We ordered take-out in a Thursday night. We know the difference between MILD and MEDIUM broth as we have visited the Vacaville and Concord locations. We were excited there was a Vallejo location as we LOVE Ramen. We are disappointed. We ordered MILD but got SPICY. Our soup labels stated MILD but the broth was definitely not. Not sure if the staff was paying attention to getting the orders right. Because we ordered take-out, there was no way for us to let the staff rectify the issue. Also, do not use Black Permanent Markers to label the broth lids. The heat on the plastic lids and steam from the broth can get the black ink to transfer on your fingers. We really enjoyed the Tonkotsu ramen and the black garlic ramen which were served piping hot with quality ingredients. Also had the chicken karaage which was very tasty with the dipping sauce. A classic option with a modernistic feel. Who doesn't love a good ramen? And I don't mean the packaged ones you find in grocery stores. I had first experienced Ramen 101 in Concord, and when I heard one was to open in Vallejo, I got excited. Just tried it out today, and got the same black garlic ramen that I got in Concord, just to compare. Rest assured, the quality you get at this location is what you are going to expect at the other locations. Portion was incredibly generous, ingredients fresh, and everything perfectly cooked. Since it is grand opening time, lines were nonexistent, but I expect that to change in the very near future. Once this business gets up and rolling in the North Bay community, I will have to return to give a more detailed and honest review on the other aspects, including but not limited to, ambiance, wait time, cleanliness, and parking. In the meantime, enjoy a great assortment of different ramens at very reasonably prices ($15-$18 range). Oh, and there's a nice selection of Hawaiian BBQ and Japanese street food options! I have been told these are to die for and much better quality than you can expect at L&L Hawaiian BBQ. read more

Did on extra spicy which was honestly about the same as the standard spicy level I got last time for the vegetable one. We didn't even finish the tofu. Only half. Still a fan of the vegetable ramen and fried gyoza but more hesitant to try other things. Lowered my review by one star.... OH BUT THEY UPGRADED to sauce cups not packets (see below for previous review).... So that's better this time. Also the service is super fast!]]] - - - Original review below: I'm happy. Will come again. I had the vegetarian ramen + spicy level 3. Not super spicy but good. The gyoza are deep fried but good. It was pretty packed when we got there. My only weird complaint is.... First time stopping by and I was craving Ramen. So I went in. Very chill night, and wasn't busy. I got the Black Garlic Ramen, Lumpia, and 2 drinks. Total $30+ before tip. Alright let's see if this is worth $30. Lumpia comes first and I'll give it a 8/10. I like lumpia but it could've been better. No worries tho! I'm here for the Ramen! It finally comes and I'm sorry but I have to give it 4/10. Taste wise it wasn't there, no seasoning/flavor. I mostly ate "around" it. The pork, bamboo shoots, corn. Even the garlic was off. I was highly disappointed and probably will be making that drive to Oakland not only for Tacos but for Ramen as well. read more

Grilled squid delish! Crab ragoon so full of filling! Lumpia was good but I think it needed to be cooked just a little longer. Seafood ramen was so filling to the tummy with all the goodies! I have visited Ramen 101 in the East Bay, and I am glad one is open this side of the bridge closer to home...NO TOLL! Although that deserves 5 stars on its own, this location is up there with the consistency of the others. Plus, Hawaiian BBQ! Since my last visit to a Ramen 101 location, I have turned Vegetarian. The vegetarian ramen did not make me miss my usual Black Garlic Ramen. Generous assortment of toppings and flavorful broth base. When I first walked in, the first things that hit me were the fully occupied tables and that signature Hawaiian BBQ smell that almost made me break by veggie diet...ALMOST. Despite how busy it was, the staff was efficient and kept the place tidy. Who knows, I may visit again and submit to the cravings to devour the full menu, but for now, I'm happy that the veggie options don't disappoint! read more

