Nick (I think he's the store manager but not full sure) is always incredibly helpful. He's helped me track down the last remaining bag of Have'a Chips (on the bottom shelf under tons of other bags), find a smaller bag of Doritos so I didn't have to waste any, and I've seen him bend over and make concessions to keep a very demanding local customer happy. He is kind, funny, and communicative, an asset to this store. Thank you, Nick! What could improve: There is a wide range of skill levels at the sandwich counter. I've been going there on beach days forever but it's really a gamble. I feel like there could be better training for the people making sandwiches. Hubbers and I joined a group of his buds for a weekend getaway at a house rental up in them beautiful hills of Malibu. We were in need of some essentials and this was the closest store. So after making that windy road down, Hubbers and I found ourselves up walking through here making sure we got everything off the list. I guess even with groceries location matters. I notice the price points here are slightly higher. (Makes sense. After all, this IS Malibu.) It isn't too bad, though, but what I do like are the coupons you can clip online and use in the store. We did find a few bargain buys we felt we could use for the weekend, so all good! I found a bit of trouble using the app and the cashier, like a pro, showed me with such ease. She was really nice! This might be a one and done (at least for awhile since I don't live anywhere around here) but a good first run at that. Should there be a repeat of that weekend run? I went to the deli at this Ralphs. On the sign it advertised 4 piece wing dinner with 2 sides for $8.00. The server started preparing the meal and went to a tray that had grilled wing pieces . I told her I wanted the fried whole wings. Nothing on the sign indicated that it was pieces. I thought I was getting a 4 wing dinner like KFC & Popeyes offer. A male clerk came up and tried to explain to me. He said Did you think you were getting 4 whole wings with sides for $8.00! My response was YES, since that is what's advertised. Not bad for a lone grocery store out here on the PCH across from Pepperdine. They have self-checkout which I'm learning not all grocery stores do, and I'm grateful they had it. Selection here was fairly decent, considering some people out here never venture past certain roads I'm sure (they have their own personal version of their electric fence so to speak). Clean, friendly employees, I have nothing bad to say about this place. Large parking lot shared with other businesses in this area, including a CVS a door or so down. read more

Deli service I have shopped at our local Ralph's for close to 30 years. I often get cold cuts from the deli service. Today I bought some slices of turkey breast. i asked for half a pound. The person helping me was very friendly. Prepared the cold cuts and when I brought my package home it was plob of meat. Meaning it all stuck together. I couldn't take slices off. It was all in one bulk. I think it would be wise what Gelsons does or Whole Foods and put paper in between the slices. I understand this takes extra time and effort. I get it. This has happened before many times. I was hoping today would be hopefully a different helper. But nope. One blob of meat all stuck together. So when I went to make sandwiches for my family I had to just take stuck to each other slices and make the sandwich. I think this is not ok and I wish the powers to be would do something about this. Anyways. I will continue he to go and maybe next time ask them to out paper in between the slices. Who knows what reception I will get with that request. But for $20 or more a pound I feel it should be possible. Thank you. read more

Just had an encounter with a self proclaimed manager named Juan Carlos that refused to sell me and my friend a bottle of tequila even tho he had his i.d an cash at hand. Originally A friend was trying to buy the bottle so I had him use my apple pay as he didn't have his card with him, when he told us that it was an issue and couldn't do it we politely left. To pull out cash then came back to try to repurchase the bottle that is for a Christmas gift he refused to sell to us and I strongly feel like we where being descrimated against because we were all over the age of 21 myself being a 32year old man I felt like juan Carlos went about the interaction the wrong way read more

I think this is my favorite Ralph's. For sure, this & woodland hills are the most well stocked. This location puts Brentwood & Pacific Palisades to shame - namely because it's larger, has a broader variety of items, brands etc. They have a humongous and impressive selection of cheeses, a great produce department and wine department. It's clean, they're friendly, with ample free parking. The staff are warm & they typically have short lines. I've often found managers specials here too. This is a great grocery store with an expansive selection for all price points. read more

