Very good service, but today's visit for the food- not so great. It wasn't bad, I just say it was average. It was our second trip and I do want to try once more so I can have the birria tacos! Cute shop, well attended. Food to me so far average. Super staff!

I wanted my sister to try Ramona's with me and she absolutely loved it. I had the Birria Ramen that came with 2 Birria tacos on the side that was absolutely delicious and my sister had the Tamale Plate which she absolutely devoured. The service is always amazing and super quick and the restaurant has ample seating. We will definitely be back

My friend and I came for a Sunday brunch and both liked Ramona's Mexican Café. My initial take after this first visit is that it's solidly good - what the heck, what I found today was _excellent_ (While I started this as a four-star, after writing my review and reliving how well everything went, I'm bumping my review all the way up). Noteworthy is that everyone appears to know about Ramona's already: the place was PACKED when I arrived at 1115 on a Sunday. I was able to snag a small table (it's seat-yourself) and was immediately presented with a menu and asked about drinks by a series of hustling staffers. All charming, by the way, utterly without any "It's not my area/job" attitude - throughout our visit, everyone from the managers to the busser to our waitress to other waitresses always seemed engaged in doing whatever was necessary to make sure things are going as we'd like. While doing the same for dozens of other customers. Furthermore, the bathroom was clean even during this Sunday crush. Top-tier job by management - and, please note the outgoing manager himself stopped by our table a couple times to check on us. Wow. We were not rushed and were continually offered drink refills and even go-cups. The menu (see attached photos) was pretty varied and (it should be noted) NOT New Mexican. Nice to see a breakfast/brunch/lunch place that's this professional doing something other than the ordinary. My friend got a waffle with eggs and ham; I got the enchiladas montadas with chorizo, eggs and both red and green chiles (and the manager asked whether we'd like a little more chile and brought us a small bowl of each - at no charge - yay). My food was delicious and filling and a great deal for today's pricing. (Note there is an additional charge for payment with a card.) My friend liked his waffle and described it as perfectly made and of the quality that made a carb splurge worthwhile. The fruit on his waffle was really nice and fresh, too. On the chiles: note that the red appears to be made from pods and is more of a Northern _Mexico_ flavor than a _Northern New Mexico_ flavor. For me, this was a bonus, as it's not something commonly encountered in the Albuquerque area. The chile colorado was a little picante, too, but not what I'd call especially so. The green chile was milder and . . . very similar to those served at Los Cuates and La Salita, if that helps. Of the two, I much preferred the red, but that's incredibly subjective and who knows whether it'll hold between different batches of chile over multiple visits. But I will be _making_ multiple visits: there are a lot of things on the menu here that I want to try.

Took visiting Granddaughter here as she was job searching. Staff were outstanding, quick to fill our order, & great advice on their menu items. As you can see from the pictures the outside/inside seating area set the atmosphere. We all three ordered the combo plates & were very happy with the food. Everything is shown in pic except the soft taco. We recommend this quite hidden gem

We came here on a laid back Thursday morning and had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and the service was super prompt. Highly recommended! Thank you to Ramona's for a great meal 4.5/5

After reading the reviews about the great service and great food, decided to finally make my way to Ramona's. Food was really good, but unfortunately, our service wasn't great. I think our server was having a bad day for some reason. Overall experience was really good and will be back and I'm sure that girl that took care of us was just having a rough day inside the restaurant was a lot bigger than expected and decorated very nicely. I recommend this part for anybody looking for a good new Mexican cuisine.

I've eaten takeout here a few times but decided to dine in with some family today. The Huevos Rancheros were really good and too large to finish. But what really elevates Ramona's from a 4 to 5 star restaurant was the service. The best service I've had around town for a casual dining spot. All of the staff was incredibly attentive and friendly from start to finish.

Excellent new place to me that opened where the old Twister's used to be. They're going ion their second year. Good, fast(ish) Mexican joint that has good food and service. The place has an open layout and is clean. Definitely eat here if you have the chance.

Very good chilie, both red and green! My wife and I had a great first experience, the waitress was very friendly and let us have a taste of the rice before ordering it as an extra side, it was very tasty and well cooked. The rest of the meal was great! I had the birria tacos which were very tasty and the consume was delicious! We will be back try something new on our next visit.

