Rancho Grande is one of the few merchants to buy and sell used appliances in San Francisco. They have a decent selections of washers/dryers, stoves, fridges. They even offer 6 months warranty with no extra charge. However, I found it difficult to communicate and get a hold of them. I had to make many attempts to call until someone got back to me. Then it was the waiting time to get the unit refurbished, they kept postponing my deadline 3x. Finally after 4 weeks, the unit was installed. But it wasn't over, after a few loads of laundries, the washer/dryer didn't work as promised. Again, I couldn't get a hold of them to come inspect the problem. So the 6 month warranty was worthless. At the end, I disposed the washer / dryer and purchased a brand new unit after 3 months of this experience. read more

Rancho Grande is a special sort of a place. They fix and refurbish appliances, something we (the world) really need more of. You will need patience to work with a place like this, but I can say they ultimately saved me several hundred dollars, and took care of my washer and dryer needs, and I felt it was all really worth it in the end. Jorge showed up to service my refrigerator in the garage and when he saw me (I'm Asian-American) his face dropped and he looked the other way. After he started looking at the refrigerator, I asked if I should go upstairs and wait for him to call me. He said disrespectfully said to me "it's up to you". I think there is another, nicer way to say this, especially given that Rancho Grande is a service company and he is physically in my house. I did come down to the garage again to ask whether the motor needs to be replaced (he mentioned it earlier) and he waited 30 seconds even to acknowledge that I said anything to him. Not recommended. When he was finally able to come out he took apart the washing machine and told me it couldn't be fixed . He then charged me 65.00 for coming out. Absolutely do not buy from this business. On 3/16 my husband and I bought a GE fridge from them. We like to buy local, especially from POC owned businesses whenever we can, so it was not a hard choice to make when we decided to replace the ridge in our rental unit. Initially we were happy and excited to get a more spacious appliance. We paid $400+ tax for the refurbished fridge, which, while not a lot of money is also not an insignificant amount of money. They drove the fridge just 6 blocks to our apartment but have a policy they will NOT bring it into your unit. We hired 2 professionals from Lugg to bring it up two flights of stairs into our unit. It was wrapped in blankets and plastic for protection, I watched the transport of it and it was done with ease. When plugged in, it began cooling immediately and was is working condition (except some condensation that needed to be cleaned up several times a day) until Sunday 3/21 when I woke up and it's was hot inside. Yes, hot. My kitchen air was cooler than inside my fridge. I called, and called, and called. According to google, they're open 24hrs a day. I kept calling, left messages, my husband called, left messages. Eventually around 1pm my husband got through to the "father of the man" who sold us the fridge. He was rude and aggressive, told my husband "F*** you, I'll hang up on you if you don't let me talk", and simply did not care that we were sitting on hundreds of dollars or quickly defrosting food. He said he told his son "not to see it to us" or to "give us the 6 month warranty", which we indeed were promised. He also went on to tell us it was probably damaged when the men from Lugg brought it upstairs and if that was the case they would not help us, to which I am remind myself they DO NOT bring appliances into the unit, so they can forego any responsibility after delivery. I later call the man to ask if his son is available to come out to help, since he was "in LA" and we could not wait until Monday, as our food would be spoiled. Again, he became aggressive, yelled at me, spoke down to me. He said he'd come on Monday. I expressed my frustration over being sold an appliance that he previously said shouldn't have been sold, he laughed. I asked for my money back, he said "good luck." In no way do I feel comfortable or safe letting this grossly aggressive man into my apartment, as he has displayed a completely lack of respect and empathy to his customers. I got my own repair man who was an absolute gentleman. One of the cooling coils is COMPLETELY NON FUNCTIONAL. That's one of the issues. Secondly, the gasket (the soft material that insulate the fridge door when closed) is torn at the bottom left corner, which is causing the melting and condensation inside we had been cleaning several time a day. That was causing an over freezing which completely covered the vent for the freezer to cook the fridge. Which, fine, easy fix to defrost it, nbd. But to fix the melting, to replace the gasket, it's $1200!!! TWELVE HUNDRED DOLLARS. I have no doubt they knew the people at Rancho Grande knew this unit was NOT in complete functioning order. I have contacted the BBB and filed a