This Ralphs is cheap! For some reason it seems like its cheaper than other stores. Every time I go in there, they're having sales on great items, such as Gatorade, Luna bars, and granola. the store in and of itself is good i love the hours but i used to get deli sandwiches which i love they do a great job but one of the workers told me once that the salad buffet gets a lot of homeless ppl who just eat straight from it. I came here one time visiting San Diego two years ago. The service was super friendly and the products pretty good.

It is your typical grocery store. There is nothing bad about the place, and nothing great. They do have a good bakery and a very good produce section. It is also in a good location near SDSU, I would recommend this place over the Vons on El Cajon. This is a better store. read more

What happened to being polite in the customer service field? I used to like this location but recently I'd rather spend my money at Walmart neighborhood market. The staff is unfriendly and rude. They make you feel like a thief! Since it's location is close to SDSU my assumption is there's a lot of theft since the employee's are watching you with their beady little eyes at every turn. This used to be my favorite grocery store. I really loved it. Now, after my two outings after the shut in, I won't be going back. Place was cleaned out, but I give them slack for being a holiday. Some nutty kid comes barrelling down the aisle with a bunch of empty black bins then rides my ass a foot behind me like I'm in his way. There's only like six other customers in the store, not hard to get around me but he wanted me to move so I had to turn down another aisle. Did the same thing when I encountered him on the other side of the store. Check out clerk named Areli or Arelli took her good old time packing and chatting with handsome young man in front of me. That's fine. My turn, she leaves my stuff on the belt right in front of her. Doesn't even send it to the end. I have to pack it with my bag on the card scanner as that was the only way to reach it while she cheerfully packed the guy behind me a foot away. He had like four things and there was no one behind him. I don't know what's going on there, but I'll pay more money not to be treated like crap. read more

to be honest their produce doesn't usually stand out to me but i always get the grapes and avocados there. they have almost everything and i like their big selection of wines. i finally found a pistachio ice cream there and was so excited! their staff is really great, since i live across the street i am there a lot and have never had a bad experience with the staff. overall, kinda overpriced for not the best stuff produce-wise and not always the freshest. but have everything else you'd ever need that is packaged etc and the staff is so nice. read more

Fairly good selection of organic and natural products, and carries sone local craft beers. Was very surprised to find antibiotic free bison, and fresh organic herbs! Pricy compared to the commissary, but a lifesaver when I don't have the time to make the drive down to the base. Also, they always have sales on supplements/vitamins and larabars! read more

There's not really anything wrong with this location, I just don't like Ralphs because it's expensive. I won't go there unless I have coupons or gift certificates. We went last night and got $102 worth of food but only paid $30 out of pocket after their store discounts and a $40 gift certificate. They're not my kind of store, but it's a clean well maintained place. It's not in the best location simply because if you turn out the wrong exit, you have to drive a half mile to turn around just to make a left turn. read more

This is a nice store with friendly staff. The prices are what you'd expect at a Ralph's, with some good specials. They have everything you need, all the time. My only problem with this store is that there is ALWAYS someone out front wanting to bug you for something. I'm ok with the Salvation Army kettle or girl scouts, but there is all kinds of people out there asking for whatever, every single time I go there. If given an opening, the checker (the 1 older lady) will let you know how miserable she is. As long as you are collecting a paycheck it becomes an option to work here (like it or not). I try to not make eye contact, eliminate all chit-chat, just get my stuff and get out. I like the pricing and product availability here compared to other markets. read more

One of the worst grocery stores in San Diego. If you like Ralph's then go to the one in fashion valley. On Montezuma they have rotten salad fixings at their salad bar, and the customer service is terrible. Don't even try self check out. It takes less time to check out with a long line at regular lanes. Forget about it if you need someone to come help you. Scan a simple coupon and the whole system stops and makes you wait for the nonexistent employee. I keep kicking myself because I keep walking into this place and keep walking out empty-handed. But I guess if you like brown rotten lettuce this is the place for you! read more

Very clean and refreshing. I have not met an employee in the store that didn't say hello and ask me if I needed help with something. It's very well stocked and Leo in the meat department is outstanding. It's a great place to do your grocery shopping. read more

