I don't really write reviews but we're just not feeling good after eating here. Don't get me wrong the food was good, well portioned and overall tasted great! It was the service that was a bit of a let down unfortunately. When you walk in it's a little confusing but you have to walk up a little more to get seated, ordering went well and everything came out in a timely manner but the runner who brought the food out practically threw our plates at us and was huffing and puffing all around, there was a mix up with a side, we asked for sour cream instead of guacamole and on the plate there was guacamole so we asked the runner for sour cream because there was a mix up, again with the huffing "I guess I'll go get you some" but it never came along. When we finish our food we didn't get a bill until maybe 10-15 minutes after we had finished our food and then on the bill there was guacamole, we asked to have it removed because we hadn't asked for guacamole but sour cream, the waitress we had continued to say it was going to be more if she added it and we were asking to have it removed altogether because it wasn't touched and it was the wrong item but she just didn't see it that way or just refused so we left a tad unsatisfied. read more

Friends enjoyed beers & margaritas. I'm a non-drinker and the water was good. They brought a carafe of it to the table along with a basket of chips and salsa. We enjoyed the happy hour appies of crispy tacos with chicken and chipotle chicken taquitos. Very tasty and my tacos had big chunks of juicy chicken breast meat. We usually eat here on our way in or out of Sisters. We really enjoy the quaint atmosphere and the outdoor area in back when the weather cooperates. Pets are welcome on the back deck if they are well behaved so that makes it convenient for us as we travel with our GSD. We usually get the Dos Tacos but occasionally try other offerings. I want to like this place, but after several visits it just is not good. The place is cute, but the servers all seem unhappy and several are downright surly. The food is only average but the worst thing is the horrible oil they use to fry everything. The smell of rancid oil permeates the place and makes the chips (and anything deep fried) basically inedible. That one fix and having people greet you with a smile and this place could jump up to 4 stars but alas it isn't. read more

Not only do they have the best outside bar in the back and margaritas, but their food is amazing! I ordered the Macho burrito, which highlighted how great their carnitas was. I can always tell how good a Mexican restaurant is by its chips and salsa and they said it all. This place is incredible. Friendliest staff around too too it off. read more

We're from Los Angeles area, and have eaten at this restaurant several times in the two weeks we've been here. I'm not sure what these bad reviews are complaining about, because it is very apparent that this is a family run restaurant that puts a lot of time and love into their food and their service. We've had consistently awesome customer service, and consistently phenomenal food. The food is flavorful, authentic, and presented beautifully. The drinks are good, and the fruit margaritas are using actual fruit puree and lime. We found the restaurant to not only be clean, but beautifully decorated. I would recommend this beautiful, tasty, family run restaurant to anyone. In the many times we've been here, whether busy or slow, the two of us have had awesome, prompt service and care. read more

The only reason for the low stars Was the speed of service. From the time we ordered to the time delivered to the table took well over 25 min. We ordered 2 order of tacos and a fajita. They never refilled our pops the entire time we sat. The waitress was short and seemed to have no time for customers. We haven't eaten at Rancho Viejo in quite some time since we weren't excited about our past couple of meals there, but we had lunch there today and it was amazing. Everything was perfect. I ordered the enchiladas camerones special and W ordered chicken enchiladas with rice and beans. My enchiladas were so delicious. The corn tortillas were so flavorful and soft and the camerones with cheese sauce were out of this world. I hope they put this special on their regular menu. The beans and rice were also cooked perfectly. I can't complain too much about the salsa, since it is my problem that I hate cilantro. If you love cilantro, you will love the salsa. The server was one that I had never met and he was the best. We loved his beautiful deep voice and he was so sweet and attentive. read more

Not for vegetarians/ vegans or well anyone that wants a substitution. They would not do any substitutions not even make cheese flautas saying the cheese runs out . Asked for two other items to substitute shrimp for fish - wouldn't do it or anything other substitute. Chips were stale and there was a hair in one of our meals. After we notified the waitress she wouldn't come back To our table to even bring us the bill and it was $91. You think the customer would be right but nope not here. Will never go back! read more

Living in Sisters, I've always wished this restaurant was better than it was...in my first time back here in a couple of years, I was very disappointed. My wife and I ordered the Cadillac margarita, thinking it would be the best...we love margaritas...but we also are particular about tequila so we subbed in 1800 for the standard Hornitos (same price point/quality) however for this special request, the ~$15 margarita went up to ~$20. Unfortunately, this was the worst margarita I've had in years. My wife sent hers back and I'm the nice guy who doesnt want to rock the boat so I just pushed thru and drank my glass of what tasted like bitter orange juice. What happened to lime in margaritas? Grand Marnier? Pretty sure it wasnt in there. And as far as my 1800 Reposado substitution, pretty sure they put in silver/blanco. After we talked to the server about the overpowering orange and later the crazy pricing she basically told us "it is what it is". No apologies or any attempts to make us feel better, let alone make it right. The food was the usual...not great, but not the worst mexican food ever. We had chicken mole and tacos. If you want sit down mexican, this is your only choice in town, but if you want better food try Coco Loco (food truck). Service wasnt great either. We were left for long periods without checkins, when we started questioning the margaritas we were given strange looks and the chips dont flow at all. You are provided with one tiny basket and the second tiny basket is $3.50. Now what the heck to do with all the extra salsa? Dump it on the flavorless rice that comes with your meal. read more

Originally thought worst Mexican food but after further consideration felt more accurate to say Worst meal ever. High priced and most unappetizing presentation ever seen. One of us had pork (we think) but was cooked beyond any recognition. Beans and rice were clearly microwaved and dry. Other meal was steak enchiladas which were also terrible. Portions small. Our party of 7 had different eating needs (vegetarians, gluten free, kids) and they were happy to accommodate all of our needs, even to cook on a pre-cleaned skillet for our celiac kid. We had our dinner on the back patio and it was lovely. Homemade salsa was delicious and comes in two flavors - regular and hot.
