Great place to sit and relax with your friends. I have never been disappointed when I eat here. Food has consistently been good. I usually get kababs with half rice and half humous. The staff is also very friendly. The only really bad thing I could say about this place is that it is located in sort of a bad part of town, but once you get inside, it's decorated so nice that you don't even notice. Ranosh is the best Hooka place in Houston. I've been going to hooka joints since the original "Stars Cafe" on Westhimer and Greedridge, and Ranosh has the best food, service, hooka and atmosphere. Their prices are fair, and they don't add tip regardless of your group size like other hooka spots. Free WIFI, a playground for kids, greenery and waterfalls. What more can you ask for? read more

If there is one thing I always crave when I'm in Houston...it's good Mediterranean food! I absolutely LOVE this place. The menu is simple and so is the food but all of the ingredients are FRESH! The chicken and lamb kabobs are cooked to perfection! You will not be disappointed. I suggest getting the mixed plate with chicken tawook and lamb kabob with their smooth, creamy yummy hummus and either the tabouli or rice. I get the tabouli usually because it's healthier but their rice is really tasty. I would give this place a 2 star for a couple of reasons , first of all the place seems old and needs some renovation . It's dusty if you pay attention to the walls . It came quickly.. w/ real coal! (extremely rare in NY to find hookah places that don't use chemical-laced self-lighting- coaldisks). hookah was very smooth. Ranosh Cafe is one of our favorite local Mediterranean/Arabic food destinations. It's usually busy in the evenings, but nice and open in the afternoons. There is valet parking, which is usually necessary because street parking is sparse. Indoor and outdoor seating is available as well as a playground for kids. The mixed grill with hummus and rice and the chicken Shawerma sandwich with fries are our personal favorites - very good. We don't smoke shisha often here, but it is good, especially with a glass of tea. read more

Great food! The only reason I am giving it a 4 star is because there service is not consistent. Some days it's and some days it isn't.

