First, I just have to say that the service here is incredibly friendly. I was pleasantly surprised with how every employee here that I came across was super friendly and helpful. Our waiter also checked in with us enough to be helpful but not overbearingly annoying. Great service! The food came out quickly and was incredibly delicious. I always love to go with their combination plates as you can piece together what you would like to eat, rather than be stuck with a dish already built out. The enchiladas are always a safe choice, and the beans and rice are tasty. I came in on a Sunday for lunch with my significant other and it wasn't too crowded or noisy. It wasn't too empty either (which can be a sign to look for at restaurants too) so the ambiance was perfect! The ambiance was nice. There is a lot to look at, tons of decor! The restaurant is spacious, lots of tables and booths. I went for a late lunch with my husband last week. The service was okay. Our server was an older gentleman, he seemed rushed. The menu is ginormous! I had a few questions about the food options, but I only felt comfortable asking 2 questions. The chips and salsa were tasty! We had 2 refills of chips and salsa, while we waited for our food. We ordered the beef taquitos for an appetizer. My husband ordered the chimichanga burrito and I ordered the shredded burrito. Our meals came with beans and rice. Our portions were smaller than expected. My shredded beef was bland, which was disappointing. The beans and rice were fair. My husband liked his chimichanga meal. Our server brought a cinnamon chip, topped with whipped cream, scoop of vanilla ice cream and strawberry syrup as a dessert. The dessert was tasty, one bite goodness! Our server made a little comment, about how we cleaned the plates fast. I know he didn't mean anything by that comment, but it did feel slighted. I would come back to try the tacos! my husband and I arrived about 5:30 on a saturday evening. my husband mentioned that it was my birthday. Not even a happy birthday. Man seated us, gave us our menus, and when he noticed my menu was dirty he just took it out of my hand and gave me another one. No comment. I ordered the chili rellenno and my husband ordered the taco dinner. the server brought us our chips and salsa, and water. the ice water was in a very large heavy pitcher. He didn't pour our water and the weight was quite difficult for either of us to handle, the food was mediocre, but the lack of greeting or smiles, made this the last visit to this restaurant. read more

Both were delicious and I love how the plates are hot when they are brought to the table so your meal stays nice and warm. The margaritas are pretty good as well. We were seated immediately and a pleasant guy brought us chips and salsa right away. I ordered a simple margarita and it barely had any salt on the rim of the glass but it was fine. They only have bottled beer so my husband passed on that. He had a chorizo burrito and the black beans instead of refried beans and he said they were fine. I had steak fajitas that came with rice and refried beans and they were fine. Not hot, just fine. Our server wasn't very friendly but he was fine. My niece loves this place, it definitely is one of the better more authentic mexican restaurants in Spokane. I went to the bathroom and sneaked by the kitchen and they were all hispanics cooking thats a good sign. Veggie fajitas are my favorite, they definitely dont chince on the portion sizes. This happens to be along our regular route that our family makes about every week so we stop by every now and again. The food here is decent but not memorable. They have all of the regular Mexican dishes that you would expect to find and we have tried many of them. Again always decent but slightly bland with only the salt coming through. The prices have also been going up and up so it's tough to justify mediocre food at that price for a family. Chips and salsa are of course a part of the meal and we found on the past couple visits they tasted greasy and stale. The service here has always been friendly and efficient. It's too bad the food isn't better than it is. We'd be back far more often if it was. read more

Always good. Their arroz con pollo has a bit darker mole type sauce, which I like a lot. It's not a health food, but compared to other places theirs isn't as greasy. Portion size is excellent. Prices are very fair. Haven't dined in for awhile, but they are always so friendly and welcoming. Blanco sauce is great. Not too heavy, so you get flavors of whatever proteins and veggies you have. We ate here for dinner last night, the power was out for a large part of North Spokane so they were busy and probably short staffed for the volume of business. The chips and salsa were instantly at the table and the margarita was very good. It took a long time for our order to be taken, but once in, the food arrived quickly. Not impressed. Had a chicken tortilla salad. The chicken was paper thin and tough. The "diced" tomato was a single slice. So basically a fried tortilla with a dollop of black beans tough chicken, small amount of shredded lettuce a plop of sour cream and two slices of avocado for almost $12. We are just getting back out after this virus shutdown - you would think that restaurants would want return business. Ugh. Twigs is working hard, we will be going back to Twigs and putting this place on the back burner - where they obviously keep the chicken. read more

It's been quite a while since I've been here but last Saturday I found myself heading back to Rathdrum, Id (my current home) from visiting family and this was on my way so I availed myself of their hospitality. I ordered the arroz con pollo and was not disappointed. Lots of chicken & green pepper strips with onion and cheese smothered in their own special sauce. (I've added a photo) I've tried this particular dish at various establishments and this one rates near the top. Their prices seem to be near the top as well. The top of her taco kept lifting! Peek'a'Chico!!?? Holy mackerel! We, uh, let Management know and they literally said, "We'll just leave this on your table while we get another..." No apology. No Beetle-Helper™ mix. No bueno, Chico! Made a reservation? It just doesn't matter. They passed up my relatives in line faster than the grounded beetle could fly. Food is OK if you don't mind questionable hygiene and lackadaisical service. Maybe if the customers stop complaining we can get some peace and quiet around here? When we were leaving PDQ, they offered *nothing* -- so we've offered them the same in return of our future patronage with $80-$100 dinners. read more

So sad to post a bad review, we visited the restaurant the day after Thanksgiving this year. We were so excited to have some of our favorite food and ordered what we usually order. We had a guest with us and they ordered taquitos. Well we received our food and it was flavorless and bland as can be. The taquitos were over cooked and liked and tasted like bland beef jerky. We told the waiter it's his response that was so unfortunate, he acted offended and angry. When a patron receives bad food the restaurant should be eager to please and the. Relay that info to the kitchen. Needless to say we probably won't be back for a very long time, I hope they get back to quality standards. read more

Vegetarian review: Rancho Chico is the best Mexican food I've yet found in Spokane. The refried beans aren't vegetarian, so ask for the whole beans. Green sauce is vegetarian, too. Thus far I've tried the cheese enchilada and chiles rellenos; both are delicious, but the rellenos have a little more flavor. The house salsa is also really delicious - it's garlicky with a background of cilantro - so order extra! The restaurant itself is really cute, too. During the COVID shut-down, they are offering take out and seem to be open all their regular hours. Remember to tip well if you can during these hard times! read more