First time trying this place, we ordered black garlic ramen, lumpia, and bbq mix plate. First of all, the lumpia is not cooked properly, i took a bite and noticed the inside is pink, i thought it was juicy at first, but when i checked, it was raw! I was refunded for that though. The bbq mix plate that my husband ordered also needed more cooking, it just not cooked right, he didnt even finished it Then lastly, the black garlic ramen, it is good and flavorful but the broth was not that hot enough that only after having some few sips, it is already warm. This place was alright. Food was tasty, but a little confusing when ordering on line. I ordered the miso ramen, among other things. On line, the menu describes what the ramen consists of. But when you get to ordering the actual item, it starts asking you if you want what I thought were the basics. My assumption was them asking you if you wanted additional proteins & whatever else was supposed to come which it. I declined thinking I didn't want any additional basics. (Does that make sense?). Anyway, to make a long story short, my miso ramen consisted of nothing more than a tasty miso broth & noodles. Very disappointing. I'm hoping they just screwed up on my order vs nickeling & dining over what is supposed to be included in the ramen. I'm willing to give them another try later on. It's always nice to have options, and Ramen 101 is a great addition to Vallejo so far. After making our order, my group and I selected our table where packaged chopsticks and forks are already provided (similar to how some Pho restaurants provide their utensils in containers). Within a minute or so after sitting down, our food was served! For today, we ordered Crab Rangoons, Tonkatsu ramen (mild heat), Black Garlic ramen (medium heat), and a plate of Hawaiian Bbq chicken. The Crab Rangoons are worth it--the wrapper is light and crispy and there's plenty of filling. Both of the ramen bowls were delicious. They provide enough noodles and toppings to enjoy. Sadly, I didn't get a picture of the black garlic ramen and the BBQ chicken, but I can assure you that they both looked and tasted amazing. The only thing that bothered me was that the pork slices in my ramen were slightly cold, but I just tucked them into the broth for a bit and they were good to go. This has been our go yo take out. I feel like it is a healthier option than most take out. We both get the chicken ramen. My husband loves the egg so I order him an extra. I'm obsessed by their bamboo shoots. I didn't realize fresh bamboo shoots could be so good. I'll forever be disappointed by the canned kind you get in most Chinese food. Neither of us get the mushrooms. My husband usually loves mushrooms but finds these slimy. I like that they have so many levels of spiciness so you get just what you want. I like to get extra noodles for a couple bucks and then have leftovers the next day since they give so much broth. I like to get fried garlic which are whole cloves. I crush them up and add them to the broth. If we are really hungry, we get lumpia to share. read more

Not sure what is going with Ramen 101. They must have changed their noodles bec that was the hardest noodle I had. It looks like this was purchase in Seafood City cold box shelf. The noodles were awful. This is not how ramen to look like when you are serving it in a restaurant and charge an arm and a leg for it. The quality should be better than a freeze dried ramen cup a noodle. I cannot beñievebI paid money for this low quality of noodles. The porl was hard over cooked. Hoping that me and my family can find a decent Ramen House. Unfortunately this wasn't it. First off I just wanted to say the staff are super friendly and helpful. And that was the high light of the evening. The Ramen was not awful but not good. Both my son's ordered the pork rib Ramen spicy. They love pork ribs but the way it was flavored left a bad taste in there mouth. I didn't believe it til I took a bite and understood why they stop eating it. Mine wasn't as bad as theirs but was nothing special. And my wife barely touched her sea food ramen. The only thing that was good was the appetizers. The fried oysters and the Crab Rangoon were tasty. I can literally put together a better Ramen bowl at home compared to what they are serving. We love coming here for lunch and dinner their food is delicious. Today me and my wife came for lunch and I had Toko ramen and she had the teriyaki chicken which were delicious. I saw the reviews and almost didn't stop by but I'm glad I did. The prices are amazing and taking that into consideration I really enjoyed the food. You can't compare this ramen to a $30 plate of ramen because they are at different price points. But for the price this is a steal! I got the seafood ramen (spicy) & the tonkotsu ramen (spicy) with the squid legs as an appetizer. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. I absolutely loved the squid legs and my ramen was delicious and a very good sized portion. I will definitely be back next time I am in the area! read more

One of the best Ramen places I have tried in the U.S. In my opinion the black garlic ramen was the best I have had in California.

My go to ramen for Vallejo when the urge hits. It's fast and does it job . Not the best ramen I have tasted and customer service is a bit lacking for me because anytime I got to the shop the cashiers are always chatting among themselves which is not a good sign . I ordered the chicken ramen with vegetarian broth and extra spicy, but on the side, (sharing with a toddler). The staff was attentive and very friendly, I really appreciated the great service. One of the ladies even came over to ask if I needed a little bowl for my daughter without being prompted. The ramen was DELICIOUS, only complaint is the 6 minute egg, definitely went over 6 so no yolk which is one of my favorite parts of the ramen experience.
