I went there for Mother's Day and the experience was awful. Let's start with how the food prices were raise per $10.00 extra a dish. Then it was hot hot hot... They refused to turn on the air conditioning. I was so hot that my appetite for the food was decreased. They also had a singer that sang so loud that I couldn't hear the person next to me. Also requesting water was a challenge. I asked for a pitcher of water to be left at my table of 7 people but they refused to do that too. Last but least I order the steak dish and its was extremely salty. Took forever to replace the dish. We did not stay for desert ..... Took enough abuse for one night. Never going back.... Ate there last July 24 (Order #5944 / Check #15727). Great food and tequila; however, $147 for one person alone? For that price I can dine at Maya or Rosa Mexicana. 3 Margaritas @ $9/each; 4 shots at $9 to $13 each ! It's true that when I sit down for 4 hours for a great Mexican meal, I drink plenty of tequila. Usually, though, the cantinero will comp me a few, since I'm spending. I never returned, but the food is great. I prefer traveling from Yonkers for almost 2 hours, taking the M train to Gowanus and dining at Maria's Mexican bistro on Union Street.....same 'alta cocina mexicana,' drinks and 'tequilazos,'.....at less than half the price, because the staff there is GENEROUS and CONSIDERATE! read more

The only positive points I could really find with this place is that they have a lot of parking, service is great, and the interior of the restaurant looks cute. But I'm honestly not too crazy about the food. It wasn't terrible - it was just a little bland. I had sangria and it wasn't balanced well enough for me. I can only speak for the guac and the costumer service -- but both were excellent! The guac, they prepare right in front of you at your table, and it's delicious. Some of the best guac I've had! Love this place. My husband and I have been here at least dozen times its become one of our favorites. Ceviche for appetizer is really good and the skirt steak is delicious. Went here with my wife we were in the mood for Mexican food. My wife gotta a white wine sangria which wasn't that great I asked them if they had fruit punch the waitress said yes and she gave me a drink that tasted like guava juice and it was ok. I love this place! While I do feel the prices are a bit more expensive than most other Mexican restaurants I go to, I really enjoyed it. The decor of this place is beautiful and the staff is very attentive and the food comes out fast. I usually have the taquitos which are delicious! The guac is amazing, made in front of you and they give a large portion. Drinks are good and strong and they have good deals on them during happy hour. The one thing that truly bothers me is that nowhere on the menu do they list the drink prices, then you get the bill and have a bit of sticker shock. I've been to this place a few times now. My first few visits I tried different things from the menu. However, once I tried the Taquitos Al Carbon, I found my plate of preference at this place!! This dish is awesome!! Its Skirt Steak stuffed into 3 flour tortillas and is served with rice and beans. They are very generous with the Skirt Steak in the tortillas. We usually get the fried ice cream for dessert. They put on a nice show when they prepare this dessert right at your table. I like this place and have come back again more than once. read more

Being that it's on Central Ave (one of my least favorite avenues in the world) I was reluctant to try it. I've been there several times in the past few months and they do not fail. YUK!! I've been coming for years.What happened? Ive stayed away for the past few months and there must oh been a change in management. The food use to be great but now im sick to my stomach. I orderd the burrito with carneta (pulled pork) and instead of shredded pork they brought me some hard chunky pieces of pork which at first sight I thought it was chicken but the waiter told me that there pulled pork looks like chicken. Stay away from fish dishes like the salmon and snapper. Each time I got them, they always smelled fishy and they are drenched in sauce. Not tasty or edible. Stick to traditional Mexican dishes. STAY AWAY! Food is horrible..Service is horrendous! The guacamole was beyond bland and avocados were old. I ordered two margaritas, the waiter with very limited English brought back two Piña Coladas. Steak was super dry and had absolutely no flavor. I can go on and on about how bad this place is. To add insult to injury, I was charged TWICE. Just imagine the frustration not only eating horrible food and terrible service but then being charged twice. Ordered from here tonight and I have to say I will never order from this place again. The man in the phone was rude. I asked about the kids menu (chicken fingers, hamburger, hotdog nothing Mexican). I wanted a chicken quesadilla for my 2 year old. Not on the kids menu so I had to order an appetizer. OK, fine. Asked what the fajitas come with and was told a flour tortilla rice and beans.. I asked vegetables? No, just peppers. Hmm doesn't seem like a fajita to me. I order another appetizer quesadilla for myself and the Pueblo Combo for my husband. That's two chicken quesadilla APPETIZERS and a combo and extra pico de gallo. $50!! Rip-off. My husband got home with the food and it was disgusting. The chicken was chewy and pink and there was no barely any cheese in the quesadilla. The rice was bland. My husbands combo was awful. His taco was so mushy that you couldn't hold it, the "chicken quesadilla" was nothing like ours but was extra friend dough with what looked like a strand of melted cheese. It was so puffy that it was an inch of hollow nothing inside and so crispy you couldn't chew it. Very disappointed as this is our neighborhood Mexican restaurant. read more

Went here today for the first time and i most likely will not be returning. The food was overpriced, no flavor and no seasoning. The tacos were bland, as well as the kids chicken nuggets (which are not really nuggets). The guacamole was made fresh at the table and that also was bland. I had to ask for black pepper and salt. Decor is beautiful .. Had the guacamole appetizer which was amazing and fresh .. They come and allow you to choose your own toppings and cut it in front of you ! What better way to celebrate a graduation? Mexican, but not at Rancho Grande! Seven people, seven dishes. Only four satisfied customers. The paellas were good. The Steak Fajitas and the Salmon w/mango sauce did not disappoint. The Spinach Burrito...meh, Steamed Red Snapper...Fail, Grilled Red Snapper...Epic Fail ! These dishes were terrible. Although the burrito had a lot of spinach and cheese, it was basically flavorless. A generous slathering of Habanero pepper sauce saved it from being returned to the cook, yes cook...not "Chef". The Steamed Red Snapper was so salty, my sodium intake for the year is probably covered. The Grilled "Red Snapper"...was not only horrible, it was not even Snapper! It was Tile Fish! When you're from the Islands, you "know " fish. Please guys, we're not all hypnotized by "white sauce" and veggies. We want to get what we pay for...well, maybe we did...Stick to the fajitas and paellas, stay away from the "Snapper". read more

My experience with Rancho Grande was neither good or bad. The staff was friendly but the food was nothing more than OK. It wasn't that the food was bad, it just was lacking that ooomphf that I expect from Mexican food. There was absolutely no bite or exceptional flavor in the food. Fernando the bar manager is a rude, useless POS. He was a HUGE disaster to begin with but now with his 1 week old NEW hairpiece, his disposition is even NASTIER than it was before. He physically tried to throw my friend right off her chair NYE including removing her coat from the back of her chair because he needed an extra chair for someone else. She has been a steady customer since the doors of this place opened. He treats both the customers and the staff horribly. Yells at the staff in front of customers and is very insulting. He is a complete embarrassment to this Restaraunt and as a Human being. I hope ICE deports him. read more

Total fun, food, service and drinks worth the price. Just awesome. Salsa is the best, so much flavor. The young lady who served us knew the menu like a chef, made recommendations based on our menu choice to try chef specials. Her description were spot on. Service was very fast. The drinks weren't even that good and still over priced for the amount that was given. For a table of 6 the check came out to over $300.00. Music over all wasn't that good.
