Got my dry curly cut with Carol and it was great! Wished I would have checked out the yelp deals before going. However, it was a great experience. Everyone who works there is extremely friendly and welcoming. They slathered bleach all over my scalp, frying my hair, and leaving me with this awful platinum early 2000s playmate hair. There is no depth or low lights or even highlights in my hair. My hair is falling out like crazy and is so fried. I told them how unhappy I was and CAROL was trying so hard to tell me it's beautiful even though I told her a million times I am not satisfied. I went in with very yellowy, chunky highlights that I didn't like. I asked for something a bit darker but with some subtle highlights and I showed her a photo of what I had hoped for. Carol knew exactly what I wanted and she delivered! From the color to the cut, she did it perfectly! She's so sweet too and made it a really welcoming experience for someone who hasn't had such great salon visits. My hair is exactly the way I wanted it. I was not able to find any stylist that could give me the color I needed to make my grey wash away and Kevin did exactly that. He is a professional, with the "hands of God", smooth, soft, gently and extremely comforting. My hair color is perfect, the atmosphere of Mauro studio is warm, cozy and you feel as if you belong there. I have curly hair and this is the worst hair cut I have ever gotten. I am really upset. They brushed my curls dry and then proceeded to cutting it. To layer it, they took a big chunk of hair(like half of it), put it together like a ponytail and just cut the top. My hair is a mess. This is one of the best hair salons in Los Angeles. First of all - if you like being able to say "I get my hair done on Rodeo Drive" you're in luck...and yet the prices aren't reflective of their fancy Rodeo Drive address. The prices are totally affordable for a high quality LA salon. Alla is incredible. I've been going to her for many, many years. She has taken me from short bobs, to pixie cuts, to long layered locks...from blonde to platinum, to ash blonde, to brown, to brunette, to EVERYTHING. She is the type of stylist that not only looks at your hair but takes into account your face shape, body shape, and general 'style' to know what will truly look best on you. Her hair cuts grow-out extremely well, and she will always work with what you want. I am very lazy when it comes to my hair and Alla knows this, so she is able to give me a style that I can hop out of the shower, towel dry, and walk out the door and still get tons of compliments on my hair, and questions about who does it. She won a bunch of styling and updo awards as well. The salon itself is modern and intimate and everyone who works there gets along like family. They also treat their clients like family because everyone who goes there seems to keep coming back. In fact, so many of my friends now go to Alla for their hair. First, let me say, that I'm extremely picky about getting my haircut. My hair is blond and super fine, and it only takes one bad haircut to all go wrong!. I was referred by my niece (who knows very well how picky I am) to go see Mauro. It took me three months to finally make this decision. My hair was super long and out of control, with no movement and all I did was to wear it in a pony tail everyday. Mauro took the time to explain to me how the layers work and he really understood what I wanted. I must say that was THE BEST haircut I ever had!! I have very curly, thick hair and have spent my life getting unreasonably expensive hair cuts, treatments, coloring, etc. I've always gone to the best salons, so I hold the bar very high. My hairdresser in NY recommended I try the Copolla keratin treatment as a straightener, and this was one of the only salons in my area that had this particular brand of product. Though the salon's rodeo address put me at some ease, I was definitely nervous about going to a salon I was unfamiliar with. Let me just say that after expensive cuts by pretentious hairdressers at sally hershberger, chris mcmillan, and the like, this was hands-down the best salon experience I have ever had. Mauro treated and cut my hair and was not only professional, efficient and clearly experienced, but he was also so friendly and went out of his way to make me comfortable. That's important when you're having a 4 hour process done. He understands the science of hair in a way I hadn't seen before. He listened to me and knew what I wanted out of the treatment, acknowledged my fears and made me feel very comfortable. He remembered points I had mentioned on our initial phone conversation and assured me I would be happy with my results. Again, this is super important, particularly when you're having a straightening process done and are concerned about chemicals and bad results. I have had bad straightening jobs before... I was clearly nervous. Mauro simply knew what he was doing. He's a professional, and I made sure all of my friends knew it the minute I left. If you are in need of an amazing hair stylist go see Natasha. She is really great at what she does. She is super knowledgeable about color and technique. My hair always turns out great. I recently made a mistake of buying a groupon for another salon and my hair turned out terrible. Natasha was there for me right away to fix it. She did a great job. After having her fix my hair shortly after I had a moment and made the huge mistake of putting red box dye in my hair. Let's just say it didn't exactly turn out as I had planned, well again Natasha came to my rescue and fixed the mess I had made. She has been super understanding and very patient with me through this whole process. I definitely recommend her for any of your hair needs. Her dad Glenn also works at this salon. He has never done my hair but just by talking to him he also seems extremely knowledgable and is a super nice guy too. I'm guessing he has taught Natasha a lot of what she knows. My first experience at Mauro's salon was when I took my daughter for a keratin straightening treatment. I was very nervous about the chemicals involved and had been spending a fortune having supposedly all natural treatments done at two other salons which barely did anything. Not only did Alla at Mauro's salon do an amazing job, there were NO fumes, no eye watering, etc. The treatment was amazing and lasts for many months. Plus Alla gave my daughter a great haircut. While I was there I met Mauro who was so gracious and clearly extremely knowledgeable about hair. So I decided to make an appointment with him for my own cut and color. The end result is that both my daughter and I are loyal customers and have been back many times, always with superb results. My hair has never looked healthier and Mauro always listens carefully and makes sure he is giving you the best cut for your hair and face.