I have to comment my experience last night. I came to check out a few things here, and although I found all my grocery items just fine, I was on the hunt for poster paint for Halloween projects. The last time I came I found plenty of paint for a yard sale but this time, there wasn't any stocked at all, except for another bottle of blue. I was a little disappointed to say the least. They do stock up on general office supplies, poster board and other kidsy type painting project stuff, but were lacking in actual paint. This just shows while the stock other sections well they skip over other sections entirely. Seems lazy to me. For it being back to school month you'd think this section would be totally stocked. Another issue I had was that there were hoards of people waiting in 3 lines, roughly about 40 of us (some of us were holding heavy items) and no staff opened up another check out. This lately seems to be a common problem at this Ralphs. It was 7pm, and tons of people enter the store at the same time, you'd think that would be a sign that maybe more check outs need to open up even for the 15-30 minutes shoppers are roaming around the store. There were plenty of staff just standing around the customer service kiosk, so it's not like they were understaffed. The convenience factor suffered this trip. read more

This store is gross and dirty. The deli staff is underwhelming. Today, after waiting 8 minutes for someone to come out and help, I gave up. From now on I will stick with Trader Joes. The automated check out machines are always a problem. read more

If I could give it 0 stars I would. If any of their items are on sale they're probably just trying to get rid of it cause it's bad, especially the meat. I had to return pork and beef a total of 5 times, and I store them properly and usually buy it to use it the day of. Don't trust them. read more

I had the best service by Ted. It was my birthday and I wanted to stop in the bakery to get myself a cupcake for my birthday cake. There wasn't much to choose from and the bakery lady went home sick so they called a gentleman by the name Ted to help. He search all over to find the kind I wanted and had no luck. Seeing that I was kind of disappointed, he offered to go out of his way and make me the one I really wanted. I was so pleased with his customer service and attentiveness to help me for such a small thing. There should be more people like him, it really made my day, and I will definitely be going back!! read more

This is a complaint about Ralph's Store 220 at Montezuma. At 12pm on 10/28/15 I went to the deli to buy fried chicken and macaroni salad for lunch. I go to that deli nearly 3x a week. I asked the server if they had some raisins for the macaroni salad, she pointed to the salad bar. I proceeded to sprinkle a little bit, probably no more than 10-15 pieces. All of a sudden I was approached by a female name Martha De Lopez. She loudly said "What is that?" I said raisins. I thought she just didn't know. She then started rudely talking to me saying, "What are you doing? You know you have to get that macaroni salad re-weighed!" I asked if she was kidding since I don't think that a few sprinkles will make much of a difference. "No this is a $7.99 salad bar." Embarrassed I went back to the deli and had them re-weigh the one scoop of macaroni salad that now had 10 pieces of raisins added. Even the server was looking at me as if in surprise. But Martha wasn't done, she followed me and stood right near me as if to make sure I re-weighed my one scoop. I told her she is very rude and she shouldn't talk to customers in a condescending manner. I told her I am a loyal customer and I go there everyday. She snapped "Oh so you do that everyday?" - as if to say I steal something everyday and not pay for it. And again reminded me it's a $7.99 salad bar. In disgust, I returned the chicken and the macaroni salad and looked for a store manager. I spoke with Lex who apologized that Martha is new to the store. It told him that is not an excuse. All the more she she take time to know who the loyal patrons are. He also said he told her to watch out for homeless people who come in to get their napkins and other things without paying. I then felt profiled by Martha after he said that . I asked Lex if I looked homeless? And even if I were she would have no right to belittle people. After all that, I walked out without Lex correcting the situation by offering me to still buy lunch. I walked out empty-handed, hungry and very upset from being mistreated. In the last 4 years I've worked in that area I have always bought breakfast and lunch there. I like the employees. Most of them see me often. I laugh with them. Even today the deli person offered me a free sample of their salami. I wonder if Martha saw that if I would have been asked to pay. At 1pm I called customer service and complained. I was hungry and upset. I couldn't eat from the experience. Martha doesn't deserve to work there. That is a store full of courteous employees. I wonder how many other customers she's pissed of that never came forward. I will no longer eat there. I will ask my co-workers to no longer buy our potluck items there and instead now got to Walmart nearby. I will also post my experience on Yelp and my social media sites. Martha doesn't deserve to carry the Ralph's name on her. Horrible just horrible. You just lost a loyal customer. I destroyed my Ralph's card. read more