complaint about this business. The fridge is a complete dud and we now need to save up for a new appliance because this one needs to be in a junk yard. When I told this all to the man who SOLD us the fridge on money, his response was "thank you bye bye" - dial tone. If you would like to be verbally accosted, give 415-933-5579 a call. -10/10. Avoid. Do not under any circumstances buy anything from these crooks. Not only will they refer to you in derogatory terms while shopping (puto), they will not honor their warranty. In a mere 5 days after purchase I lost my entire stock of food and in a quarantine situation that matters so much. They told me "f**k you, I'll hang up on you" when I read back the terms on the sales slip that says they offer 6 months warranty, then they stamp all over your slip that they aren't responsible for anything - I really should've known better. They say they offer 24/7 service - make no mistake, they don't and they'll tell you "f**k you this isn't Best Buy". My wife and I are despondent trying to salvage our food in coolers and ice from our favorite corner store. Everything in this shop is broken (it doubles as a daycare), they do not deserve to be in business and we've contacted the BBB. The appliances here are OK, perhaps a little better than what you might find on craigslist, however the owner, Jorge, is such an incredible arrogant a%$hole that I'm amazed anyone actually buys anything from him. I bought a washer/dryer from him that didn't work. I called him to explain this. He kept telling me to call back when he "wasn't so busy." On my third attempt he told me to "quite bugging him and just to give the goddamned address." Huh? After five minutes of YELLING at me on the phone, he said he'll be by to look at it and that he "might have to charge me" for his services because he was "sick of dealing with people." Uh, wha? This review is strictly for the appliance repair service. About three months ago our fridge died and our landlord asked me to use Rancho Grande for the repair. It took three calls to even get a call back, and when I did I made an appointment for the next day within a three-hour window. I rearranged my work schedule and childcare so I could be home to meet them. Of course they never showed. I called repeatedly until I got a human, who claimed there was no record of my appointment and I must have never called. I begged to differ, and demanded that they come out. About an hour later a tech finally arrived and replaced the fan between the fridge and freezer, at a cost of $189. Fast forward three months, and the fridge is dead again. Despite my misgivings, I followed my landlord's wishes and called Rancho Grande again. I left messages three times over two days. No one ever called me back. Two other companies came out to do estimates, and both were baffled that a new fan could fail in three months. Turns out Rancho Grande had installed a fan for a completely different make and model fridge. The tech who discovered this showed it to me. It looked like a 6th grade science project with the mismatched wires and electrical tape. This would explain why the fridge was running warm for the past three months. I work in healthcare and when I leave work early my patients suffer. I have had to leave work early in order to meet them at home during the time they specified and have been stood up each time. When the repair man did not show, I tried calling, left several messages, and received absolutely no answer. When I was finally able to reach a employee named Jorge, he was extremely rude and clearly not interested in rescheduling the appointment that HE had missed. On first sight, Rancho Grande is either unprepossessing or scary, depending on how you feel about rows and rows of rebuilt appliances. However reasonable RG's prices, I would never have purchased my washer and dryer there if it hadn't been for the n-day (60? 90? I forget) repair policy: free labor during the n-day period. After about a month, our dryer started squeaking pretty loudly; since it is a gas dryer and I have a fear of things that might explode, I called RG. I actually stopped in and then called them several times before they finally showed up, but I am sympathetic: the end of the year is busy, and no doubt they were short-staffed because of the holidays. Anyhow, they came today and did not laugh at the simplicity of my issues: squeaking and a surprising amount of lint showing up behind and next to the dryer. The head repairperson (who also came to install the gas dryer -- maybe his employees are also afraid of exploding appliances) and an assistant came in, disassembled the dryer, greased the parts that might squeak, and tightened up parts that might have been complicit in the venting of excess-lint. All of this was covered under my warranty, so I am a happy camper. read more

