Really disappointed with my first experience at Stater Bros. I went in craving carne asada and paid $40 expecting to get actual steaks or decent-sized pieces of meat. Instead, I was given a bunch of tiny, ripped-up pieces that didn't even resemble a full steak. The employee who helped me also wasn't very helpful or friendly, and the whole interaction left a bad impression. He seemed to already be in a bad mood. This was my first experience buying carne asada from this location, and unfortunately, it will be my last. $37 for what I received is unacceptable. I just walked out after walking the whole store. I got to the bakery section, and there was a woman with a PET dog in her cart (a service animal will be on the ground so it can do its job), and she was touching open item foods. Ordered my groceries online for pickup. Used the app to let the store know my husband was on the way and again when he arrived--still waited 20 minutes before he had to flag someone down to help him. Husband came home. When I opened the grocery bags I found that the majority of my order was missing. Called the store 15 times and was hung up on every single time without even getting to talk to anyone. I had to drive back to the store to handle everything and got a lame apology that hardly feels sufficient for such TERRIBLE SERVICE. I won't be shopping here anymore. This is my favorite and store I frequent the most since it close to my house. The store is well maintained, clean, and has a spacious parking lot. The staff is always helpful and cashier polite. Great local grocery store in Whittier! The prices are always competitive and they are usually fully stocked with everything I need. The store is very modern and clean looking. The employees are typically nice and helpful as well. The best thing Staters has going for it by far is their fried chicken. It might be the tastiest fried chicken I have eaten. The potato wedges are amazing as well. Oh yeah, they also have a box of like 16 or so chocolate chip cookies that are baked there and they are are super cheap and actually really good. Hello, the purpose of my email is to provide feedback on Store #206 in Whittier, ca. I shop this store often and live around the corner. The times I shop it's usually fast and easy, however there's already been two occasions where the stay is not living up to the expectations that Stater bros is known for. For example the meat counter is usually great however I had to wait over 20 mins to have ground beef grounded. I was patient until the gentleman that assisted went off to the back and never bothered to acknowledge that I was still waiting, while line is backed up and two managers had to step in. It wasn't the waiting part it was the lack of acknowledging and that he never finished what he started. There's a difference between customer service and customer experience and I received neither. Today again 10/22/25 visited the self checkout lanes as the regular checkout was too long. I'm usually fast and know how to code the produce. I understand that it's 15 items or less and it's never been an issue prior but, two times I've been told it's only fast checkouts. I understand but I am a consumer and that perception is not great to think that I frequently shop here and this is the attitude. I don't always have over 15 items but when lines are long , more lane should be open. This is more feedback for the store and hopefully it'll be a learning opportunity for the staff. Do Not Buy A Gift Card From This Store!! My Dad, a senior citizen, bought a gift card from this store and when the person he gifted it to tried to redeem it, it did not work. My dad took the card and his receipt back to the store and the store manager told him that "all sales are final" on gift cards and they would not reimburse him or give him a new gift card. My Dad is a loyal customer and this is very disappointing. We will no longer be buying gift cards at Stater Bros. and I would recommend that others do not as well. read more

Shout out to Lupe in Deli Dept at Staters Whittier. He was extremely helpful in suggestions on different meat cuts. He cleaned slicer before placing my cuts on slicer. Usually the slicers are full off prior cuts of meat. Lupe gave VIP service. Have two Staters alot closer but I will drive the extra 20 minutes here. read more

I love coming to this place because it has so many great food choices. They have a large sushi station with chefs on hand. There's a big bakery, deli, and butcher shop. They have a Krispy Kream station with fresh donuts. The place is very clean and well organized. read more

The deli market has terrible customer service. As I had been waiting in line, knowing I was seen by another deli worker, they decided to help some guy that had just walked up to the counter. Very unprofessional. I will not be returning to this deli location again. The produce such as veggies and fruits always have a soft taste to them as if they are old. And the packaged meats are always brown, like they're old too. On a separate trip to here, I asked a worker where an item was and rudely he said "you can read the signs on the aisle." I wish I could remember his dumb name as he was so stupidly rude. I obviously don't work there and you obviously do, train you staff better. The meat market DESPERATELY needs a number system. To go based on "next" when a line can start from any side and people flow in from any side is beyond ridiculous. Get a number system and create something that's organized. The manager Louie Gomez did not follow up with a complaintI I had regarding a worker named Patty. Patty who was asking personal and intrusive questions while my sons were purchasing meat. The supervisors there have no sense of customer service. For being a store manager Louie showed no concern. A letter has been written to corporate. We have yet to receive a phone call or an apology. I have been a Stater Bros shopper for nearly twelve years and I have never had a negative experience until recently regarding an uncomfortable experience I had with an employee. On a Sunday afternoon, me and my brother went to the meat department to get some steaks for a barbecue where an employee named Patty helped us. She asked my brother if we were together and while initially I assumed she meant it as in if we were shopping together, it became clear that she was asking if me and my brother were together romantically. My brother was quick to let her know that me and him were in fact siblings. Despite my brothers explanation, Patty continuously tried to insinuate that me and my brother were together romantically in a condescending manner by making remarks such as "Are you sure?" and "That's what they all say." Apart from the fact that this exchange was extremely rude and invasive for an employee to bring upon to their customers, it doesn't help that she continuously tried to push that same assumption onto me and my brother despite him directly telling her that we are siblings. We both felt extremely uncomfortable and promptly complained to management there, yet management themselves have not done much other than claim to have spoken to the employee. I now plan on complaining to corporate. If they hire employees that make personal comments toward their customers, then I plan on never returning again. read more

