Service: 3.5/5 - Friendly enough, but I missed the usual "How's everything tasting?" check in. It would've been nice to feel a little more looked after. Food: 5/5 - Absolutely fantastic. Every bite was spot on, and honestly, if I was rating on food alone, this would be an easy 5 star review. Atmosphere: 1/5 - HOT AF. Like, sweat-on-your-back, fanning yourself with the menu hot. I don't know if the AC was down or if it just couldn't keep up, but it made what should've been a relaxing meal feel pretty uncomfortable. Final thoughts: The food was excellent, but it's tough to want to come back when you're worried about melting through your seat. If the temperature situation gets fixed, this place has serious repeat potential. read more

Came here for brunch on Sunday. Place was empty ( good for us). It did pick up as soon as we were seated. We were served room temp water but the table next to us got ice water. Ok, whatever. I noticed they had a pastry basket ($10). The server said he had to check to see if there were enough pastries; I wish I would have asked what they were. I decided to get that and a coffee and a breakfast flatbread. The coffee was watery and just warm. The pastries? A choco chip cookie, a chocolate something or other , and two mini cheddar jalapeno scones with awful texture. I bit into it thinking it was apricot. Those are not pastries! I sent it back and cancelled the coffee that was being brewed. The flatbread was ok. Bacon and onions topped with two eggs. Hubs got the Huevos Rancheros and said it was good. Not at all what I expected from this place. We have only been here once before when they were a new restaurant ; the food selection wasn't really what we like. We were not told of the brunch specials either and only noticed them upon leaving. Probably won't be back. read more

I was really hoping for a great food experience. But was greatly disappointed. 3 people in our party ordered the fish and chips and they were all under cooked. Gooey batter and slimey fish. Our server was very nice but the damage had been done. They offered free dessert which was also not good. The cheesecake tasted rotten, almost fermented. My husband felt sick after eating it. Unbelievably fresh and flavorful with a great local beer selection, Kevin the owner greeted our table and every staff member checked on us as they hustled. This place WAY exceeded expectations! Don't let the strip mall front fool you - this place is dishing up some five star fare and doing it with style. I'm on a Yellowstone kick so the vibe was right up my country alley, without being kitsch or obnoxious. We got here late afternoon on a Tuesday and it was super quiet, but by 5:30 was filling up until the joint was a-hoppin! I ordered the deviled eggs (homerun), and then ordered an app and a salad as my main. The meatballs were perfectly cooked with just the right amount of kick, the beet salad was on point with peppery arugula and two kinds of beets served crisp and cold! Hubby had the fried chicken which was delicately crazed with just the right amount of substance, the potatoes were delish and the spinach was expertly sautéed and plated. We ordered the apple crisp for dessert (so good!! Right ratio of apple to crisp!) and also grabbed a meatloaf entrée to go for the kiddo. The whole evening was a slam dunk! The Range Kitchen & Tap is popular, so you must make reservations well in advance to dine on weekends. Making a reservation on the Tuesday before a Saturday, I was waitlisted before getting a reservation; I received notification that a table had opened up the day before around noon. Restaurant does leave a few tables available for walk-ins. We purposely arrived earlier than our 7 PM reservation because we had a 9 PM show to attend, and the restaurant was kindly and easily able to accommodate us. Modern casual dining. We sat in the private dining room through the sliding barn doors in the back. Natural lighting, which makes for better food photography. There were several small tables for 2 next to each other, so not the most private dining experience. Restaurant layout gives you the feeling of a bar or a diner with the long countertop seating and bar tables in one section. The Range also has outdoor dining. We dined on 7/31/2021, so the world was just opening up again from COVID restrictions. The servers were young and inexperienced, likely new employees. One had to write down the order. Another forgot to bring us something (which I have also now forgotten!), so we had to ask another server. When we asked to substitute the fries, the server had to run back to ask, but did so enthusiastically. Considering the prices, neither my friend nor I was impressed with the food. Our bill total was well over $100, and he is still reminding me that it wasn't worth it! My favorites were the Bison Meatball Sliders and the seedless yellow watermelon in the Heirloom Tomato Salad. His favorite was the Pan Seared Scallops served over wild mushroom risotto. With the Grilled Bavette Steak, we were kindly