On 4/5/20 I placed my first Home Delivery order on Ralphs.com. It was order # 1200970311041067504. The first available time it gave me for delivery was Thursday 4/9, four days later. With the covid crisis, this was understandable, but it was disappointing that moments after placing my order, the app was offering same day delivery. Unfortunately, I had already placed my order. I might have canceled and tried to get an earlier delivery date, but I couldn't trust that I could be assured of the new time that was being offered, and I would have needed to start my order all over, so I let the original order stand. I asked for no substitutions, except for one item. Yet when I received my order, I found that they had given me "low sodium" bread. I did not order "low sodium" nor did I want it. Also I specified no substitutions on the 20 cans of cat food I ordered. Cats are very finicky and will not eat certain food. My cats will not eat tuna or beef or friskies country dinner. Of the 20 cans I ordered, 11 cans were flavors I knew from experience my cats would not eat. I took these items back to Ralphs in Whittier today and they refused to take them back. I said then you should at least give me credit. This was a waste of money I did not ask for. They would not. They said my problem was with instacart. Not Ralphs. I ordered these items on the Ralphs app, and I specified no substitutions. They said it wasn't their problem. I tried to change my rating for the order today after Ralphs refused to give me credit for the wrong items. I got a message telling me the rating and tip could no longer be changed. This is to say nothing of all the text messages I received just prior to my order being delivered, telling me certain items were not available and would be removed from the order. Why couldn't they have told me this at the time I ordered. I placed this order for delivery so that I wouldn't have to expose myself to covid unnecessarily. I am 65 and have medical conditions that put me in a vulnerable group. I had to go out to the store anyway, after the order was delivered, just to purchase the necessary ingredients for meals I had planned to cook. Store is always well stocked, even though the current pandemic, shelves have been kept up. The place is clean except the bathroom. But I know this also falls on those that use it, some people are just nasty and lack proper hygiene. Anyhow, produce is always great and last for days. The staff is always friendly. read more

Hands down best florist (Cristina). Walked in last minute for a special bouquet for a friend who was diagnosed with some pretty bad news and stopped in to find a special flower to make her smile (if possible). When Cristina (Floral Department) asked if I needed help and I shared my story about my friend being pretty ill she went over and ABOVE to make me smile and helped me make a special arrangement. And let me tell you..... she did AHHHMAZING.... I had a least 9+ nurses compliment my arrangement at PIH and not to mention my sick friend who blasted them all over social media. I was happy I was blessed with a great flower associate and more happy I got to see my friend smile. :) read more

EXCUSE ME FOR INTERUPTING YOUR TEXTING BAKERY EMPLOYEE WITH RED HAIR. I stopped by at 7:02 pm Wednesday looking to buy 12 cute cupcakes for my group of kids. Saw her and another employee standing in dark bakery "Excuse me can I have 12 of the cupcakes in the display"? She drops her phone down and gives that look that teens do. She walks around and I point at the 14 cupcakes and said "can you give me 12 of those cupcakes" She said no that I needed to special order. I was taken by surprise and left and when across the street to Cardena's Mexican Market and bought my 12 nice cupcakes. Later I thought how can they be special order if I have bought cakes out of that same display just walking in? Always been a decent place, has pretty much everything you need. Workers have always been nice and helpful. Prices are alright, and plenty of parking. Never has any issues with fruit, produce, and meats. What else can you say? It's a grocery store. read more

I rarely come to this Ralph's since there is another grocery store closer to where I live. Many of the workers here are really nice and always greet you.. The time I have came including today there is this one cashier lady by the name of KRISTY P that stands out and is a total b!t*h. She is sooo rude to the customers and has a habit of packing your items and throws them towards you. Management really needs to look into this and look at store footage and analyze how she is. Very bad customer service, has no patience with people what so ever. I would give the place 5 stars because it is well kept but unfortunately I will give 2 because of this lady. read more