Parts were$25. labor over $100 I would recommend Jorge at Rancho Grande Appliances for any repairs to appliances. I hired Rancho Grande to fix my oven which had been broken for months. They came the following Monday (I went in on a Thursday) and fixed the problem in 15 minutes. He knows his appliances and can fix anything, although sometimes he will tell you that it is not worth the trouble. THE WORST EVER! I work at a property management company and they have been promising to replace our tenants stove for a month now. When I asked Jorge when the stove would be delivered he said "when he has a nice new one that he promised". When I asked if he could deliver one just in the interim until the new stove came in, he hung up on me. Really? This is how you do business? I wish I could do more than Yelp this man. We waited 6 weeks to have an appliance ready, calling and leaving messages that were never returned, and when we would get in touch, it was always "it'll be ready in a few days", but then it wasn't. I finally got him on the phone a last time and told him that we were expecting a discount given the time that we lost, the money we spent on laundromats, and the hassle and uncertainty. I stated a price, and he just hung up on me. Didn't negotiate or offer any other support or alternative - just hung up. It seems like this business is very hit or miss. I never write reviews. But, if I could give negative 100 stars I would. The main guy (Jorge) at Rancho Grande has been "fixing" a broken oven in a place I rent for over two months. He has been to our place 4 times and either a) "forgets" to bring the part he needs or b) argues that the oven actually works and we don't know what we are talking about. On the 4th visit (today) he was supposed to bring the part that would fix our oven (the arrangements had been made over 2 weeks ago). However, he arrived with only a notepad and wrote down some numbers on the oven - this after being here 3 times prior and after we made arrangements to be home to meet him because he had the part! When we questioned him about how this could possibly be, he said that he does not like to be lectured by people younger than he is. We are in our late 30's and this was no lecture; simply customers wanting to know how his customer service skills and professionalism could be so abysmal. I guess, if you are younger than 70 you just have to be quiet and trust that Jorge knows best. Our landlord insists that we deal with Rancho Grande. (I don't know why, they must be cheap?) They came to pickup of dryer for recycling and decided to verbally abuse my roommate in spanish. They thought the dryer wouldn't make them any money, and began to take it out on my roommate. They didn't think she knew understand spanish. They took the dryer but would never let someone into my home like that again. Stay away if repairs are needed! One of the units on my property needed a burner and oven repair. After schedulng an appointment between 12 and 3, and a no-show I contacted the shop. The lady politely informed me Jorge (repair man) was at a job in South San Francisco that had taken longer than expected, but he would arrive within the hour. Fast forward 5ish, finally arrives tweaks and repairs. He lets me know he does not have an oven knob on hand and I need to visit the shop to pick up this part. I paid for his services and understood. I arrived at the shop, receipt in hand. Jorge Jr. tells me he does not have the part and another appointment needs to be made. Scheuled an appointment for Monday between 10 and 12. No-show. I called the shop again, apparently no appointment was made. I spoke with Jorge Sr. who hangs up on me while I was speaking. I am heading into their shop this afternoon for the 2nd time this week. Family owned business that does SOLID work repairing your kitchen appliances and selling you new and used ones too. The nice shiny steel panel on my dishwasher door suddenly decided it wanted to sail in the air....we were still using the dishwasher, but the panel was practically flying free. Jorge from Rancho Grande set me up with a Saturday repair window (nice to not miss work!) and he showed up towards the end of the two hour window. My dishwasher is happy again now and so are we, only $35 later. Granted, this was not a very complex repair, but based on their service I would definitely use them if something else goes kaput. read more

First, the owner quotes a price to fix my dryer that is 3 times lower than anyone else. When he came in to fix a dryer, apparently he did not have the correct parts as the fix was more complicated than originally thought. He left, ordered parts, and came back two days later. The dryer was fixed and still runs strong more than a year later. And, he did not charge me a penny more than the original quote. Highly recommend for all appliance repair. read more

I was initially calling to ask about purchasing a new washer, but when Jorge asked what was wrong with our machine and heard how much another repairman had quoted to fix it, he offered to come over and take a look at it himself. Said if it was truly not worth the fix (washer is old as hell) he would tell me so at no charge, but if he felt it could give us another few years after replacing the broken part - then he would fix it at a MUCH more reasonable price than originally quoted.