allowed to substitute the fries with a variety of appealing items, so we chose mashed potatoes, which didn't cost extra. Food here is fantastic- fresh and delicious. Really liked the beets salad - red and golden beets, arugula with balsamic dressing and feta cheese. I basically inhaled it. Initial: welcoming server was helpful with recommendation and thoughtful about customer experience. The beet salad has dollops of "Fresca" type crème along the side. Almost as if you're encouraged to eat it linearly to have the perfect amount of beet, feta, and greens. They all balance each other out as the greens have the typical bitterness you'd expect. I have been eating pretty poorly lately so this is the refreshing salad I've been looking for. (4.1/5) Chicken fried chicken on a bed of mash potatoes. Potatoes are great mix of chunky with occasional bits potato and skin. They have a bit of sweetness to them which contrast the fried chicken. The chicken itself is crispy while juicy. The breading tastes different than your typical fried chicken batter without being oily. Together these make a great pair (4.5/5) Conclusion: the overall experience was decent without any blemishes. I will say they do a great job of embodying comfort while being elegant to some degree. The biggest thing I struggle with personally would be their price/portion ratio. The food was great, my cleaned my plate but these are only my initial impressions. I would definitely like to come back but am in no rush. So it was parents night out and we decided to give Range a try.... I'm so glad we did! While it's a small spot, that's very busy, the food and service are very good. We weren't super hungry so we thought we'd order a couple appetizers and a pizza. We went with the charcuterie board, boar bacon and artichoke dip, and the broken link pizza. It was all awesome! And, it was a lot of food. We wound up taking some of it home. Since this is a kitchen and tap room, I thought I'd enjoy a draft along with my meal. I wasn't sure what I wanted so our server, Jake, offered samples. I was quite happy to try a pilsner and a lager.... I chose to go with Berryessa Brewing Co's Free Kittens Lager; it was light and refreshing and delicious. My wife had a glass of wine and enjoyed it very much. Overall, the experience was fantastic! Forager Pizza: Decent pizza. I'm not a sauce on pizza person, so this was good for me. My younger sister didn't really like, but my bf and I enjoyed. The goat cheese clumps I could live without but it doesn't change that I enjoyed the pizza. Also, tasted better the next morning. Game of the Week (Elk): Surprisingly really enjoyed. Probably everyone's favorite dish we got and finished. The texture and taste was a bit different from steak, but I think I enjoyed it a lot more than beef. The horseradish potatoes wasn't for me. I don't enjoy horseradish, so definitely wished we asked for it to be omitted. Mac and Cheese: Pretty decent Mac and cheese. This was another dish that everyone enjoyed and finished. Artichoke Dip: Super cheesy and creamy. The pita bread was a bit crunchy for my liking, but did the trick. Enjoyed the flavor of the dip, but probably wouldn't get it again. Brussels Sprouts: Parts of it tasted pretty burnt, but other parts was really good. It was covered in bacon and balsamic. Would have really enjoyed the crispness of the sprouts if it didn't taste burnt Overall, this place was not bad at all! I don't think I would seek out this place to eat again, but if someone asked me to go I wouldn't dread/hate it. Well, to be honest, I didn't remember the first experience and that was probably a good thing or I wouldn't have come back. Literally everything was the same. First, let me start with the service. They are incredibly interested in providing top services, but they just don't land. To begin with, we had reservations and the only option was a tall table. So we decided to wait for an actual table which took much longer than they estimated. I take responsibility for this, but they missed it completely because we had requested a quite area as we were celebrating a birthday. We were seated and ordered the charcuterie board which for about $19 was a little disappointing, but was the highlight of the food. I had the special which was "elk tenderloin"... it was cooked exactly as I asked, medium rare, but when it came it was cold. The sauce had formed a skin due to it standing. Overall, it was a miss. The tenderloin was really tough, and even chewy. The sauce, outside of the skin that had formed, tasted burned, and other than that, added little to the plate. Everyone at the table asked for salt, as the seasoning was missing. Regarding service, yes they try hard. And they are nice. But they miss the opportunity. We ordered desert and a coffee and a hot tea. The tea was bitter and undrinkable. Additionally, it and the coffee came only after asking three different people. Again, a big miss. Finally, value- I find none. And similar to my last experience nothing has improved and in many ways, it has deteriorated. There is so much potential but it just is not materializing. Hence, while I had originally given more stars, I am only giving one, mostly because they try. Overall the bill for four was north of $200. IMHO, these issues (cold food, uncoordinated service, poor quality ingredients, and questionable taste) should not cost $200. In the end, if it were an Applebee's it might be average, but it isn't. It is supposed to be fantastic, and for this being the second experience so similar to the first, perhaps I am missing something. read more