The rain forced me to go here...I wanted to go to Ekko's that nite....but didn't. I went because my family and I had a taste for a Gyro... as you know, I'm from Chicago...I have experienced the taste of every kind of food possible and some have stolen my heart, particularly The Greek God...wait for it...The Gyro! LOL! Ok...ok...I know it's not a mythical god... The owner was very pleasant as well as his staff...we got acquainted and shared stories of Morrocco and such ...him and my sister rather....while we waited for what we thought would be Gyros ...we sat and enjoyed the venues ambiance...beautiful and very native like similarities to that part of the world... So...if I plan to go back...which I will...I will not be getting a Gyro...what we got were pieces of beef NOT shawarma with tzatziki sauce and giardinera veggies? WTF? All wrapped in Na'an...very disappointed...but we will try the Shish kabobs when we go next time...apparently everyone can't do a Gyro... :( But the atmosphere is SOOO pleasant, with the exception of some high yellow black chick staring us up and down as if she were the only diverse black woman that ever existed...? I love this place! Everything I have eaten it tasty. I typically stick to the beef fajita since it seems like the portions are larger and the vegetables are grilled a bit more to my liking. I love the mint tea especially on night with a slight chill in the air when I sit outside. The only reason I can't bring myself to give it 5 start is because the service could use some work. They are slower than 10 years in prison. On many occasions they have given us our food and forgotten about us until we flag them down for our bill. One of the best hookah lounges in Houston! The hookah's are cheap and shisha tastes great! The flavors last long and hardly have to tend to them. They use real coals and not instant lights that make a huge difference. There is a giant patio outside for smoking as well as a indoor smoking section. The patios are gently air conditioned and are well vented. The patios are also accompanied with giant TV's playing music videos or animal shows. The food is delicious and flavorful. Staff is always friendly. There only 2 downsides that I really can spot -Sometimes your order gets lost in the chaos. I waited 20 minutes for a second head/bowl before going up and asking and they had forgot all about it. No big deal though because they threw it in for free. -And also sometimes they have a hard time counting if not everyone is present at the time of ordering. Ranosh is by no stretch of the imagination the best hookah I've ever had. I wouldn't even put it in the top 10 and it would be a stretch to make top 20, however, it's the best Houston's got to offer. The food at Ranosh is nothing to write home about. Simple middle eastern/mediterranean dishes like gyros, shawarma, kebabs, etc, with fries or rice on the side. I wasn't disappointed by it, but I wasn't impressed either. The chicken was lacking in flavor. I can't speak for the beef or lamb. The hookah could have been cleaner. They also could have been a lot more attentive about the charcoals, because in the maybe 5 or 6 times I've been there, the charcoal has always gone compeletely dead before we could even find anyone to get more. Their flavor selection is shit - they have apple, apple, and on special days, apple. But what do you want? They've got the monopoly on shisha on Houston. A relatively large restaurant with a massive outdoor deck, open all night in the heart of Houston's Little Arabia/Desi Central. The market is cornered right there. I also ordered Moroccan tea the FIRST time I went there. Never again. It was horrible. Cold, and it took forever. You COULD hit up "Hookah Bar" down the street, next to "Oxygen Bar", but you could also go hang out in the Westside High School bathroom and get the same experience, 16 and 17 year old kids looking for somewhere they can smoke and be as (yet another one of my EX) boyfriend(s) said, "cool but legal". That being said, I've also been to some place in League City, that was so painfully boring that I can't remember the name (although, I'm sure after writing this I'll google it to discourage people from wasting their time there), so I have a pretty good idea of the "hookah scene" in Houston. So, I pose this rhetoricalish question - with so many middle eastern and south asian people in Houston - why is Ranosh as good as it gets? There is so much potential for business in this market. Hidden in the middle of Fondren between West Park and Richmond, Ranosh is one of the better hookah restaurants in Houston. I've been to many, and I can at least stand the service/food/shisha here. Somehow it feels more.. real, than just a # of sq feet that someone rents months. This place has a patio build in the backyard, complete with loads of tables, tv's in every corner, a large fountain in the middle, and plenty of breeze to feel. They even have TWO playgrounds for the chillun' to frolic. -Shisha; smooth, cheaper than other places, and delicious. -Food; The hummus is pretty much like hummus, doesn't stand out, but isn't bad. The beef shawarma was hot and juicy. That I would never turn down. The chicken shawarma wasn't as good, but good none-the-less. -Service; A few times my party has been ignored upon entering, but we don't take it to heart. Just find a seat and someone will find you. Chances are they saw you and are just waiting for you to get comfortable. One guy hit on me, which was a little uncomfortable, but whatever. Most of the servers are the same; polite. They'll come to get your drink orders, your shisha and food order after the drinks are brought, then you'll never see them again. So order everything all at once if you don't want to go on a scavenger hunt for a waiter. They use real coals on hookah, however one point off because they really need to improve their coal refilling service.Last time we seat near fountain for 3 hours but no one come by to add coals at all. Outdoor atmosphere is relaxing, quiet. Indoor gets weird sometimes when you are the only minority customer surrounding by groups of male hookah smokers who playing cards. I used to be a regular here and I stop going in September, so when I came back I was excited to see the new sign and seats. But was it jammed packed (when isn't it), this little hole in the wall has bloomed into meh. The food still amazing, the baklava was lacking, I don't think they do it there anymore, the sisha/hookah just skip it. I was upset. I got nothing but pipe taste, made my lips numb and tingly. Not sure what they did but the hookah used to be good, now its like smooking the cheapest pipe available. I didn't care for it, nor the lack of waiters and when I got some ones attention all I got was "who's your waiter?" Followed by a wait to get them to take any extra orders. I had to go beg other tables to let me have the extra chairs and carry them to our table.. salad came as raw-materials only with no dressing or anything, we had to ask few times for salad dressing until the waitress brought it about the time that we finished dinner.. food price was expensive and they added 20% mandatory tip for providing awful service for large party.. will never go back there again.. avoid this sh*tty restaurant. read more

The valets damaged the bumper on my brother's brand new car (not even 3 weeks old). Upon discovery, we brought this to the attention of the parking lot manager and he asked for 3 days to investigate which we respectfully gave - his end conclusion was that it was too dark at night to see on camera and determine whether the damage was done by one of the valets in one of the surrounding lots (we were never shown the camera footage). However, we know with certainty that the damage was done while the car was here. His idea of keeping us happy was him paying 70% of the repair price but ONLY from a shadyass body shop that he had connections with - and even then they would only do a touch-up job, not the 100% job that a reputable shop or the dealership would do. We challenged this to have him pay 70% of a complete repair performed at a trusted shop which we got a good rate from. He refused to be flexible on this and said he could only give 40% of that amount - given no other choice, we cut our losses and took that amount. My brother had been going to Ranosh on a biweekly basis for a long time, but given all of the above, I don't think we'll be returning to Ranosh ever again, and I advise those that really wanna come here - BEWARE OF THE VALETS. Valet is the only parking option after 4pm, and the OK food is not worth risking your car getting damaged. read more
