Lucy's Taco Shop in Madras is a total hidden gem at 916 NE 3rd St. My brother and I always make it a point to park the semi out front and walk over because the food is incredible. The taco salad I ordered was plentiful with perfectly seasoned meat and very fresh greens. The shell was so crispy that I actually finished every bite. The service is always friendly and consistent, which makes it a reliable favorite for us. The whole shop has a welcoming vibe and is easily the best Mexican spot around. 5 stars! read more

Lucy's has become my favorite Mexican restaurant when I'm missing good Mexican food I grew up eating in Los Angeles. Last week, my mom was visiting and wanted fish tacos so I took her here. She was a huge fan! I brought her back two more times before she went home which was definitely not in my bingo card for her visit. Lucy's is unassuming. It's not some fine dining restaurant. There's a counter where you order your food and they call out your order when it's ready. What you can't see from the street is the salsa bar. Holy smokes it's fresh and delicious. They have all the condiments you'd expect from traditional Mexican street foods and hot chips just sitting there. The fish tacos my mom had? They were delicious! I ordered her two thinking they were tiny. No, they were huge so I had to eat one for her. Poor me! I've had the asada on multiple occasions and it's delicious every time. For the money, the portions are huge. You definitely get your money's worth. From what I can tell, there's usually only one person manning the grill and she pumps out food so hot and delicious all the time. They even serve menduo (Mexican hangover stew) which a lot of places in LA only do on weekends. I can't say good enough things about Lucy's. Ten stars! Absolutely delicious food! Every bit of this dining experience was amazing! My husband and I were on vacation, just looking for something to eat and came across Lucy's. This isn't some big fancy taqueria, it's a small place with about 10-15 tables. Ordered our food at the counter, we both ordered the taco and enchiladas plate that came with beans and rice. Cheese enchiladas and crispy shredded beef taco. Got our fountain drinks, chips and salsa at the fully loaded salsa bar and sat down. They called our number pretty fast and omfg!!! The food was so good, we finished every bit of it! It was so good, we had it again the next day for dinner! I ordered from the drive thru. The person taking my order was professional and friendly. The drive thru experience was good. I ordered 2 carne asada tacos and 2 Adobada tacos. These tacos were $5.50 each, which is more than tacos normally cost here, so my expectations were high. The food took a normal amount of time (not too fast) to prepare. I got home to eat the food and was disappointed. The Meat: Pre-cooked is expected from a taco shop, but this meat was very dry and rubbery. The asada reminds me of dog food. Also, quite salty (more than normal from other taco shops). The salas: The rojo is not worth putting on food. The verde salsa was actually really good. The rest: The guacamole is not good. It is spoiled and acidic. I don't know if the pictures show the coloration I saw, but it was not edible. This completely ruined the tacos. I tried removing what I could, but there was only so much I can do. I do not recommend Lucy's and will not be returning. read more

Ordered delivery here on our way home from Seattle. The food was really delicious. Hubby ordered the 3 taquitos meal, I ordered the enchilada, taco meal. Delicious food. I was not happy that that I paid $4.40 twice for 2 guacamoles, we only got 1, also in instructions, I texted please bring utensils and napkins. Nope. Wanting to get some tacos while staying in Bend. Found Lucy's Taco shop off 3rd street. Interestingly enough they had a drive through. We ordered a bunch of different things: six mini taco plate, chicken tacos, green burrito, tostada, kids chicken quesadilla and a tamale. While we waited there was a chip and salsa bar. They had four different salsas, my favorite being the regular chunky salsa. The avocado one was pretty salty for me. My favorite part of the whole bar were the jalapeño carrots. They were a little different than ones I'm used to, I think it's the bay leaves. But they were great by themselves and with the tacos! I quite enjoyed them! I got the six mini tacos with asada and carnitas. The carnitas were a bit dry and crunchy on some pieces. Wish it was more moist and juicy to help the taco be less dry. I tried my husbands green burrito with carnitas and that was probably the best meal. The chicken taco with rice and beans were quite bland. My kids ended up eating only the rice. The service was good and we got our food quick. The restaurant area had lots of big tables. We ended up picking up our food and clearing it away. Not sure if you have to or not. There was over 3 cats in front of me and they took 30 minutes to get to the first one and their food isn't even all that like c'mon man.