I am in town visiting a friend and I found this place close to my hotel. I am so glad I actually came here! Some of the best food I've had in a very long time. I had a beet salad that was so delicious and fresh and perfect on this hot day. I also got a peach and goat cheese and mozzarella pizza. It was very good. I charitably, in the interest of supporting local employment and businesses in Roseville, I initially rated this place a 4 stars because my first visit last week, early afternoon, on Wed. or Thurs., may not be a typical experience which has earned a steady 4 to five stars from more frequent patrons. But because the lasagna entree had the texture of undercooked pasta (different from al dente), and I had to slice parts of it twice with a knife, plus it must have been baked day before and reheated in a microwave, I am changing the rating down to a three stars. I also ordered an arugula salad featuring carrots and turnips. It is uncommon nowadays to find restaurants serving arugula, and even a rarer experience to be served turnips. However, the bitsy size pieces of turnips and carrots failed to add more texture and flavor. I did not pay to just enjoy the arugula with a teasing amount of two veggies of which I really wanted to enjoy parsnips. However, the dressing was perfectly coated each morsel of the salad. A restaurant cook failing to prepare and have a tender lasagna is not worthy of forgiveness. I understand prices and portions have to be adjusted to survive, but the taste, texture and quality of the food served cannot be compromised. read more

My go to for good food at a good price close to home. Staff is always kind and attentive. Food always tastes fresh. I always order the Charcuterie Board that never disappoints with the fig compote! Priced at the all time reasonable price of $18. Next is the Margherita Pizza at $14 delicous I always order it if I am not ordering the Bison Burger. $24 you can get the Porter House which is grilled pork with sauteed spinach roma tomatoes and onions. Lastly for less than $10 is the kids pasta with marinara which is a basic spaghetti with fries. Give this place a go! This place is awesome. We arrived last night about 7:15, not realizing that they close at 8:00. I hate being the type of person that comes into a restaurant within less than an hour of closing even though I know it's quite common. Either way it was still quite busy and we were seated immediately. The interior is very nice, inviting, and comfortable. Our server was very friendly and offered good suggestions. We started with the Brussels and Bacon. I'm convinced that even those who despise vegetables would enjoy this dish. The brussels are fried, mixed with bits of bacon, and topped with a balsamic glaze. They are simply incredible. We agreed that a few of these dishes could suffice as the entire meal. However, we had some entrees in mind so we ordered the Flat Iron Steak and Lamb Chops. I subbed the fries with mashed potatoes for the steak which they happily accommodated. The steak had a good char to it, with a perfect medium temp inside. The mashed potatoes were some of the best that I've had at a restaurant, they tasted like aunt carol's on Easter Sunday. The lamb was really good as well, and the vegetables that came with it with cooked perfectly, not too soft, not too crunchy. Our first visit won't be our last visit to Range! We came in without reservations at 4pm and were seated right away. It filled up pretty quickly so next time I think we will go ahead and reserve. The restaurant is in a shopping center with tons of parking. Easy to find in the heart of Roseville. The inside decor was friendly and welcoming, with a nice bar and all types of seating: high top, low top, booths.... They also have a smallish private room. They only serve wine and beer, not a full bar. I had the Prosecco which was nicely priced. My husband ordered the burger and fries and he said it was the best hamburger he's ever had! (And he's had a lot of burgers!) I had the meatloaf which was also very delicious. We got two desserts - I recommend the apple crisp. Service was fast and friendly. They're very pet friendly and our server Elijah along with his co-worker were outstanding! They were incredibly attentive and knew the menu very well. And what arrived at our table was fantastic....Bison Sliders and the Range Pizza. The Bison Sliders were cooked to a perfect medium-rare with decadent flavor abounding.