I really enjoy the bakery here. We frequent this Ralph's for all our Birthday Cake needs and the ladies who have helped us w/ the decorations have all been exceptional. Service w/ a smile each and every time and the extra efforts go far in creating a unique cake experience that the lucky boy/girl ultimately enjoy. Whether we want a princess, hero, sports, or Hello Kitty theme, the bakery staff stops at nothing to really make our cakes shine. The cupcakes are great too ;) just be careful when you light candles on them because we've burnt some of the props on them before, waxy cupcakes aren't as yum as the moist kinds :P Supermarkets typically do not leave a lasting impression for me, but it's a definite pleasant to have been surprised by an inviting and willing staff. read more

This was my go to store, and prior to COVID the service had started to slip, they've removed the 10 items or less checkouts and replaced with self check, last time I checked I wasn't employed by Ralph's as a cashier. I cant beleive I havent written a "wine" review yet.. Well I always get my wines here believe it or not. I also go to the ALBERTSONS in La Mirada. You always find a good variety of wine. And if you buy 6 you get a 10% discount. YAY!!! My fav wine..... 03 robert mondavi fume blanc reserve... mmmmmm I remember when it used to cost 4 dollars a bottle. I purchased a box of sushi they have just added this service, which is good quality, unfortunately at the self-register after paying for it the box came apart and all the sushi spilled on the counter it seems like the package was not sealed properly, totally wasted $15. One of the managers witness the incident but they would not take any responsibility. Sad, it used to be a good fair organization. I was hoping to get refunded or given an option to get a replacement. I went cross the street and bought a replacement one from Stater Brothers. By the way I am a regular Ralphs shopper going forward I need to think twice. read more

I shop here for groceries at least once a week. The cashiers and employees are very kind to me. We are all dealing with the Coronavirus pandemic and the employees are on the front line of this pandemic while the majority of us are at home with our families. Today as I was walking to an open cash register, I was told very RUDELY by a Ralph's employee that I needed to go to the designated line and from there she would dictate which register I should walk to. Ralph's has a bootleg poster written in crayon, between two aisles, that specifies which lanes you need to stand at. HERE is a SUGGESTION: place the poster in front of the registers so that the customers do not accidentally and innocently walk up to an open register. The employee has much to learn about customer service, respect, and overall decency. If she is the manager then it would explain for the overall decline at this Ralph's store. The employee was very comfortable in her negative behavior which means she sees nothing wrong with it. I know these are stressful times; however the employees at the Ralph's store in Friendly Hills and Trader Joe's are always friendly, helpful, and respectful. From now on, I will make the extra 15 minute drive to the Ralph's in Friendly Hills. read more

I won't be coming here anymore. Super long line through the middle of the store, while cash registers remain unused. This is true even in the middle of the day, midweek. They do however pay someone to stand there and guide the shopping carts in the front aisle. And no, I'm NOT using the self checkout unless I get an employee discount. read more

I've been coming to this grocery store at least once a week for years, not only do I love the products I find but the staff is what really makes this my favorite place to shop for my family. This location has a horrible parking lot, The spaces are too small. Everything in this place is too tight there is no circulation the baskets are huge. The selection is awesome, great choices in this tiny space. Prices are average, the store is clean and neat. Every vender is awaiting your attention before you walk in the front doors, this is very annoying and sometimes can block your timely entrance and exit. I'm am always frequenting this Ralph's market. I live close by. I've had issues with the service at the deli counter, but I do keep coming back. Recently, I was disappointed to find out that they raised the prices of their garlic bread, which wasn't a big deal but when I got home I found out that they're only putting spread on one side of the bread. So not only is it more expensive, the bread was falling apart, and there's hardly any garlic spread on it. I guess I'll be buying my garlic bread elsewhere. read more

