brands and quality are still good. Only other thing about this location is they run out of their rotisserie chicken quite often. It's delicious and probably popular or they stop putting it out after a certain time. Either way, if you are looking for a rotisserie chicken after 8pm you may need to head down to the El Pollo Loco a few businesses over. Also for the handicapped patron who need mobile assistance, they have two great and speedy carts. They are as nimble as a motorized cart can be with great speed and battery life. read more

so I went in to the encino ralphs to return the rug doctor. I just wanted to get my 100$ deposit back as soon as possible and get outta there quickly. I wasn't even going to bring up how nasty the machine was, how it ruined my carpets (at least for a few days with the foul smell), the disaster in the car, etc.. but as I was waiting I mentioned what a nightmare the whole situation was to the lady helping me and she was like "oh my god that is so horrible you need a refund!" so they gave me a full refund and marked the machine as out of order.. so yea! I want to say how pleasant the cashier Daniel was when I was shopping in Ralph's today. There was a line of people at his register, and the woman in front of me had a large load of groceries. And when she got to the front and her groceries were all rung up she realized she had the wrong credit card. Daniel said no problem, and he suspended the transaction then had to bag all the groceries since no one was working to assist. The customer returned and paid. Then my turn, my groceries were about $100, and included some sofa that was supposed to be discounted. The discount did not come through. Daniel apologised to me and those waiting to check out and he then he asked for a card to adjust the price to the sale price. The manager came over to loudly tell daniel he did the transaction incorrectly. He told her he adjusted it yo the correct price. She yells, that is not right. She did not tell him how to adjust the price. She then said, void the entire transaction. Daniel l, asked, are you serious? He then rang me out and as I was learning she was yelling. "How did you ring him out). Daniel kept his composure and kept working. It is not surprising that Ralph's is not overrun by happy employees when the female manager up front is so rude and focused on embarrassing the employees. read more

Wow, seeing they only have 3 stars doesn't surprise me. I just started working in Encino, and decided to go the this Ralph's for lunch. When I got their at the hot prepared food area, there where 3 people attending customers. Two of them where helping customers while a new guy in training was updating pricing. One guy finishes with his client and immediately helps the next person in line. Then the other guy finishes and looks at me and walks in the back area. then the new guy goes to the back area and then they both come back to the area where the new hire was working at , which is almost next too me. Still as I look at them with a ticket in my hand, they simply look at me and just continue about their business. I didn't say anything on purpose to see how long this will continue. Without any disregard to me , they both go back to the back area and after a while the new hire comes back, just wandering around like a lost blind man. Finally since he has no idea he's their to help customers, I go up to him and ask him for assistance. What really irritated me was that the one guy saw me several times and never said anything! There where 3 of them - the one guy with a tattoo of lips on his neck was the only one helping clients. The new guy was in training to be fair. The other guy however was a piece of shit and should be fired, since he clearly hates his job. Why am I writing this much, because I waisted so much time there, that I lost my lunch period and basically went their for nothing. In all fairness, when I ask to speak to the manager, She (A pregnant lady) was apologetic and seem to genuinely feel bad. Bought a pack of beer from here just to take it home and find out all the lids were screwed open! So I took it back concerned about someone putting something in my beers... the managers respond was that she can't do anything for me cause I threw away the recipe... Security guards patrol this shopping center, so don't even think about abandoning your car there and walking to another shopping center/business. They WILL tow! My one co-worker was towed at a fee of $500+ to retreive her car! This location is a Fresh Fare so you know "off the bat" that it's not your typical Ralph's market. This place is clean, organized, and well stocked. The produce looks fresh. The deli section has huge array of selections. They even have crab cakes! They sell teriyaki chicken (I've never tried, but looks good). The bakery section sells cakes from Sweet Lady Jane (popular bakery on Melrose). The meat section has kosher beef, chicken, and lamb. I believe they have halal as well, but I'm not 100%. The only downside is that the parking gets packed, they hardly have any cart return stations so carts are scattered throughout the parking lot shared with other stores. read more

So I came here with co-workers for lunch to get a sandwich from their deli. The deli at Ralphs in general is usually pretty good. Silly me left my glasses at work (super bad idea), so I had to squint to read the available items on their menu. However, squinting only got me to see the names of the sandwiches and not the ingredients. After squinting for a good few minutes, I saw the BLAZING BUFFALO CHICKEN PANINI. I thought to myself, "Great, I love buffalo wings, this should be a delicious sandwich". So the sandwich included two main things that I do not enjoy eating: Bleu Cheese and Bacon. By the time I realized this, it was too late, she already put everything on the sandwich. Even though there was bleu cheese and bacon which I don't really like, the sandwich was pretty good. Their buffalo sauce had a pretty good kick to it. They gave a lot of meat and they use Boar's Head. Now why 3 stars instead of 4: Service here is SOOOOOOOOO SLOW. (i don't know how to emphasize it more.) There were 3 people working at the deli counter, which includes both the sandwich station and the rest of the deli meats and salads. The lady making my sandwich had no clue what was in the sandwich. She had to keep looking at the menu board (the one I couldn't read) to know what items to get. Also, this place is not really efficient because all the meat is not precut (which makes it fresher) and all set out like subway to form an assembly line. read more

I've been coming to this Ralph's for two years and it is by far one of the worst ones I've encountered. I had an employee walk away from me while I was literally mid sentence. She is an older lady working the self checkout and seems completely unable to handle the stress of her position. I get it. Working in a grocery store probably isn't the most fun job ever, but can you at least be polite while working? I've also encountered wayyy too many people with their masks pulled down under their chins in this store.