I've been to Lucy's a handful of times. I've had takeout, delivery, and dine in. I think their carnitas are not super consistent, and have been salty at times and amazing other times. What I want to commend though is their incredibly kind and friendly staff, their delicious bacon burritos (I add beans) - my fav breakie burrito in town, and the fact that I've never been salsa shamed there and they have pickled jalapeños and carrots! I won't lie - my boyfriend and I practically take a shot of salsa with each bite (my bum is fine and it's how I enjoy my food) and I just really appreciate being able to get my food how I like it!! This place has always been hit or miss, but when I came by last night and was served some of the greasiest and overcooked chicken tacos I've ever had the misfortune of receiving, I've confirmed their food is in fact just not good. To top it off, the woman working the window added an automatic 25% gratuity without my knowledge. I didn't figure this out by looking at the receipt, she didn't give me one. But with a total of $14 being charged as $17.50, I was able to figure that part out on my own. Well first I will say, Lucy's was amazing when it first opened. Food was cheap, decently priced and was always consistent. Lately food has gone down in quality, inconsistency and most importantly if you look back a few years or so ago, price was worth it but now they have increased the price so much you are paying $14 for a fucking burrito... I can go to Olive garden and get restaurant quality food for $16-$18. Like are you serious... That's insane! Lucy's is a newish restaurant on 3rd Street operated by the folks who run the place in Redmond. This space used to be Baja Fresh. - Solid taco joint, with of course many other non-taco options. - Typical fast food operation: either order at the drive-through or come in, order at the counter and wait. - Four varieties of salsa available at the salsa bar or pre-packaged in small tubs. None are super spicy. Free tortilla chips. The two taco combo with chicken: very filling and all delicious. Lucy's tacos are pretty big - these aren't mini street tacos (they do offer mini tacos though). Prices are excellent. You can feed an army on the cheap here. read more

This is probably my favorite place to go for Mexican food in Central Oregon. Being from CA, I have been spoiled and have yet to find a place that quite compares. They do pretty good burritos. I can't speak about anything else, since I'm a burrito girl lol. It is kind of a bummer that you have to pay extra for chips and salsa. My fiancé and I haven't had bad experiences here. We've always enjoyed the food we received and the ambiance is pretty on par for most other Mexican restaurants I've been to. read more

2.5* Ive only had their food a handful of times, but mostly breakfast burritos as of late. Ive noticed the breakfast burritos getting smaller and at $9.75 each, its not that cheap. Twice ive ordered with no potatoes, and the lady confirms, and it ends up with french fries in it.. and the ratio of egg to potatoes and meat is low.. I prob wont be back anymore, at least not for the breakfast burritos they cant seem to get right (even though no one was behind me in drive thru line at like 6:50am). read more

We first went here when they opened and it was great! Now we have been here 3 times since and every single time our order is wrong. (Unfortunately because we take it to go, we don't notice till we get home). We decided to give it one more shot since all I wanted was a chicken burrito with rice and beans. No beans (again). I can understand our order being wrong every once in awhile (but every time) and on something so simple. And its not just that the beans are missing (I can deal with that) it's also that the chicken is horrible. It is fatty and chewy! Last time we went here to eat we paid for a chicken burrito, only to get home and find that it only had beans and cheese. Just one of many that has been wrong when we get home. I was torn on trying this place due to some negative reviews (spoiler alert - a number of those are regarding PPE/covid awareness by employees). However, after talking to buddy who had good things to say about the Redmond location, we decided to try it out today. It was Oct 2020 when we visited and there were tables inside and out. It didn't appear they had tried to limit the seating, but people were self governing and the restaurant employees were wearing PPE. There were also several bottles of sanitizer located around the restaurant as well as instructions to please use it before touching commonly used areas (salsas in individual containers, napkins, utensils, etc). The food took slightly longer to come out than I was expecting based on the number of people in the restaurant. That being said, the food was well worth the wait. I ordered the #14, a wet burrito with your choice of meat (carne asada for me), rice, and beans for $11. Wow! The burrito was absolutely loaded with steak, as well as some pico de gallo! The steak was well seasoned on its own and was super tender. The burrito sauce poured over the top also had a great flavor. The rice and beans were pretty standard, but were amped up by drowning in the green salsa. Speaking of salsas, I tried the green salsa (non avocado) and the dark red. Both were really good; the red ended up being poured all over my burrito. It's great to have another go-to burrito spot, pretty reasonably priced for Bend. I asked my husband to get me three shredded beef tacos, the way that you make them, not like his with no lettuce and extra cheese. Well, I got three tacos but you threw the lettuce and cheese on top of the tacos, you did not take the time to put the basic fixings into the taco, just throw it on top and give me a fork.
