When I got home I noticed my spicy pork ramen had a boiled egg on the side that looked lIke it has been cooked a couple months ago. The egg white was very gray and I've never seen the yolk of an egg look such a weird yellow. That made me not trust their black mushrooms, so I pulled them out, too. This is actually the best ramen I've eaten really! My first try was the appetizer which is gyoza and takoyaki, the gyoza with the sauce got the greatest combo and the takoyaki was the perfect bite but yet so piping hot! My first try was the spicy miss ramen, warning the spicy ramen is actually spicy! I tried the broth before mixing my ramen and holy moly, it beats ALL the ramen I've tried! My fiance got the Tsukemen and he absolutely loved it, the broth was thick and porky for him and the noodles are thick! Like it's not udon thick! My sister also states her food wasn't that great. The waiter only checked on us once and gave us warm water on a 90 degree day. The overall visit was a disappointment in comparison to the others. I admit that I was not wowed by Ramen Hakata. My favorite ramen is black tonkotsu and I just didn't see it in the menu (maybe I should have asked), so I ordered the Chashu ramen and the broth just wasn't rich enough for me. I asked for garlic oil and that helped the taste some but it just wasn't the same. The other thing that I felt was not up to par is that the noodles were under-cooked... I like my noodles more tender than what I had at Hakata. One good feature is that they offer two sizes of Ramen: regular and large - this is good in case you want more or less food. I may or may not visit Ramen Hakata again, especially when there are other great ramen places around. If I visit again I'd ask to see if they can prepare me black tonkotsu. read more

I first came here in August 2014, and I remembered it wasn't all that. My sister has ramen cravings often so she really wanted me to go with her. I was very hesitant on going here but she said the quality has increased since it first opened, so I wanted to give it another shot. On my first visit, I got the hakata ramen, which wasn't that good to me. However, I tried some of my friend's garlic ramen and I really liked that one. Fast forwarding to a year later, I came here for the second time on a Thursday during lunch. It was packed! We had to sign in on this piece of paper. I saw that there were 5 parties ahead of us, but it didn't take long to get a table at all. After being seated, we ordered our drinks, appetizer (takoyaki), and ramen all together. I decided to get the garlic ramen because I remembered that I liked it from a year ago, and my sister got the hakata ramen. Our appetizer came out super fast, the ramen on the other hand, not so much... I enjoyed the takoyaki, but at one dollar a piece, I'm not sure if it's worth the price. The garlic ramen was TOO garlic-y. I love garlic stuff, but it was way too overpowering. I had to take out all the garlic flakes. The first couple bites were good, but it got tiring real fast. First Dallas meal of 2018 and it was a great choice! We came here after I flew back from California and it was cold and needed something to warm up. Walked into a nice little cozy almost-like foreign place with a Japanese atmosphere to it. This place did not disappoint at all. We order two different appetizers (fried octopus and fried potatoes) both were really good and fresh, the octopus was perfectly cooked. Then our entree came out, for the entree I ordered the spicy miso and my friend ordered the spicy ramen with additional add of the fried chicken-- it is a must for the fried chicken. The price might be a bit on the pricy end, but I say it's worth the quality of the food. I would recommend this place if you want ramen or want to give something new a try. Service was great also! Delicious food! I'm from out of state, but the past two times I've traveled this way I've been sure to stop by for a bowl of ramen! Both times I've gotten the gyoza and tonkatsu ramen, which are both great. The gyoza comes with five pieces and a dipping sauce. The ramen has pork based broth, noodles, corn, black mushrooms, bean sprouts, chives, an egg and a slice of pork chashu. The gyoza appetizer is my favorite thing on the menu! They're cooked just enough to lightly brown the bottom and the inside is lovely. The best part is the sauce that comes with it- Yum! The broth is a little weak for my taste, but still has a really nice flavor. The noodles and toppings are great, (I don't like black mushrooms but that's a personal preference). The egg is too overdone for my liking, as somebody else said it's almost a hard boiled egg. The chashu is perfect- I always get an extra slice. The meat is so tender and juicy, it's full of flavor. This place has the best ramen! I got the spicy tonkotsu ramen in regular and it was a big bowl. Between regular and large, I had trouble finishing the regular size. The service was amazing and our server was very friendly. We were seated almost immediately when we walked in and our appetizers and main dish came out in less than 15 minutes. This is my third visit with the previous two experiences being favorable. This time I stopped in for lunch and had spicy miso ramen. The flavors were wonderful and I enjoyed every bite except for the last one. There was something hard that shouldn't have been there. I carefully spit it in to the bowl to see that it was a nickel sized piece of glass. Fortunately it had sunk to the bottom of the bowl and I think it was the only piece. I have been coming to this location for years now, and never have I been treated so rudely as I was tonight. I called the location and placed an order to go. When I got home with my order, it was the incorrect ramen. I called and simply asked for a refund of the difference, since the ramen I ordered was $17.00 and the one I received was $12.00. The lady over the phone started laughing at me while asking for this request! I understand it's only $5, but it's the principle of it all. How dare her laugh over the phone! Then, when she rudely hung up the phone, I tried to call back to receive her name and a confirmation number for my refund. Guess what? They blocked my number! I'm completely taken aback. I was nice, civil, and cordial on the phone. I was not as rude to her as she was to me. When I heard her laughing at me, I made no rude or snide remarks back. The chicken was not very juicy and the breading was pretty tough. It lacked depth of flavor and it seemed more like popcorn chicken. As for the shoyu ramen, the broth was average and their spicy sauce wasn't as spicy as I would've hoped. The pork was on the dry side, and the egg didn't have too much flavor either. The broth did make me feel very thirsty and had a lingering taste in my mouth. Overall, this ramen shop has excellent service and okay food. Hakata ramen is a rank above Hanabi - another chain ramen restaurant. The ramen was quality but not the best I've had before. Noodles were very good and the broth was alright. Also had the Chasu buns which were very overpriced for 2 buns with one sliver of pork, mayo and iceberg lettuce. (I believe it was 5 dollars or 5.50 for them) I also had the Katsu don which was alright. The pork was a little dry and the rice was pretty soggy towards the bottom of the bowl. The service was good, and so was the atmosphere. I dont think I'll be coming back here because the food was all together a solid 6/10.