Wowza! A friend recommended Ramona's and I can't wait to tell him how great it was! Wonderful location on Jefferson and a spacious interior. Our service was awesome and the food was served fast and hot. My huevos ranchos had so many options! Hash browns, cubed or sliced potatoes, refried or whole beans, ham, bacon, chorizo, or sausage, and corn or flour tortilla. I got my eggs over medium, hash towns, whole beans, no meat with corn under and flour on the side, and green chile. Excellent! My spouse got pancakes with fruit, crispy bacon, and 2 eggs over medium. Really good! The coffee and iced tea were both good. We will return for lunch!

My husband had eggs, sausage, hash browns, and toast with an orange juice. Everything came out hot, fresh, and cooked perfectly. The eggs were just right, the hash browns had a nice crisp to them, and the portions were filling without being over the top. My iced coffee was also a great addition to breakfast. Frontier is such a classic Albuquerque spot with a casual, no-frills atmosphere and really good comfort food. We both really enjoyed our breakfast and would definitely come back!

TBH, NM's…read morefood scene was underwhelming during my time there, and it was pretty disappointing to get food from the hearth that was more mediocre than the stuff we get on the East Coast. We ate from the border crossing past El Paso all the way to Taos, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque. And I'm sure we missed a ton of great places, but that being said, the places we did try... yikes! We rolled the dice on this place. At first I was like, "Great, another place that is going to give us a premade tortilla and some bland combination of stuff in the tortilla..." Now look... this is not a Michelin-starred place, nor is it Michelin-recommended. It's not going to be a spiritual experience. It's not going to make you think differently about a taco, an enchilada, or anything else on their massive menu. But this place has heart, soul, and there's a lot of hustle. The tortillas are made fresh, right there behind the counter (i.e., you can literally watch them crank them out), and that makes a ton of difference. The food is honest, without pretense: fast and affordable. The ambiance is equally without pretense -- college kids, working-class folks, families, academics... The food was simple, spartan, and honest. No frills. Not extraordinary, but above average for the context. There is an ASTOUNDING amount of variety on the menu, and the combinations are infinite. I very much enjoyed my meal, I very much enjoyed the people-watching, and I very much enjoyed the experience. This was perhaps the best meal I had in New Mexico -- the cheapest, and the most memorable. If this place was a beer, it would be one of those local lager/pilsners that is as cheap as a Pabst/Coors/Miller but punches up way past the pretentious IPA scene. Thanks Frontier.

We took a table in the entry way, not in the main restaurant. It was a quaint spot overlooking the patio section out front of the restaurant. A server met us, took our drink order, and we placed a few appetizer orders. We got some chile con queso, and the chicharron. They initially brought out the queso in two small plastic to-go containers. I was not very thrilled with that. Then, when we polished them off, they brought out some more in a small serving dish. Why we didn't get the dish in the first place is beyond me. The queso was good, but I didn't think much of the chicharron. My husband like it though. The server did an excellent job keeping our drinks filled. We placed our order, and it wasn't too long that our orders came out. I got the combination plate, red sauce, ground beef taco. My husband thought he ordered the enchilada plate, but the chile relleno plate came out instead. He told them that was fine. The ground beef taco was so delicious. The chile relleno was pretty good, and the cheese enchiladas were okay, even though it was like they were barely there. The pinto beans, not refried beans, were also enjoyed. What really set them apart was their papas - those potatoes were soft and super flavorful. Their red sauce was spicy and flavorful. The server brought out two fresh and hot sopapillas. We poured honey on those things bite by bite. I honestly think those were the best sopapillas I've had. I also used the restroom before we left. It might need a little updating, but it was certainly clean.

Make sure you take the time to walk around and see the entire property--it is HUGE! The restaurant is very spacious, has beautiful areas for events, and is also dog-friendly. We made reservations, and I definitely recommend doing the same--you NEED them! My parents lived in ABQ for years and always thought that the atmosphere was great, but the food was so-so. However, on this instance, we all thought the food was quite good. Flavorful carne adovada, although it was a bit tough. Red chile sauce was spicy but had great flavor. The green chile sauce was hot and tasty. Posole was also good. The gold margaritas were also good - to anyone complaining about the price - at $14.50, the price is very fair considering the cost of ingredients. If you want a cheap junk margarita that is more sugar than anything else, go somewhere else! Our gripe... The place is huge and has an abundance of great places to seat guests. We had a pretty large group - 7 people celebrating a family reunion of sorts. However, they sat us right next to the bussing station that had noisy carts, dishwashers, and other distractions. It was so loud, it was hard to hear the person across the table. There were at least 10 other tables that they could have seated us at! It seems to me that this area should be used only when the restaurant is completely full. This seems to be a poor management decision rather than the fault of the servers or hosts.