I went to the deli department to get chicken as i have been for the last 5 years. I asked for the 12pieces which is offered at 3 x 4; the guy on the picture offered 15 saying its todays special - but i couldn't hear him well. He put in 2 thighs, breats and 6 wings and 3 drums in the box. I asked him its supposed to be 3 pieces of each kind and if its 15 or 16 pieces cause i couldn't hear him well with the mask and he wasn't speaking loud enough. He then gave me an attitude and said ok i will give you 12 pieces. I asked your todays special is 15 pieces or 16? He then repeated i will give you your 12 pieces. It was so rude and disturbing that i didn't want that chicken anymore. In fact i didn't ever wanted to come here again. The Ralph's markets seem to be changing for the better. They are elevating their stores. I have noticed a much larger selection in all categories. The baked goods look delicious and displays are stacked. The cheese and deli sections feature hard to find items and Boars Head meats. You won't find a better selection of yogurts ! Also they have Halo Top ice cream which you cannot find anywhere else. Try it. It will change your life. Anyway, I enjoyed shopping at this Ralph's and am pleased with the changes they are making. 56/100 read more

My friend and I got racially profiled here last night. We went inside to get some fried chicken and Mac & Cheese. We go to self checkout and to do our transaction. I even said to the the self checkout cashier, "Have a great night and stay safe!" She said "you too." (Mind you, my receipt was on top of my fried chicken) My friend said he needed to use the bathroom so we went to the back and I just waited in an isle just minding my own business. In the corner of my eye, I see a employee walking really fast with an empty grocery cart darting her eyes at me. I just brushed it off and just thought, "okay bitch.." He comes out and we are starting to leave the store. As we're outside a guy comes out running toward us and tells us to stop. He asked if we paid for our food and apologized for being "that guy" and we just needed to show our receipt. Once again my receipt was on top of my purchase and I said, "Here's my fuckin receipt." And we walked away... This was completely unacceptable and completely racist. We clearly paid for our purchase and once again my damn receipt was on top of my purchase... disgusting I called the manager this morning and he will be looking at the camera footage to see who was working last night. He said " I never want any customer to feel that way PERIOD" so let's hope no one has to experience that again... I really hope something gets resolved. The sushi chefs are rude af, and totally disgusting, smoking cigarettes directly outside the market, then using those same cancer ridden hands to make your rolls? Sickening. Management should stop this. Even if they wash their hands- still not healthy. On top of this I can't even count the number of times where I thanked them for making my sushi, or adding what I asked etc, to only have angry face, no smiles, no your welcomes back . Sad and rude. I like this Ralphs. It's in the Malibu Colony Plaza. I've never had trouble parking here. I live in downtown L.A. but I enjoy the parks and beaches in Malibu. I mainly come here for snacks and picnic supplies. I love the sushi counter. They seem to have a nice assortment and it's better than most grocery store sushi. When I go by in the afternoon there is usually someone behind the counter making sushi. It's very clean. The staff is nice & polite. read more

I always love shopping at Ralphs and am glad that there is an affordable option for groceries in Malibu. Great place to stock up on drinks and snacks for the beach, as the prices here are better than all other stores in the area. Plenty of free and easy parking, store is large and well maintained. Bathrooms are located upstairs in an employee area, not so great, I would not come here and use the bathroom again. Store is older, but well maintained and the staff friendly and helpful. Location is great, perfect for locals and passing through, highly recommended if you are looking for groceries in Malibu. read more

I'm writing this review while il standing in the store in the frozen foods aisle. The level of profiling and outright discrimination I have experienced in the 10 minutes I've perused the aisles is frightening and concerning. I, a black male aged 32, have been asked six (6) times if I'm in need of assistance, had two male employees discuss my "intent to steal" in Spanish, perhaps assuming that I couldn't understand what they were saying. I feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome, as if the staff of this store are telling me that I'm not wanted in their store. I offered a "Happy New Year" to three different employees, and did not receive as much as a head nod of acknowledgement from a single one. I am someone. I am a man. I matter. I just want the simple decency of being acknowledged as a paying customer within your establishment. You can do better, it's 2024 for Christ's sake. read more

Maria at the registers was incredibly rude to me this morning. I approached the cashier station, waited and waited for her to turn around as she was sorting through some stuff in a cart. Hers was the only station with the sign lit up. I said excuse me and was ignored as she kept sorting through the stuff in the cart. I gave her the benefit of the doubt, thinking she must not have heard me, and said excuse me again. Nothing. She kept sorting through the stuff in the cart. I said it a little louder and without looking at me she says she'll be with me in a minute. She was VERY obviously irritated by my presence and made it abundantly clear that I was inconveniencing her by needing assistance. I called and spoke to a manager and she didn't seem surprised or bothered by what had happened. I guess that's just the level of service this Ralph's location provides. read more

