The young man who helped me was very knowledgeable about avocados and provided me with the information on how to store and preserve them. Of course I've been doing it wrong all my life lol. First off, hats off to Art Vasquez, the owner of the Rancho Vasquez, the nicest most hospitable gentleman & veteran. He gave us a short tour & took us through history by sharing his family's story and legacy of how Rancho Vazquez became to be. His grandfather was the first generation to come here from Mexico as a bracero. I wonder if he ever crossed paths with my grandfather. We will never know. His grandfather taught Art everything he knows about avocados & hence, that was the beginnings of avocado Rancho Vasquez ! The ranch is located on a beautiful location at the foothill of the mountains. All family owned & run business, by three generations. A cutest hidden farm in the SGV. I discovered them through Instagram. I loved that I can purchase fresh picked avocados that are grown so large on the tree! I loved the people there- everyone was so friendly and nice. They gave me a little tour of their farm. Also they are organic! I'm still waiting for mine to ripen but I'm so excited! They look so creamy! Can't wait to try the different flavors between the different types of avocados. read more

I discovered this orchard last year when my friends hosted their wedding reception here and vowed that I would return to visit and buy avocados... ... I have yet to achieve the former, but I'm thrilled that they offer a shipping option! Avocados, bought. I have tried their Hass, Lamb Hass and Reed avocados, and they have changed my life. When I mentioned that I wanted to incorporate avocados into my weekend meals (toast, guacamole, or just eating it as is), they recommended the Reed avocados, and popped my cherry. I'll never be the same again... So rich, so creamy. Anyhoo, it's priced at $4.95/lb as of now. This is an absolute must if you are in Azusa! Where can you find an Organic avocado farm with honey and citrus! Like a siren beckoning I saw a sign on the road and was pulled in. The multiple types of avocados coupled with the amazing graciousness of the owner/grower/patriarch made this an awesome find. I got a mini tour of the grounds and walked away with a few pounds of some of the most outstanding avocados I have ever had. Now I just need to figure out a way to ship a few boxes home (Seattle) throughout the year. When I heard about this Avocado farm, I really wanted to check it out and see how different their avocados tasted compared to those bought at the store. We bought the Reed and the Lamb Haas. The Reed is huge with a lot of meat in them-creamy and full of flavor without that after taste I taste sometimes with other avocados. It ripened in a few days and keeps well without turning black after it's been cut. The next time I'm in the area, I will definitely splurge and pick up some more. For the two, it cost around $8-high quality and taste ain't cheap but worth it! Will be trying the Lamb Haas soon but I'm sure it will be delicious! Come support this family run farm! read more

Found this ranch a few years ago. We haven't bought avocado from anywhere else since then. The store avocados just don't taste as good. When they are out of season, then we are out of season. Makes it that much better when they reopen. Favorite variety is Fuerte. Hands down. read more

They are significantly bigger than the normal hass avocado you may be used to. They're considered to be "earthier", but definitely does not lack in flavor. The avocado orchard is family owned and run. The 2 people I met last weekend were so knowledgeable about their produce, and truly cared about each and every product they put out. Very humble folks, too. The avocados are organized by level of "ripeness", so you can select which best suits your preference. They're all displayed impeccably so you can hand select which one you want, and they also have some bundles already prepared for convenience - I think the bundles average about $15-$20~ each pending on the season and variety available. Yes, they are definitely the priciest avocados I've ever bought, BUT they were so worth the price tag!! I picked up 18 avocados last weekend and shared with my aunt, choosing half to be eaten within a few days, and the other half that would ripen in about 10 days from the day I bought them. The 18 avocados alone ended up being about $54 (yikes!), plus the honey. I don't like honey by itself all that much, but their honey is so delicious! I made fig scones yesterday, and they paired beautifully together. Don't sleep on it. You can also order your avocados online and have them shipped to you. Wild. And stay hydrated when going to the orchard, it was super humid when we were there last weekend when it was 111 degrees. Stay safe! read more

I love everything about Rancho Vasquez from the family who runs the Rancho (they are welcoming and kind), the beautiful and scenic location, and of course the best avocados. Thanks to their FB post or I would not have found this hidden gem! This place us just up street from Azusa Costco. Who would have known after 20 years living in the area? Drove to farm. Due to social distancing, no formal tours but the nice young lady who worked on the farm and is from NY gave us an informal tour. There were only 4 of us on this "tour" Dave who is the son showed me how to pick the avocadoes and shared the different types they have. Excited to know that this farm grows avocadoes all year round but only in Sept and Oct are there no time avocadoes to sell. Trees looked healthy and well rendered to so I couldnt resist but get avocadoes. These avocadoes are all organic. I purposely came out for Reed avocados. You can't really find these in the market except farmers markets so today I scored!!! If you never tried them, this is your chance. They are the best kind in my opinion...smooth and creamy. Good ratio of seed to flesh. Price is same for all avocadoes per lb. Farmer's market prices are averaging $5 to $6 each for Reeds. Right now all avocadoes they are 20% off per pound. Each Reed cost about $4 today. Family run business. Son came out with gf from NY to help parents with farm during this pandemic. Truly family oriented. They are very friendly and very open to sharing their knowledge about avocadoes and the history of the farm. Buy local and please consider supporting this farm. Easy parking. We are delighted to have found this local gem in Azusa. Rancho Vasquez is a family owned organic "Avocado Farm". The ranches 3.700 trees are nestled in the Azusa foothills. Bristol Farms grocery store is one of their main vendors. They are open to the public on weekends Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9-5 and sell them by the pound. After years of passing this Ranch on my way to a friends I decided to finally stop by to check it out. So glad we did, the owners are very nice, very informative, and super caring when it comes to how they grow their Avocados. Something I can really appreciate, as I'm super into health. When they say quality matters, trust it does. As an avocado lover, I need to be super careful to buy only CA grown avocados something about Mexican grown that give me an allergic reaction. Listen, CA avocados are not easy to find at the supermarket and if you do find them they are not cheap. Plus you can only buy a few at a time before they go bad, which makes things even worse. So mind you I was very skeptical when it came to this plac. We decided to buy a small bag of Fuerte as recommended by the owners. Boy I wish I bought two bags! When I got home I checked them out, trying one that I thought was super ripe / spoiled to find that it was perfect! So smooth, so creamy, taste was on point and amazing. It was the best tasting Avocado I have had in years. So do yourself a favor and check out this farm, they won over my business for life. Thank you , look forward to getting some more ! read more
