I would like to highly recommend this Public Storage to anyone looking for a place. This Rancho Bernardo property is clean, well-maintained, and the app is very helpful. But the BIG plus is the staff. They are all very helpful. Jon was the one who helped me to check into my unit and he was fantastic. Not only was he knowledgeable, but he was super helpful and insightful to me. He went above and beyond to make sure I made a well informed decision and that I didn't rent more than I needed. We rented a storage unit here from 2020-2025. When we moved our belongings out, we discovered severe water damage in the back of the unit that left four of our mattresses in the unit ruined. We paid rent faithfully for nearly 5 years. The facility has refused to replace the mattresses and also required us to handle the removal of the mattresses that had mold. We have filed a complaint with the BBB and plan to file a lawsuit. This is unacceptable, and I hope it does not happen to anyone else. Do not store your belongings here. The facility is not capable of protecting against the wet weather. read more

If you told me yesterday morning that I would be having some of my stuff in storage already or that I would be writing storage review this morning, I would say - VERY UNLIKELY. Yet, here I am. And HAPPY to do it. ...It occurred to me that i really need to get stuff out the house to enjoy more space. It's been over two decades since I had stuff in storage, so I felt intimidated by the process, if I'm honest. ...I looked up self-storage on Google maps and saw RB self-storage was the closest. I called and Norm picked up and helped me figure out size I needed for what I had, available storage units, and cost. He suggested to do everything online if I wanted to save some money, but definitely call if I had any questions. ...i stopped by storage same day to get thing going, Norm showed me available unit, I got a lock (thank you!), got code to enter the property and even had time to make one trip to get some stuff in. ...storage open every day (including holidays) until 7.30pm ! Great storage place! Renting the unit was easy and all done online, I just paid, showed up with my lock and stuff and moved in. Anytime I have ever had a question, I was able to just email the office and get a reply back within 10-20 minutes max. Everyone in the office is extremely helpful. Location is out of the way and easy to get to. Units and area around units are kept clean. All in all, I had a very positive experience storing with Rancho Bernardo Self Storage and would recommend to anyone, especially if you like drive-up units (although they have indoor units as well). read more

My experience has been all positive. Nice, competent people...a very clean and well-maintained property...a unit door that is easily lifted, and a dry safe space for my belongings. The employees here are always nice and helpful. Been coming here for the last 18 months (and onwards) very reasonable and easy access to the facilities, they allow you to enter the property a couple of hours after they close the main office. If you have an RV or food truck, they have some space for you to rent out. Always good to know for the future. read more

tip: look for specials online current specials are $16 for the first month; best thing to do is if you only need it for a month, pick a large unit to make sure all you things fit in there. downside is the moving truck rental is only available to move things in, can't use it to move things out (most storage places do this). read more

From start to finish the process was informative, efficient, and no bs trying to sell you on units that I didn't need. We rented a 10x20 and we filled it to the max. Great price and discount for military. We used their moving truck to move our HHG in and it was big enough for almost 5,000lbs of our stuff. The best self storage experience in my life! If you are reading this review, you were fortunate enough to consider RB Self Storage. You may now stop your search. As another reviewer pointed out, the ladies in the front office couldn't be nicer and John the facilities guy keeps the place in tip top shape. Almost all of the units are roll-up door direct access, no hallways (a few units have a short hallway) or elevators to worry about! They offer discounts if you are student, military, etc. They have a free moving truck (first 50 miles) for moving stuff in. It worked great when I used it, it was a great help. The facility is super secure, there is the usual gate with passcode, security cameras, and they have motion detectors all over the place which triggers an alarm and summons security if anything is detected after hours. The facility is superbly clean and tidy. The units themselves are in great shape internally. They offer automatic debit services, and closing my unit out took 5 minutes. Price wise I found them to be competitive for decently rated storage facilities. If you've read other reviews from poorly rated storage places or had a bad experience yourself, just remember you get what you pay for. Even if RBSS is $10 more a month or so, do you really want to deal with a nightmare to save yourself $20-$30 a month? read more

Not happy with the current management and I've been through several management changes with this place. Been a customer there 7-8 years and I've spent over $12,000 in storage when I needed to pay for a few extra days due to selling an RV -they DEMANDED an entire month without any consideration for the unused days - let alone 8 YEARS a loyal customer. I don't know what world they live in but its not one that values loyalty or repeat customer business. I wasn't asking for anything for free, but now I am giving out free advice...........go elsewhere. read more

The staff and facilities make this storage location ideal. The location is secure with a gate, cameras, and motion detectors around the campus. They keep the units well maintained and the area clean. I needed to store a large apartment's worth of furniture and belongings for about 9 months. They helped me identify the correct size unit and were able to schedule their box truck for use the next day. All of the units are on the ground level which was refreshing since my apartment was on the third floor. I have absolutely no complaints about RB Self Storage and can not think of any areas for improvement. They were friendly and accommodating and maintain the area very well. I will be going back if I need to store my stuff again. read more

I highly recommend Rancho Bernardo Self Storage! I've had a storage unit there going on 5 years. The grounds are always so clean and well maintained as well as the inside of the storage units. Each time a new renter comes in, they repaint the floor of the unit and make sure it is spotless before you store your valuables in it. The propery is very secure with cameras set up to monitor the units. Various members of the staff also drive around the property on a golf cart periodically throughout the day to keep an eye on things. I can't say enough good things about the staff. They are so friendly and always ready to assist you with whatever you need. I even had one of the staff members help me get a heavy 2 person kyack into my unit when I was struggling with it. Make sure you ask for Norm Werthmann, one of the managers. Nicest guy and have enjoyed great conversations with him. And an add bonus is they offer a moving truck to move your stuff in. Nothing but nice things to say, they were easy, accommodating, and professional. Rented a 10x20 and it was clean when I got it and they were very nice when I left and swept it for me at no additional charge when I forgot to sweep it out. No guilt when leaving and they let me use there small box truck for free when moving in which was very simple and no strings attached. read more