Short story: I was refused service by a group of Latino staff members at this Stater Bros in (a likely) discriminatory manner. I was denied a large-dollar amount money order to cover a new rental. The reason? I was "suspicious". California Civil Rights Division and California Attorney General's filings are now submitted and in-flight. Also, please contact me if you know a good lawyer who might do this on contingency -- I'm looking around. When I made the initial request, the staff radioed for assistance, went into a huddle and began tossing darting glances back at me. They were clearly disconcerted that I was asking for this figure. They asked me to fill out an audit log (which rightly, is Stater Bros' policy). It was also my right to express hesitation about what would happen with my SSN, which has been stolen multiple times, where it would be shared and whether this was S.B.'s policy or just something they were doing with me. They treated my inquiry as pretext to say they "weren't comfortable" giving me a money order, because I was "trying to avoid the log." (Note: under California Consumer Privacy Act 1798.125. Consumers' Right of No Retaliation, refusing service because a customer asks about their personal data is illegal). When I called them out online for being both racist and ignorant of the California privacy law, they went around social media attacking my reviews to try to get them taken down. Here's the kick: I submitted to the above agencies both a copy of my lease (signed a day after this event) and the money order receipts I got from somewhere else. This wasn't anything nefarious... They made the wrong assumptions for the wrong reasons, and then tried to bury it (unsuccessfully). An apology and a promise of retraining would've put this to bed for me. This stater brothers is the best stater brothers ever. I really hope they do not change any of the departments that are within but I have heard rumors on a couple of counters that will not be available soon. My favorite is heading out to the counters, and getting the service that we receive, which is outstanding. All the clerks are very very accommodating. The food is very fresh and I especially love going to the service deli where they could serve potato wedges, which I think everybody knows what those are and they are so delicious, the chicken tenders spicy and regular along with all the side dishes there all the way down to the bakery even the luncheon meat section for handmade sandwiches on the spot with their wonderful bread. The store as you come in is very beautiful with all its flower arrangements. The ambience is super cool as it's always seasonal and there's always something wonderful. You could pick up there for a last-minute gift as far as flower bouquets, candles, children's balloons, etc.. The cake section at the bakery can't take orders on the spot and they have several options there so take your time and enjoy looking at them because what you see is not what you get on the floor and behind the case there are several variations of cakes that they can make for you, and are very very creative and helping you to design and bake according to your favorite flavors and for your children as well and family of course. I also heard an inside that this is a Stater Bros. they use in those commercials. The model stater brothers in Whittier has it. Hey, don't stop whatever you do the meat market. Oh wait, the meat market is another section that is out of this world and I don't get any of my meats, plentiful choices and marinated meat at any other place--at any other market, period. The same goes with the fruit bar and salad bar. Wonderful I cannot imagine going there and picking and choosing your own fruits and vegetables to go into a bowl. Such a wonderful wonderful concept. All in all this is a very nice and large new grocery store. They have a huge assortment of pretty much everything, including a larger organic selection than most non-specialty stores in the area. The staff were all super friendly and welcoming. Their butcher counter is HUGE. I also liked their fresh cut fruit counter, which is f something you typically see in most grocery stores. Their deli selection is great, with cheaper prices than the Ralph's counter. They also have a fresh sushi counter right as you walk in, that also offers teriyaki bowls and ramen, which is a nice variation on what ready made foods are typically available in a grocery store. My only real gripe is that there was a noticeable price increase on certain items I'd usually buy at the previous location, but overall I really liked this store and could see myself shopping here regularly. read more

Stater Bros took their normal store format but expanded it to serve the local demographic which is primarily Hispanic, myself included. They bolillos, fresh tortillas, you can get chiles rellenos, there is sweet bread, deli counter has crema mexicana, queso fresco, cotija - but it still also has all the regular American stuff from any Stater Bros.