Where do I start with this Ralph's? Built in the 90's as previous reviewer stated, at a time this area really needed more supermarkets to meet growing demand due to rapid community growth. With store itself having a lot of mileage on it, it's been kept up pretty well, clean, organized and well stocked. Customer service has been good for the most part, although at times, especially late at night, I have seen the younger employees more involved in their conversation to each other barely acknowledging their customer(s). Also late at night you see a lot of young people fulfilling their Alcoholic beverage needs (mostly beer & hard liquor) but it does run out fast on favorite economical brands, especially big sporting events or party holidays. I wish I could be confident in giving it 4 stars, but I can't. Reason being is I back up what one of the reviewer's stated about the rash of on flow beggars/panhandling and solicitors that have become a daily nuisance to their customers. Creative & desperate they've become when you either see (more often a routine now) a young couple w/children or young parent holding close to newborn baby in arms asking for donations or an older 40-50 year old person who usually look scraggly & strung out combing the parking lot soliciting candies in a box for about $3 or those small packs for $6 that you probably find at 99c/Dollartree. I'm sorry but they obviously don't look like legitimate fundraising. I do occasionally see the shopping plaza security shooing them away, but there are too many for one person to handle. Makes it rough for those innocent kids that actually do sell for fundraising. The other issue I have with this market is we have gone inside to rent Redbox dvds and while waiting in line have witnessed on more than one occasion, the people also in line w/children or preteens that hop on the motorized shopping cart right next the dispenser, turning them on and off, cart moving slow, while other kids in front of it. I don't understand why these aren't locked up & require permission to use, or are so easy for anyone to turn on and ride. I figure maybe easy access for those who are disabled, elderly, people w/weight issues that have difficulty walking, etc. (Although I've seen perfectly healthy, capable people accessing them & am puzzled by it). It just seems like a situation is going to come up one day where someone, mainly a small child is going to get injured and/or get smashed to death. Seriously going to have to bring that up to the manager there the next time. For those two reasons I'd prefer giving a one star (zero if it was allowed) but the other circumstances outweigh the negatives. Side note: Deli foods at times seem to be over/undercooked more often. read more

It's an OK supermarket. They built it in the early '90s, so it's not totally old and decrepit. The people who work here seem to be younger than the average supermarket workers. As such, they can be a little bit distracted, but they're usually pretty nice. I can't really think of a reason to give a Ralphs more than three stars. They did stock Food from the 'Hood dressing when I filled out a comment card. I haven't been back recently to see whether they're still selling it. If you're in the neighborhood, you're better off shopping at Stater Bros. across the way. read more

I mainly shop at Trader Joe's and Sprouts but I will come here for things I need in a hurry. The store is pretty basic - Deli, Produce, Frozen, Alcohol, etc... I would like to comment on the ready made chickens. I've bought 2 in the last 6 months. One was soooo dried up and old looking (it was only 7:30pm on a weeknight and didn't see the condition because I was famished) and the other was undercooked. They were gracious about taking them both back but who the hell wants to get back into the car after a long day at work and sitting in over a hour of traffic? Not me. So I learned my lesson about buying chicken from here. Also, this particular location has a lot of beggars and pan handlers that like to harass you as you walk in/out. I actually had a ballsy one approach my window as I was getting ready to exit my car! The kicker: He had a little girl no more than 5 in tow. He was walking around so fast I thought she was a rag doll. I advised management and they quickly called Whittier PD. I understand people need help, however, this store is FLOODED with them no matter what time of day it is. read more

This use to be my closest Ralph's to home. I've been a Ralph's customer for over 20 years. Not here. Front end manager Donald Kaiser was of no help, had an issue with my receipt that they over charged me, did not even once apologized for the inconvenience, it was for my baby's milk. Will take my shopping to the one on Colima or Shop at Albertsons for better prices and customer service. Ralphs is the only store where I can find Weight Watchers yogurt (outside of WalMart and I don't like going there anymore because of the crowds). I know this may not sound like a big deal, but when you're attempting to lose weight and/or maintain it something like this is important. I prefer this Ralphs to the one that's closer to me (in Pico Rivera). I like that they have more variety with their products at this Whittier location. It's still no Vons for me. That's my usually grocery stop, but when I'm looking for my yogurt, here's where I come. This Ralphs has a decent service-deli and bakery. I can find my Laughing Cow products and some flavors of the Athenos hummus (but Vons has a much better selection here). The one thing I don't like here, is that the produce is very expensive. They don't have weekly deals the way Vons does, so buying apples is always expensive. This is a good grocery store to come to if you're on the West side or if you live in Uptown Whittier. read more