I love Ralph's in general... But this one seems to go the extra mile to satisfy its' customers. They always open another checkout when there's more than 2 people in a line. When my kids are screaming bloody murder they offer to go get balloons. It's clean, people are friendly and competant and lucky for me, it 's right down the street. I have never shopped at Ralphs I would always go to food 4 less, Vons, CVS and so on. I stopped by this store on Sunday afternoon I got my item I needed and went to self-checkout. 1st the lady that was working on self-checkout looked mad I went to do my purchase and asked for help didn't have my card so I asked if I could put my phone number instead she said yes so I did so. When I tried to scan my Products the machine wasn't working. So I asked for help she looked at me all mad and she said just go to another register I was embarrassed I had my daughter with me so I just went to a different lane. There I was in a new lane and saw that the cashier was on the phone with the other lady that had a bad attitude it seemed like they were talking about me. I have never felt so uncomfortable in my life this cashier also had an attitude. I just decided to leave everything and walk out. This was the 1st time and last time I ever go to this store. Love this store, unfortunately it's a long distance from where I live. The store is clean, well stocked and full of wonderful non grocery things, ie, books, greeting cards, gift items etc. I got some yummy pastries and jello that I can't find in my Von's. The only downside is that they don't carry Blue Bunny ice cream. I will be back on Sunday when State college is not is session. Also the checker was nice and gave me a discount even without a Ralph's card, another BIG plus. read more

This particular location is within the radius (by miles) o0f several grocery store options so its competitive pricing definitely. Parking is ample although it has its moments of being filled and you end up parking on outer perimeter. The store exterior, including parking area, is typically very clean. Store interior is always clean, well organized and shelves are well stocked. One downside side is the meat selection is limited, most likely as this store is shopped by college students from SDSU. You can always find your beef, chicken, pork, fish, etc., its the cut of meat ghzg ix x zf d. i ave been tying out recipes for crock pot cooking and the roasts are few and far between. Staff is plentiful and customer oriented. Professional and helpful. I have not experienced any negativity hee with staff, management or other customers, for that matter. Another plus, the shopping carts WORK AND STEER WELL!. Prices are mostly reasonable. some items are pricey,and either you biuy it, or go elsewhere for a second trip. Saves money to check for sales and to buy their Kroger brand when possible. Actually their brand is pretty good! Get the Ralph's store card and you get additional discounts and savings. Yes, you pay for your bags; however, bring your own is helpful. I use cloth ones so I can wash them easily and reuse. Definitely a great store to shop in. read more

Uggg!! I really hate to say this because I used to love Ralph's so much. As my last post says I go in there all the time. Lately its been pretty bad. I usually go in at about 9am and its hard to get around. I understand that they are stocking for the day but is it necessary to have boxes in almost every isle? Not only is it a trip hazard but its very annoying to try navigating a shopping cart down those isles with boxes. My last and final straw was recently with the bakery. There is a specific person at the bakery (not saying any names) who is sometimes nice and sometimes rude. Well this past week I went to grab a 12 peice of chicken for dinner. The same lady at the bakery told me that she didnt have enough chicken so I asked her how long it would be, she said oh about 20 minutes. Then when I told her I would wait she said ohh its going to be about 1/2 hour or longer because I cant stop what I'm doing right now. She was very rude about it. Thats it, I'm done, I will never go to the bakery there again!! read more

The baker gave me a cake fast. I got a half galon of ice cream. The chek out lines were all 5 deep so I went to the auto check and it all went well until the robotic message said "put your stuff in your basket" which I did then it said "put it back on the counter" {an unending loop could not complete check out} so then I could not clear the transaction .. hit call attendant but there was no attendant ...none ofth human checkers would help to clear the transaction ,, no manager present .. nobody would help clear the automatic check out .. finally one lady came and cleared it. Then I went to the human checker and she knew less than a floor tiel. She scanned two items (cake and ice cream) and then SHE could not complete a debit card .. we tried ghree times and every time the machine ended the transaction when I did not want cash back (she said she did not know how to complete the transaction) I asked her to clear th transaction and she said it was clear. So they were unable to sell a $18 cake and $5 ice cream .. because their equipment does not work and their employees do not know how to make it work. Ralphs has a dismal future if they cannot sell their wares. read more
