(I did that recently for a holiday dinner) To his credit it was probably 8-10 years since we had been there. I remembered it favorably and was looking forward to trying it again. Doesn't feel like it's aged particularly well. We were the only diners a bit after 6 on a Thursday. Waitress was pleasant. We started with 5 skewers. Various parts of the chicken, mostly pretty bland. Nothing was bad but nothing was noteworthy. Tried another round of 5 skewers, the one with the plum filling was a bit more enjoyable. In Yakitori 39's defense, we probably did it wrong. It's probably fun with a bunch of sake but I don't drink alcohol. The ingredients seem quality. Probably won't be rushing back.

My dining partner and I were seated rather quickly. Our server took our drink orders and came back promptly so we could order our food. The menu is pretty extensive but we ordered an assortment of skewers and a bowl of ramen to share. The skewers came out little by little; about 3 skewers per plate. They didn't come all at once so I assume they bring them out as they finish getting grilled. The chicken heart was some of the best I've ever had. I'm not sure if it's the way it was sliced, the seasoning, or just everything about it but I wish we ordered more. The tail skewer was another standout. It had so much crunch that it was almost like it was fried. The flavors were rich and varied. Each skewer cost upwards of $4 so that's a bummer. Unfortunately the ramen wasn't so great. Not terrible, but not great either. Especially not great for $19. Not my first choice for ramen. Is it the most bang for your buck? Certainly not. But I did enjoy my meal and in the end, that's what matters.

We were looking to get some ramen while in the area & found this place as an option, so we decided…read moreto give it a try. Drinks just stuck to Water, did tried to order the Lavender lemonade but they forgot it ahh in the end not that big a deal. To start we gave the Fried Shrimp a try, very good nice dipping sauce. I gave the Black garlic ramen a try great tasting broth, very good ramen. Hubby had the Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen combo with the fried chicken, very good as well, good chicken nice & crispy. Small place, simple decor , service was not bad & decent prices we enjoyed our ramen.

But then the total came out to $29 after tax?? Apparently I got charged an extra $3 for the beef?? Then the way they package the food could be improved. So there was a container with the broth, and a smaller inner container holding the other ingredients. It was a little inconvenient to get out, but once I did, I dumped it into the broth. But the noodles were on the bottom, meaning they were on top after the flip. So I was stuck just eating my way through the noodles before I reached everything else, and it was all in a big block, so it took a while to soften and loosen up. Also the container was kinda tall, so it was awkward to get the fork in there. Anyway, the food itself was good. The broth had a lot of flavor. Beef was fine, but could've been browned more. Veggie dumplings were awesome, and the lychee boba was obviously delicious.