First of all, the people that work here have always been kind and helpful. Always. Been shopping here for 10 years. What prompted me to write this review was my recent visit when I heard on the intercom that Ralphs requires masks from both workers and customers. That is fantastic. The overpriced, over trendy Whole Foods allows entitled evil scum to walk around maskless. My only ask of Ralphs is to offer more organic options and maybe have a health food section. There aren't too many choices of grocery stores in this part of Malibu. I'm aware of this Ralphs & only one other grocery in the immediate area....Pacific Coast Greens on PCH (and although they offer a lot of organic selections, it's a relatively small store). I don't often find myself in Ralphs or any other mainstream grocery. I'm either at Whole Foods or eating out. I go to Ralphs, Vons or Albertsons for paper products and cat food. But yesterday I happened into this Ralphs location to grab a bottle of water. Earlier in the day I had been at the Ralphs in Pacific Palisades and was thinking it's the nicest one I've ever seen. The Malibu Ralphs has it beat, however. I marveled at the freshness and the big variety of stuff on the cold food bars. And it was mid-day, not like they just put it out first thing in the morning. And the bathroom was spotless, perhaps the cleanest public potty I ever saw. Celebs are a dime a dozen in Malibu shopping districts, so I gotta confess I was glancing around to see who I could spot.....haha.... (in the store, not the bathroom, I mean). Ralphs is in the Malibu Colony Plaza (just down the street from Malibu Country Mart shopping center http://www.yelp.com/biz/malibu-country-mart-malibu#hrid:_YxQXkeEEysmrXnJnO_k6A), which is filled with upscale shops..... and this Ralphs is doing its best to keep up. I was very tempted to have my lunch right there. Unlike Malibu Country Mart though, where parking is hellish on weekends, parking is always easy at Malibu Colony Plaza. Ralphs was crowded but the parking lot is so huge that the large amount of shoppers barely put a dent in the amount of available spaces. I also always appreciate the pretty trees in this parking lot! It makes a big diff to be able to snag a spot in the shade. Thanks to Ralphs for a store that's a class act in almost every regard. When you go organic I'll add that 5th star. read more

Ralph's is a chain supermarket. There is no real difference in products here than anywhere else in Socal. The big draw to this Ralphs is there are very few supermarkets in Malibu, so that gives it an extra star. 4 stars' Note: The bathroom is in the back center up a flight of stairs. There's a note on the door asking not to bring carts into the bathroom. Who the hell would drag a card up a flight of stairs? I want to see that video. read more

HORRIBLE AND EXTREMELY DISRESPECTFUL STAFF. I don't often write reviews but wow, I have never been treated so poorly in a customer service experience. I am 23 years old, wanted to purchase groceries and decided to pick up a bottle of wine for the evening. The cashier refused to sell me the wine, accused me of being under age, and told me that "my piece of shit fake ID wasn't going to work, nice try". I confronted the manager who then further questioned me and said if his employees would not sell me alcohol it was not his fault. One of the men at the registers went on to accuse me of being an undercover cop and said that I wasn't worth the trouble. Long story short I had to bring my passport the next time I wanted to purchase alcohol, despite them scanning and knowing my license was real. I will start this review off with. I've been coming here since I was a kid before it was even Ralphs market. With that said moving on to the review. Upon walking in it's nice, updated and inviting. They recently went through a remodel and it went very well. Things may have moved around but that's expected and it was for the better. The selection is VERY large and if they don't have something you can just ask for it to be ordered. I've done this numerous times. Once they order something I then find it on the shelf stocked. The deli has a large selection brand of Boar's head. Along with pre-made foods for quick bites. The deli is clean and the staff is professional and very knowledgeable about the options and selections they have. The Bakery. The bakery obviously is always best in the morning. They have a large selection of everything from bagels, donuts to pastries. I've also had custom ice cream cakes made for Birthdays and they've always done a fantastic job. The Meat/Seafood department. I buy A LOT of meats and seafood regularly. The selection is great and the deals/sales they have are different each week. I cook a lot and can say the quality is good from here. The staff especially is awesome in this department. VERY helpful and professional. The produce selection is great. VERY large organic section as well. Much bigger than most Ralph's markets I've been to. I've dealt with many employees here and all of the management. I can say that this store is ran properly. And it stays true to the Malibu local feel and environment. Overall I would highly recommend this store as your go to place for grocery's in Malibu. The staff is outstanding and the selections are above and beyond. And like I said if they don't have something, they'll get it for you. And the next time your there it'll be stocked on the shelf. read more

Unbelievably, the Ralphs chain of stores do not accept Apple Pay at any of their locations, forcing me to actually bring a wallet into the store like it's 2015. Smaller and less selection than most Gelson's stores, I only go to the Malibu location out of convenience occasionally. read more
