Think Halle Berry's hair in The Call but past my shoulders.... One sunny day I met Jee....and from that day forth I solemnly swore to hop on a plane and fly to wherever Jee moves! This woman cuts curls like NO ONE ELSE. She told me she always wanted curly hair and I believe that is the reason why she can do it so well! ONE THING you have to make sure however is to ARTICULATE what you want out of your curls to her. Tell her how much your hair will "curl up" from being pressed flat **if you do not know that answer pull your hair straight and measure that and then let it go back up and measure that***...OR simply tell her you want to cut it curly and she can do that as well. The key with curls is communication and not lying to yourself about what you have on your head and what you want it to look like. If i want a precision bob, Jee will give that too me but i also have to understand that that bob will curl up into a precisely perfectly round mess of curls next week. I am pleased with both. PS she took me Halle Short too and we chopped off over 12 inches it was fantastic. I am 2.5 years into my grow-out...and let me tell you...the Halle Cut she gave me grew out and it kept looking better and better! Jee is perfection, personable and fun! if Jee can cut my curls she can cut ANY hair. I cannot wait to have my first Roman Salon experience with the only person I let near my curls... Jee!!!!

I also got tired of spending nearly what I pay in rent for highlights and a haircut. Especially when I go every 2 & 1/2 months. So with the assistance of Lifebooker and reading some Yelp reviews I took a leap of faith and tried Clark Nova. I lucked out with the awesome Tamara. She listened to what I wanted, and has always given me the color and cut I ask for. She really takes her time and does an amazing job. This last visit though really sealed the deal. I wanted to go even blonder than I usually do, while still looking natural, with balayage highlights. (Shocking, I'm not a natural sun-kissed blonde!) Tamara did a beautiful job with the color, and after a wash, cut and blow-dry, she said that she still wanted to brighten it up a bit, so we did a 2nd round on a few strands. I love a colorist that doesn't stop until they get it right, and appreciate that she went the extra mile to get the color we envisioned. I have gotten so many compliments on my 'new hair,' it's a little ridiculous. The salon is casual, relaxed and unpretentious. And it being in the heart of 3rd street, there's always somewhere yummy to grab lunch afterward. The salon dogs are adorable too. Heavy hair takes way to long to dry and manage and is inconvenient for my field work. I am the laziest girl when it comes to hair. I don't blow dry it out or style it. Ask Thom, by now he knows this. Thom was referred to me by a friend's girlfriend, and when I first met him, I had thick, curly hair. He always provided flattering cuts and recommended great products to help manage the curls. He is an expert colorist and creates shades and shines like a scientist, blending products to make you look amazing. Consultative in his approach, he'll make you happy. Four years ago, I wanted a more professional look, and Thom coached me to try a keratin straightening process. I've kept it that way ever since and need a Brazilian Blowout every four months. Here's a great thing about Dino Clark Salon: there is a special room that is environmentally-isolated for straightening and other processes containing fumes. This room really works! In there, no fumes irritate my contacts, and I can't smell anything. Located at 2510 Main Street, there is always available parking nearby. A public lot behind the salon has empty spaces every day except Sundays due to a Farmers' Market. Thom's prices are very reasonable.
